HAMILTON, WAIKATO REGION - FULL TIME SMALL ANIMAL/SPECIALIST, SURGEON New Position
vetsos

Small Animal Surgical Specialist

HAMILTON, NZ

About the role:
As our new surgical specialist, you will be working closely with our resident surgeon and a team of highly dedicated surgical nurses, performing advanced orthopaedic, neurological, oncologic and soft tissue surgery.

Our clinic is already well-equipped with all the equipment you would expect in a specialist referral facility including: a dedicated theatre with filtered positive pressure air flow and quality lighting, digital radiography, an array of orthopaedic air-powered tools, electric and air-powered spinal equipment, arthroscopy, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, etc. Although already highly spec'd, we would be willing to invest in additional equipment that would meet the needs and interests of the successful applicant.

Your key focus will be on working closely with the Senior Specialist surgeon to ensure best practice and grow the referral clinic, both regionally in the Waikato and nationally in conjunction with our South Island team of specialist surgeons at Vetspecs in Christchurch.

About you:
This role could suit either a recently qualified or experienced board certified surgeon with eligibility to be accepted by the ACVS, ECVS, or a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and register as a surgical specialist in NZ. Your skill set should include competence in all areas of orthopaedic, soft tissue, oncologic and spinal surgery however the position could suit an applicant with an interest in soft tissue or oncological surgery and a passion for growing this part of the referral case load.

Above all else, however, we value someone who is a team player; committed to our patients and clients. A calm, relaxed style and a willingness to fit in and be flexible are essential traits.

About VETSOS:
We are a dedicated, small animal surgical referral practice and we work within a purpose built Pet Doctors companion animal clinic in Hamilton. We have our own consultation room and specialised theatre but share other facilities within the general practice. This allows us the flexibility to be part of a larger team and facility as well as the independence to work as an autonomous business. Our Surgical Team is led by Dr Warrick Bruce, who has trained and worked both in NZ and internationally. Dr Bruce invented the TTO procedure for the treatment of canine cruciate disease, which has become the technique of choice for many surgeons around the world.

VetSOS has a key partnership with Vetspecs specialists in Christchurch and works closely with the Pet Doctors Group of clinics around NZ.

Considering a move to Hamilton?
There are relocation package options and support available for candidates who would like to consider moving to the region to take up this rare opportunity.

Waikato is a region of rich diversity. Waikato district offers relaxed, peaceful living. The rural tranquillity and views of farmland and bush are making it increasingly popular for lifestyle living. Many migrants have already made Waikato their home.

How to apply:
For expressions of interest, send your CV and cover note / letter to Ana at talent@nzpetdoctors.co.nz.
