MERMAID WATERS, GOLD COAST - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Full time or Part time position

We are a 4-5 veterinarian small animal only vet clinic with a fantastic work environment and great clientele. We are looking for a veterinarian with an easy going nature who can fit in with our ethos: that the most important element of a practice is a healthy and happy work place. This veterinarian position currently available has been created by the growth of our practice.

Our Mermaid Vet clinic, centrally located on the Gold Coast, is just a few minutes from the white sands of Mermaid Beach. A veterinary surgery has been established on this site for over forty years. Since purchasing the clinic twelve years ago, the owners have been successful in growing the practice into one of the most highly respected clinics on the Gold Coast. The clinic is family owned and operated with a belief in providing the best veterinary care, without the need for ‘over servicing’ or performance reviews. Critical to this superior level of service is veterinarians who enjoy their work every day.

Having the highest quality veterinary equipment means that diagnostic procedures can be efficient and more enjoyable in the day-to-day routine. Our clinic has a DR x-ray machine that produces high resolution images in a matter of seconds. We also have a Phillips XD-11 ultrasound sound machine with 3d Doppler that we use routinely, but also provide training for our vets through a visiting ultrasonographer. Our pathology suite is complete with an Idexx Catalyst biochemistry and Procyte haematology machines – delivering blood tests in approximately 15 minutes. Our IM3 dental machine with sub-gingival scaler complement our coming soon dental x-ray. A dedicated x-ray room, dental room, surgery room and multiple prep areas also make for hassle free procedures. We also believe that veterinarians should never stop learning. We support ongoing education, career advancement and encourage the development of personal interests within the veterinary field.

We have an outstanding group of nurses with decades of experience between them. They are highly supportive of our vets and take pride in our clinic. Our nurses all excel in various fields that support primary veterinary care including nutrition and behavioural training.

A small animal veterinarian with a long-term view for employment would be best suited for this position. An interest in a field, such as medicine or surgery, for example, would be favourable. New and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. No after-hours or on-call work is required. All after hours cases are referred to a close by afterhours clinic.

If you are looking for practice with back-to-back fifteen minute consults and the constant pressure of KPI based reviews, then this isn’t the job for you. We offer a steady and manageable daily work load with 30 minutes allocated for every consultation. Shifts are structured with three veterinarians working at any one time, providing excellent peer support for veterinarians and enough time to manage caseloads. Pay rate is based on level of experience and suitability to the practice. We are offering a superior pay package, conference leave and most importantly, a position where you can devote your time to the best care and outcomes for companion animals.

Have a look on our website to see who we are and what we are all about.

If you are interested in an interview, please send your CV/resume to office@mermaidvet.com.au

Career
Do you want to kick start your career and learn in a supportive and encouraging environment? Or are you just looking for a team with an incredible culture, atmosphere and dedication to provide the best care possible?

If so then you should come and see what there is on offer at Animal Emergency Service (AES) Tanawha! We are offering a 12-month internship for new or recent graduates commencing in January 2020 at our hospital on the Sunshine Coast.

We are looking for dedicated professionals who want to learn emergency medicine and surgery, as part of a team where clinical standards mean everything and learning never stops.

AES Team
Animal Emergency Service is a specialised veterinary organization that provides urgent, after hours medical attention to pets and other animals. The Sunshine Coast facility is co-operative with North Coast Veterinary Specialists and Referral Centre. This established collaboration provides the necessary team of clinical experts, support staff and facilities required to practice emergency medicine at an international standard.

Although clinical standards mean everything to us, we recognise that everyone needs time off. Social functions and up to 5 days off a year to attend conferences are all important facets of life at AES. We are looking for vets who want to join our ‘team’ because a position at AES is more than just a job!

Training
An internship at AES provides an opportunity for recent graduates to establish a career in the highly sought after area of emergency and critical care medicine and surgery under the guidance of experienced clinicians trained in this area. The objectives of the program are to train individuals to be outstanding emergency veterinarians with a focus on clinical excellence. Friendly and helpful support and training is provided with the expectation that candidates will have the opportunity to graduate to become full time members of the AES veterinary team after completion of the internship.

The first 6 months of the internship will be directly mentored by the Veterinary Manager and will have the support of senior clinicians any time you’re on shift. Training will involve attending consultations and assisting with diagnostic investigations, surgical procedures, client communication and maintenance of high-quality medical records. Interns will then progress to taking primary case management under supervision allowing them to develop the confidence and clinical skill needed in this challenging field of veterinary medicine.

Animal Emergency Service is dedicated to continuing education, and as such, have developed our own in-house programs for our veterinary teams. Please contact Dr. Danielle Huston at dhuston@aes.email for more information, to visit the practice, or to speak with any of the AES vets about their experiences.
