New Full-time Position Available - recent Graduate.

Balmain Vet Hospital is seeking a vet for our busy inner city practice.

This position will suit a young and enthusiastic vet with 1-3 years’ experience who is keen to consolidate the skills learnt in their first couple of years in practice, and work within a friendly team to service an excellent clientele in one of the best spots in Sydney. The practice has an emphasis on staff harmony and is a strong supporter of the continuing education of our nurses and vets. The practice partners have all undergone training in leadership and we are a preferred employer of the Lincoln Institute. Our team has worked hard to become high performing and we have a fantastic work culture. We hold daily rounds to discuss hospital and surgical cases together, as well as talking about ideas that could help us improve and grow as a practice.

You must be willing to work hard and be able to communicate openly with both staff and clients in an engaging and friendly manner. The practice becomes very busy at times and the successful applicant must be organised and be able to work at a reasonable pace.

Balmain Vet Hospital has a strong focus on practicing high quality medicine and surgery. We are committed to continuing education and both career and personal development for our staff. Our nurses have above average skills and are a vital part of our patient care. Above all the successful person must have a good sense of humour and not take themselves too seriously. You must be able to fit in with and complement the team. We are particularly interested in the personal attributes of applicants and how they would integrate with our team of vets, nurses and receptionists.

We have an excellent relationship with local specialist practices and our practice is an excellent platform to launch into ANZCVS membership exams, which is strongly encouraged. Our vets have a wide range of interests and hold MANZCVS qualifications in Surgery, Medicine and Radiology. You must possess a strong desire to improve yourself professionally and personally.

The practice has up-to-date equipment to enable thorough investigation of our patients including:

We maintain a flexible roster to allow lifestyle commitments, and vets work a four day week on average including 3 weekend days per 4 week roster. We run our consultations by appointments.

In addition, the practice has a 5 star Cat boarding facility upstairs, and runs a puppy pre-school program in a separate part of the building.

Pictures of the practice may be viewed at www.balmainvet.com.au

The position is full time with no after hours, commencing in August-September 2019.

We would expect a minimum 2 year commitment to the practice, and would prefer longer for the right person.

Interviews will commence immediately for suitable candidates.

The position is not open to new graduates.

NEWPORT, SYDNEY'S NORTHERN BEACHES - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL, SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE New Graduates welcome

FULL TIME/PART TIME POSITION - Sydney Animal Hospitals Newport

Sydney Animal Hospitals, Sydney's largest, non-corporate, family owned practice group, are looking for a full time vet to join our team to allow one of our vets to take a break from practice.

Our rapidly growing practices in Newport and Avalon on the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney need a new team member. We are looking for a compassionate, experienced Veterinarian (minimum 2 years preferable, new and recent graduates would be considered) with good communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a great team at our Newport Hospital.

We strive to provide both exceptional patient care and great customer service.

This is what our clients have to say about us:
"I can highly recommend this vet! The staff is so nice, professional and knowledgeable. When we brought in our little dog to get de-sexed, they took such good care of him. We had to go back several times for a little check up on the wound and later to get the stitches removed. All the front desk ladies I met are so polite and outstanding at their job. They could all answer any of the questions I asked them and knew exactly what was happening with my dog without even having to look up his file on the computer. Similar, the two vets I talked to were both highly qualified and knowledgeable. At this place, I could really feel that the people working here truly love their job and my dog's health and happiness was their top priority"

"I highly recommend Sydney Animal Hospitals Newport. My partner and I recently took our kitten to get vaccinated and microchipped. Being avid dog lovers, this was uncharted waters for us. But, we felt completely comfortable in the hands of Dr Ben Brown, who was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The practice has great facilities and easy parking for clients. Definitely a positive experience and will be back."

This is what our vets have to say about us:
"I would like to thank you both, and the entire staff, for everything that you have done for me over the last two and a half years. I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Sydney Animal Hospitals, and feel very fortunate to have been able to work along side such a great team. I would particularly like to thank you, Ben, for all the support and guidance you have offered me; you are an extremely talented veterinarian whose skills I respect and look up to. I have loved my time working in the Northern Beaches, together with all the clients and their pets that I have had the privilege to help. While I am obviously excited about the new challenges ahead, Sydney Animal Hospitals is a unique team, whom I will miss enormously. I wish you all every success; should there be a position available in the future, I would love to work with the team again."

COLLAROY PLATEAU, SYDNEY NORTHERN BEACHES - PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

I am Butternut. I have two hoomans. They don’t feed me enough and have got me on this ridiculous thing called a ‘diet’. I don’t really care what their names are, but I’m pretty sure the other slaves refer to them as Caroline and Lewis. I’m not sure how I feel about Lewis, but Caroline rescued me, so I have to pretend to like her, though she does feed me. These days their level of neglect for me has reached a new high; I meow away and scratch at their legs, but they keep telling me “not now Butternut, we’re too busy”. So, I am demanding a new slave to make sure they have enough time to feed me.

The hospital is filled with all sorts of things I like to sprinkle my fur on and headbutt. I’ve heard the hoomans call them things like a digital x-ray machine, iM3 dental machine with a Vet-tome and dental radiology, ultrasound, orthopaedic kits, cautery, and suction. Caroline, Lewis, and the so-called ‘practice manager’ Eloise are constantly going on about personal & professional development and lots of in-house training days are run with specialists, plus sessions on mental health & work life balance. All I care about is stealing bits of food from these training sessions and sitting on as many laps as possible (only the good ones though; you’ll know if I like you or not).

My business is a small animal family practice so fitting in with the other hoomans is the most important characteristic. If you are good at this whole vet thing and can ensure I get fed, then I might want to meet you.

Now where is that wet food you promised me?

Glenorie is located in a relaxed region of Sydney's beautiful Hills district, with our diverse range of clients coming from urban areas and the surrounding small acreage to rural estates. Whilst around 95% of the case load is small animal, our semi-rural locality allows us to work with a range of species, including dogs, cats, pocket pets, horses, cattle, sheep & goats, as well as wildlife cases as they arise.

Our Clinic was started in the 1970s, and we have developed a wonderful clientele over that 40 year period. Our clients appreciate our friendly and caring approach to Veterinary Science and we have a dedicated team of four Vets and six Vet Nurses. There is no overnight ‘on-call’ duty.

The practice has seen progressive expansion of the facilities over the years including DR digital radiology, dental radiography, iM3 dental suite, Idexx Vetlab station, Catalyst One & Procyte Dx, multiple anaesthetic monitoring devices, tonometry and ultrasound.

One of our Vets has left to undertake an internship in the UK, and we are seeking an equally friendly and capable person as their replacement. Two or more years' experience would be an advantage to the successful applicant. We are looking for a Veterinarian who is seeking a long term position, has an outgoing attitude, a sense of humour and the ability to really connect with clients.

Remuneration will be above award rates, commensurate with experience and it will include four weeks annual leave and one week paid study leave. Continuing education is both encouraged and financially supported. Being so close to Sydney allows both easy access to referral centres, and participation in their wonderful educational seminars.
