Full time experienced Veterinarian

An opportunity currently exists for a full-time veterinarian with 2-3 years’ experience to join our busy small animal practice in the inner suburb of Applecross in Perth Western Australia.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person with a veterinarian degree registered with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Western Australia to take on this supportive role.

We are a long established (over 30 years) independent, fully computerised, small animal practice with an extensive client base and a busy case load of surgery and medical cases.

We have a strong focus on small animal reproduction but offer full medical and surgical services. We provide first contact and referral services and as such have our own endoscopy, ultrasound and digital microscopy equipment. We provide a limited after-hours service for our reproduction clients and are open on Saturday mornings. All of our nurses are qualified and experienced.

Our approach to cases is simple – everything that is appropriate to do and that we can do in-house we do. For example, we do our own TTOs and TTAs for cruciate disease. We aim to provide evidence based investigations and treatments but encourage our veterinarians to think outside the square when presented with new or unusual cases. The KISS system applies. Put yourself in the client’s shoes and consider, “What would I really do if this was my dog that was presented for diagnosis and treatment?”

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience plus allowances for on call duty and significant rewards for active on call duty.

We have ongoing in-house continuing education. The suitable applicant will be encouraged to undertake formal further learning that will be mutually beneficial to them and the hospital. The position is for a maximum of two years with the option to negotiate for extensions upon successful completion.

The roles will include but not limited to:

Reporting directly to the head veterinarian the ideal candidates will possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and expertise:

What Applecross Veterinary Hospital can offer you?

If this role is the right one for you, and you would like to become part of our team, please email your application, including a cover letter and resume, outlining your suitability against the above mentioned criteria to:
Dr Steven Metcalfe

Only successful applicants will be contacted.

Part time Veterinarian – Small Animal

Woodvale Park Veterinary Hospital is seeking a new or recent graduate veterinarian to join our small, close-knit team consisting of 1 full time vet and 5 part time nurses.  We pride ourselves on compassionate care for our clients, patients and just as importantly each other!  Here at Woodvale, being a small practice, we can take our time with each client and patient.

About Us

Woodvale Park Veterinary Hospital is a long-established (1996) small animal clinic in the northern suburbs of Perth which changed ownership in April of last year. The practice is about a 10-15-minute drive north of the CBD and easily accessed via the train.

The new owner started his career in specialist practice and as a result strives to provide gold standard care employing evidence-based medicine.  After years of experiencing cynicism and bullying in the industry he was ready to establish a practice that prioritizes compassionate care as well as building a workplace centered on support for one’s colleagues and fun. If you’re going to spend this much time with your co-workers shouldn’t you be allowed to enjoy it?!

Please click here to see photos! photos

We have the standard small animal equipment – digital x-ray, biochemistry analyzer, ultrasound, full anaesthetic monitoring, Doppler, dedicated surgical suite with RxWorks software. We have a visiting surgeon who performs TPLO and other specialist procedures on a regular basis.  The owner has a special interest and post graduate training in ultrasonography as well as exotics medicine and surgery, primarily birds, and would be happy to provide guidance and mentorship in these topics.

About You

Do you want to work in a clinic that prioritizes a supportive and happy work environment? Do you genuinely love caring for animals and the people who love them?  If the answer is yes, then you should contact us.

We are looking for a recent or new graduate.  Someone who is a lover of animals but also loves the people who love animals – the animals never come in without the people attached. It is a must to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  While some sole charge will be required initially you will be well supported. Initially the workload would involve working shifts with the practice owner and every other Saturday.  This will be highly flexible – the practice owner is open to changing this around. The hours would be 16-24 hours per week.

How to Apply

To apply please send your CV to mail@woodvaleparkvet.com.au with a cover letter briefly describing what you plan to bring to our team, any special interests you have in veterinary medicine, any career goals for the near future and what you would expect from your ideal workplace.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, and you can (should!) expect contribution towards external courses and skills development.

For more information on the practice see our website https://www.woodvaleparkvet.com.au/
