GYMPIE, WIDE BAY-BURNETT REGION - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Bent Street Vet is a growing family owned small animal only practice requires another vet.  We are a very well respected and trusted business within the local community.  Don't miss this opportunity to join our energetic and experienced team.  You'll get a better pay rate, treated as a trusted member of the community, can drive almost anywhere in town in under 10 minutes and still have reasonable housing or rental values.  With the new highway upgrades the coast is less than an hour away when you want it.

Gympie and the Cooloola Shire is a growing centre servicing approximately 50,000 people.  There are many sporting, service and other clubs.  There are enough coffee shops and restaurants for entertainment.  Most importantly you'll actually be able to afford to eat there.  Gympie is centrally located to the Sunshine Coast, Rainbow Beach, Double Island Point, Fraser Island, National Parks, hiking trails and all the outdoor activities you could wish for.  The roster is flexible with current staff working a 4 day week with fixed RDO day weekly, so there is plenty of time to explore locally.

The practice was established in the 80's with a new owner taking over 5 years ago and driving a significant growth and continuous replacement of all equipment.  We have 3 isoflurane anaesthetic machines with heated circuits, respirator, IDEXX in house bloods (biochem and haematology), iStat blood gases, clotting analyser, digital xray, piped oxygen (with 30lpm O2 generator), monitors with CO2, Ultrasound, iM3 dental unit and are about to take delivery of an iM3 dental xray unit.  There is plenty left in the equipment budget to fill any holes that you may feel need to be filled.  Most importantly we have clients who want to pay us to use them.

The work is varied from loved fur babies to those that just want today’s problem fixed, routine vaccinations etc, lots of surgical and medical cases, to lots emergency stitch up, abscess, poisoning and envenomation cases.  Very few clients want them referred off and would rather have us do the work up and treatment here.  They are generally very understanding of the limitations of modern medicine and while they will try anything for a good outcome, understand that's not always possible.  We have visiting surgical specialist and cardiac and general ultrasound services as needed.

We are looking for someone to join our team and help grow our clinic and help us treat our clients to the kind of service expected in a strong community.  We need someone who'll take responsibility and lead in their case management and happily work as part of a team to help each other solve the trickier cases and pitch in on a big day.

The pay is well above award and does require inclusion in the after hours roster.  There is very generous compensation for afterhours work.  You will be paid an hourly rate for all of your work, but generally don't require much outside of your rostered hours.  We are flexible on most requirements, with good pay rates and adequate time off to enjoy life.

LONGREACH, CENTRAL WEST - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcome

Are you looking for some REAL work in a REAL QLD country town? And the opportunity to travel from Longreach to Birdsville to Kununurra.

Then Longreach Vet Service may have the perfect position for you. Longreach Vets is seeking either a new-grad or experienced vet to join their growing team. LVS is a true mixed rural practice, servicing not only the companion, pastoral and equine clients, but also the extensive Northern Australian beef industry and live export industry.

The clinic is a well-equipped mixed practice, with all the current diagnostic imaging and surgical equipment that is needed to service the wide variety of small and large animal caseloads. The relative isolation of LVS allows the opportunity for thorough medical and surgical work-up of cases which may not be possible if referral centres were closer. This being said, the client base is generally willing to consider referrals when advised.

Extensive work with both the pastoral and horse industries allows vets to pursue personal interests. This includes large-scale beef cattle production and herd-health (including pregnancy testing both manually and with ultrasound, bull testing and general herd health/disease consultation), and equine work (including seasonal repro work, ambulatory cases, surgery, colic’s, medicine cases, and extensive country race work).

Exposure to the extensive Northern Australian beef and live export industry across the NT may be available to willing members of the team (season and work load permitting). This includes involvement with several corporate beef companies assisting with herd management, extensive pregnancy and bull testing, and both pre-voyage and on-board veterinary work with export boats.

Longreach is a true western QLD town, with an excellent culture, atmosphere and opportunities. There are numerous sporting and social activities, and daily flights to Brisbane allows a serve of urban culture when needed. Jumping straight into the deep end of activities in town is encouraged, with involvement with both the sporting AND social scenes paramount to a healthy work-life balance!!! longreachtourism.com.au

Remuneration and associated package are negotiable. This includes wage well above award depending on experience, short-term assistance with accommodation, shared afterhours (generally quite a manageable afterhours work load), 4 weeks’ holiday leave + 1 week assisted study leave annually and relevant RDO's, well-equipped clinic car available. To ensure the correct work/play load is followed, LVS will even cover the cost of an annual sporting or similar membership annually.

The only compulsory requirement of the successful applicant is to be willing to roll their sleeves up and jump straight into the supportive team environment we can offer. Team is the key word at LVS, with the new vet hopefully willing to fit into this and to help expand and develop the clinic and Services we provide.

Please contact the practice manager on 07 4658 3838, or alternatively email longvet@gmail.com

I love that the ethos at NVC is to invest in people, treat them well and show them that they are valued. I have certainly felt that.’ – Louise Parry, Lead Veterinarian, Everton Park Veterinary Surgery
