LONGREACH, CENTRAL WEST - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Longreach Veterinary Service is seeking either an experienced or new grad vet to join our growing team. LVS is a true mixed rural practice, servicing not only the companion, pastoral and equine clients, but also the extensive Northern Australian beef industry.

The clinic is a well-equipped mixed practice, with all the current diagnostic imaging and surgical equipment that is needed to service the wide variety of small and large animal caseloads. The relative isolation of LVS allows the opportunity for thorough medical and surgical work-up of cases which may not be possible if referral centres were closer. This being said, the client base is generally willing to consider referrals when advised.

Extensive work with both the pastoral and horse industries allows vets to pursue personal interests. This includes large-scale beef cattle production and herd-health (including pregnancy testing both manual and with ultrasound, bull testing and general herd health/disease consultation), and equine work (including seasonal repro work, ambulatory cases, surgery, colic’s, medicine cases, and extensive country race work).

Exposure to the extensive North Australian beef industry across the NT may be available to willing members of the team (season and work load permitting). This includes involvement with several corporate beef companies assisting with herd management, extensive pregnancy and bull testing.

Longreach is true western QLD town, with an excellent culture, atmosphere and opportunities. There are numerous sporting and social activities, daily flights to Brisbane and Townsville allows for a serve of urban culture when needed. Jumping straight into the deep end of activities in town is encouraged, with involvement with both the sporting AND social scenes is paramount to a healthy work-life balance! See experiencelongreach.com.au and www.outbackqueensland.com.au/town/longreach

Remuneration and associated package are negotiable; this includes a wage well above the award depending on experience. Short term assistance with accommodation, shared afterhours (generally quite a manageable afterhours work load), relevant RDO’s, 4 weeks’ holiday leave plus 1 week assisted study leave annually. A well-equipped clinic car is available plus a fully paid equine dental course at EVDS*.

The only compulsory requirement of the successful applicant is to be willing to roll their sleeves up and jump straight into the supportive team environment we can offer. Team is the key word at LVS, with the new vet hopefully willing to fit into this and help expand and develop the clinic and services we provide.

Please email your resume and cover letter to the practice manager (ATTN: Laura) longvet@gmail.com or alternatively call the clinic on 07 4658 3838 with any questions.

CLONCURRY, GREAT NORTH WEST REGION - FULL TIME MIXED

Calling veterinarians who are looking to live life outside the box!

We are a 2.5 vet mixed practice based in Cloncurry, in Outback Queensland, and we are looking for another vet to join our team.

OUR PRACTICE

We are a true mixed practice in every sense of the word. We see a wide variety of small animal and equine cases (with the occasional wildlife and exotic case) from Cloncurry and the surrounding districts and have all of the necessary equipment to provide high quality standards of care; DR Digital radiography, inhouse blood and urine analysis, im3 dental equipment, equine dental power float, trailer crush, easi scan ultrasound, and more.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The nearest referral centre is in Townsville approximately 800km away so you will have the opportunity to push your medical and surgical limits and learn skills that you may not have the chance to learn in more urban areas. Some workdays will include visits to surrounding properties for equine work often involving multiple geldings and dentals and also workups of various cases. This is not your average vaccination, after vaccination clinic so if you are looking to be challenged and grow as a veterinarian this is the job for you.

Assisted equine reproduction during the breeding season is also very popular amongst our clients so the successful applicant will have the chance to be involved in both fresh and frozen artificial insemination and problem mare work ups.

A large portion of our work is involved in extensive beef production. This includes large scale foetal ageing, willis speying, bull testing and significant disease investigations. We do not only provide these services, but then work with producers and pastoral companies to improve overall productivity and welfare of their cattle. It is all about the big picture! There is substantial travel involved, which the applicant must be prepared to undertake, however it also brings the opportunity to experience a huge number of remote cattle stations over North West Queensland, the Gulf and into the Northern Territory.

THE LIFESTYLE

Cloncurry and the North West is a very social hub with campdrafts, race-meets and rodeos on most weekends during the drier months. There are various sporting clubs, horse clubs etc to be involved in. Cloncurry is also only 4 hours drive from some of the best fishing in Australia!!

THE POSITION

We are after a positive-minded, energetic vet who is happy to tackle all the challenges and unknowns that mixed practice throws at us. New graduate or experienced vet, we don’t mind, as long as you are willing to learn, we will put the time and effort into training you up. We don’t expect you to be an expert (though if you are that is also great!), but if you are willing to put in the hard yards and have the right attitude you will be amazed by how quickly you will thrive in a clinic such as ours. We value the importance of rest in busy clinics therefore there is an opportunity for the successful applicant to work a 4-day week when in clinic and there are no clinic opening hours on Saturdays or Sundays. Remuneration will be based on experience and is negotiable.

Please send all applications to info@navg.com.au

CENTRAL WEST QLD, LONGREACH WITH TRAVEL ACROSS QLD, NT & WA - MIXED New Graduates welcome

Cattle Work Focused Mixed Animal Veterinarian

Wass Veterinary Services and Longreach Veterinary Service are looking for an experienced or new graduate vet who is willing to learn the ropes for a position based in Longreach but travelling across northern QLD, the NT and into WA.

WVS: This job is ideal for a younger member of the profession with an interest (hopefully passion more than just interest) in travel, extensive cattle work, yet also enough time in an established and well equipped mixed practice to learn or continue to grow all of your practitioner ability on smallies, equine and more intensive cattle/sheep work.

Northern Extensive Cattle work: This aspect of the job involves providing veterinary services to large pastoral stations across northern QLD, the Northern Territory and reaching into the eastern parts of WA. This work revolves heavily around accurate foetal-ageing during herd preg testing to assist northern producers achieve the desired management and segregation systems. On top of large preg testing jobs the vets of WVS also provide extensive Willis speying, VBBSE, herd health/vaccination programs and disease investigations to multiple corporate beef companies (including Australian Ag Co, NAPCO, Kidman, Hancock Ag, Paraway Pastoral and large private enterprises). Relevant and intense training will be provided early on after job commencement to ensure all relevant skills are in place before being let loose.

Extensive travel and driving between stations and regions will be required with option of provided work car or an attractive km rate for own vehicle use. Whilst on farm there is often the opportunity for large scale equine work to cement your dentals, colt castrations and routine stock horse surgery. This side of the job generally extends from April through to October with return to the clinic or leave time available in between jobs.

LVS: During the down time of northern work, the relevant applicant will be based at the Longreach Veterinary Clinic and fulfil all aspects of a rural mixed practitioner as part of the energetic and supportive team that all LVS members provide.

This includes beef cattle production and herd-health (including pregnancy testing both manually and with ultrasound, bull testing and general herd health/disease consultation), and equine work (including seasonal repro work, ambulatory cases, surgery, colic’s, medicine cases, and country race work).

Longreach is a true western QLD town, with an excellent culture, atmosphere and opportunities. There are numerous sporting and social activities, and the daily flights to Brisbane allows a serve of urban culture when needed. Jumping straight into the deep end of activities in town is encouraged, with involvement with both the sporting AND social scenes paramount to a healthy work-life balance!!!

Short-term assistance with accommodation, shared afterhours (generally quite a manageable afterhours work load), 4 weeks’ holiday leave + 1 week assisted study leave annually and relevant RDOs, and a well-equipped clinic car are available. To ensure the correct work/play load is followed, LVS will even cover the cost of an annual sporting or similar membership annually. The only compulsory requirement of the successful applicant is to be willing to roll their sleeves up and jump straight into the supportive team environment we can offer. Team is the key word at LVS, with the new vet hopefully willing to fit into this and to help expand and develop the clinic and services we provide.

This position is available to commence anytime from now through to early 2021 for those looking to graduate later this year.

Wages and package negotiable: Wage and relevant inclusions are negotiable on experience/ suitability but wage will commence at:

HERMIT PARK, TOWNSVILLE - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL

Palms Veterinary Group is a long-established veterinary practice comprised of two small animal clinics in Townsville, North Queensland. We are a friendly, dedicated team of veterinary professionals looking for another vet to join us from December 2020.

Palms Vets is a practice that values patients, clients and staff alike. We pride ourselves on fostering loyal client relationships by delivering a thorough, personal approach to veterinary care for our patients, and we are seeking someone who shares these values. You would be joining a team of 3 vets and 9 support staff. Our two senior vets have over 20 years experience each and are happy to provide support where needed. The nursing team is very experienced and friendly and their co-operative approach ensures that patient care and client satisfaction is of a high standard. If you have a positive professional attitude, great client skills and a thorough clinical approach then we would love to speak to you.

The position would suit a vet with at least three years experience, with a salary to reflect this, however a more recent graduate with a can-do attitude would also be considered. We see an interesting variety of cases, and support local charity and wildlife groups. You would primarily be working at our purpose-built main hospital, with all the usual tools of the trade. Our second clinic is currently undergoing a facelift so will be looking fabulous for your arrival.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The veterinary roster is based on a 38-hour working week. We understand the importance of a good work-life balance and aim to provide this through a flexible roster and adequate time-off, especially after on-call duties. Afterhours duties are kept to a minimum through shared rostering between other clinics and veterinary staff. Annual study leave is provided and if there is a particular area of interest you would like to pursue, this would be supported. Referral services are increasingly available in Townsville, at JCU Veterinary School and with travelling specialists.

We think Townsville is a great place to live! It has all the amenities of a large city, but with no sitting around in traffic and the tropical outdoors waiting to be explored. Regional living has its advantages – it’s more affordable, and we are (currently) COVID – free! Families and young professionals can enjoy a fantastic outdoors lifestyle and find that elusive work-life balance.

We would like to hear from anyone interested in this position – the role is full-time but part-time applicants will also be considered. If you would like to know more about us or this role, or to submit an application please contact:
Kimberley Nagle (Owner) - k.nagle@palmsvetgroup.com.au or

ATHERTON, TABLELANDS - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Veterinarian wanted to join our award-winning, boutique, 3 vet practice on the Atherton Tablelands. You can expect excellent mentorship and exposure to an interesting case load (particularly surgical).

New grads are welcome to apply but our ideal applicant will have at least a year’s experience. Full-time is ideal but we are open to negotiating permanent part-time hours if this is preferred.

Salary is a combination of annual salary plus quarterly bonus (the bonus being a percentage of what you invoice). A rough estimate of total salary on this package would be $80-$85K for 2-3 years experience, $85K-$100K for 3-6 years experience, and $100K+ for 6 years+. Our bonus system means that there is room to grow and to receive a direct financial benefit from the effort you put in. Want to earn more? We are continually growing and evolving as a business and – for the right person – can provide the opportunity to buy into the practice as a director down the track.
