Brookfield Vet surgery (West Brisbane)

Brookfield Vet surgery is a family run 3.5 vet mixed (predominately small animals) practice west of Brisbane. Brookfield Vet surgery is located only 15kms from the CBD and yet is set in a beautiful semi-rural landscape. We are looking for a full-time vet to start in February. The position is open to Solely Small animal vet or a mixed animal vet. We have excellent standards of care and a wide variety of cases.  We are lucky in that we truly have wonderful, grateful, and dedicated clients who appreciate full work ups and to get an answer.  We are fortunate have a very interesting case load which keeps you on your toes and never bored.  

We also have the luxury of referral centres if required and a great relationship with the referral Vets.  We have a new digital x-ray processor, getting dental x- ray in the new year, new in house IDEXX ProCyte and Catalyst, Blood gas analyser, lots of orthopaedic and surgery gear, power float and lots more Toys.  We also support and encourage special interests and buy equipment accordingly.  The clinic is equipped with both sterile and dirty surgery rooms, a specific dental room, imaging room, lab area, a cat and large dog ward.

It is a busy clinic but we are seeking an additional vet so there is more time for case work up but still require an efficient vet in a fast-paced environment.  We have a high ratio of very skilled, friendly, and efficient nurses and auxiliary staff.  Who are available to help in consults, help with radiographs, get patients ready for surgery, restraint, place on intravenous fluids and ready to help when needed but most importantly fun and enjoyable to work with. Furthermore, we have experienced, friendly, and supportive Team of vets to bounce ideas off.

This position requires sole charge work and will experience a varied and busy caseload of routine clinical work and emergency/trauma cases. There is no on-call requirement for this position. BRISBANE, UNDERWOOD - PET INTENSIVE CARE UNIT - PART TIME

Veterinarian – Pet Intensive Care Unit
Emergency and Critical Care 

Pet Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a joint venture between the Animal Emergency Service and Veterinary Specialist Service at our hospital in Underwood, Brisbane. It is a dedicated 10 bed Pet Intensive Care Unit complete with mechanical ventilators and state of the art facilities. Our hospital has been designed to complement the services offered and ensure that the best diagnostics and treatment options are available for every patient.  

In collaboration with the primary clinician, the ICU veterinarian will oversee and co-ordinate the veterinary management of critical patients admitted to PICU.  The successful applicant will also work closely with the PICU nursing team, assist with their training and implement/maintain best-practice protocols.  PICU is integral in prospective research involving tick paralysis and snake envenomation.

Greencross Silkstone is an established clinic with long standing and loyal clientele base. The clinic has three consult rooms, surgery, dog and cat wards and isolation ward and is fully equipped with Im3 dental machine, digital X-ray machine, ultrasound and has recently been fitted out with brand new, high quality laboratory machines and equipment.

The clinic also hosts visiting surgeons and ultrasonographers and has excellent connections with the speciality sector. Dentistry is a focus with a visiting specialist (Dr Tony Caiafa) and one of our own vets in training for membership. Dogs/cats are approximately a 80/20% mix. The clinic has typically been a busy one, so needs a motivated, enthusiastic practice manager (who’s a vet) to drive the clinic.

The successful applicant would be required to work consulting day shifts (8am-8pm or 12pm-12am) on Saturday and/or Sunday and would have the support and back-up of one of our full-time emergency vets at all times. Ideally, we are looking for someone available to work one or two days at least every second weekend but the frequency and number of shifts is negotiable. There will also be the opportunity for additional shifts from time to time, for example on public holidays.

Clinical Anaesthetist (part-time)
Founded in 1936, the School of Veterinary Science has a rich history and holds a reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus, providing the teaching, research and clinical infrastructure and resources to develop its strong reputation as a leading provider of veterinary training, research and clinical care. The school also maintains a small animal hospital and large animal clinic at Dayboro, north-west of Brisbane.

The role: The Clinical Anaesthetist will participate in the management of primary, emergency and referral cases requiring anaesthesia and analgesia. The incumbent will also actively participate in the clinical teaching and instruction of undergraduate and postgraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students.

The person: Applicants must have a Veterinary Science degree registrable in Queensland together with experience of at least three years in veterinary anaesthesia. You should have effective interpersonal skills and the capacity to serve as an excellent clinical model to students and peers.

Remuneration: This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) fixed-term position for a period of 12 months. The remuneration package will be in the range $74,248 - $83,371 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 9.5% (total package will be in the range $81,302 - $91,291 p.a.)
