Collaroy Plateau Veterinary Clinic, Sydney's Northern Beaches (posted 25th January)

Collaroy Plateau Veterinary Clinic

Part Time Vet Nurse

Butternut is the resident thug (i.e. a sassy and feisty tortoiseshell cat) at Collaroy Plateau Veterinary Hospital with an Instagram following larger than most adults on the Northern Beaches. If she wasn't a cat, she'd already have one of those coveted blue ticks! Her home is down a driveway in a small group of shops where you'll often see her trying to 'play' in the waiting room with the patients or sitting on the window sill silently judging the hoomuns working around her.

Caroline and Lewis took over the hospital five years ago but we all know that Butternut is the boss; just look at all the food bags she's bitten through!

With her plan of world domination slowly in the works (ever so slowly), Butternut is looking for another companion to help her keep the creatures in line and attend to her day-to-day needs.

Apart from the demanding furball, at our small animal hospital on the sunny Northern Beaches you will find:

We are big believers in work life balance so all nurses have a monthly share in the Saturday roster; we are closed Sundays and public holidays. We are fortunate enough to have an emergency veterinary centre nearby which we use for after-hours.

Career satisfaction is part of our core values, as is constantly learning new skills, so we support our staff in continuing education and encourage our veterinary nurses to be as hands-on as possible and to develop their areas of passion. If you are new to nursing or currently studying your application will still be considered if your personality and attitude fit the CPVH way!

If we’ve piqued your interest we'd love to hear from you, and I'm sure Butternut will approve

if you already follow her on and

The Wild Vet Animal Hospital, Glebe (posted 18th January)

the wild vet logo

Full-Time Experienced Veterinary Nurse

About Us
The Wild Vet is an exotics and small animal hospital based in Glebe, just across the road from the beautiful Blackwattle Bay foreshore walk. We see an enormous variety of domestic pets, from cats and dogs to rabbits, parrots, pythons, fish, and dragons (bearded and water, not Targaryen). With frequent wildlife care on top of our routine consults and cases, no two days are the same.

The Wild Vet is not your average vet hospital. If you’re looking to be a part of a team that cares for possums, lorikeets, and bin chickens as much as the frequent flyer french bulldog, you’re in the right place! We are environmentally focused, strive to provide gold standards of care for all of our patients, and our team is close knit with an emphatic (but not necessarily high quality) radio sing-along not out of the ordinary.

With the addition of another full time vet at the end of 2020, our team is rapidly growing, and we’re now after an experienced and patient-focused vet nurse to join our gaggle of four vets, six nurses, plenty of staff animals, and one practice manager.

About The Role
You will be joining our team as a permanent full-time nurse working a 40 hour week inclusive of paid lunch breaks. This role will be focused on gold standards of patient care, and you will be working in a team that has a varied caseload, with a strong emphasis on wildlife care and treatment.
The key roles and responsibilities for this role include:

About You
You are *that* nurse.
You know, the one that goes the extra mile for their patients, and cares about every single one as if they were their own pet. The nurse that looks forward to work on Monday morning because this is what they live and breathe.
You’ve got your Cert IV in nursing along with at least three years’ experience under your belt, and you’re looking for a clinic that prioritises the care of every animal that walks/slithers/bounds through the door. You may not have a heap of experience with exotics, but it’s something that interests and excites you! You want to find a team that has a great sense of humour, gets along with one another, and delivers awesome patient care. You’ve worked with EzyVet before (or are keen to learn the ropes), and your client communication is top notch, as you’re comfortable giving patient hospital and surgical updates to pet parents on the daily. You have a bright personality and a smile on your face even when the day gets a bit hectic. You prioritise excellent customer service, and work efficiently in a team as well as showing initiative when working alone.

This amazing role is ready to fill immediately, but we are happy to be patient for the perfect candidate. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

If this sounds like your dream role, send your CV and a cover letter to our practice manager, Liz Garling, at admin@thewildvet.com.au. If you’d like some more info or to have a confidential chat about the position, pick up the phone and dial 1300 945 383.

Desperate Nurse Norma Seeks Experienced Cat Servants!
Experienced/Senior Veterinary Nurses/Team leaders

WANTED - Microwave Operator and Senior/experienced Cat Servant to add to my collection of 2-legged cat servants!

So, the practice owner has told me ‘If you want more nurses (servants to me) Norma, they must have some Veterinary Nurse Qualifications/experience’….as I lay around and pretend to run this joint. To be honest I really don’t feel as though anyone else other than me REALLY matters, so as far as ‘qualifications/experience’ are concerned, if you can open the freezer and pop my bag of ROAST CHICKEN into that spin box they call a microwave and press those magic heat buttons your HIRED!! But I suppose one must abide by the rules...

Apparently we have several cat servant positions up for grabs (as some of my favs are heading off to Uni), from experienced full-time nurses through to potential 2IC/nurse team leader roles – for those with aspirations to advance to a higher level and develop their leadership and training skills and give my Head Servant, sorry, Head Nurse, a hand (just quietly – I so have the Head Nurse wrapped around my dainty white paws – I get whatever I want! Seriously - she even registered me in her name whilst claiming to be more of dog liking human (yuk – dogs – really don’t understand the fascination with those things)). Anyway – I digress…..

My servants are an amazing, hands on and supportive team who live for genuinely making a difference and know that what they do really matters – not only to pets but also those that love them. They gave me a home when I didn’t have one, and fixed my leg, and helped me again when I ate stupid stuff (twice). Actually they really do look after me rather well (as much as it pains me to admit it). NO two days are alike here. An interesting and varied daily case load keeps them all on their weird human toes. They do heaps of different stuff and the hospital is always full, always something going on and something to learn. I am also pleased to advise I have my own room which will require some ‘light cleaning’ – lets face it - my litter tray doesn’t empty and refresh itself!

Our hospital facilities are well equipped with 2 Surgical Theatres, 3 Consultation Rooms, lots of equipment which includes our new fandangle X-ray system which shoots and uploads X-rays INSTANTLY – I hear it’s pretty impressive but YAWN - all the humans seem way too overexcited by that to me. I am much more interested in my wall activity centre kindly mounted on the upstairs kitchen wall just for me.

Please click here to see photos! photos

In short if this sounds like the clinic for you and you have or very nearly have your qualifications and are genuinely keen to be my servant (wink, wink) Read on…

West Queanbeyan Veterinary Hospital is seeking experienced Veterinary Nurses to join our friendly 5 vet and 18 support staff team and recently fully renovated practice. We are a busy, full service small animal hospital with an interesting and varied case load where nurses get to be very hands on, work closely within a team and develop both professionally and personally.

Certificate IV or first year Cert IV plus one year experience is a minimum for these positions. Continuing education is absolutely supported and encouraged – we like to see our nurses be the best they can be and develop themselves and their skills as much as possible.

These are full-time positions and applicants must be available for hours that are completed in 4 days (Monday to Friday) comprising of 4 mixed shifts (7 to 5.30pm or 8am to 6.30pm) with one day off each week. Weekend work requirements is approximately one shift/month. Above award wages apply plus penalty rates.

Successful candidates in this role will be energetic, empathetic, have a positive and professional attitude and have a focus of helping others. They will be flexible and adaptable with excellent communication and organisational skills and thrive in a busy and fast paced environment and of course must be able to work a microwave!

Applications can be emailed directly to e.young@westqueanbeyanvet.com.au or snail mailed to Practice Manager at 158 Uriarra Road Queanbeyan NSW 2620.

Please include a cover letter – we are interested in so much more than just a list of qualifications! We want to know something about you!
