LETHBRIDGE, NORTH WEST OF GEELONG - EQUINE VET New Position
Golden Plains Equine (GPE) located in Lethbridge Victoria is a 5 veterinary equine practice. We are looking for a 6th equine veterinarian due to substantial business growth.
GPE practices state of the art surgery, medicine and reproduction. The case load includes a wide variety of horses from Clydesdales to miniature ponies, racing industry, sport and pleasure horses and everything in between. Our facility is one of the largest in Victoria comprising a modern hospital with a stable capacity for 28 horses, isolation and various additional yards and paddocks over 80 acres. Our foaling down facilities are under lights and cameras. We have all the latest equipment you would expect in a first grade equine hospital.
The growing practice is currently performing approximately 30 gas anaesthetics per month (arthroscopies, colics, throat surgery, cryptorchids, fracture repair etc) and at least double that amount of intravenous anaesthetics and standing procedures that are also performed in the hospital (joint flushes, implant removals, stitch ups, geldings, eye surgeries, sequestrums etc). Additionally we perform numerous field anaesthetics. Three surgeons (one on staff and two visiting) with specialty training routinely use the facility, and visiting specialists in other fields (medicine/ophthalmology/reproduction) are welcomed to use the facility.
We have a large reproduction case load that includes artificial insemination (frozen and fresh chilled), embryo-flushes and collection for ET, hysteroscopic procedures, and laparascopic PGE. We service a wide range of studs in the area. As a consequence of our busy reproductive case load, we also see numerous sick foals, dystocias and associated medicine and surgery cases.
The practice also has a busy ambulatory component and services a large number of clients across South Western Victoria, the Mornington Peninsula and the Central Highlands and Goldfields. The ambulatory work is unique in that the hospital and hospital staff can offer support to vets working in the field. As a result, our clients have become accustom to gold standard service on farm.
We are interested in hiring a passionate equine veterinarian. Our preference would be for someone wanting to move to the area long term and become part of our awesome team. We are very supportive of continuing education, and the practice would be ideal for someone that seeks higher skills within equine practice. Areas that may be of interest include: sport’s medicine including lameness, surgery, medicine, reproduction, anaesthesia, imaging etc.
If you are interested in this position with us, we would very much like to hear from you so that we can discuss the details further. Please contact Dr Stuart Brown on 0474 340 666 or drstuartbrown@me.com

STRATHFIELDSAYE, SOUTH-EAST BENDIGO - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL
Vet job ads are all the same 'great team, all the toys, blah, blah, blah'. So, as an experienced small animal or mixed practice vet, why would you consider myvet Strathfieldsaye?
The difference is how we care for our people.
- We are independently owned - we make our own decisions to meet our team needs.
- Our opening hours are 9am to 5pm. We don't open longer because we all need to do other things (swim, run, gym, horse ride, get kids to school, sleep in!) before and after work.

- 4 day work week.
- Closed Sunday.
- After hours are referred to the local emergency centre from Friday evening to Monday morning.
- After hours on call one evening per week - but only if you want to - for our own clients only, always with a nurse present, and very well remunerated (minimum $250 per call). If you want to, you can, and earn great money. Prefer not to, that’s ok!
- We close from Christmas Eve to after New Year’s Day - so you can spend this important time celebrating and recharging with family and friends.
- High nurse to vet ratio, so you can do the vet work, and never have to do the nursing work
- All nurses (including our fabulous reception team) are Cert IV trained, or currently in training, so they know what they are doing and how to do it.
- New build clinic on the way.
- Latest equipment (DR x-ray, dental x-ray and vet tome, ultrasound etc. etc.) and facilities.

GOULBURN VALLEY, SHEPPARTON - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL - EXPERIENCED OR NEW GRAD
Small or Mixed Animal Vet Opportunity
GV Vets are looking for a full-time associate vet to join our team in Shepparton. If you're interested in joining a great group of people, in a family owned and operated clinic, please read on.
A few words to describe the values we consider important at GV Vets: Work-life balance, kindness, laughter, family, compassion, massages at work, exceptional service, professionalism, supportive, home baked treats in the tearoom.
We are proud to be Shepparton’s only locally owned and operated clinic, we are advertising for an additional vet for a couple of reasons, one being there's something in the water here and two of our legendary veterinary team have fallen pregnant. The other being that we are renovating our cottage style clinic to grow and improve our hospital and consulting space.
Our renovation plans include a dedicated cat waiting area, a dental treatment room, a comfortable grieving/euthanasia space as well as an upstairs staff area with spaces for nursing mothers and maybe even a nap at lunchtime when required. We tried to convince the boss to give us a rooftop bar, but we couldn't quite get it through on the final plans.
Please click here to see photos!
The ideal candidate has a primary focus on small animals and while mixed practice skills would be amazing (particularly cattle) they’re not necessary for you to apply. Experienced vets and new graduates will both be considered for the role. We’re looking for veterinary skills that come with a sense of humour and a great teamwork mindset. Our clinic is busy, but there’s plenty of support available with 9 vets (7 FTE) and 20 support staff, including 10 Cert IV Vet Nurses. Our clinic has all the standard equipment expected of a modern general practice and many of the extra ‘toys’ to allow us to perform a comprehensive in-house work up with efficiency and offer best practice medicine: a combination of IDEXX & Abaxis in-house blood, coagulation, urinalysis & sedivue machines; imaging – portable ultrasound, digital touchscreen radiography, iM3 dental radiography; video otoscope & flexible endoscopes; TonoVet tonometer, electrocautery and separate surgery & dental / procedures rooms allowing dual anaesthetics each with dedicated patient warming and monitoring machines, large animal equipment including bull testing, pregnancy ultrasound, in-house milk culture and blood testing.
We aim for flexibility to find a roster that works for both you and the clinic, for example full time vets can work a four-day week with one regular weekday RDO or shorter shifts of five days a week. We share the weekend and after-hours roster between everyone whilst also providing backup to support you for cases that fall outside of a particular vet's comfort zone. We strongly support continuing education and encourage vets to find and expand their areas of interest with further study, webinars, conferences and clinical practice.
Shepparton is a fantastic place to live, with all the shops, amenities and conveniences of a major regional centre with the luxury of space and country-feel farmland all around. We have a diverse, multicultural, proud and progressive community with fantastic schools and health services. There are many great sporting and cultural opportunities, superb restaurants and cafes, we are close to the river if you're into boating, camping or fishing, there’s great hiking trails and we are close to the ski fields if you like damaging your knees. Going to Melbourne for a gig or footy match or festival is within 2 hours drive.
Comprehensive salary package on offer to the right candidate, including base salary, superannuation, continuing education, after-hours, registrations, memberships and bonus scheme.

KOO WEE RUP, NEAR CRANBOURNE - MIXED
15 years ago, as a bright-eyed new graduate, I turned up for my 1st day of work as a Veterinary Surgeon full of the excitement and trepidation that I am sure we all feel. I was issued with a set of keys, car and a roster and thrust into a consulting room with a waiting room full of clients. That was where the support given started and ended.
There were 4 vets in the clinic including myself, two of us were week one new graduates, there was a more experienced vet whose wife had just had their first baby and the clinic owner who was rarely seen other then to head to the office to take another handful of prescription pain killers for which he had an unhealthy addiction. The atmosphere was tense and there was an ethos of get your head down, do your job, and do not speak about it.
I could regale you with stories such as the time I had to carry out my 1st GDV surgery which was out of hours with only a junior nurse and a few disgruntled words of advice over the phone for assistance but I think you get the idea. Needless to say I only lasted six months and with a huge amount of guilt for the now new, new-graduate that I left behind I handed in my notice and moved on promising that if I ever had the opportunity I would never let this happen to anyone else.
We all started in Veterinary science with a common goal to be the best patient advocate that we can. Some say it is to be the voice of the animal, but it is more than that. As veterinary surgeons we need to not only ensure that any immediate health issues are resolved but that the animals within our community are given every chance to maintain that health for as long as possible by looking beyond the immediate and planning for the future. The pets and animals that we treat on a daily basis provide a significant role in the health, enjoyment, and financial income for their human counterparts and we have to listen to and understand what they are telling us as well as the animal.
What does all this mean for you? Well 5 years ago, myself and my husband purchased Station Street Veterinary Clinic and have made it our goal first and foremost to provide a workplace that is supportive and inspires people to be the best version of themselves that they can. From this we have built the most amazing foundation from which to provide the absolute best animal advocacy, married up with a fantastic customer experience. The success of this is reflected in our high average transaction value and a net promotor score of 90 percent! We are always seeking to expand on what we do and encourage all forms of development, be it improving processes, technological innovation or professional advancement.
Job Highlights:
- Genuinely mixed practice with 40% Equine, 40% Small Animal and 20% Beef / Dairy / Hobby
- 30-minute consulting slots giving you plenty of time to perform detailed examinations and make use of further diagnostics
- Extensive equipment portfolio including: a fully equipped in house laboratory utilising Idexx blood machines, a new cordless equine mobile radiography unit, iM3 small animal dental unit and radiography, ultrasound, endoscope, full anaesthetic monitoring as well as all the usual equipment you would expect in a highly professional and motivated veterinary clinic.
- 1in4 Roster with a 4-day working week
- Fully equipped, well stocked, custom-built veterinary vehicles with all the tools you need for the job including phone and iPad pro for remote EzyVet access
- Above award pay with generous out of hours renumeration
Please click here to see photos!
For the new graduate veterinary surgeon:
- Dedicated veterinarian to guide you through your first few months as a vet and provide ongoing support as required
- A veterinary skills matrix to ensure that you are getting the right experiences, in a timely manner and to guarantee that you do not miss out in any key areas.
- A social and supportive team allowing you to ask anyone for advice
- Active encouragement of group discussion on any interesting or unusual cases
- Broad list of clinical protocols
- Extensive clinical templates compiled within our clinic software (EzyVet)
- Well-stocked library
Located in the peri-urban town of Koo Wee Rup, Station Street Veterinary Clinic allows you to live an urban, semi-urban or fully rural lifestyle. It is an ideal location to support your hobbies and interests outside of work with beautiful beaches, Melbourne’s iconic CBD, ski fields and mountains all close by.
We would welcome you to come and visit us and would appreciate the opportunity to show you around. To arrange a visit or if you would like to discuss the position further then call us on 03 5997 2222, or email your CV to Dr Sophie Elphick BVSc, MANZCVS (Equine Medicine) at admin@stationstreetvet.com.au. BAIRNSDALE, EAST GIPPSLAND - FULL OR PART TIME MIXED
Yep, we are yet another mixed practice, looking for yet another mixed vet for yet another permanent or part time role to join our amazing, wonderful, beautiful team.
Who are we
Eastwood Vets – we are the new kid on the block down in Bairnsdale, Victoria. We are small, but we are mighty. We are growing rapidly and are looking for a vet, experienced or new grad, to join our team and help reduce everyone’s dreaded on-call hours.
We could tell you all the generic stuff about our clinic, and it’s all good stuff to know but its all the same (purpose built clinic, amazing qualified staff, modern equipment, compassionate quality vet care, yadda yadda yadda, you’ve heard it all before). What we’d rather do is tell you about what makes us different, better even, than all these other mixed practice job adds you’ve been browsing.
- Awesome café right next door – great coffee, good food, on tap.
- Slow cooker Fridays – Yep, that’s a sit down home cooked lunch every Friday. Ok, so sit down may not always be accurate, but the delicious slow cooked cuisine we enjoy every week makes it a little easier to take the Friday crazies.
- Family friendly – we all have, have had, or want to have young families and we want our families to be a priority. So, while we may not be able to offer “school hours” we are all about compromise so that the important stuff in your life gets the time it deserves
- Work life balance – we love hobbies, we encourage and support hobbies. We work to live, not the other way around and we hope that you are the same. We value doing a good job and we wont compromise on the quality of care that our patients and clients receive but we also value our own sanity and we will bend to make sure we all maintain our sanity and stella mental health.
Where are we
Eastwood, in Bairnsdale…… Google it….. The Travel Victoria website will tell you everything you need to know about this amazing region that you could learn to call home. There’s lots of stuff here….. all the things you need (hospitals, schools, shopping etc), plus there is lots of fun stuff too (snowfields, beaches, the iconic Gippsland Lakes, all within stone throw from the clinic).

Sensible stuff you probably do need to know:

MILDURA, NORTH-WEST VIC/NSW BORDER - MIXED

A full time position is available for a veterinary surgeon to join our eight to nine vet mixed practice in Mildura. Experienced colleagues and enthusiastic new graduates are encouraged to apply. An interest in equine work is a benefit. Our new and large purpose built hospital offers all the equipment and facilities to practice excellent quality veterinary medicine and surgery with friendly and supportive nursing staff. Digital x-ray, ultrasound with colour doppler, pulse oximetry, in-house laboratory and cytology, infusion pumps, oxygen generators and orthopaedic instrumentation are components of our practice. The practice has a busy medical and surgical caseload, mainly small animal (85%) and equine (10%), but does include avian and wildlife work in addition to the expected other species of cattle, sheep and pigs. The building now includes six consulting rooms and three operating theatres.

The equine facility consists of a large shed with undercover stabling, two horse crushes, equine scales, and a knock down and recovery room. Seven holding paddocks are available for equine work brought to the clinic. Equine specific x-ray, dental work with power float, artificial insemination during the stud season, and routine tendon ultrasounds are components of the practice. This is in addition to the expected colics, geldings, lameness work ups, stitch ups and laboratory blood work.
The clinic has nine full time and four part time nursing and support staff. The Practice is an Academic Associate Practice with the University of Melbourne, and in addition has veterinary students seeing practice from international veterinary schools as well as the other Universities in Australia.
So, if a rural mixed practice with a wonderfully varied caseload, and strong support staff appeals, then we would welcome your application. There is a strong emphasis on discussion of cases between colleagues at rounds each day, and we are a practice used to supporting new graduates as they embark on their careers. Bi-monthly webinars, practice membership of CVE, and each veterinarian provided with VIN membership gives all colleagues opportunities to continue to enhance their skills and knowledge. We expect veterinarians to embrace new challenges as experience dictates.
Plans of the building and discussion of our practice can be found at our website www.benetookvet.com.au

These are some (mostly) real comments from our past and present team members – and now we are looking to add a full-time vet to our fgnamus* team. Are you in?
Would your friends describe you as hard-working, organised and friendly with a great sense of humour? Are you the first to put your hand up when work comes in? Do you actively look for opportunities to improve yourself? Are you wondering what on earth ‘fgnamus’ means? If so, great! We may have just the position for you.
We are a mixed practice with approximately 70% small animal work with the rest comprising beef, dairy, sheep and horses. The occasional exotic pet and member of the wildlife population also come through the door.

What we will do for you:
- provide you with a supportive, friendly team environment (working a 4 day week)
- give you a thorough induction so you can settle in quickly
- provide you with handy gadgets (digital x-ray, ultrasound - small and large animal, endoscope, in-house IDEXX, great dental machine)
- help you whenever you need
- sing at you
- pay you! Above award salary plus superannuation
- provide you with a car
- help develop you professionally and personally – with training in the arts of leadership, business and, of course, improving on your awesome vet skills!
What you will do for us:
- support our team
- work hard
- have fun
- build relationships with our clients
- genuinely care about our patients
- be open to new ideas and be willing to share yours
Our practice is located in Wangaratta in North-East Victoria - a large rural town, close to wineries, snowfields, water sports and with plenty of amenities.
After hours is currently shared 1 in 5 and is generally not too crazy. Once you are up and running it will be shared 1 in 6 (hooray!!) This position is available from December 2020.
We are also looking for a new or recent graduate vet and couples are welcome to apply!
