MURGON, SOUTH BURNETT - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcome
south burnett

SBVets is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic mixed practice veterinarian. The successful applicant will be adding to the existing 3 veterinarian team, which includes one part-time/advisory veterinarian with over 40years experience. The veterinary team is complimented by a lovely team of experienced nurses.

Competence in cattle and equine practice is preferred, and the successful applicant must be willing to support an on call and weekend rotation. New and recent graduates are also welcome to apply.

The business has three long established clinics at Murgon, Kingaroy, and Wondai, with days at all clinics being shared amongst the veterinarians. The practices are truly mixed, with 60% small animal cases, and 40% large animal cases (beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, and occasionally small ruminants). We have a very varied caseload, and due to our semi-rural location, most clients are happy for us to work up cases that may typically be referred in larger cities - saying this, we do have referral options to the South and East.

The clinics are equipped with all the mod-cons, such as digital radiographic equipment, in-house CBC and biochem machines, dental machines, Vision computer systems, ultrasound machine, and on-call work phones. The clinics are open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, with a half day Saturday at two of the three clinics.

The South Burnett region is a vibrant rural community. There is great opportunity to find a work-life balance with many local wineries, sporting facilities, local pubs, fishing and water sport facilities. The area is also family-friendly, with both public and private schools available close-by.

After-hours is shared with two other vets (1 in 3 weekends) with equal distribution of public holidays. A four day week follows any weekend spent on call. Above award salary package is offered, with one week study leave and four weeks annual leave inclusive. Salary package is negotiable and commensurate with experience, with an opportunity for partnership existing in the future for the right candidate.

If you have any questions in relation to this position, please contact Chris on 0429 073 758 or Amanda on 0428 600 337 Applications can be emailed to our Practice Principal Chris Braithwaite at cbraithwaite@sbvets.com.au or our Practice Manager Amanda Yappa at ayappa@sbvets.com.au

INNISFAIL, CASSOWARY COAST - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcome
tropical

We are looking for a new vet…

What we have:

Great staff:
our nurses love coming to work, so much so that they even tell us this. Some of our vets even have the audacity to leave us after a few years and then want to come back! (we let them)

Great equipment:
idexx machines, digital xrays, ultrasounds, endoscopes and many other expensive machines that go ping.

Great environment:
Tropical North Queensland. Cairns to the north and Ayr to the south. Brisbane is 2 hours away by plane. Rainforest out our window, Great Barrier Reef on our door step, bushwalking, mountain biking, fishing, cultural events, sporting clubs and groups a plenty.

Great bosses:
We will give you $4000 per year to spend on your own continuing education. We will let you have a go at anything and be ready to guide you along when you need it.

Great conditions:
We offer well above the award wage with a base salary starting at $70,000 or more depending on experience. You will work a 4 day week (most of the time) and do on call every 3 weeks. Our after-hours payments are very generous. We have 3 nurses for every 2 vets so there is always somebody around to give you a helping hand.

Options to refer those nasty cases:
We have the ability to refer those things we can't sort out. There are travelling specialists (surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology) that come past every month or so. However we also get to manage a lot of these things within our clinics because amongst our staff we have a lot of vets with special interests - Avian, Equine Repro, Cattle Repro, Wildlife and exotics just to name a few.

What you should do:
Have a look at our recruitment video: https://www.facebook.com/tropicalvetservices/videos/1724150210974248/; check us out on facebook or at www.tropicalvets.com.au and give Jaci a call at our North Shore clinic on 07 4774 8764 or send her an email at jaci@tropicalvets.com.au

BUNDABERG, WIDE BAY BURNETT REGION - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

POSITION AVAILABLE FOR VETERINARIAN AT REGISTERED VETERINARY HOSPITAL IN BUNDABERG

Registered veterinary hospital dealing only with small animals in the coastal city of Bundaberg has a position available for a Veterinarian who has a desire to work in comfortable surrounds, with sophisticated equipment, with experienced senior vets and with loads of support. New graduates are welcome to apply.

East Bundaberg Veterinary Hospital employs 3 veterinarians and 7 lay staff. (Our primary aim over the next year is to develop into a “4 Vet practice” and successful applicant will be vital part of this development.) We aim to supply the best of veterinary care to our customers and their animals as well as offering continuing training sessions to all staff members. We are immensely proud of the level of expertise we offer to our clients and we intend to continue to offer this “top of the shelf quality service” in the years to come.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We are privately owned and we allow our veterinarians to practice individual treatments. We do not dictate “how” each vet treats their animals but we encourage all our vets (and staff) to continually discuss their cases and their treatments with the other veterinarians.

Because the nearest specialist is over 3.5 hours’ drive away, most cases that we deal with are treated in our veterinary hospital. That means that we are more experienced than most veterinarians in the bigger cities and we are able to follow our cases through from the beginning to the end.

We offer a 24 hour emergency service and that means all our vets need to be “on duty” at least one night each week and at least one weekend in 3 weeks. The week after a working weekend the vet gets two days off so that our vets are not overworked.

We have two businesses – one in Bundaberg and a branch practice in Bargara and all associate vets are put on a roster to work at the branch practice each week.

Bundaberg and Bargara are situated on the coast at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef and our area offers a huge variety of social and sporting activities. We are only 4.5 hours’ drive from Brisbane and our climate is the same as Hawaii.

I could go on and on about our business and the quality of veterinary science we offer, I could also go on and on about the area and its lovely climate and friendly people but all I will do is to recommend anyone who wants to work in a quality practice, who wants to really learn and gain a ton of experience, who wants to really enjoy their professional life as well as their social life and is willing to work hard and be responsible for their actions and decisions, who wants to become a “good vet” – then this could be the business that is right for you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic vet (experienced or new grad) with excellent communication skills to join our team - more than one position may be available.

The location: Roma is home to the largest cattle selling complex in Australia. It’s a bustling mid sized country town with all necessary shops, a cinema and sporting facilities. Roma is also home to the famous Roma Cup, Easter in the Country and Roma’s Running of the Wieners (an annual Dachshund event with over 70 Dachshunds in attendance 2017). The stunning Carnarvon Gorge National Park is only 2.5 hours drive away making for a perfect day bush walk or camping weekend. There are daily flights to Brisbane (50mins and at locals rates!) for city weekend getaways and easy conference access, or a 5 hour drive. With 8 race meets a year, camel races, yabbie races, rodeos, doggy events, food festivals and more there is plenty to do in this country town!

The work: We are a real mixed practice with approx. 60% Small animal and some wildlife and pocket pets and 40% large animal (predominately beef cattle and equine, and some dairy cattle, goats, and sheep) depending on the time of year. There is potential for growth in the cattle, equine and small animal sectors so special interests will be nurtured.

The facilities: The practice is well equipped, and we pride ourselves on providing the highest standard of veterinary care possible- Vetscan biochemistry, overnight Idexx turnaround, 5 infusion pumps, RX works, im3 dental machine, digital xray, Mindray ultrasound (small animal and equine), BCF Duoscan (cattle ultrasound), Lane pulsator EEJ, the latest technology ‘i sperm’ for reproductive work, and equine powerfloat. We also have an established “Mentors list” so we can network with these contacts on those tricker cases.  With a great set up for our patients, we are proud of our separate cat ward and equine facility with crush, 9 stables and surgery yard. For our large animal work a well-equipped, purpose designed, tidy work ute is offered to ensure quality service to our clients further afield.

Clients: We have a fabulous client base and a genuine rapport with many of them  and we attribute this to our excellent service and top communication skills.

The diverse support team consists of 4 veterinary nurses and 2 kennel hands with a variety of skills from small animal groomings, office organisation to handling horses. They all enjoy getting out and engaging in the community including competing in rodeos, campdrafts and photography competitions.
