GIPPSLAND, MOE - MIXED VET - EXPERIENCED OR NEW GRAD New Graduates welcome

Full Time Veterinary Position at Moe Veterinary Centre

Moe Veterinary Centre (MVC) is growing and looking to fill a full time position at our mixed practice in the beautiful Gippsland region of Victoria. Earlier this year we merged with Gippsland Mobile Vets (GMV) to also offer a full home visit service for small animals with our modern, well equipped Renault van. We would consider a part time position for the right applicant.

Moe is an easy 1.5 hour drive from Melbourne CBD (also situated on a major train line for an even easier Melbourne visit), and 1 hour from amazing beaches and snow fields.

The practice services a large regional community and the case load is approximately 75% small animals, 15% dairy and beef cattle and 10% equine. The position offers the flexibility to increase the personal caseload mix as preferred. Applicants have opportunity to work across all services (small animal hospital, surgical and consulting service at MVC, equine & large animal services at MVC, and small animal home care services through GMV).

New graduates and experienced vets are encouraged to apply.

To new graduates we can offer a supportive, approachable, and knowledgeable team to guide you through your first years. You will have the chance to work with a range of cases and expand your skill set. You will have the opportunity to do things thoroughly, with consultations ranging from twenty to thirty minutes and a surgery load that is appropriate for your level of expertise.

To more experienced vets we can offer an exceptional team to collaborate with, interesting cases and freedom to progress your career in your chosen areas of interest. We have extensive modern equipment to keep any experienced mixed practitioner happy, and update this regularly for staff with particular areas of interest.

We recognise that we all benefit from skill and competence in the workplace and so we encourage continuing education and offer opportunities for professional development with generous study leave.

We have excellent equipment including:

We are an enthusiastic, young team who aim to enjoy every day at work. We strive to offer an exceptional level of care and service to our community. Our clients are generally fantastic to work with, receptive to gold-standard care and appreciative of our current exceptional level of service. Our current group of vets, nurses and managers all work well as a supportive and cohesive group, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about working as part of our team. Whatever your level of experience, the aim of the team is to assist you to provide a great service to clients and their animals and to have you love working at our practice, and as part of our team.

We currently employ four full time and three part time vets. Full time comprises a 4-day week with weekends and afterhours shared between staff with a maximum one weekend in four on call (standard would be one in five once we have our extra vet on board). Afterhours receptionists are employed to minimise the disruption to home life for the veterinarian on call.

Above award conditions apply and will be negotiated depending on experience and expertise.

Please contact Teagan Anderson (practice manager) on 03 5127 3511 for additional information or submit your resume and covering letter to reception@moevet.com.au

MILDURA, NORTH-WEST VIC/NSW BORDER - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcome

A full time position is available for a veterinary surgeon to join our eight to nine vet mixed practice in Mildura. Experienced colleagues and enthusiastic new graduates are encouraged to apply. An interest in equine work is a benefit. Our new and large purpose built hospital offers all the equipment and facilities to practice excellent quality veterinary medicine and surgery with friendly and supportive nursing staff. Digital x-ray, ultrasound with colour doppler, pulse oximetry, in-house laboratory and cytology, infusion pumps, oxygen generators and orthopaedic instrumentation are components of our practice. The practice has a busy medical and surgical caseload, mainly small animal (85%) and equine (10%), but does include avian and wildlife work in addition to the expected other species of cattle, sheep and pigs. The building now includes six consulting rooms and three operating theatres.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The equine facility consists of a large shed with undercover stabling, two horse crushes, equine scales, and a knock down and recovery room. Seven holding paddocks are available for equine work brought to the clinic. Equine specific x-ray, dental work with power float, artificial insemination during the stud season, and routine tendon ultrasounds are components of the practice. This is in addition to the expected colics, geldings, lameness work ups, stitch ups and laboratory blood work.

The clinic has nine full time and four part time nursing and support staff. The Practice is an Academic Associate Practice with the University of Melbourne, and in addition has veterinary students seeing practice from international veterinary schools as well as the other Universities in Australia.

So, if a rural mixed practice with a wonderfully varied caseload, and strong support staff appeals, then we would welcome your application. There is a strong emphasis on discussion of cases between colleagues at rounds each day, and we are a practice used to supporting new graduates as they embark on their careers. Bi-monthly webinars, practice membership of CVE, and each veterinarian provided with VIN membership gives all colleagues opportunities to continue to enhance their skills and knowledge. We expect veterinarians to embrace new challenges as experience dictates.

Plans of the building and discussion of our practice can be found at our website www.benetookvet.com.au

ALBURY - SMALL ANIMAL SURGICAL VACANCY New Position

Veterinary small animal surgical training position

Do you have a love for surgery but wish you had more opportunities and support to develop your skill set?
Do you have memberships in surgery, or would you like to achieve surgical memberships with excellent mentorship?

Townsend Veterinary Clinic is a small animal hospital based in the beautiful regional centre of Albury, on the border of New South Wales and Victoria. Our passion for what we do, combined with excellent customer service has seen us take out the Start Up Superstar award at the NSW State Business Awards. Thanks only to word of mouth referrals, we are growing and are needing to expand our veterinary team.

The successful candidate is a veterinarian with surgical memberships or an experienced veterinarian with the desire to achieve surgical memberships through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. The position will primarily involve both routine and advanced surgeries and surgical consultations. The advanced procedures will be performed with guidance and mentorship from Dr. Peter Young BVSc (Honours) MANZCVS (Small Animal Surgery).

Peter is a very experienced veterinarian who is a permanent member of staff with a special interest in surgery and has a love for teaching. Peter has worked as a lecturer, researcher and referral surgeon at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. He has also been an examiner for veterinarians undertaking membership exams through the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. Peter has mentored three veterinarians to their surgical memberships over his career.

Examples of advanced surgeries regularly performed at our clinic include complicated abdominal surgeries, reconstructive surgeries, orthopaedics (fracture repairs, cruciate surgeries - extracapsular and osteotomy techniques, patella surgery, JPS etc.), and everything in between (TECABOs, perineal hernias, perineal urethrostomies, BOAS surgery, gastropexies etc.). A proportion of our case load is referred from other local and regional practices. We regularly (average once a month) have specialist surgeon Dr. Adrian Wallace perform surgeries at our clinic and there is the opportunity to assist Dr. Wallace in theatre with cases such as double pelvic osteotomies, ectopic ureters, elbow arthroscopy, TPLOs and more!

The successful candidate will have the support of an experienced and collaborative veterinary team, working alongside colleagues with further training and qualifications in emergency and critical care (ANZCVS), anaesthesia and analgesia, rehabilitation and ultrasound. Our nurses are fully qualified, registered, and experienced, and their skills are well-utilised meaning that the vets can focus on the veterinary medicine and surgery and have time to research cases. The entire veterinary team strives for gold standard medicine, and we have similar high ethical standards towards our patients and clients. We are a close-knit team and regularly socialise together outside of work and we have a relaxed and positive culture at the clinic.

The clinic is well-equipped and spacious with new advanced equipment including: digital radiography including dental radiography (standard for all dental procedures); ultrasound; advanced anaesthesia monitoring including blood pressure, ECG, and end-tidal carbon dioxide monitoring; Tonopen for intraocular pressure measurement; in-house lab with biochemistry, PT/APTT, blood gases and electrolytes; separate sterile surgical theatre with suction, cautery and Bair huggers, and extensive instrumentation. IV fluids are standard with all procedures. We have a brand-new ISFM Gold accredited feline-only clinic on the second level of the hospital, which contains a feline-friendly ward, treatment area and dedicated surgical theatre.

Please click here to see photos! photos

What about the location? The border North East region is absolutely stunning. The clinic is walking distance to the beautiful Murray River and in summer we enjoy a float down the river, or a game of beach-volleyball at the courts down the road. There are fantastic restaurants, cafes and wineries. We are close to the snow, as well as the beautiful towns of Beechworth, Rutherglen and Bright. There are brilliant schools and great transportation options with Albury Airport only a few minutes away and an excellent V-line train service, making trips to Melbourne a breeze.

We are also extremely fortunate to have a local emergency centre (River Country Animal Emergency Centre) which is open every night and 24hrs through the weekend and on public holidays, meaning that there are NO on-call requirements!

If this sounds like the right position for you but you’d like to know more about the perks of the job and the lifestyle to expect in this beautiful region, please feel free to contact us for a chat (and even better still, come up and meet us and have a tour and a meal at the pub).

If you would like to apply for this position, please email a cover letter and CV to Dr. Shelley Wiltshire BVSc (Hons) MANZCVS (ECC) at shelley@townsendvets.com.au or call (02) 6046 9846.
