MORANBAH, CENTRAL QLD - MIXED ANIMAL PRACTICE New Graduates welcome

Full Time Position for Mixed Practice Veterinarian

If so, then a position at Moranbah Veterinary Clinic may be the job for you.

Moranbah Veterinary Clinic has had a position become available for either an experienced Vet or a new Graduate to join our mixed practice in Central Queensland.

Like all busy practices we thrive on challenges and enjoy our work. Our location makes the option of referral difficult for some clients, so we get to do a lot of more complex medical and surgical cases ourselves, which is a wonderful asset in professional development.  To allow us to achieve this our equipment includes (but is not limited to) the following:

Digital X-Rays, full IM3 dental set up, SA ultrasound, complete in-house IDEXX laboratory, multiple fluid pumps and syringe drivers, BM5 patient monitor, Bovie electrosurgery cautery unit, tonopen, corneal algerbrush, equine power float, pregnancy test ultrasound, plus full range of surgical equipment and monitoring to perform most surgeries including orthopaedics.

Every day is different in Rural Practice, and we do approximately:

Moranbah is a thriving community with a good range of shops, sporting clubs, gyms and places to eat (yes, we do have a McDonalds).  Moranbah is only a couple of hours from the coast and about 3 hours from the Whitsundays, as well as all the other opportunities and spots in the Central Highlands. There are several daily flights to Brisbane and we have a roster that allows time for these leisure activities to happen.

WE offer a good work life balance with weekly RDO’s, and time off as well for weekends worked. The roster is 1 in 4 for all after hours and weekends. We offer a generous salary package well above the award (please talk to us about what you would like), with regular increases (and no, you don’t have to ask for them), 4 weeks annual leave, 1 week study leave and a contribution of $2500 to go towards CPD attendance. We offer VIN access and availability for all VetEd webinars.

You don’t have to just believe me, please ring our Clinic and ask to speak to Olivia or Ashley who would be working with you; that is the best guarantee I can give towards a good job with great support.

For anything else you would like to know please ring James Staunton on 0407 415 876

Please send applications to james@moranbahvet.com.au

CAIRNS, FAR NORTH QLD - SMALL ANIMAL EMERGENCY

Want to try Emergency but worried it’s too hard? Don’t think you know enough CPR or ‘fancy fluid therapy’? That’s where we can help, everyone starts somewhere and we are a hospital dedicated to ongoing learning and supporting our staff.

Emergency Vets 24/7 is looking for an enthusiastic vet ready to make the leap into the exciting world of emergency. We believe that well supported and encouraged GP vets are perfect for the position. You will have much more experience than you think, as much of our work is the exciting side of GP, but you get to do it with better equipment and often more time per case. We have easy to use guidelines to help with case management, a very experienced and supportive nursing team and a management team who also work on the floor. There is support for the difficult surgeries if needed and we offer in house training, one on one seminars, paid shadow shifts, external CPD and we are offering moving costs.

Cairns is a great place for families, and it’s still a growing and vibrant city with opportunities for partners and children. Full time is only 3 shifts a week, usually arranged months in advance, allowing you to plan your life fully.

If shift work is concerning you, then you might be pleasantly surprised. Many of our staff expect nights to be difficult but wind up finding them the most rewarding. Unlike on call GP work, you’ll never have to go back to work 3 hours after you finish your call out.

Best of all, you really get to help the animals most in need, and when you leave at the end of the shift, you know your patients still have a team working on them. Your patients never get left overnight with the drip pump screaming because they kinked it 20 minutes after you left, or not get their pain relief because there is no-one to give it, we’ll show you how to set up a FLK CRI that gets monitored. And when you find something that we can improve on, we implement it!

If this sounds like your thing, email richard@emergencyvets247.com.au

CLONCURRY, GREAT NORTH WEST REGION - FULL TIME MIXED

Calling veterinarians who are looking to live life outside the box!

We are a 2.5 vet mixed practice based in Cloncurry, in Outback Queensland, and we are looking for another vet to join our team.

OUR PRACTICE

We are a true mixed practice in every sense of the word. We see a wide variety of small animal and equine cases (with the occasional wildlife and exotic case) from Cloncurry and the surrounding districts and have all of the necessary equipment to provide high quality standards of care; DR Digital radiography, inhouse blood and urine analysis, im3 dental equipment, equine dental power float, trailer crush, easi scan ultrasound, and more.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The nearest referral centre is in Townsville approximately 800km away so you will have the opportunity to push your medical and surgical limits and learn skills that you may not have the chance to learn in more urban areas. Some workdays will include visits to surrounding properties for equine work often involving multiple geldings and dentals and also workups of various cases. This is not your average vaccination, after vaccination clinic so if you are looking to be challenged and grow as a veterinarian this is the job for you.

Assisted equine reproduction during the breeding season is also very popular amongst our clients so the successful applicant will have the chance to be involved in both fresh and frozen artificial insemination and problem mare work ups.

A large portion of our work is involved in extensive beef production. This includes large scale foetal ageing, willis speying, bull testing and significant disease investigations. We do not only provide these services, but then work with producers and pastoral companies to improve overall productivity and welfare of their cattle. It is all about the big picture! There is substantial travel involved, which the applicant must be prepared to undertake, however it also brings the opportunity to experience a huge number of remote cattle stations over North West Queensland, the Gulf and into the Northern Territory.

THE LIFESTYLE

Cloncurry and the North West is a very social hub with campdrafts, race-meets and rodeos on most weekends during the drier months. There are various sporting clubs, horse clubs etc to be involved in. Cloncurry is also only 4 hours drive from some of the best fishing in Australia!!

THE POSITION

We are after a positive-minded, energetic vet who is happy to tackle all the challenges and unknowns that mixed practice throws at us. New graduate or experienced vet, we don’t mind, as long as you are willing to learn, we will put the time and effort into training you up. We don’t expect you to be an expert (though if you are that is also great!), but if you are willing to put in the hard yards and have the right attitude you will be amazed by how quickly you will thrive in a clinic such as ours. We value the importance of rest in busy clinics therefore there is an opportunity for the successful applicant to work a 4-day week when in clinic and there are no clinic opening hours on Saturdays or Sundays. Remuneration will be based on experience and is negotiable.

Please send all applications to info@navg.com.au

EAST BUNDABERG, WIDE BAY BURNETT REGION - FULL TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

East Bundaberg Veterinary Hospital - Associate Veterinary position available

Position for a motivated veterinary associate who wants to work in a comfortable well-equipped air-conditioned small animal veterinary hospital being supported by well trained and caring nursing staff as well as extensively experienced and qualified senior veterinarians.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We would encourage both experienced veterinarians and new graduate veterinarians to read this advertisement and apply for this position if you are interested.

We are a highly qualified and equipped practice and offer the best of advice and treatments to our patients. We enjoy a friendly relationship with our clients, and we have an exceptional reputation for excellence and for results. Our workload revolves around dogs (70%), cats (25%) and avian (5%).

We are NOT a corporate business, nor do we not put money as being the primary reason for our business to exist. Having said that we do understand that making a profit is important so we can pay our staff what they are worth as well as acquiring good equipment and facilities to make our working life very rewarding and enjoyable.

We do not set KPI’s that staff must meet, we do not dictate to our veterinary staff on how they are to treat but we do encourage discussion with other veterinary staff members so that appropriate treatments and advise can be offered to the owners.

We believe that to offer a high level of animal care we must have the time to discuss problems with the owners as well as time to examine the patient and time to do appropriate tests or treatments and discuss the outcomes with the owners. Consequently, we do not “pump through” our clientele and their furry friends.

We believe coming to work must be enjoyable for all staff members and we encourage each member of the staff to achieve the level of expertise and comfort that they have set for themselves. We encourage further education for all our veterinary staff and that includes conference leave (when we can get to conferences) every year, webinars, seminars, discussion between vets, membership to organisations such as the AVA and VIN and extensive library material both on computers and well as books and journals.

we hold staff meetings every week and we have a vet meeting every morning before work where any problems or queries can be discussed and (hopefully) solutions found. We have active participation in our puppy preschool as well as dog walks every month and puppy reunions every 3 months.

Veterinary Science, to us, is a way of life and we are looking for that caring qualified person who wants to join our team and develop their professional and personal skills to a high level.

We could go on and on about the equipment and the hospital itself, we could go on and on about Bundaberg and the surrounding areas with all its facilities. But you can get all the information you need by going onto the internet at our site www.eastbundabergvet.com.au or you could open up or Bundaberg tourism site www.bundabergregion.org.

What are we offering to do for the successful applicant?

  1. This is a full-time position.
  2. Pay an “above award” wage in the 3-month trial period (wage starts at $60,000.00 for new graduate or 1st year graduate and goes up according to experience) and then negotiate a wage that is commensurate with your experience and expertise once the trial period is over.
  3. 6 weeks holiday every year.
  4. 1 week conference leave every year.
  5. All afterhours is on a rotational basis with other full-time staff members ( we have a very low level of afterhour calls)
  6. Half day off each week
  7. After working on a weekend – 3-day weekend on the following week
  8. Constant support (including in afterhour work) if required (depends on level of experience, expertise and the level of confidence in the successful applicant)
  9. Monetary assistance with relocation and 1st year rent – to be negotiated with successful applicant.

What do we want in return?

  1. Enthusiasm for health and wellbeing of our patients
  2. Enthusiasm for successful outcomes to treatments as well as preventions
  3. Enthusiasm for profession and ongoing education
  4. Enthusiasm for the ongoing success of the business
  5. Enthusiasm to work in a team.
  6. Sense of humour and have the ability to laugh at oneself.
  7. Want to assist other staff members and participate in out-of- hour activities.
  8. Have an open mind with new ideas and new concepts of animal health care.
  9. Ability to leave your ego at the door when you enter.
  10. Ability to laugh WITH the staff and clients and not laugh AT the staff and clients.
  11. Have a positive attitude to life in general and to look to the future with wonder and excitement.

HERMIT PARK, TOWNSVILLE - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL

Palms Veterinary Group is a long-established veterinary practice comprised of two small animal clinics in Townsville, North Queensland. We are a friendly, dedicated team of veterinary professionals looking for another vet to join us from mid-March 2021.

Palms Vets is a practice that values patients, clients and staff alike. We pride ourselves on fostering loyal client relationships by delivering a thorough, personal approach to veterinary care for our patients, and we are seeking someone who shares these values. You would be joining a team of 3 vets and 9 support staff. Our two senior vets have over 20 years experience each and are happy to provide support where needed. The nursing team is very experienced and friendly and their co-operative approach ensures that patient care and client satisfaction is of a high standard. If you have a positive professional attitude, great client skills and a thorough clinical approach then we would love to speak to you.

The position would suit a vet with at least three years experience, with a salary to reflect this, however a more recent graduate with a can-do attitude would also be considered. We see an interesting variety of cases, and support local charity and wildlife groups. You would primarily be working at our purpose-built main hospital, with all the usual tools of the trade. Our second clinic is currently undergoing a facelift so will be looking fabulous for your arrival.

The veterinary roster is based on a 38-hour working week. We understand the importance of a good work-life balance and aim to provide this through a flexible roster and adequate time-off, especially after on-call duties. Afterhours duties are kept to a minimum through shared rostering between other clinics and veterinary staff. Annual study leave is provided and if there is a particular area of interest you would like to pursue, this would be supported. Referral services are increasingly available in Townsville, at JCU Veterinary School and with travelling specialists.

We think Townsville is a great place to live! It has all the amenities of a large city, but with no sitting around in traffic and the tropical outdoors waiting to be explored. Regional living has its advantages – it’s more affordable, and we are (currently) COVID – free! Families and young professionals can enjoy a fantastic outdoors lifestyle and find that elusive work-life balance.

We would like to hear from anyone interested in this position – the role is full-time but part-time applicants will also be considered. If you would like to know more about us or this role, or to submit an application please contact:
