FULL TIME MIXED POSITION FOR AN EXPERIENCED OR NEW GRADUATE VET

We have a vacancy for a vet in our rural mixed practice at Norvet Services in Okaihau. We have a small personal clinic with good clients in a beautiful location.

NELSON, TASMAN BAY - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL, PURCHASE POTENTIAL New Position

NELSON
Companion animal veterinarian – Practice ownership opportunity

The Halifax Veterinary Centre pioneered BESTPRACTICE Hospital Standards becoming the first practice accredited to this level back at the beginning of the millennium. Massey University Teaching Hospital followed 15 years later. There are just 4 practices in NZ at this level.

We provide second tier referrals in gastroenterology, oncology, cardiorespiratory disease, ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics with the facilities and equipment to match. We access CT and MRI through a close working relationship with a private facility 400m away. Dr Duncan Graham provides dermatology referrals from our practice. Learn more on www.halifaxvet.co.nz We are open 365 days a year. That might sound daunting but we share after-hours with two neighbouring practices so after-hours duties are typically one night every three weeks and you could expect to work two or three public holidays a year. You will join four vets, only one of whom works full-time. Fulltime in our practice means four days a week and every third Saturday morning. The position could be full-time or part-time.

Our ideal candidate will have strengths in orthopaedic surgery that complement the very strong medicine side of the practice, enjoy working as part of a team, and be keen for early ownership. They will love working with clients. We have a loyal client base who typically want and expect the best care for their pets. Our goal of having the pets in our care die peacefully at the end of the happiest, healthiest and longest life possible requires a strong focus on whole-of-life preventive care.

We will also consider a more recent graduate keen to develop a special area of interest with a view to ANZCVS membership examination in that field.

Nelson has often been voted the best place to live in New Zealand and it is easy to find out why. Moving here 33 years ago was the second-best decision in my life. Marrying my wife was the best. You can’t make that one!

Your enquiry will be treated in confidence. My contact details are:
