Gympie Veterinary Services a 13 vet mixed practice in S.E. Queensland is seeking the services of a mixed practice veterinarian to commence early in 2011. Unfortunately 2 of our associates have got the UK bug and will be leaving us at the end of this year.

We are a truly mixed practice servicing dairy, beef, pleasure and racing horses, some small farm animals and companion animals. We have all the usual toys that are required for running a large mixed practice including multiple large and small animal ultrasounds, digital CR radiography, endoscope, powerfloats, computerised clinic (Idexx Cornerstone), vetscan machine, HM5 haematology, IM5 dental machine, enough orthopaedic gear to carry out TTO, plating, pinnings and ex-fixes, pulse ox (multiple), Blood pressure monitors, full bull testing kits, and lots of other toys for you to play with.
Being a large practice we have the ability to allow our associates to pursue special interests but we believe in giving associates a good grounding in all areas of mixed practice. After hours is shared and there is always someone available to support new grads. All of our staff are young and young at heart and as such we pride ourselves on being a modern progressive practice.

Gympie is a large regional centre located in the northern part of SE Qld. We have two small animal only practices at Morayfield and Narangba. They are situated within an easy vicinity of the train stations approximately 35 km from the Brisbane CBD. We are only 40 km south of the beautiful beaches and hinterland of the Sunshine Coast and 20 kms from numerous beaches and bays on Bribie Island. The Glass House Mountains, less than 15 km away, offer scenic walks and picnic areas. The area also boasts reputable private schools and other educational and sporting facilities. It is a rapidly growing area and our challenge is to embrace this expansion expediently and competently. Both practices are staffed with highly qualified, friendly competent experienced and dedicated nurses.

Our equipment boasts new XRay machine en route to upgrading to digital mode. Both practices have dental prophy machines and Vetscan biochemical and haematology units as well as Isofluorane gaseous anaesthetic machines with in circuit vaporisers. We are fully computerised with the Vet Care software system. Both practices are cross linked. JCU UniVet Pty Ltd, Townsville, is looking for experienced and enthusiastic veterinarians to become part of our emergency and critical care team in the veterinary clinical centre. The hospital referral base includes not only Townsville itself, but the whole of tropical North Queensland – ensuring your workload is significant, varied, and interesting!

Your duties will include emergency and critical care case management of hospital, referral, and after-hours admissions to the Veterinary Emergency Centre and Hospital, and assisting in informal training of final year veterinary students on rotation within the emergency centre. A keen desire to practice excellence in emergency and critical care, to pursue further study, good communication skills, patience and a sense of humour would be desirable personal attributes.

WARWICK - MIXED PRACTICE New Position

Full-time Vet for Mixed Practice

A full-time veterinarian is wanted to start in our 3 vet clinic between now and early next year.
A vet with 2-3 years experience is preferred, but new or intending new graduates may apply.

The work load is 75-80% small animals, with the remainder split predominantly between horses and cows. There is a very good mix of medicine & surgery cases, but little equine reproduction work.

Senior Clinician – Small Animal Medicine and Surgery

This position is located at the new Veterinary Medical Centre on the Gatton campus and reports to the Director, Veterinary Clinical and Diagnostic Services.

The role: To work as a senior clinician in a fully functional primary care veterinary practice, a business conducted by The University of Queensland. To promote and develop expertise in small animal medicine and surgery. To participate in student rotations, clinical rounds and other teaching related to entry-level clinical skills. Together these activities will provide outcomes beneficial for animals, their owners, and veterinary students. As part of a clinical team of three general practitioners, you will display excellent skills and knowledge of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery in a general practice setting, and play a leading role in the teaching of clinical and diagnostic skills, client communication skills, and general practice management skills to veterinary students. You will be responsible for the maintenance of exemplary clinical standards in the Small Animal Veterinary Hospital.

The person: Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines and have extensive relevant small animal experience (minimum four years) in veterinary practice. The successful candidate will need to have outstanding communication skills and a strong commitment to working as part of a cohesive clinical team.

Remuneration: $72,913 – $81,872 p.a. (HEW Level 8), plus 9% super (total package will be in the range $79,475 – $89,240 p.a.). Full-time, 12 months fixed-term appointment, with opportunity for renewal based on performance and business need.

Mount Isa has been established for near 90 years. During this period the population has grown to nearly 30,000 people. The Animal Welfare League Qld is the largest Animal Welfare Shelter in Queensland and also the largest S.A. Veterinary practice in Queensland employing 15 veterinarians engaged in private S.A. practice and S.A. welfare shelter work.

In 2010, 2 UQ BONDED SCHOLARSHIPS were awarded.

The AWL Qld is offering 2 bonded scholarships to final year UQ Veterinary Students to commence work in 2011.

One scholarship is to work in the SA Private Hospital and 1 scholarship is for working in the Shelter Hospital.

The Scholarship is for $5000 each payable August -September 2010. The successful applicant(s) would be bonded to work for the AWL Qld as a S.A. veterinarian for a minimum of 18 months.

We are looking for a mixed or small animal veterinarian to join our 2.5 vet, 3 nurse team. Our clinic is open 8am-6pm on weekdays and 8am-1pm on Saturdays. Pay rate is negotiable and dependent on level of experience but is well above award rates. Work hours are also negotiable; a four day week with shared after hours and weekends is the norm.

WESTERN DARLING DOWNS - MIXED PRACTICE New Position

POSITION VACANT FULL TIME VET
LOCATION:
Maranoa Veterinary Surgery, Roma
TYPE OF WORK: 60% Small Animal 25% Bovine 15% Equine

DESCRIPTION: An experienced veterinarian is required to work at this three and a half vet practice in central Queensland. This position would ideally suit someone wanting to work in mixed practice although special interests are encouraged. The small animal side of this practice is very busy with a clientele willing to support case work-ups. The bovine work is beef cattle and includes pregnancy testing, calvings, caesareans, bull testing and individual sick cow medicine. Equine work includes some reproductive work and routine equine calls.

The practice is housed in a large, purpose built facility which is fully air conditioned. The practice is well equipped with, amongst other things, a good quality x-ray system, ultrasound and ultrasonic dental machine. Equine handling facilities have recently been completed and include an indoor radiography and ultrasound suite, nine stables, crush and round yard. The computer system is running on the most recent version of RxWorks.

Clinic hours are 8am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays. The Vet on call also consults between 9am and 12 noon on Saturdays.

The practice is situated in attractive pastoral, cattle rearing country with a rich and interesting history. There is a large population of young working people in the area which is well served by shops, pubs and restaurants. Flights to Brisbane run daily.

AFTER HOURS: 1:3 Rota.

REMUNERATION: Wage above award and based on experience level, negotiable. After hours bonuses paid. For the appropriate candidate looking to stay greater than 12 months, a bonus wage system that includes payment based on income generated through the practice, will be implemented.
