The House Call Vet After Hours service is a unique after hours house call service covering all areas of Brisbane. Like the house call doctors service for people, THCV After Hours sees cases that are not severe enough for referral to an emergency facility but need treatment before their regular vet is next open. Common cases include eye/skin/ear problems, lameness, vomiting/diarrhoea, and urinary issues. Home euthanasia is also a very important part of our service.

Unlike other vet to home services that expect you to provide your own vehicle, drugs and equipment, THCV After Hours ensures you are fully supported. We set you up with everything you need to practice great medicine, which means that all you need to bring to work is yourself.

CARRARA, GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMAL MEDICINE SENIOR CLINICAL COORDINATOR

Senior Clinical Coordinator

Are you an internal medicine specialist who enjoys clinical practice but loves teaching even more?

Do you have high level clinical skills and knowledge that you would like to pass on to the next generation of medicine residents?

Do you like the challenge of a busy environment with complex cases but maybe would like to a take a supervisor role rather than being at the coalface?

The Opportunity

Training residents and supporting them on their journey to specialisation has always been a core part of our business. Providing the right type of training and having the time to train residents in clinical practice is extremely challenging. Managing your own workload and creating a learning environment isn’t easy. This has led us to believe the best way to do this is to create the position of a Senior Clinical Coordinator whose sole job is to supervise medicine resident’s clinical work and academic study. This is not a clinical position and face to face with clients is not expected.

About Us

Veterinary Specialist Services is an established Small Animal referral practice in South East Queensland.  This role would be based at our Carrara practice on the beautiful Gold Coast.  We are striving to create an environment where people can do their best work.  We have many things to work on to get there, but we are adapting as fast as possible.  Our teams are very passionate about delivering patient care and support each other to do it.  We have a very diverse skill set and can offer just about all specialties, diagnostic modalities and therapies across our practice group.  We have residency training programs for vets, in house training programs for nurses and over the years, about 20% of our interns have gone on to become registered Specialists.  We are involved in the industry with wide participation in professional groups, universities, continuing education courses and we have our own conference.

Please click here to see photos! photos

What we are looking for

Why we hope you’ll want to join us

Why you might not want to join us

Interested?

Please either submit your CV and a covering letter to us at HR@vss.net.au, or contact Lorraine Connon (Carrara’s practice manager) if you’d like any more information.  We understand the employment market for Veterinarians is competitive and are happy to talk about remuneration.  We’ve got the policies and support programs you’d expect from a larger practice.  You can check out our website (vss.net.au), have a look at our Veterinary Resource Area, https://www.vss.net.au/vss-resource-area.html or let us know if you’d like to talk to one of our team members for some unbiased feedback on how things are in the clinic.

CARRARA, GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMAL/SPECIALIST - INTERNAL MEDICINE New Position

Are you a Small Animal Internal Medicine specialist or registrar who enjoys a work environment where a complex case load is managed by a genuine multi-disciplinary team?

Would you like to be part of a workplace where the aim is to allow the vets to do the medicine and the practice creates an environment and staff mix to manage the other parts of day-to-day practice?

Most if not all Veterinary practices have become significantly busier over the last 12 months.  We have not been immune to this and are adapting our teams and processes with the aim of delivering the excellent patient care we are known for, while trying to provide our team with the working environment that is sustainable for them.  This is a big challenge!  We need the right people to help us manage our case load, and this has led to a number of new roles being created.  We would like to increase our team size in the internal medicine department, specifically at our Carrara hospital.  The Carrara hospital is currently the only specialist referral practice servicing Queensland’s Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales.  We have a wide and varied case load derived from a diverse client base (ranging from the urban Gold Coast to rural Northern NSW) with high levels of owner commitment and compliance.

About Us
Veterinary Specialist Services is an established Small Animal referral practice in South East Queensland.  This role would be based at our Carrara practice on the beautiful Gold Coast.  We are striving to create an environment where people can do their best work.  We have many things to work on to get there, but we are adapting as fast as possible.  Our teams are very passionate about delivering patient care and support each other to do it.  We have a very diverse skill set and can offer just about all specialities, diagnostic modalities and therapies across our practice group.  We have residency training programs for vets, in house training programs for nurses and over the years, about 20% of our interns have gone on to become registered Specialists.  We are involved in the industry with wide participation in professional groups, universities, continuing education courses and we have our own conference.  The Carrara hospital specifically has specialists, registrars and residents with training in Internal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery, Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Emergency and Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Animal Physiotherapy.

GOLD COAST, MERMAID WATERS - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Full Time New/Recent Graduate Position

Attention All New and Recent Veterinary Graduates:

We are extending an invitation to all soon-to-be and recent graduates to consider a full time position at Mermaid Vet on the Gold Coast. Although this advertisement is aimed at new/recent graduates, we would also consider an experienced veterinarian for a position within our practice.

As a new graduate, you will be challenged, but ideally not overwhelmed. Within the veterinary industry, the common business model incorporating performance reviews, KPI’s and product quotas is driving extremely high attrition rates, as it is in direct conflict with the ethos of most veterinarians. It is our belief that veterinarians are drawn into their career pathway with a desire to provide optimal care for animals, not to over service clients or achieve sales targets. Therefore, our main performance parameters are happy and co-operative individuals who place the needs of our patients above all else.

We encourage you to start your career in a veterinary clinic with your best interests at heart. Consultations are made in thirty minute blocks. Our appointment structure allows for adequate time to manage hospital cases and complete thorough work ups for every patient.
Our new graduate program allows for a “soft” entry into the veterinary industry – this is achieved by initially booking the success candidate straight forward cases and advancing the difficultly of patient presentations in step with their developing ability and confidence.

Our team of seven well experienced veterinarians work cooperatively and collaboratively to provide a working environment brimming with support and guidance. Each of our veterinarians excels in one or more fields, allowing our clinic to offer a vast array of expertise. All of our veterinary nurses are fully qualified and provide excellent knowledgeable assistance. There are a minimum of four veterinarians working at any one time and we maintain a ratio of 1:1 veterinarians to nurses.

Additionally, having the highest quality veterinary equipment means that diagnostic procedures can be efficient and more enjoyable in the day-to-day routine. Our clinic has a dedicated imaging room with DR x-ray and an new advanced ultrasound machine. Our DR x-ray machine produces high resolution images in a matter of seconds. We use our ultrasound machine routinely, but also provide training for our vets through a visiting ultra-sonographer. Our pathology suite is complete with an Idexx Catalyst biochemistry and Procyte haematology machines – delivering blood tests in approximately fifteen minutes. Our dental suite consists of two IM3 dental machines both with sub-gingival scalers and a wall mounted DR dental x-ray. Six consultation rooms, a dedicated imaging room, dental room and surgery complemented by multiple prep areas also make for hassle free procedures.

We also believe that veterinarians should never stop learning. We support ongoing education, career advancement and encourage the development of personal interests within the veterinary field.

A rotational roster is in place to ensure that all vets get a rostered day off to get some down time. We are also offering conference leave, membership to vet education, VIN access, vet products and procedures at cost and most importantly, a position where you can devote your time to the best care and outcomes for companion animals.
Have a look on our website to see who we are and what we are all about.

Family run business lead by Dr Aiden Picking (Memberships in Small Animal Surgery) and Dr Geoff Wilson (crazy adventurer-we dare you to google him, if you don’t know him already!) along with Dr Cat, there is always two vets scheduled on per day to bounce cases and knowledge around, we have awesome Nurses and Receptionists even down to our cool student nurses, it is an honour to work alongside these legends!

What we can do for you

We know you work hard, so we also want to give you the time off to spend with family/friends/pets/hobbies whatever interests you!

You only want to be in a clinic with great values and ethics with the patient’s best interest at heart; the good old saying “treat every pet as if they were your own” is true within VetLove.

Days are never boring! Practical jokes, dry sense of humour, coffee (van visits every morning), chocolate and great team environment makes every day a pleasure, sure we get stressed and have our off days (who doesn’t) but as a rule we club together and smash the day out as a team.

We set aside money to help you with your skills and education, you want to learn more? We can assist you, we can even source courses for you.  And, we have all the toys you would expect for a large veterinary clinic, Idexx in house pathology, Digital Radiology with dental Xray, ultrasound and laser therapy.

Want to advance you career within the industry? We are open to all ideas, and career advancement, you can develop your skills further within the company, got an idea? Then let us know!

You want ownership/bonuses/feedback and recognition – you got it! We make the rules, let us know what you are after in your career progression. You will be surprised what we can pull off! Last year two of our team members within the VetLove group won the opportunity to go to Bali/Borneo for a week to spend time at the Ecolodges, where they got to experience time with Orangutans in their natural environment, how’s that for outside the box!!

Support, collaboration and team spirit is not only with the individual clinic but across the VetLove team. Known for our culture, the VetLove teams are also a great group to be around, friendly competition across the group makes for some interesting conversations.

You have the autonomy to make decisions and we trust your judgement. Our expectation is that you do the right thing for our clients, our patients, our team and your business.

We might not have all the processes in place, but we certainly have the culture, we love what we do and enjoy getting out of bed each day to go to work! Feel free to call any of our clinics and ask them what it’s like to work for VetLove, you won’t be disappointed.

What’s next?

Don’t ignore this opportunity, if you have a few years of Vetting in a general practice then apply now. Are you happy in your current role? You could be happier! Send your resume and cover letter in, what’s the worst that could happen? You apply and you love us (of course you will) and what if you are everything we are looking for?   If this isn’t the right job for you, we are always looking for exceptional talent to join the group, get in touch, what do you have to lose?

WARWICK, SOUTH DARLING DOWNS - MIXED New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Mixed Practice Veterinarian Positions Available – Warwick, QLD

Warwick Town and Country Vets is a well-established privately owned clinic, currently seeking to employ 2 mixed practice veterinarians.  The position is very flexible and can either be full/part-time or casual.  Experienced veterinarians, and or new or recent graduates will be considered for the positions with continued support and mentoring provided.

We are a small but dedicated team of 2 vets and 4 nurses, and we pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service and practicing a high quality of veterinary medicine and surgery to our friendly and loyal clientele.  You will be working in a friendly and relaxed environment with an experienced team of supportive staff.  The clinic has a mix of approximately 80% small animals and 20% large animals (horses, cattle, sheep and goats).

Our veterinary hospital is equipped with modern technology including a digital x-ray machine, an ultrasound, a dental x-ray machine and im3 dental unit.  We run Vision software which integrates with our in house IDEXX laboratory which consists of a lasercyte, catalyst one, coag analyser, vetlab urinalysis and microscopes.  We have multiple fluid pumps for hospital and surgery patients.  We have 2 anaesthetic machines and monitoring equipment.  We have a power float for equine dentals.

Our clinic hours are 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday and 9am to 12pm Sunday, and we provide an afterhours emergency service at all other times.  Since extending our opening hours it has greatly reduced our afterhours work, but in saying that, it is still required as the nearest emergency centres are over an hour away. We do take some of the stress out of being the vet on call by having a great team of very experienced nurses who are on call with you, but most importantly they take and answer the afterhours phone which means that you will only get a call from the afterhours nurse if they need further advice or in an event of a true emergency. A work car is provided for on call use.

We have always been supportive of a great work-life balance and think that this is essential for a rewarding career in this profession; therefore, our rosters and hours are very flexible.  You may like to work 2 days a week or 5 days a week or even just 1 week a month.  Salary will be upwards of $120000pa + super depending on experience and the number of hours you choose to work (based on 40-hour week).  An additional bonus will be paid after the initial 3 months once you decide that this is the job for you.  You will be given 1 weeks paid study leave and $5000 to spend on continuing education in addition to 4 weeks holiday leave each year.

NORTH MACLEAN, LOGAN - SMALL ANIMAL
north maclean family logo
KIDS. COME. FIRST.

Hello, Kylie here!
I am a full time mum to 3 beautiful girls (aged 7, 5 and 2), part time vet, full time practice owner… and for funsies (and destressing!) I have started my own hobby business on the side.
I have worked at a number of small animal clinics, and was never quite satisfied…
I wanted more!
I wanted to feel I was giving 100% care and support to my clients and patients every time.
I wanted a team I loved and could support, and a team that loved me back and were there to support me too.
Then I met Erica…

Hi, I’m Erica!
I’m not a mum, but I feel like that’s ok for me. I am a full time vet, full time practice owner, a full time sci-fi nerd, and a part time aerialist.
I have always loved my work, even through the ups and downs. I think the term unicorn has been thrown around more than once…
Through working in a few different practices I formed my own view on what I think it means to provide great veterinary care, and what makes a great workplace.
I soon found that Kylie shared my views too!
And so an idea started…

OUR STORY
A great friendship turned into a great partnership, so…
In November 2018 we opened the doors to a family owned small animal clinic - North Maclean Family Vet – and haven’t looked back!
We are currently searching for a good, all-rounder vet who is available to work between school hours. NO. AFTERHOURS.
Kylie especially understands the confidence and nerves when returning to work after maternity leave – we want to assure you that we will be supportive during this transition and help bring you back up to speed.
We will be patient… we will be kind… we will support you and help you grow.
We get you!
We want you to enjoy your time at work, but have the time at home with your family.
We value career development and will provide numerous options for continued education in your area/s of interest.

OUR CLINIC
As a new clinic, we have all of the usual fantastic modern equipment.
Our clients constantly tell us they love our fresh and clean clinic!
We practice high quality medicine, and will regularly involve in-house specialists in our patient care.
Our mobile cardiologist offers in house workups, preventative screenings and extensive knowledge.
Our mobile internal medicine specialist visits regularly to aid our diagnostic workups, and is always pushing our knowledge and level of care as much as he can! He is a fantastic asset to our team.
We recognise our patients are individuals and treat them as such… our clients really appreciate this!

Please click here to see photos! photos

OUR TEAM
We are a small, close knit team. Our work family is an extension of our own family. We are supportive of each other whenever possible.
Most importantly, we like to have fun!
Being involved in our local community is really important to us, and we are constantly finding ways that we can give back – we have decided that this year we will all learn AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) to assist our hearing affected clients.
Sustainability in a world full of many disposables is also important to us, and we all work together to recycle wherever we can!

We asked our team why they loved working for us, and here is what they said…
“North Maclean Family Vet is an extremely furry friendly and client focused practice. Both Dr Erica and Dr Kylie are exceptional vets with extensive knowledge of clients and patients. I’m so very proud to work here. Every shift is a great shift with plenty of laughs. All the staff are brilliant!”
“I may be biased but it is the best clinic that I have worked in! Also, Dr Kylie and Dr Erica are excellent at hiring the best of the best!”
“I didn’t know it was possible to have work life balance in the veterinary industry until I joined the North Maclean Family Vet team. In my 15+ years in the industry I have never found a clinic to be more in touch with the needs of their clients, patients and very importantly their staff! Joining this team was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I can’t imagine ever working anywhere else.”
“The North Maclean team have done an amazing job at making me feel a part of the team and family. I always look forward to an exciting day at work!”

SO, ARE YOU A PARENT? OR ARE YOU SIMPLY LOOKING FOR PART TIME WORK?

Then look no further - we are the clinic for you!

Applicants must have:

What we are offering:

A love of sci-fi isn’t a necessity, but it wouldn’t go astray! (Erica would love a new friend!)

OUR LOCATION
We are located in a growing region of southern, suburban Brisbane. We are approximately 50 minutes from Brisbane City, 30 minutes from the Gold Coast and the idyllic Tamborine Mountain, 45 minutes from Ipswich Central, or 20 minutes from Browns Plains. We are easily accessed along the Mount Lindesay Highway, making travel to and from the clinic very easy.
North Maclean is a semi-rural and suburban area, with lots of acreage and several new housing developments. Our clinic is situated in the local village hub, which has the convenience of a fantastic, locally renowned fruit shop. The hub also has a butcher, fish & chip takeaway, bottle-o, chemist, doctor’s clinic, and animal produce store, as well as a bakery that does the best coffee and treats south of Brisbane! We are only 10 minutes from Jimboomba, which has a growing shopping and business centre (and lots of lunch options!).

YOUR NEXT STEP
If you think you are the right fit for our team or want more information, we would love to hear from you! Please email your resume and cover letter to admin@northmacleanfamilyvet.com.au.
