SCHNAPPER ROCK, AUCKLAND'S NORTH SHORE - FULL & PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL/EMERGENCY

Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarians Wanted!
Animal Referral Centre, North Shore Auckland

About Us:
Animal Referral Centre (ARC) is a busy, growing, private small animal specialist/emergency practice established in 2016. We are independently owned and operated and have specialists in small animal surgery and internal medicine. We are expecting to add dermatology and physiotherapy services to the practice in mid 2019.

Our after hours caseload is varied and interesting, consisting of a mixture of primary access and referral cases from practices in Auckland and beyond. A high proportion of our clients have pet insurance.

We have all the equipment you would expect in a modern veterinary hospital including full in-house lab suite with Radiometer, multiparameter patient monitors, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, mechanical ventilation, on-site CT, and dedicated cat and dog receptions, consulting rooms and wards. Nurses are rostered on 24 hours a day to assist you in patient care and we have recently extended reception hours on most evenings and weekends.

Please click here to see photos! Camera

We strive to have a cohesive, friendly work environment and encourage collaboration between our specialist and emergency teams to ensure the highest possible standards of patient care are achieved.

The clinic is located in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city and home to 1.5 million people. In Auckland, fantastic beaches, hiking trails and national parks are only half an hour away. The climate is sunny, there is a background rhythm of Polynesian culture and a passion for outstanding food, wine and shopping.

About You:
You are a veterinarian with a minimum of two years experience in small animal practice (or completion of an internship) with a passion for emergency and critical care (ECC). Experience in an emergency clinic would be advantageous but not necessarily required.

You are a team player with excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing outstanding patient care. You are motivated, adaptable and have a positive attitude.

The Positions:
We are looking for a permanent full time ECC veterinarian to replace a colleague who is leaving to travel overseas in April 2019. The roster for this position will involve rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and weekday daytimes. During the weekday shifts there is the opportunity to work alongside our specialist team to improve your skill set in an area or area(s) of your choice.

Due to growth in weekend case load, we are also looking for a part time ECC vet to start as soon as possible. The roster for this position would be Saturday and Sunday daytime consulting shifts on a fortnightly basis (one weekend on, one weekend off). This could suit a veterinarian returning to work after a break or with limited previous experience in emergency/critical care, as you will always be working with one of our full time ECC veterinarians. For this position we are also happy to consider candidates available on a less frequent basis, for example 1 shift per fortnight.

For both positions, continuing education in the field of veterinary emergency and critical care is supported and encouraged. An initial induction/training period will be tailored based on the experience level of our successful candidate(s).

Why work for ARC?

To apply, please send a cover letter and CV to Fiona.park@arcvets.co.nz or for more information phone (09) 2815 815.

We are looking for a long term locum to cover maternity leave, although the position could become permanent for the right candidate.

The ideal applicant would be someone with at least 2+ years experience in mixed practice.  We need someone who’s competent with companion animal work but also enjoys the challenges of large animal practice.

Paddock Vets is a mixed practice with a strong dairy focus, servicing new, modern and progressive dairy farms in the mid Canterbury area as well as sheep and beef properties up the Rakaia and Ashburton Gorge.  We also look after the small animal needs of the Methven Township and surrounding areas.  We have 6 experienced vets and a great support team of tecs and admin staff.

We pride ourselves on being a close knit group of professionals and work hard to create a fun team environment whilst providing the best service and advice for our clients.

You will operate out of a purpose built clinic and all the equipment you will require to perform your duties including a vehicle will be provided.

Methven, is just over an hour SW of Christchurch and offers a great lifestyle.  It’s a fantastic place to live.  A friendly town with plenty of social life, cafes, restaurants and bars and sports and activities of all kinds are available on the doorstep from tennis, squash or rugby to skiing and tramping.  Methven is also the resort town for the Mt Hutt ski field.

It’s also perfect for families with plenty to do and has great schooling with a primary school and high school located in the town - both with a great reputation.

We offer a generous salary package depending on experience and CPD is actively encouraged.  The roster is equally shared 1 in 6 with no evening or weekend clinics and time off in lieu of weekends worked.

I love that the ethos at NVC is to invest in people, treat them well and show them that they are valued. I have certainly felt that.’ – Louise Parry, Lead Veterinarian, Everton Park Veterinary Surgery
