GOULBURN VALLEY, SHEPPARTON - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL - EXPERIENCED OR NEW GRAD
Small or Mixed Animal Vet Opportunity
GV Vets are looking for a full-time associate vet to join our team in Shepparton. If you're interested in joining a great group of people, in a family owned and operated clinic, please read on.
A few words to describe the values we consider important at GV Vets: Work-life balance, kindness, laughter, family, compassion, massages at work, exceptional service, professionalism, supportive, home baked treats in the tearoom.
We are proud to be Shepparton’s only locally owned and operated clinic, we are advertising for an additional vet for a couple of reasons, one being there's something in the water here and two of our legendary veterinary team have fallen pregnant. The other being that we are renovating our cottage style clinic to grow and improve our hospital and consulting space.
Our renovation plans include a dedicated cat waiting area, a dental treatment room, a comfortable grieving/euthanasia space as well as an upstairs staff area with spaces for nursing mothers and maybe even a nap at lunchtime when required. We tried to convince the boss to give us a rooftop bar, but we couldn't quite get it through on the final plans.
Please click here to see photos!
The ideal candidate has a primary focus on small animals and while mixed practice skills would be amazing (particularly cattle) they’re not necessary for you to apply. Experienced vets and new graduates will both be considered for the role. We’re looking for veterinary skills that come with a sense of humour and a great teamwork mindset. Our clinic is busy, but there’s plenty of support available with 9 vets (7 FTE) and 20 support staff, including 10 Cert IV Vet Nurses. Our clinic has all the standard equipment expected of a modern general practice and many of the extra ‘toys’ to allow us to perform a comprehensive in-house work up with efficiency and offer best practice medicine: a combination of IDEXX & Abaxis in-house blood, coagulation, urinalysis & sedivue machines; imaging – portable ultrasound, digital touchscreen radiography, iM3 dental radiography; video otoscope & flexible endoscopes; TonoVet tonometer, electrocautery and separate surgery & dental / procedures rooms allowing dual anaesthetics each with dedicated patient warming and monitoring machines, large animal equipment including bull testing, pregnancy ultrasound, in-house milk culture and blood testing.
We aim for flexibility to find a roster that works for both you and the clinic, for example full time vets can work a four-day week with one regular weekday RDO or shorter shifts of five days a week. We share the weekend and after-hours roster between everyone whilst also providing backup to support you for cases that fall outside of a particular vet's comfort zone. We strongly support continuing education and encourage vets to find and expand their areas of interest with further study, webinars, conferences and clinical practice.
Shepparton is a fantastic place to live, with all the shops, amenities and conveniences of a major regional centre with the luxury of space and country-feel farmland all around. We have a diverse, multicultural, proud and progressive community with fantastic schools and health services. There are many great sporting and cultural opportunities, superb restaurants and cafes, we are close to the river if you're into boating, camping or fishing, there’s great hiking trails and we are close to the ski fields if you like damaging your knees. Going to Melbourne for a gig or footy match or festival is within 2 hours drive.
Comprehensive salary package on offer to the right candidate, including base salary, superannuation, continuing education, after-hours, registrations, memberships and bonus scheme.

BAIRNSDALE, GIPPSLAND - MIXED
Yep, we are yet another mixed practice, looking for yet another mixed or smallies vet for yet another permanent or part time role to join our amazing, wonderful, beautiful team. We would consider a pair of vets (I know, these are rare as hens teeth) and partnership is an option for the right candidate.
Who are we?
Eastwood Vets – we are the new kid on the block down in Bairnsdale, Victoria. We are small, but we are mighty. We are growing rapidly (the clinic and our families) and are looking for a vet, experienced or new grad, to join our team.
We could tell you all the generic stuff about our clinic, and it’s all good stuff to know but it’s all the same (purpose-built clinic, 7 amazing and qualified nurses, modern equipment, compassionate quality vet care, yadda yadda yadda, you’ve heard it all before). What we’d rather do is tell you about what makes us different, better even, than all these other mixed practice job adds you’ve been browsing.
- Awesome café right next door – great coffee, good food, on tap.
- Slow cooker Fridays – Yep, that’s a sit down home cooked lunch every Friday. Ok, so sit down may not always be accurate, but the delicious slow cooked cuisine we enjoy every week makes it a little easier to take the Friday crazies.
- Family friendly – we all have, have had, or want to have young families and we want our families to be a priority. So, while we may not be able to offer “school hours” we are all about compromise so that the important stuff in your life gets the time it deserves
- Work life balance – we love hobbies, we encourage and support hobbies. We work to live, not the other way around and we hope that you are the same. We value doing a good job and we won’t compromise on the quality of care that our patients and clients receive but we also value our own sanity, and we will bend to make sure we all maintain happiness in our workplace and stella mental health.

Eastwood, in Bairnsdale…… Google it…. The Travel Victoria website will tell you everything you need to know about this amazing region that you could learn to call home. There’s lots of stuff here… All the things you need (hospitals, schools, shopping etc), plus there is lots of fun stuff too (snowfields, beaches, the iconic Gippsland Lakes, all within stone throw from the clinic).
Sensible stuff you probably do need to know:
Currently, we have a mixture of four vets working through the clinic, two full time & two part time. LEOPOLD, BELLARINE PENINSULA - SMALL ANIMAL
Full Time or Part Time Veterinarian required
Are you looking for a flexible job? School hours only? We can accommodate. Surgery only? Fine!! Or consults only? We can make it happen! Perhaps you just want to work evenings? That can work. We believe that family and life outside of work is the priority.
We are seeking a third vet to join our small animal practice. We are located on the Bellarine Peninsula, just outside of Geelong in Victoria. Our practice is an independently owned single branch clinic which offers a high standard of care. We are not interested in KPI’s, or performance targets! We have great clientele and live in a beautiful part of the world, with beaches, wineries, golf courses and great schools. What more could you want?
How about no after hours, closing at 6pm on weeknights, only open on Saturday mornings, no Public Holidays and always being encouraged to leave on time!! We achieve the elusive work life balance by prioritising our team.
Our clinic is spacious and purpose-built where you will be supported by our experienced team. We have a good relationship with the local referral centre, and we also engage with a travelling surgical specialist to perform in house surgeries. We are seeking someone that takes pride in delivering excellent client and animal care whilst having fun at work. Our vets are experienced and happy to support a new less experienced team member, however there will be (limited) sole charge work, so this position is not suitable for new graduates.
You will receive well above award pay commensurate with experience, with one week of paid study leave per year and a CPD allowance.

Both experienced colleagues and enthusiastic new graduates are encouraged to apply. Our large purpose-built small animal hospital and equine facility offers all the equipment and facilities to practice excellent quality veterinary medicine and surgery.
A high percentage of our work is small animal with the rest being mainly equine although we do have a small amount of cattle, sheep and wildlife work. Although the majority is small animal there is an expectation that the candidate is willing to partake in all aspects of mixed practice.
Small animal facilities: Digital x-ray, ultrasound with colour doppler, pulse oximetry, in-house laboratory and cytology, infusion pumps, oxygen generators and orthopaedic instrumentation are components of our practice. We have a considerable about of emergency work and a high orthopaedic caseload, referral when indicated is encouraged but we perform the majority in house so a candidate with an interest in surgery would fit right in!

Where skill and expertise allow, we encourage vets to follow cases through from consult to discharge and for new graduates there is always a more senior vet on hand to help.
We have a large team of qualified and enthusiastic nurses who are there to support the veterinarians both during regular and after hours.
So, if a rural mixed practice with a wonderfully varied caseload, and strong support staff appeals, then we would welcome your application. New graduate salary is $67,500 plus after hours and superannuation. The salary for experienced colleagues will be commensurate with experience. After hours duty is shared with all veterinary surgeons, with a 4-day rostered weekend off each duty cycle. Full time work week averages 38 hours per week but part time flexible positions can also be available for the right candidate. TOIL is accrued for any additional hours worked and paid out if not used in a 3-month period.

We have been operating as a 3 veterinarian clinic for about 9 years now and are wanting to expand to four. One of our vets is moving on so we have two positions now available. Ability to do some equine work is desirable, however cattle only vets will also be considered.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and wants to work with a progressive team of people and practise high quality veterinary work and grow the practice into the future.
Our on-call work is mainly based at the clinic during stud season and is minimal outside this time. We share the on-call commitments in a 1 in 3 roster, we anticipate to make this 1 in 4 with two RDOs following your weekend on call.
The salary package is commensurate with experience and includes a phone allowance, vehicle, 4 weeks annual leave, after hours remuneration, 1 week study leave, AVA, EVA and CVA registration.
Experienced as well as keen new and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

“I have found this to be a very supportive clinic for a new graduate. There is always a vet available for backup. The nurses are also here to support at all times. The practice owner is very flexible and is happy to accommodate annual leave requests and when staff want a break. The practice owner has a lot of experience. I have learnt a lot from him. There have been lots of opportunities to learn new things at this practice. I feel like I have experience with more things than if I had been working in at a city practice. This has been a really great practice to work at. There is enough large animal work that we see cases every day. There is also a lot of wildlife at the practice. The town has been really good. The locals are very friendly. It is a particularly great location for those interested in hiking.”

MILDURA, NORTH-WEST VIC/NSW BORDER - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL
New Position
Mildura Veterinary Hospital is a large, purpose-built practice within easy walking distance of the centre of town in Mildura, VIC. We are an independent, family-owned practice of 7 vets (6 FTE and 1 part-time) and are looking to expand our team – we would consider taking on up to FOUR new vets for the right applicants (three years ago we did just this – see our Facebook page for details of the ‘fab four’!).
We are a mostly small-animal practice, with the occasional large animal, and as such would be happy to take on EITHER a mixed animal veterinarian, OR a small animal only veterinarian.
Mildura is situated on the beautiful Murray River and is a 4-hour drive from Adelaide, and a 6-hour drive from Melbourne, and there are daily flights available also.
We are an AVA new graduate friendly practice, but all levels of experience welcome to apply, with salary negotiable (depending on experience).
The practice premises have recently undergone extensive renovations, with more to come in the immediate future. Currently we have 4 dedicated consulting rooms, a grooming room, a dedicated grieving/quiet room, separate dog and cat wards, separate large brand-new isolation ward, a large separate sterile surgery with dual tables, separate radiology/ultrasound room, and large central treatment room with a wet table, and dual treatment/minor surgical tables.
We are very proud of our roster and working conditions which are very flexible. Most of our vets choose to work a 7 day per fortnight cycle (FTE – weekdays only as we are closed on weekends) but this is negotiable, and candidates are welcome to work shorter shifts Mon-Fri to make up FTE hours if this is preferable. Our emphasis is on an attractive and sustainable work life balance and for this reason, individual preferences and needs are always taken into account in all aspects of our practice. Time off is highly valued, and it is almost never a ‘no’ when a request for time away from the practice is made, whether this be for annual leave or other reasons.
We strive to provide a highly supportive environment for all staff – you will never be sole charge – one of the many benefits of being part of a large team. After hours is flexible and is shared evenly, and remuneration is excellent: up to 90% of professional fees are paid for work undertaken. Additionally, an RDO is accrued for every weekend covered on call. Support from one of the senior vets is always available, day or night.
Our wonderful team of nurses are all either Certificate 4 qualified or are currently enrolled in study. Our nurses are not just glorified cleaners, but rather play an active role in patient care and veterinary support – you can rely on them to monitor and report on your inpatients, ensure treatment schedules are carried out, take blood and urine samples and run diagnostics as requested, place IV catheters, set up for and assist with all procedures, and to provide continuous monitoring of your patients through surgery and into recovery, with dedicated one-on-one nurse-to-patient care ratio. Our two head nurses are not only cert 4 qualified but also each have their Diploma in general practice, and are currently undertaking further study.
Our aim is to to provide our patients and clients with the highest standards of veterinary care and attention achievable in general practice. We have a team-oriented approach to our cases, and tackle a wide variety of medical and surgical challenges. We have a dedicated hospital nurse each day. Referral is always offered to our clients for difficult cases, but being four hours from the nearest capital city means we have a unique opportunity to perform a variety of surgical procedures. We set a premium on pain management, preventative health care, and early behavioural modification, with puppy preschool courses run on site by our nurses.
We have all the usual equipment found in general practice, including but not limited to;
- In-house laboratory: IDEXX VetLab Station: StatSpin, Catalyst Dx, ProCyte Dx, SediVue Dx, SNAPshot Dx. Brand new i4 microscope.
- Erbe VIO 3 electrocautery unit
- Esaote MyLab Omega ultrasound
- Radincon DR xray
- Full range of orthopaedic instrumentation including TTA kit
- Oxygen generators
- Humidicrib and BAIR huggers
- Tonometry instrumentation
- IM3 Dental units (x 2)
- Vet Tome
- Surgical suction
Special interests are encouraged, and continued education is highly valued with generous course and conference expenses covered by the practice.
One of the current practice principals has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, and performs a reasonable amount of brachycephalic surgery including airway, skin fold, and screw tail surgery.
Dr Ian Japp, the previous practice principal, still works with us on a casual basis, coming in for orthopaedic surgeries as needed. An applicant with an interest in orthopaedics would, therefore, be supported and encouraged!
We are a supportive and social team and hold get togethers both inside and outside of work hours. We hold regular staff meetings, which are fully catered for by the practice.
Employment package includes:
- Salary well above Award: starting at $90,000 (plus super) for a new graduate, and higher for an experienced (1+years) vet.
- Relocation expenses covered, up to $5,000.
- Practice vehicle (Toyota Rav 4) available for the first six months, if needed.
- Furnished accommodation rent-free for the first 3 months, if needed.
- VSB Registration, VIN subscription, CVE membership, AVA membership, and radiation licence fees all covered by the practice for the first year.

ORBOST, EAST GIPPSLAND - MIXED ANIMAL
Full Time or Part Time Mixed Animal Practitioner
Snowy River Vet Clinic strives to provide high quality veterinary care for our clients and to their animals.
About Us
Located in Orbost on the eastern side of Victoria and just 15km from the coast, we service a large area of beautiful countryside which also boasts magnificent natural attributes from the coast to the high country waiting for you to explore and enjoy.
We are a team of 2 vets looking to move to 2 ½ to 3 vets.
The practice has a diverse caseload including pets, dairy, beef and a smattering of equine, wildlife, and everything else on the Noah’s Ark spectrum. A wide range of small animal surgeries are undertaken for clients who decline referral to a specialist, while bovine work includes outreach trips into the Victorian High Country. If you want a chance to put into practice ALL your vet skills, and are always ready for something new, you will thrive in this practice.
The clinic building was renovated throughout in 2016 and is a comfortable work environment. The clinic has a wide range of equipment to enable you to provide the best possible care and treatment for our clients' animals. Digital X ray, Dental X ray, In house blood test machines, large and small animal ultrasound, equine dental equipment, orthopaedic and general surgical equipment, Lane Bull testing equipment etc etc.
Please click here to see photos!
While we are no longer hosting vet students due to time constraints, our small clinic became the no.1 mixed practice of choice of vet students at Melbourne University on placement for many years. This speaks for the incredibly supportive and encouraging ethic that this clinic extends to its staff, and everyone associated with its work.
We encourage those considering this position to speak to current (and past) employees of the practice.
About You
We are looking for either a full time or part time mixed animal practitioner to join our team of two vets.
Our ideal candidate will;
- Be focused on clients and their animals.
- Communicate clearly.
- Work as part of a team or independently as the situation requires.
You will be someone who is comfortable dealing with large animal clients as well as companion animal clients.
We would prefer an experienced vet, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
About The Job
Our clinic workload is 30% large animal (primarily dairy and beef), and 70% companion animals. The mix worked can be varied to suit the strengths and preferences of the individual vet. We work in with the strengths and weaknesses of our team members, trying as much as possible to line up work that suits the individual.
We are flexible with the number of days worked per week to fit in with the successful applicant’s needs. Pay is for hours worked, not a fixed salary. Pay rate is negotiable depending on experience.
The normal clinic hours are 9 – 5 Monday to Friday and 9 – 12 Saturday. Weekends and after hours are generally not very busy and are shared amongst the team. There is a generous after-hours fee sharing structure in place to compensate.
Continuing education is encouraged and there is a scheme for the clinic to contribute towards costs of approved courses. The clinic pays VSB fees and AVA membership.
About The Area
Orbost is on the National Highway 1, 4.5 hours east of Melbourne and 4 hours south of Canberra. It is on the Snowy River Floodplain, a virtual island of super fertile farming land, surrounded by forest to the west, north and east, and the ocean to the south. The small coastal town of Marlo is 10 minutes’ drive away. For anyone who loves an outdoor lifestyle, it is an incredible place to live with an extraordinary range of landscapes close by.
Orbost is a welcoming community with an increasingly diverse population as this largely unknown gem is gradually discovered by tree – and sea changers. The town has its own hospital, high school, and several primary schools; it is well connected to Melbourne by coach / train services and has many sporting clubs and associations. The current ‘undiscovered’ status of the area means house and land real estate is very competitively priced.

As a new graduate I have loved my first 8 months with the FVC and feel that I have really settled and blossomed into my new role. My new team is always on my side underpinning everything I learnt at university and bolstering that knowledge with new information and encouragement.

BACCHUS MARSH - SMALL ANIMALS
Full or Part Time Veterinarian Required
Are you over consulting all day, every day at your current clinic?
Do you want to be able to follow up all of your own cases and see them through to the end?
Would you like to do surgery every day you work rather than only having one single surgery day a week?
Would you like to work in a harmonious and supportive team environment that actually wants to help you?
Then Bacchus Marsh Veterinary Centre is the place for you.
As the only small animal clinic servicing a large area you will not only see a large variety of cases, but due to our regional location referral is not always an option for our clients which enables us to perform the majority of procedures and surgeries in house. We are an independent clinic with the main hospital located in Bacchus Marsh and 2 smaller branch clinics in the surrounding towns (Ballan and Melton).
There are currently 8 full time and 4 part time veterinarians on staff and a large team of dedicated nurses and support staff. Our full-time vets work a 4 day week, with a weekly RDO and participation in a rotating after hours emergency service for our clients only. Calls after midnight are diverted to an emergency centre meaning a full night’s sleep, without interruptions, is almost always guaranteed.
The clinic runs RxWorks, and is equipped with digital radiography, comprehensive in house Idexx lab equipment, ultrasound, endoscopy, Surgi-Vet monitoring equipment, iM3 dental machines, 6 consultation rooms, 3 fully equipped surgical suites, orthopaedic provisions, a dedicated isolation ward and a large prep area. The clinic is also lucky enough to have on staff a veterinarian who has done further studies in diagnostic imaging and who is eager to spread his knowledge and wisdom on the fine art of ultrasonography.

The wage is well above award which is influenced by position and experience – we would be happy to receive applications from both new graduates and more seasoned vets. Full time vets also get to indulge in 4 weeks annual leave, 1-week study leave, phone and travel allowances, a fixed weekly RDO and a financial percentage of any after-hours work performed.
If the above hasn’t sold you, then your current vet clinic must be just as amazing as the Bacchus Marsh Veterinary Centre. Just to sweeten the deal – the location of Bacchus Marsh is conveniently located between Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat which offers the best of the city, beach and country lifestyle. Bacchus Marsh itself is a bush-walker’s haven, and it is known for its fantastic fresh produce and quirky cafes.
Please address your interests to the contacts below – It will be the best decision of your career. (Written by one of the current full-time veterinarians).

HAMILTON, SOUTH WEST VICTORIA - SMALL ANIMAL
Kickstart your veterinary career with us at Cox St Vets, Hamilton
Are you about to graduate as a vet?
But not sure where you want to take your career?
It’s time to kickstart your veterinary career with us…like Dr Sally did!
Sally has worked with us at Cox Street Vets since graduating 3 years ago.
And she has just resigned!
AND we couldn’t be prouder!
She’s accepted her dream job of a Wildlife and Research Residency based at a Zoo Veterinary Department.
Why are we so proud (and so excited about our valued vet leaving)?
It’s because at Cox St Vets we have been able to support and develop her in a way that has set her up for this opportunity. The combination of her initiative and passion to go after these opportunities, with us as her workplace to support her, is incredible.
Opportunities like volunteering with the South-Eastern Red-tailed Black Cockatoo Annual Count. The chance to work with the Eastern Barred Bandicoot population in the community parklands. Working with our local carers on a variety of injured bird and wildlife cases.
Here’s what Sally has to say…
"During my time at Cox Street, I have been very well supported both during and after hours and have always been encouraged to follow my interests. I have loved the varied case load and being a part of this team."
Now don’t get me wrong! We are first and foremost a companion animal clinic.
Working with us does not mean a career in wildlife.
What it does mean is a supportive and team focused work environment, where you get to hone your companion animal veterinary skills, and we help you follow your dreams – whatever they may be.
So if you are finishing up at uni, or maybe you have been working somewhere for a while and are looking for a change and would embrace this supportive environment in a predominantly companion animal role, please contact Dr Leisa Denaro (leisa.denaro@apiam.com.au). We can’t wait to see what we can help you achieve!
Added bonus - we are in a very beautiful part of the world. You too could start your day with a sunrise like this (see photos)!

WARRNAMBOOL, SOUTH-WEST COAST - SMALL ANIMAL POSITION IN MIXED PRACTICE
Are you looking to escape the city for a more relaxed lifestyle, but are worried you will have to sacrifice your standards of patient care?
At Warrnambool Veterinary, we pride ourselves on our ability to provide high standards of veterinary medicine, because we know that practicing rurally doesn’t mean compromising on patient care.
The Clinic:
We are incredibly proud of our companion animal hospital, which is always growing and adapting to new standards of care, and ensuring we have all of the diagnostic tools a regional clinic could dream of, including digital Xray, dental Xray, ultrasound, endoscope, istat blood gas machines, coagulation, faecal and cytology analysers, CBC/Biochem blood machine and anaesthetic monitoring equipment including blood pressure and ECG.
We have a high case load of both routine and non-routine surgeries and have all the equipment required to perform fracture repairs, TTAs and TPLOs.
For those more difficult cases that require specialist referral or CT imaging, not only are we 2.5hrs from the closest referral hospital, and we are fortunate enough to have a specialist surgeon visit our clinic fortnightly to assist with managing cases locally.
Our Team:
Our family of 50-ish staff enjoy plenty of socialisation, especially with Victoria finally opening up again.
Having fun while delivering a professional and valuable service to our clients is a huge priority, but we also prioritise a work-life balance, and working overtime and beyond clinic hours is not common practice at our clinic.
We know that the industry is challenging, and we want our staff to love their jobs and enjoy their lifestyle.
While we are passionate about primary case management, we also believe that working as a team is the best way to provide patient care, and as a result, you will always have support to manage cases should you need it.

NAGAMBIE, SOUTHERN GOULBURN VALLEY - EQUINE
Yulong Stud has a position for an Equine Veterinarian within the veterinary team of our business. Working alongside our two resident Vets, you will cover all aspects of a large commercial thoroughbred stud.
Yulong is a growing thoroughbred stud based in Nagambie, Victoria. Spread over 3,000 acres and across four adjoining properties, Yulong currently has five resident stallions, 300 broodmares and over 200 foals to yearlings. Consigning yearlings at all major sales throughout Australia, and a racing team of eighty plus horses gives the Veterinarians great job variety and exposure to all aspects of the business.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and organised person who wishes to be part of a close-knit Veterinary team as well as learning the structure and management of a thoroughbred stud. As we are currently in the development phase of two of the additional stud properties, you would be involved with input into set up and design of vet working areas within these properties.
The chosen candidate would be joining an established veterinary practice with two highly competent Veterinary nurses and two Veterinarians. Dr. Patino has completed a theriogenology residency in the USA and Dr. Meyer has 10 years of experience in both clinical and stud medicine between the American and Australian thoroughbred industries. The veterinary team is a very friendly group with a strong passion to provide excellent patient care while still pursuing a good work life balance. With support from the other resident Vets, you will share the on-call roster with the option of having four-day weeks in the months of May, June and July.
Yulong’s veterinary facilities include a full lab comprised of hematology, chemistry and blood gas machines along with the ability to do cultures and sensitivities. We also have portable ultrasound, digital radiograph and video endoscope machines. Additionally, our practice has strong relationships with nearby equine referral hospitals and therefore referral and additional support from internal medicine specialist, surgeons and theriogenologists is also available.
Reproduction would be the main focus during the breeding season and being proficient with scanning mares pre and post service, pregnancy testing and twin ablation is essential. The ideal candidate will also have prior experience with emergency stud work, foal medicine, yearling endoscopy, and radiography as well as racehorse lameness. However, a Veterinarian with less experience in the latter areas will still be considered as mentorship from the senior stud Veterinarians will be available. We would encourage you to attend seminars and clinics to further your education in all fields of veterinary work and the company would be happy to provide financial support for this.
You would have the opportunity to attend yearling sales to oversee the veterinary care of our yearling draft whilst on the sale complex. As well as assisting management with yearling inspections and completing thorough pre purchase clinical examinations, reading pre-sale x-rays and evaluating pre-sale upper airway endoscopy videos.
We currently have a staff of 65 and the ability to effectively communicate as well as assist with ongoing education of the stud staff is vitally important to the growth of the business.
The breeding side of the operation is located the beautiful wine region of the lower Goulburn Valley. We are located a quick 1.5-hour drive or train ride into central Melbourne. A fifth property, Yulong Park, serves as the spelling farm for our racehorses and is located on the opposite side of Melbourne and is only a short drive away from the Mornington Peninsula.
If you are ambitious and wish to advance your career further, then this would be the ideal position for you.
Requirements:
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine/Science eligible for full veterinary registration in Victoria
- A candidate who has completed an equine internship will be given preference but is not essential
- Minimum of one year of equine reproduction focused work
- Victorian driver’s license
- Equal shared on-call
- Ability to work and communicate efficiently within a large team and fast paced environment to provide a high standard of veterinary care
Renumeration:
- Starting AU $140,000 annual salary (negotiable based on the candidate’s experience)
- 4-day work week May through July
- Four weeks annual leave
- One-week paid CE plus a contribution of $2,000 towards CE expenses per annum
- Superannuation
- Mobile phone, fully equipped work vehicle and laptop

Moe Veterinary Centre (MVC) is looking for an enthusiastic recent graduate to join our mixed practice team in the beautiful Gippsland region of Victoria. We are a family owned, supportive clinic accustomed to teaching and supporting junior vets. We have had 4 graduates in the last 4 year, all of whom have chosen to continue working with us long term, and have developed into exceptionally skilled vets!
As well as our bricks and mortar clinic in Moe (1.5 hour drive from Melbourne CBD and 1 hour from both beaches and snow fields) we operate a house call service via our Gippsland Mobile Vets (GMV) business. Our vets enjoy the variety of covering shifts across both businesses.
Moe Vet Centre is a long term established clinic with wonderful client base. We recently renovated the entire facility to become a luxury, gold standard hospital (the new facility is stunning and less than 12-month old). Please see our Facebook page for a video of our facility.
Stu and Laura (owners) are both mixed practice vets who work hard to provide a great culture of team work, support, and development. We aim to enjoy every day we have at work. We really do look after our team, and work hard alongside them every day. Our nurses, reception staff, and vets all share a mutual respect for one another, and our main daily focus is working together and making sure everyone is looked after (both staff and patients).
We allow ample time for vets to do a thorough job (40-60-minute consults for sick animals, a surgical load tailored to individuals abilities), and help is available to all team members 24/7. We have regular staff reviews to discuss how we can make working life better for all and are proactive about staff mental health. To make sure our team remains cohesive, we have daily rounds, a weekly email memo, 2-monthly vets’ meetings, weekly to fortnightly lunchtime staff meetings, and social events for those who are keen. We work hard to have excellent team communication and enjoy the cohesive group of people we work alongside.
Please click here to see photos!
We offer a supportive, approachable, and knowledgeable team which is an asset to both a budding new grad, or an experienced vet who enjoys collaborative case workup, or enthusiastic peers to bounce ideas off or try new things out with. The most important thing for us is adding another great team-player to our ranks, regardless of clinical experience.
We have all the fun things:
- Comprehensive in-house bloods (haematology, biochemistry, coags, blood gasses, UPC, SDMA, T4, progesterone and more)
- IM3 dental machine (with dental radiology and Vet-Tome)
- Video otoscopy and endoscopy

It is modern and well kitted out with scales, microscope, fully integrated computer system, pharmacy and lovely nurse to keep you company and assist at all times. GMV shifts are allocated only when/if vets feel confined with basic sole charge for routine work.
If all that sounds overwhelming: don’t worry, we can teach you how to use it all!
We currently employ five full time and five part time vets. Full time comprises a 4-day week with weekends and a very light (and well paid) afterhours load shared between staff. Afterhours receptionists are employed to minimise the disruption to home life for the veterinarian on call.
Salary begins above award and increases quickly with performance.
