“It is with great joy that I am leaving ..., well I am going on maternity leave! However, I WILL miss the amazing team of vets and nurses with whom I have worked since graduating at the end of 2015. I do hope to come back in some capacity as I cannot imagine finding a better professional environment, nor a better nurturing, friendly, family of cohorts!!!  l really love working here, and cannot recommend this position highly enough.

Thank you Ian and Ali for taking me on, and giving me the best start to my professional life that I could have imagined.

Sincerely, Dr E C  J “

Many thanks Ella for your kind words and we all wish you well as you start on your new adventure!

However, this provides an opportunity for someone else to join our wonderful team of eight vets in a supportive, welcoming and co-operative environment...with excellent facilities in a wonderful location close to both the Adelaide’s beaches and the city.

The position would ideally suit a veterinarian with a level of surgical skill to undertake routine surgeries and has wonderful consulting and interpersonal skills – as such, a competent vet with a minimum of 1 or more years small animal experience would be encouraged to apply!  If you are a competent surgeon with many years experience you should also consider applying as we have a significant case load of interesting surgical cases, including averaging one cruciate surgery per week. Obviously you will have a week’s paid study leave annually.

All of our vets are paid above award and I look forward to discussing this with you.  (I have added a couple of emails from our vets at the end of the advertisement!)

Choose well, and all the hard work will pay off as you grow and hone your skills in a supportive clinical environment.

Get it wrong, and in 3 to 6 months’ time you may well be looking for an escape hatch, deflated and questioning your decision to ever become a Vet.

The problem is:

At Port Adelaide Veterinary Clinic, we are aware of the challenges you face. We also believe that you are about to embark on an exciting and rewarding career that can and should bring you great fulfilment.

Launching your career as a Vet should not stress you out. Worrying about how you will handle yourself in a consult room, your first surgery, whether you know enough or what might happen if you make a mistake shouldn’t overshadow the excitement of you achieving a career milestone in a wonderful industry.

At Port Adelaide we understand you. We understand the need to launch your career right.

We have an amazing opportunity for a stand out new graduate.

Why is it so amazing?

You will be supported every step of the way

Your professional and technical growth will be encouraged

You will become part of a truly incredible team

Anyone can say that but:

You will be rewarded personally for your efforts

We believe you should work to live and not live to work. What that means is:

You will also enjoy:

And, because we would like you to enjoy your additional Annual Leave, you will also receive a gift of a $5,000 bonus at the end of your first year of service!

Also, we think we live and work in a pretty good part of the world too!

But don’t just believe us…

Here is what our most recent new team member has to say:

“Port Adelaide Vet Clinic is a great place to work. The clinic has a high support staff to vet ratio and is very well equipped. I love the thorough team approach to veterinary medicine. We see a variety of surgical and medical cases and there is plenty of opportunity to develop further skills. The clinic has a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged to contribute and learn" Dr Beverley Stanley-Clarke

Next Steps

If what you read sounds exactly like where you would like to launch your Veterinary career, then follow the instructions below to make your Application.

We invest heavily in our new Graduates to give them the best possible start. That also means that our decision on who we choose will not be made lightly!

We are looking for someone with passion, enthusiasm and an excitement to learn and grow.
