What you can accomplish in the Role
You will have the opportunity to teach and assess final year Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) students and postgraduate students whilst being involved in authentic clinical service delivery in veterinary anaesthesia in the University's on-campus veterinary teaching hospital. Developing and participating directly in clinical research activity, leading to peer-reviewed publications, you will encourage collaborative research and be instrumental in contributing to the management and development of the veterinary science teaching programme, especially in veterinary anaesthesia and related fields at JCU.

What you will bring to the Role
With an enthusiasm and passion for Veterinary science you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary science or equivalent, and be eligible for immediate registration in Queensland. Your formal training in veterinary anaesthesia and a strong interest in, and aptitude for, teaching veterinary Anaesthesia will see you excel in this interesting and rewarding role educating the Vets of the future.

New Position, 3 hours from Brisbane, coastal

FRASER COAST VETERINARY SERVICES has a full time vacancy for an enthusiastic recent or new graduate veterinarian.

The group consists of 2 practices and a smaller branch clinic (which is rapidly expanding). The position will be based at our Maryborough practice, but may require the occasional shift at our branch clinic.

The ideal candidate will have a desire to develop a solid foundation of small animal medicine and surgical skills. An interest in ultrasonography or dentistry would be very well supported.

Our small animal caseload is busy and interesting. While we do offer referral, uptake is minimal due to our location, and most cases are worked up and treated in-house, providing great exposure to exciting medical and surgery cases.

Our team currently consist of 8 veterinarians with varied interests and qualifications, which in combination provide optimum care for our patients. The nursing team and support staff are qualified or studying to gain qualification.

The practices are well equipped with digital x ray, ultrasounds, endoscope, IM3 dental machines, IM3 dental x ray, Idexx procyte and catalyst 1. We use niki or univet drip and syringe pumps and have cardell or surgivet SPO2, capnograph and BP monitors as well as patient warming systems, tonovet and other diagnostic toys.

We are very conscious of requirements for new graduates, and support is provided throughout your development as a veterinarian, especially during the initial 12 months. The job is comprised of 3 shifts a week with opt-in additional shifts paid at additional hourly rates.

This role is not restricted to emergency-only vets: we have a number of general practice vets with after- hours experience who have transitioned well and are flourishing in this role.

At the end of your shift, cases are handed to the next team, so our patients receive around-the-clock care. This means you can relax and enjoy your time off, knowing your patients are looked after, and you don’t get called in to manage inpatients or field after-hours work.
