Already interested in a career with Sage Vets? Then we would love to speak with you. Get in touch with us here: clint.h@sagevets.com.au Work the life you want

At Sage Vets we believe in a healthy work-life balance. No long, tiring 10-hour+ days, or 50-hour weeks followed by 30-hour weeks. You work a standard set of hours, that you agree upon upfront.

Our Live Everyday Policy

You don’t need to put your life on hold until your days off.

Our rosters are separated into three core eight-hour shifts. Our morning shift finishes at 3:00pm, our afternoon shift starts at 12:00pm, and there’s the standard 9:00am-5:00pm in there as well.

Your roster will see your work vary across all three shifts, giving you the maximum opportunity to Live Everyday. That’s our policy.

Make your weekends your own

We know weekends are important to you, so we’ve limited our weekend hours to two clinic locations only. With up to 14 vets as part of our team, the frequency of weekend work ranges from 1-in-4 to 1-in-7. When you do work the weekend, you get two additional days off to make up for it.

Our shout

When you work a Friday night or weekend, we cover your meals. It’s our shout.

Enjoy up to six weeks annual leave

On top of the standard four weeks, all Sage Vets employees can purchase two additional weeks’ leave. If you purchase this extra leave, this means that in total you’ll receive two weeks leave paid at your full pay rate, then four weeks leave paid at a half pay rate.

Part of a strong support network

At Sage Vets you’re never in this alone. Each of our staff is supported by a group of over 50 vets and nurses, all here to help you succeed. This network is available to you at all times, whether it’s in person, or via our iPad video link that provides real-time support across all of our clinics.

You’re never left in sole charge

You’ll always work alongside a team of qualified vets and experienced nurses, who can support you as you learn. We believe in setting our staff up with the confidence to make the right calls, and the structure available to provide the trust that Sage Vets has your back on the decisions you make.

How we work

Locally-owned and locally-run

Sage Vets isn’t a big corporate chain. Our management team consists of our General Manager and our Administration Manager, who you’ll get to know and see around. There’s no corporate bureaucracy or no operation models where one person dictates the standards for our clinics. This is part of our General Manager’s passion for protecting your autonomy, and encouraging you to make your job your own.

No sales targets—ever

Our focus isn’t on sales or revenue; it’s on providing the best quality customer service we can. This is a major part of our values, and makes us who we are. So we measure your performance based on the level of service you provide to our customers.

You’ll never stop learning

At Sage Vets you’re in control of your development, so you continue to learn as your career grows. You receive:

A Personal Development Plan tailored to your career goals. Your Plan provides you with access to funded, ongoing education opportunities, and veterinary networking experiences.

KALAMUNDA, EASTERN PERTH - SMALL ANIMAL

Want to enjoy being a vet?

One of our vets is leaving to go and live in another town and we’re wondering if you would be interested in joining our team?

We are a family-owned, 4-FTE vet equivalent small animal veterinary hospital in Kalamunda, WA.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The main thing I’m offering you is time!

This is what one of our vets has to say about us;
I have been part of the Kalamunda vet hospital family for over 6years and hope to be for many years to come. I think we have a real family feel at our clinic, both with all the staff, often chatting about cases and asking each other's opinion, catching up for nibbles and drinks, but also with our clients and patients. Many of our clients take up the option of diagnostics and choose best treatment for their pets which gives a lot of job satisfaction.

As a boss John is a kind and approachable person who has always been very accommodating where possible and even more so once I started a family. He is always open to new ideas and new toys/equipment if there is something you feel would be helpful/improve the quality of care for our patients. He is also very supportive of further studies/areas of interest and often runs information sessions with specialists (ultrasound, dental, oncology etc) or gives access to online seminars on-top of our continuing education allowance.

I feel that all of this, and more (including a brand new clinic building!) is what makes Kalamunda Vet so enjoyable and rewarding”, Dr Becky.

So, are you interested in moving? Or do you know someone who is?

Please let know, I looking forward to hearing from you,

John Houghton.

BUNBURY & EATON, SOUTH OF PERTH - SMALL ANIMAL, FULL OR PART TIME New Graduates welcome

Full Time or Part Time Experienced Veterinarian

An opportunity has become available for an experienced veterinarian to join our friendly, caring and dedicated teams in Bunbury and Eaton, Western Australia in a part-time or full-time position.

The last 18 months have been pretty busy, so we’re looking for another vet to join our team. We’ve decided to increase our vet numbers now to ensure we can keep the workload manageable for everyone and reduce the risk of burn-out. We have the capacity to mentor a less-experienced vet, so new or recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

We’re not after a “Rockstar” or “Supervet” – just someone who’s caring, compassionate, and takes care of themselves as well as the clients and other team members. With a 4-day week (if full time), the ability to bring your dog to work, and a relaxed and friendly environment, this is a job that is built around sustainability in the industry.

This is what one of our vets had to say about working with us:

“I have worked at Bunbury Vet Clinic for over 20 years now. I really like working with all the staff finding it a very friendly and supportive environment to work in. I love the number of staff dogs that regularly come to work, showing how much as a practice we all love animals. All the staff animals provide for a stress release at work in a profession that can at times be very stressful.  I have 3 children and management has always been very supportive and allowed me to have time off to either look after or to support my children, which has made family life much easier and has allowed me to continue in my profession.

As a practice we value and support each other, especially the new graduates. I feel as one of the senior vets in the practice quite strongly about supporting new graduates coming into the profession, and in turn love learning new ideas/methods of treatment from them. As vets, we all freely communicate regularly, having discussions about our cases, which I feel can only improve the outcome for the patients.

I enjoy working at the Bunbury Vet Clinic and find it very rewarding, which can be seen by the fact that I have been here for over 20 years.”

Pay will be in the range of $85000-$100000 (full-time equivalent) for an experienced vet, plus super, after-hours payments, etc. Partnership would be considered if mutually suited. For a new or recent graduate pay will be well above award rates and does up quickly as your skills improve.

About Us

We are a group of two small animal clinics in the beautiful South West region of Western Australia. We are well equipped with great quality diagnostic and monitoring equipment (including colour Doppler ultrasounds, digital endoscope, DR xray systems and access to a local CT scanner). Both clinics are designed to “stand alone, so there’s not compromise in the work you can do.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We accept referrals from throughout the South West for orthopaedic surgery, ultrasonography and chemotherapy. We also have a visiting ophthalmology referral service visit our Eaton clinic monthly plus regular visits from a specialist Dermatologist. If you’ve got a special interest we would love to build on it, but we’re just as happy with a good all-rounder.

With shared after hours, we aim for a great work/life balance. Each full-time vet works 4 days/week, 1 in 3 Saturday mornings and 1 in 12 weekends on call. As we grow we hope to improve this weekend and on-call rota. We are closed Saturday afternoons and Sundays, so it’s a great job for anyone with a family or sporting interests.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Bunbury is just 2 hours south of Perth and one hour from the Margaret River region. With plenty of beaches, great sporting facilities and fantastic schools, it’s a great place to live and raise a family.

If you would like to find out what we’re like to work for, our regular locum, Peta, has offered to be a referee for us – she can be called on 0448 385 122, or her email is petalewis.vet@gmail.com. She’ll tell you how nice we are.

If this sounds like the job for you, please send your CV and cover letter to Braden at braden.collins@bunburyvets.com.au. Position will remain open until a suitable applicant is found

WANNEROO, NORTHERN PERTH - SMALL ANIMAL - SUNDAYS

What does it mean to be a vital cog in a well-oiled machine?
It means everything.

The most sophisticated operation cannot function to the highest level if it is missing an essential piece of the puzzle.
The operation that is Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital strives to provide a 7 day a week service to our clients and their furry companions.
However, due to our wonderful Sunday Vet leaving to start a family, we have lost one of our vital cogs.

We are looking for a good natured and organised individual to perform a “Sunday Service” – 3 hours of consulting to provide our clientele with the re-assurance of 7-days-a-week care.
This role is not a surgical role, it is 100% consultation and customer service role. Primary consults, bandage changes, some vaccinations and occasional Sunday morning emergencies. All very important to our clients, and to the Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital team. Opening Sundays gets our regular week off to a smooth start, so we have less “surprises” on Monday morning. It is such an important piece of OUR puzzle.

We are offering $70 to $100 per hour for the right candidate.
You will be supported by not one, but two qualified veterinary nurses who are familiar with the fine details of our hospital’s operations.
You will be joining a grateful and supportive team in a progressive vet hospital.
You will be seeing equally grateful clients who appreciate the Sunday Service we provide so much.

If this is of interest to you – please drop Steve an email at steve@wanneroovet.com.au
We would love to hear from you.
