Great Western Animal Hospital, Wentworthville (posted 15th November) Senior Vet Nurse

Senior Veterinary Nurse

Develop your skills and leadership capabilities by joining a team of committed and passionate Veterinary professionals in a supportive fear–free environment.

At Great Western Animal Hospital we are all about enriching the lives of those we can reach – our patients, their families and every member of our team.

Are you wondering if there is more joy to be found in this extraordinary profession? Being a Vet Nurse can be hard work some days, physically, mentally and emotionally and we get that.

The flip side is that it can also be incredibly rewarding and exciting nursing your patients back to health. We understand that it is such a privilege that families trust us with the care and health of their pets, and invite us into their lives to witness the strength of the human-animal bond.

About the job
As a Veterinary Nurse you would already know what the daily responsibilities would involve in a small animal practice.
We do have a dedicated reception team so being at the front desk is not usually part of your role.

Our Vet Nursing team is vital to our being able to function at a level of excellence in health care and customer service. Our Nurses have a lot of client contact through our dedicated Nurse Clinic appointments as well as admissions and discharges for routine surgeries and dentals.

Our Nurses are integral in managing in-hospital and surgical patient care (blood collection, placing IV catheters, administering treatments and monitoring anaesthetised patients and those in recovery). This has been made efficient and easy using a smart- flow digital system (paperless) that our Nurses love (and rock at compared to the vets!)

We have weekly team meetings and training (we close for 2 hours in order to do this) where lunch is provided. Our Senior Vet Nurses have exciting scope to develop and implement ideas on keeping our team happy and high performing and to oversee mentoring and training of our junior Vet Nurses.

We have all completed Fear Free Certification and work with gentle handling techniques to minimize stress within our patients.

About You

Our Offer

If you’ve been thinking of taking a step forward with your career while having more enjoyment and satisfaction at the same time then it is time for you to join us!

Please apply with a short cover letter and your resume to Belinda by emailing futuregwahvetnurse@gwah.com.au.

Experienced full time Veterinary Nurse

Butternut is looking for a new hoomun to boss around!

Butternut is the resident thug (i.e. a sassy and feisty tortoiseshell cat) at Collaroy Plateau Veterinary Hospital with an Instagram following larger than most adults on the Northern Beaches. If she wasn't a cat, she'd already have one of those coveted blue ticks! Her home is down a driveway in a small group of shops where you'll often see her trying to 'play' in the waiting room with the waiting patients or sitting on the window sill silently judging the hoomuns working around her. Caroline and Lewis took over the clinic a few years ago but we all know that Butternut is the boss, just look at all the treat bags she's bitten through if you don't believe us!

With her plan of world domination slowly in the works (ever so slowly that is), Butternut is looking for a companion to help her keep the creatures in line and attend to her day-to-day needs.

Apart from the demanding furball, at our small animal hospital on the sunny Northern Beaches you will find:

We are big believers in work life balance and preferably have our full-time nurses on a 4-day week day roster plus a share of the Saturday roster, leaving one weekday, Sundays, and public holidays completely free. We are fortunate enough to have an emergency veterinary centre nearby, which we use for after hours cases.

Career satisfaction is also of great importance to us, as is constantly learning new skills, so we support our staff in continuing education and encourage our veterinary nurses to be as hands-on as possible and to develop their areas of passion.

If we’ve piqued your interest we'd love to hear from you, and I'm sure Butternut will approve if you already follow her on Facebook and Instagram (@cpvets).

You can email Caroline, Lewis, and our Practice Manager Eloise at oceanviewvets@outlook.com.
