Adelaide Animal Emergency and Referral Centre (AAERC) Adelaide SA (posted 23rd September) Permanent Part Time Receptionist

Part-time Receptionist
Adelaide Animal Emergency and Referral Centre

The Adelaide Animal Emergency and Referral Centre (AAERC) is looking for a Permanent Part Time Receptionist to join our dynamic team.

About the AAERC

The Adelaide Animal Emergency & Referral Centre is a twenty-four-hour emergency and referral centre on the SW fringe of Adelaide’s CBD. We offer emergency care to small animals seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Besides our ER function, our referral services operate weekdays in the disciplines of dentistry, medicine, surgery and cardiology.

About the role

The reception role is one of the most important roles we have. As a receptionist at our busy emergency and referral centre, you will be the “face” and “voice” of the clinic to pet owners as well as our referring veterinarians. Internally, you’ll be liaising with nurses, veterinarians, specialists and management.

A key part of the job is managing the waiting room. As we are an ER centre, emotions can run high and triage skills are a must to ensure the best patient care outcomes. Of course, you will have a group of professionals to offer support and a close-knit, fun reception team to keep things in perspective.
Reception shifts start as early as 07:00, while our late shifts can finish as late as 22:00. This is a permanent part time position with varying shifts across the entire week.

About You

Your communication skills are high. You recognize the importance of customer service in a clinic setting and can also work with the various departments to help coordinate their workflow. To be successful in this position you will need to have effective communication and interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on customer service. We work within a small professional community and getting back to people and developing trust is key to success in this role.

You will need to have worked in a veterinary clinic, as your knowledge will need to be applied in an emergency/triage environment where hard decisions sometimes need to be made. Customers can be difficult, and you need to be able to keep a level, professional demeanour.

You need to be comfortable working with computers. We use EzyVet software, but specific package experience will be considered a bonus rather than as a requirement.

You will need to work effectively in a team environment while also having the ability to work independently as the circumstances dictate.

How to Apply

If you are ready for a challenging, up front role in a busy ER/Referral Centre then apply now. Applications must include a cover letter and current curriculum vitae to be emailed to Elisha Barrow at: quoting job number ES2071.
