WAROONA, PEEL REGION - FULL TIME MIXED, PREDOMINANTLY SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

PERMANENT FULL TIME VETERINARIAN POSITION MIXED PRACTICE WAROONA, WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Full Time positions available at Waroona Veterinary Clinic.

New graduates welcome to apply.

The work is predominately small animal but with the option to develop large animal skills if interested. Existing cattle skills a huge advantage, but not essential.

The position is mainly consulting, procedures and large animal call outs (NO HORSES) with one surgical day scheduled if you like surgery.

For new graduates surgery is supervised by our senior vet with another day available if your skills progress. Experienced vets may be allocated multiple surgery days depending on their areas of interest.

The position will be a 4 day week with every 2nd Saturday morning (3 hours).

Annual salary ranges from $57,000 to $120,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications ($57,000 starting salary for new graduates).

No after hours or on call.

Partnership/business opportunities are also an option for the right candidate.

New graduates would be mentored by Dr Ron Schneider who has 30 years small and large animal experience. He currently serving as the AVA WA state president, so has a keen interest in the future of our industry.

We have motivated nursing staff with our two senior nurses having 13 & 18 years experience each and we have been home to a VNCA nurse of the year.

We are located about 30 minutes from Mandurah and 15 minutes from Pinjarra.

The practice is purpose built and well equipped with digital radiology (including dental), dental suite and IM3 vet tome, full Idexx lab (Catalyst, Lasercyte, Sedivue, Coags etc etc), video otoscope, endoscopy, ultrasound, cattle pregnancy ultrasound, capnography, agent monitoring and automatic ventilators for surgery, electrocautery, full orthopaedic set up and more toys always coming.

Any particular surgical or diagnostic strengths are welcomed but not required as we are happy to refer if necessary. Having said that, our clients trust us intimately and often want us to “have a go”, so general surgical competence and a can-do attitude is required, obviously recognising one’s limits well. Our Vet roster allows you to work a standard 7.6 hour day (10 shifts / 76 hour fortnight) with a weekend rotation of approximately 1 in 4, with days off either side to compensate. This means no really long 10hr+ days or 50 hour weeks followed by 30 hour weeks.

Our hospital hubs are newly renovated and equipped well with all the up to date equipment including digital radiology, ultrasonography, IM3 dental suite, anaesthetic monitoring systems, and IV fluid pumps.

All surgery is done onsite at our hospital locations. Surgery is allocated at a time where it can be completed alongside other vets (not sole charge).

The role is full time, with the option of providing after hours advice and care for our emergency service when required. The role would include some weekend work. The successful applicant will be required to work up medical cases in a methodical and thorough manner, and be skilled and efficient in surgery. Experience in performing orthopaedic procedures is preferred.

Salary in range of $85,000 - $120,000 p.a. commensurate with experience.
