NORTHGATE, INNER NORTH ADELAIDE - SMALL ANIMAL - FULL OR PART TIME New Graduates welcome New Position

Award Winning Practice in South Australia – Fulltime Veterinarian

Pet Universe is a progressive, high quality, small animal veterinary practice located 10 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD. With many years of veterinary experience, we have become an employer and practice of choice and Telstra Small Business Awards SA 2013 & 2015 Finalists. We were the recipients of the Australian Veterinary Associations coveted Small Animal Practice of Excellence in 2015.

Are You

  1. New or Recent Graduate?
Our graduate induction plan will help you practice with confidence and settle in to practice life smoothly. We have some very experienced veterinarians that will provide mentorship and support for your early years as a vet. For further information please email us at drckflee@gmail.com.
  2. An Experienced All-rounder?
If you don’t have any special interest areas that fine. If you are keen to join an innovative practice that is about to launch another suite of services that will greatly enhance small animal recovery and quality of life then we may be the practice for you.
  3. A Vet with a Special Interest in Feline Medicine, Surgery, Canine Rehabilitation or Radiology?
We are keen to talk to veterinarians with a special interest in feline medicine, surgery, canine rehabilitation and radiology as well as all-rounders. Opportunities exist for further training and study in these areas with our 4 Year Working Scholarships. We hold ISFM Gold Cat Accreditation at both Pet Universe Broadview & Northgate.

Dr Oberle’s thoughts on the main benefits of working at Pet Universe:
I would stress that our nurses are highly qualified as I feel this is a huge benefit to us as vets. I would also mention that the environment is very supportive and although every vet will have primary case responsibility, there is always another doctor around to confer with, if needed. I feel this is one of the best aspects of Pet Universe and one of the most valuable both for us as vets and for our clients. Even now after 9 years with PU, the supportive work environment is still extremely important and my job satisfaction depends on it. Most of the staff members get along so well that we will plan social events with each other which creates more of a friendly and “family” atmosphere.” Dr. Kat Oberle, D.V.M.

What Does Pet Universe Stand For?
We believe in offering the very best healthcare in an innovative, professional, caring, enjoyable, consistent and value-for-money way. That’s why all our wellness procedures are designed to be affordable without compromising our standards so all routine procedures include pre-G.A.s and I.V. fluids capnography and blood pressure monitoring as standard. In addition, our standard consults are 20 minutes long or 30 minutes for new clients. This enables us to promote our unique features including Fear Free techniques for all our patients which falls in line with our Cat Friendly Gold Accreditation. We have a large number of qualified veterinary nurses and dedicated Client Relations team members. We were the first Practice in Adelaide to offer Kitten Kindy, one of the few to offer acupuncture and the first hospital to offer Medivets’ Stem Cell Therapy. We have performed over many stem cell treatments on cats and dogs and the results are outstanding. Lastly, we have some really great clients who want to do the best for their pets and say “Yes” to our treatment recommendations.

So How Do We All Stay In Touch?
Dr Chris Lee runs fortnightly vet meetings where both clinical and non-clinical issues are discussed in an informal setting. All the team get together once a month for a three-hour Practice Meeting on a Wednesday afternoon from 1- 4 p.m. to receive Practice updates, clinical updates and training sessions on a number of different topics. Socially, there always seems to be something going on with many of the team catching up outside of work to play squash, go scuba diving, fishing, wine tours or relaxing at the pub.

So What About All The Toys?
We offer the highest standards of veterinary care so you are able to practice veterinary care to your highest level. We have a philosophy of diagnostic-based veterinary care and encourage on-going post-graduate training.

We are 5-10 minutes northeast from Adelaide with all the benefits of living in Adelaide, and 20-25 minutes from the beaches and Barossa Valley. Locally, there are a great variety of restaurants and cafes, new cinemas and facilities including fantastic public and private schools nearby. To find out more about us visit us on www.petuniverse.com.au.

Partnership Opportunities
Future partnership opportunities exist for a committed veterinarian.

Remuneration
Remuneration is above Award pay, and performance-based bonus and one-week's paid CPD are available. We are E482 Business Sponsors and can sponsor in veterinarians with an Australian-recognised qualification. All applications handled in strictest confidence. Email your C.V. and cover letter to Claire Lee, Managing Partner at clairepentonlee@gmail.com.

Veterinary Clinician (Large Animal)

(HEO 7) $88,078 to $98,509 and salary scale per annum and employer contribution of 9.5% superannuation will apply.

The University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement 2017-2021 will apply to a successful candidate’s employment at the University.  The University recently temporarily varied its Enterprise Agreement.  Please be advised that the salary range, along with other conditions associated with this position, may change in accordance with the variation to the Enterprise Agreement.

Fixed-term position available until 31 December 2021

Provide high quality primary opinion veterinary services in-clinic and in-field to a wide variety of large animal species at individual and herd level, while making a valuable contribution to educating and mentoring the next generation of vets.

The School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences provides world-class, outcome-based education and training of animal and veterinary scientists in a research environment. Based at the Roseworthy Campus, 50km north of the Adelaide CBD and minutes from Gawler, the school is situated on a 1600 ha property that includes a working farm, full service Veterinary Health Centre teaching clinics, and a range of general purpose and specialist teaching and research facilities.  The School offers five academic programs: Animal Science, Veterinary Bioscience, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Animal Behaviour and Veterinary Technology.

The Veterinary Health Centre (VHC) is the School’s clinical teaching facility which operates on a commercial basis, offering a range of first opinion, emergency and specialist referral veterinary services across all animal species to the general public and referring veterinarians. The VHC has state of the art facilities, technology and equipment, and offers an ambulatory (on farm) service and a campus-based clinic providing veterinary services to owners of production animals and horses in a wide region around Roseworthy. The centre also provides a clinical training environment for final year veterinary students and veterinary technicians working under the close supervision of experienced veterinary surgeons and support staff.

Reporting to the Clinical Service Lead, the Large Animal Primary Opinion Veterinarian provides high quality primary opinion services for equine and production animal patients, on farm and in the clinic. You will also contribute to clinical teaching and supervision of undergraduate students by involving them in clinical case management, providing additional learning opportunities where appropriate and demonstrating the highest standard of clinical and professional behaviour. Additionally, you will provide a range of high quality veterinary services to hobby farms and ‘pet’ livestock owners of all large animal species, dairies and feedlots, and the horse owning community. On occasion, you will be required to assist in the case management of hospitalised patients in the clinic’s hospital and ICU facilities under the guidance of specialists.

This role may require participation in an afterhours on-call roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays. On-call and call-in rates apply in accordance with University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement.

Launch Your Veterinary Career Right in 2021

Port Adelaide Veterinary Clinic - NEW GRADUATE VETERINARIAN

After years of study, you are about to make the single most important decision you will have made to date – who to entrust with your guidance and growth as a new graduate Veterinarian.

Choose well, and all the hard work will pay off as you grow and hone your skills in a supportive clinical environment.

Get it wrong, and in 3 to 6 months’ time you may well be looking for an escape hatch, deflated and questioning your decision to ever become a Vet.

The problem is:

  1. There is not a lot of guidance for new grads about making the decisions;

At Port Adelaide Veterinary Clinic, we are aware of the challenges you face. We also believe that you are about to embark on an exciting and rewarding career that can and should bring you great fulfilment.

Launching your career as a Vet should not stress you out. Worrying about how you will handle yourself in a consult room, your first surgery, whether you know enough or what might happen if you make a mistake shouldn’t overshadow the excitement of you achieving a career milestone in a wonderful industry.

At Port Adelaide we understand you. We understand the need to launch your career right.

We have an amazing opportunity for a stand out new graduate.

Why is it so amazing?

You Will Be Supported Every Step of Way

You will also enjoy:

And because we would like you to enjoy your additional Annual Leave, you will also receive a gift of a $5000 bonus at the end of your first year of service!

And we think we live and work in a pretty good part of the world too!

But Don’t Just Believe Us…
Here is what one of our team members has to say:

KANGAROO ISLAND - MIXED - FULL OR PART TIME New Graduates welcome

Kangaroo Island Veterinary Clinic is searching for a true rural vet who is passionate about working with companion animals, horses and livestock. A strong interest in commercial wool, sheep meat and beef cattle production would be preferable. We are proud to be one of the few clinics in Australia that offer a large array of ovine services to our community. We are looking for a full time vet but would also be keen to hear from vets interested in a part time role.

Your roles within the business would include:

The Kangaroo Island Veterinary Clinic has been established for 38 years. It is a rural mixed practice that sees approximately 50% small animal and wildlife, 30% ovine, 15% bovine and 5% equine work.

The newly expanded purpose-built clinic accommodates small and large animal consults and 30 minutes is the standard minimum consult time to optimise our vet-client relationship and satisfaction.

It also features a large farm animal retail section for provision of products backed by high quality, specific advice from qualified staff with a thorough understanding of animal and farming systems.

The small animal facilities are continually expanding and upgrading and include fully computerised PMS, digital x-ray, ultrasound machines, full surgical suite and full in house laboratory.

The clinic is located just 3km from Kingscote, the major town servicing the Island. You won’t be missing anything on this Island – the substantial tourism and agriculture sectors support an array of amenities locally, including various art and sporting facilities and clubs, a well equipped hospital, horse riding groups and several schools and supermarkets. It is only a short 20 minute flight to the capital city of South Australia, Adelaide. The Island is a remarkable place that provides a unique lifestyle unlike anywhere else. A lot of our team members have relocated to Kangaroo Island to enjoy what it offers with their family – an incredible unspoilt natural environment with wide expanses of beaches and bush, authentic wildlife experiences, premium local food and wine, art inspired by peaceful, wild surrounds and the opportunity for agricultural ventures.

The successful applicant will be joining our tight knit team of 5 vets and 7 support staff. You must be a team player with great enthusiasm and a good sense of humour! Remuneration for the right candidate is negotiable depending on experience and will be well above award, with annual registration fees also paid for and training in areas of special interest encouraged.

Experience is not necessary as we believe attitude is everything and skills can be developed through ongoing training – so new graduates are very welcome to apply!

Our team is our greatest asset so we make it a priority to find the right people. We want everyone to have fun, love their job and have the time to enjoy their wonderful surrounds outside of work.
