SUNSHINE COAST HINTERLAND - PART TIME MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL

Veterinarian – 3+ years' experience

With an enthusiastic and supportive team of seven other vets, we have the flexibility to adjust the role for the right person!

Maleny Veterinary Services is a family-owned mixed practice located in the magnificent hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. We are spoilt with lovely clients, gorgeous countryside and a great proximity to both Brisbane and the beaches of the Sunshine Coast.

We are an independent, well-established and highly respected practice with clients comprised of companion animals (80%) plus a variety of large animal work including cattle, alpacas, pigs, sheep and horses.

Our team is a friendly bunch of 20ish staff members including seven vets, ten super-nurses and an awesome support crew. Our practice philosophy is one of providing outstanding, old-fashioned service coupled with the pursuit of excellence in what we do. We look after each other, knowing that without a strong team, we can't do our job well.

With one of our senior vets heading off on new adventures after 12 wonderful years with the team, we are seeking an experienced veterinarian to jump on in. Is it you?! The right person is a friendly, qualified veterinary surgeon who can help service our caseload and is also happy to collaborate with our other three senior vets in a bit of mentoring for our four talented junior vets (including one new grad).

Please click here to see photos! photos

The remuneration package and benefits are negotiable, dependent on experience and how you want to structure the role. As a guide, our other full time vets receive a competitive base salary plus super, on-call and laundry allowances, after-hours payments, annual bonuses, plus a continuing education allowance. The annual holiday allowance is four weeks, with an additional week of paid study leave per year after your first year of employment with us.

The work environment is open, friendly and supportive and veterinarians are encouraged to discuss cases with each other whenever possible. We strive to practise the highest quality medicine and surgery and there is ample scope for veterinarians to develop their skills and special interests.
Equipment includes dental machines, ultrasound, in-house IDEXX lab, Vetscan Imagyst, tonometer, etc. The relative proximity to Sunshine Coast also allows referral to specialist centres when required.

We're a particularly good-humoured, tenacious bunch and there are days that we forget that what we're doing is supposed to be 'work'. But don't just take our word for it – we encourage applicants to speak to the vets currently working here to discuss their experiences!

If you share our philosophy and dedication to animal care, have great communication and organisation skills AND a ridiculous sense of humour, we look forward to hearing from you. Please send your resume to our Practice Manager Amanda Fea at mvsamandaf@gmail.com

CAPALABA, CITY OF REDLAND - SMALL ANIMAL

Opportunity: Part Time Associate Vet Role
Location: Capalaba, QLD
Start date: Open

Okay, so you’ve done some hard yards to get to where you are. You’ve slogged through Uni, you graduated, you partied, you entered the industry, and found your feet. With this stressful transition and few years of clinical work behind you, you’re ready to realise the return on your investment in yourself and your career. It’s time to find a workplace that truly understands your aspirations and delivers on its promises!

Please click here to see photos! photos

This is a simple equation: You tell us your needs and we tell you ours. If we can give each other what we need, then we’re on.

Here’s what we THINK you need:

  1. Fair remuneration – this just requires an open conversation. It’s not scary. You tell us what you think is fair and reasonable and we figure out if its affordable. Starting salary $100K full time equivalent
  2. Balanced lifestyle – no staying back unpaid because this is your “life vocation”, no after hours unless you want to do it, no double booking or “squeezing” appointments in, no 15 minute primary consults – they’re ALL 30 minutes so you have time to do a proper job = job satisfaction.
  3. Support – a vet team who ask each other for advice, who love collaborating on cases and sharing knowledge, who recognise that in doing so they develop their knowledge in ways that reading can’t. Reliable and effective nurses who know their job and leap to help you. Many locum vets have commented that our nursing team is the best they’ve ever worked with.
  4. Excellent equipment – IDEXX Procyte and Catalyst machines, UA Analyser, iM3 dental equipment, digital dental radiology, TonoVet tonometer, ultrasound machine, diathermy, heated anaesthetic tubing, NIBP, ECG, ETCo2 monitoring equipment etc.
  5. Wonderful culture – no politics, no drama. We have fun together, we have open and honest conversations, we share a common vision to do a great job. We do fun activities together four times a year. Last year it included sailing on Moreton Bay for 3 days, and this year it’s shark diving at Julian Rocks in NSW. These adventures are all expenses paid. Why? Because that’s how you build a great team of people who know and trust each other.
  6. Inclusive management – My name’s Sam. I own My Local Vet. Can I manage it on my own? Of course not. I rely on YOU, the team, to run the show. The team quite literally make all the decisions. I just bring the questions – should we do this, or that?
  7. Responsive management – My aspiration always has been to cultivate and amazing workplace. I can’t do that without your feedback. Something you don’t like? We have a conversation and find a solution. It’s that simple. No escalating the issue to your supervisor and then the manager only to find she’s currently on annual leave so you’ll have to wait until she’s back. Just talk to ME. I’m a one stop shop.

Clinic virtual tour: https://youtu.be/A0aAQUpARNs

What do we need:

  1. Someone conscientious with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  2. Someone with at least 3 years of clinical experience.
  3. Someone with a sense of humour.
  4. Someone adaptable who is open to new ideas.
  5. Someone who REALLY WANTS to work somewhere like My Local Vet.

That’s it! This advertisement will now be officially submitted to the universe to deliver YOU to our doorstep.
