Maternity cover position.

We require a companion animal veterinarian to cover one of our staff taking 12 months off for maternity leave. Starting date is the beginning of July, until the end of June 2019.

Average rostered hours per week are around 22, but often more to cover busy days, and cover for other vets taking time off. Includes weekend work (we are open 7 days). Includes 2 full weekends a month (Saturday 9-3, Sunday 10-2), and one extra Saturday per month. Fridays off. We are members of the Christchurch After Hours clinic, and although you may be asked to cover the backup roster there, that is occasional (one night every few months) as we share that.

SCHNAPPER ROCK, NORTH AUCKLAND - SMALL ANIMAL ECC ROTATING SHIFTS Locum 18th June – 24th August

The Animal Referral Centre is looking for a locum Emergency/Critical Care (ECC) veterinarian to join the team from 18th June – 24th August 2018. Shorter periods of time within these dates also considered.

The Animal Referral Centre is a busy, growing, private small animal referral practice established in 2016 on Auckland's North Shore. It is independently owned and operated and has specialists in small animal surgery and internal medicine. In addition, we are fortunate to have Auckland's only veterinary emergency and critical care specialist in our team. The position will best suit a veterinarian who has prior experience in emergency and critical care, although experienced general practitioners with an interest in the field are also encouraged to apply.

The ECC vets roster consists of rotating night and weekend shifts, and 1-2 ECC veterinarians are rostered on per shift. Nurses are rostered on 24 hours a day to assist you in patient care. ARC specialists provide 24/7 support to the ECC team, including for surgical cases. The caseload is varied and interesting, consisting of a mixture of primary accession and referral from practices in Auckland and beyond.

The clinic has a full in-house lab suite, multi-parameter patient monitors, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, mechanical ventilation, C-arm image intensification, on-site CT, and dedicated cat and dog receptions, consulting rooms and wards.

The Vet Centre (Marlborough) is a respected, progressive, NZVA BESTPRACTICE accredited 7 vet practice. The architecturally designed purpose built clinic is very well equipped. Staff are qualified and well trained. An emphasis is placed on continuing professional development and development of special interest areas of veterinary practice. These positions are to predominantly cover a fulltime large animal role, equine, and a companion animal role, however we encourage any applicant to make contact if they have an interest in any of these areas as the position can be tailored to fit the right applicant. 

The majority of large animal work is beef and equine.  Sheep, deer, goats, pigs and alpacas also add variety.  Experience in pregnancy scanning would be advantageous.

The companion animal role consists mainly of canine and feline patients.  In-house diagnostic testing, orthopaedic procedures, canine reproduction, stem cell therapy, dermatology, radiology and ultrasound are some of the more specialized services we provide for our patients.

The clinic is open seven days and weekend work is predominantly small animal. Weekends and after hours are rostered 1 in 6, with two days off in lieu following a weekend worked for fulltime staff.

Full time/part time small animal veterinarian required for privately owned practice in East Auckland, NZ. Want to be rostered to work less than 40 hours per week at a clinic that has a large highly experienced nursing team? No after hours, no Sundays, no public holidays and only one part time Saturday a month (with a day in lieu)?

This role is preferably for an experienced vet (2+years) that is a keen team player who wants to increase their skills and achieve to a high standard - not just doing the routine stuff all the time! An interest in surgery or medicine or both is encouraged. If you love scanning or want to train we have a great ultrasound machine!

Our team of six vets and 11 qualified and experienced nurses all work as peers who enjoy having fun and practicing exceptional quality care. We have an excellent reputation in developing client relationships and individuality as well as sharing cases. There is often multiple vets on at one time so this allows for great case discussion for those head-scratching medical cases or an extra pair of hands scrubbed in for a tricky surgery! You have time to spend with your clients. We also have a small animal branch clinic that is rural so if you enjoy horse talk but not large animal work that may be a great place for you to do the odd shift!

The clinics are growing rapidly, we have all the mod cons, digital and dental radiology, in house bloods, ultrasound, electrocautery, dental machine, microscope, doppler, fluid pumps etc. And we have a large team of super awesome fully qualified nurses and the ladyboss allows freedom for lifestyle, ingenuity, individuality and supports CPD. You will never work Sundays or public holidays!!

We are looking for an experienced and capable Veterinary Services Manager to take on the management of our Veterinary Hospital in our Auckland Centre. You would play a crucial role in leading a highly collegial team and filling one of the most rewarding roles available in animal care. Previous leadership experience of hospital teams is a must.

In this role, you will be overseeing our vets, providing leadership on all veterinary matters throughout the hospital and helping to set the professional standards of animal care and hygiene for the SPCA. Vets at the village are supported by qualified nurses along with multiple assistants and volunteers. You will also be part of the management team at Auckland and so will be the key link and communicator between the hospital and the rest of the shelter.

While our work is comprised of shelter work, the sheer number of cases we see in a year allows for more experiences and learning than just 'shelter work'.

The hospital is equipped with all the daily functioning equipment along with digital full body and dental x-ray, dental machine, IV fluid pumps, surgical suite and anaesthetic monitoring equipment.
