The House Call Vet After Hours service is a unique after hours house call service covering all areas of Brisbane. SUNSHINE COAST, BATTERY HILL - SMALL ANIMAL - EXPERIENCED

Battery Hill Veterinary Clinic is a small but busy practice that is deeply rooted in the local community. In a small cluster of shops within walking distance of the beach it has a relaxed coastal atmosphere. The team are diverse but close knit and really look after each other. We have good relationships with local emergency and specialist centers with frequent referrals for more complex cases. The lifestyle on the sunshine coast is second to none.

We are a privately owned Veterinary Practice. As an organization our values are Respect, Integrity, Trust, Honesty and Compassion. We try to embody those values in the way we deal with clients, patients, and staff alike. We try to encourage an environment of hard work, support, learning and work-life balance with a dose of fun and humor. Some days are tough while others are very rewarding, but we celebrate the wins and reflect on the losses as a team.

The practice facilities are small but functional and include Multiparameter patient monitoring, IM3 Dental suite, Ezyvet Practice management software, Digital Radiology, Mindray M7 ultrasound, basic orthopedic equipment, IDEXX chemistry analyzers, dedicated surgical theatre and all the other bits of equipment required for a fully functional general practice. We are also starting to plan for expansion when the opportunity presents itself.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Who are we looking for?

We need someone with solid general practice skills so at least 5 years’ experience. The individual must first and foremost align with our values as smooth integration into the team is very important to us. Second to this we need someone who is confident with clientele and who can communicate effectively and establish lasting relationships. Outside of this we are open to different special interests or skill sets and vets who prefer consulting over surgery. We are also open to discussions on practice ownership if the candidate has interest in this area.

This position is not for everyone – if you are looking for a large practice with lots of vets, this is not it. If you are after a general practice where you develop relationships with your patients and clients, have good work life balance, have all the toys required to do your job but can refer cases outside of your skillset and have a small tightknit team to support you then we encourage sending your CV and cover letter to me at warren.doidge@gmail.com for a confidential discussion.

RIPLEY, IPSWICH - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Employment opening at Ripley Veterinary Hospital

Are you flicking through the plethora of vet ads to find most are spruiked by another corporate owned business looking to fill a number? Seems to be the in-thing at the moment.

Refreshingly, we’re an independent, family-owned hospital and this is what we have to offer!

Our team makes magic out of a new, purpose-built, ASAV accredited small animal hospital located in the Ripley Valley. We can talk about all our fancy toys like everyone else (like “Earl” our ultrasound, our blood machines (Tom, Dick and Harry), our fluid pumps, “Crypto” our Xray unit and it’s little dental brother, their dual operating theatres, our full IM3 dental suite with “Dave” the Vet-Tome) . . . but that would just be “name dropping” and that’s not really our thing. :p

Since opening in 2018, we’re chuffed to have been awarded 2 years in a row “Best Led Practice” awards from the Lincoln Institute and now also accredited as an “Employer of Choice”. Running an amazing Vet Hospital isn’t just all ACTH stims, dental extractions, and fancy orthopaedics. It’s building a strong team who relies on each other to get through the day, while having fun, supporting each other and aiming to help get each other out on time (we call it OOT)!

Maybe it all stems from the fancy coffee machine we have in the prep room keeping our staff caffeinated, the healthy life attitude, or just the chocolate and copious amounts of food and wine at our brainstorming meetings.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We have a real drive to ensure every pet has an amazing experience, which is backed by ensuring we deliver rock star experiences to every client also. Every patient walks out healthier than they come in, whether emotionally, physically or just full of yummy treats. Our team enjoys spending time together, and actually make work fun. Sure days get busy and sometimes you think they’re never going to end, but we’re all there for each other cause that’s just what we do.

What our team is in search for:

What we can offer in return:

BUDERIM, SUNSHINE COAST - SMALL ANIMAL

VETERINARIAN FULL OR PERMANENT PART TIME

THE OPPORTUNITY

A unique opportunity exists for passionate small animal veterinarian to join our friendly 2 & 1/2 vet team in a purpose designed facility at Mountain View Veterinary Surgery, in Buderim on Qld’s beautiful Sunshine Coast.

The principal is trying to age gracefully so there is a longer-term opportunity to buy into the practice should the desire present itself. The facility, team and business systems are extremely well put together.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We are looking for an experienced dedicated small animal veterinary surgeon who now wants to improve their work life balance.

THE LOCATION

We are situated in arguably one of the most delightful regions in Australia - we have very low crime, it’s uncrowded (for the time being anyway) except for constant influx of southerners seeking what we have.

We have a pleasant climate - moderate temperatures year-round, rich volcanic soils.  It’s very green (average annual rainfall is 1700mm or 66” in old scale), rainforest park in walking distance from town centre, mountains in the hinterland, beautiful beaches and rivers suitable for all water sports, whale watching, but no deadly marine stingers or carnivorous reptiles.

What about lifestyle - there are numerous cafes and restaurants, wineries and distilleries, delightful weekend getaways within reach, an airport is 10 minutes away with flights to Sydney, Melbourne, and New Zealand (no promises at the moment) numerous sporting clubs and facilities, large shopping centres with all the major brands,

Healthcare- we have state of the art hospitals, both public and private

Education - we have a local university (10 minutes), numerous public and private schools

Retirement facilities - lots of facilities for your ageing parents to be nearby if needed,

Demographics - Around 60% of the population are homeowners, many of whom are pet owners. Our client base is well educated and mostly either employed or retired and willing to treat their pets ailments as recommended.

WHO ARE WE?

We are an independent and privately owned business, which has operated in Buderim since 1997. Our Principal has worked in a number of roles - in mixed rural practice, as a UK locum, and in multiple industry roles in sales, technical support and marketing (11 years in 3 companies - that was a while ago now).

Our internal business approach is “fix the system and leave the people alone”. We want to come to work and have fun, what’s the point otherwise? We think you'll find we are not your average veterinary practice.

We have specifically designed the physical workplace and the business systems to minimise the stress and frustrations of typical veterinary practice.

We love our jobs, and we value our staff even more than we value our clients, because we know that if we look after our staff, they will always look after the clients.

We have an extremely friendly service orientated team, (read our google reviews below), we run on time for 20-minute appointments, in state-of-the-art facilities, our building designs and our workflow management ensures stress free visits.

We use our history taking, examination clinical reasoning skills first, and follow up with appropriate testing to achieve the optimum outcomes for both clients and patients.

We are principle centred. We don’t work to financial targets on clinical cases, we work to improve clinical outcomes for patients and clients. That seems to work well for us professionally and financially.

OUR FACILITY

On very first impression, most veterinarians (and sales reps) who visit our facility go “wow!” The next thing they notice is - “there is no smell.” Then they say, ‘it’s so clean”.

We have a pristine facility (our Glasboard walls throughout the entire facility literally sparkle) with 4 consult rooms, a laboratory (HM5, Vetscan, Vspro,), staff room cum office, separate cat ward, pharmacy, dog ward, separate theatre, 4 anaesthetic machine (all the same for ease of use), 2 electric scissor lift tables , electrocautery, liquid nitrogen, air hugger heaters dental area with dental machine, vet tome digital X-ray , DR Xray with floating table, oxygen generator with piped oxygen, portable oxygen generators, suction pump and more. We have so much storage it's ridiculous.

We run on ezyvet - we have added lots of shortcuts and templates for estimates, pricing and clinical write ups to reduce time and effort performing data entry.

Our phones automatically switch to the after-hours service every day at 5.30pm. We have two after hours services we refer to and a specialist medical and surgical hospital, all less than 10km away. Hence no after hours calls outs. You can actually plan your life.

We have a highly skilled visiting ultrasonographer and a visiting surgeon on always available for advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures.

We have rapid turnaround times from external pathology and same day delivery from wholesalers.

For insight into the facility, go to Tour of Mountain View Vet Surgery

CARRARA, GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMAL New Position

Are you a veterinarian who would like to be seeing your own cases at a referral hospital as part of a genuine multi-disciplinary team?

Do you have high level clinical skills and would like to take them to the next level, but are not sure if you want to undertake a residency training program or membership exams?

Do you like the challenge of a busy environment with complex cases and dedicated owners?

The Opportunity

Most if not all Veterinary practices have become significantly busier over the last 12 months.  We have not been immune to this and are adapting our teams and processes with the aim of delivering the excellent patient care we are known for, while trying to provide our team with the working environment that is sustainable for them.  This is a big challenge!  We need the right people to help us manage our case load, and this has led to a number of new roles being created.  We think that the ideal person for the new role of Staff Veterinarian will be able to manage incoming cases in collaboration with our established specialist team.  The ultimate aim is to deliver the best outcomes for patients, clients and referring practices.  Some cases would be transferred to the specialist team, while others would stay with the successful candidate, with mentoring of their case management approach.  We also have a significant case load of oncology cases and the day-to-day maintenance of these cases could be significantly enhanced with a person who is passionate about this area.  We understand that these are diverse things, and it is definitely ok to be interested in one part of it rather than the other.  Let us know if you apply!

About Us

Veterinary Specialist Services is an established Small Animal referral practice in South East Queensland.  This role would be based at our Carrara practice on the beautiful Gold Coast.  We are striving to create an environment where people can do their best work.  We have many things to work on to get there, but we are adapting as fast as possible.  Our teams are very passionate about delivering patient care and support each other to do it.  We have a very diverse skill set and can offer just about all specialities, diagnostic modalities and therapies across our practice group.  We have residency training programs for vets, in house training programs for nurses and over the years, about 20% of our interns have gone on to become registered Specialists.  We are involved in the industry with wide participation in professional groups, universities, continuing education courses and we have our own conference.
