Part Time Parental Leave Cover

The team at Bedford-Dianella Vet Centre require an experienced Veterinarian to cover one of our Veterinarians who will be leaving us for approximately 8-9 months on maternity leave.

Bedford-Dianella Vet Centre is privately owned with staff who genuinely enjoy their work. Perth Cat Hospital is seeking a recent graduate veterinarian to join our special team. Feline practice experience and feline focused continuing education is highly desired and preferred. The candidate must be passionate about feline medicine and surgery, with training or strong interests in feline friendly handling, feline medicine and behaviour. Our hospital is the only cat hospital in Western Australia, seeing routine along with second opinion appointments. Strong communication skills, along with an enthusiasm and adaptability are essential in our growing business. Ideal candidates will have the desire to work towards memberships in feline medicine in the coming years.

We have a purpose-built facility, equipped with IM3 dental radiography, Karl Storz endoscopic equipment and boarding facilities. We utilise Surgivet monitoring equipment, Nihon Koden electrocardiography, Seimens ultrasound and doppler blood pressure, thus familiarity with this equipment is desired. We have a high load of dental work, including referrals from other practices, so additional training or experience in dentistry is favourable. Our team of dedicated nurses is highly skilled in feline handling, but understanding of feline friendly, low-stress handing is a must for our veterinary team. We are a Gold level ISFM Feline Friendly Practice. We use Vision practice software and have recently integrated Smartflow software to our practice.

Our Vet roster allows you to work a standard 7.6 hour day (10 shifts / 76 hour fortnight) with a weekend rotation of approximately 1 in 4, with days off either side to compensate. This means no really long 10hr+ days or 50 hour weeks followed by 30 hour weeks.

Our hospital hubs are newly renovated and equipped well with all the up to date equipment including digital radiology, ultrasonography, IM3 dental suite, anaesthetic monitoring systems, and IV fluid pumps.

All surgery is done onsite at our hospital locations. Surgery is allocated at a time where it can be completed alongside other vets (not sole charge).

An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated rural practitioner to work in the practice alongside our current Veterinarians and also to help grow the large animal consultancy and herd health sector of our practice.

Pay is well above award and you will be well compensated, including generous after hours remuneration. We would prefer full time, but will consider a part time position, with some on call work involved. A well-equipped 4WD vehicle is available for large animal and on farm work. A spacious house is also available.

We are a true mixed practice and have one main hospital centrally located in Kojonup and also a vibrant growing branch practice in agricultural supertown of Katanning. We have the capacity for 4 full time vets, of which we currently have 5 vets sharing the workload. All weekends and afterhours work is shared with flexibility. We are open from 8.30 am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturday. Our nurses also have an on-call roster and are all fully qualified. Our team is dedicated and passionate and believe in delivering gold standard care for every patient. We are truly family friendly and understand the flexibility required.

Our hospital is fully equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, anaesthetic and monitoring equipment, separate theatre, IM3 dental, in house bloods and more. The equine facilities are housed within a purpose-built complex and include adjustable stocks for safe restraint and 2 housing boxes. We have an easyscan pregnancy scanner and new bull testing equipment.

The large animal work includes a mix of beef, dairy, alpaca, sheep and equine, with Dairy and Equine being the main component.

Our dairy clientele includes 1,500 – 3,000 cow dairies for whom we provide a full range of herd health services. We also provide equine reproductive services including artificial insemination (Equine & Bovine) stud work and equine dentistry services utilising a fully equipped mobile crush.
