The Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) is a well-established referral-only small animal hospital. It offers a wide range of specialist services and provides 24-hour emergency and critical care through its multiple facilities across five states in Australia. The ARH Homebush is offering a surgical internship commencing January-February 2020.
Small Animal Surgery Internship
The intern will work closely with our team of six surgery vets in Homebush (including Small Animal Surgery Specialists, Senior Surgical Registrars, Surgical Residents and Surgery Interns). They will also have close involvement with our other departments (medicine, oncology, dentistry, ophthalmology, exotics, imaging, physiotherapy and animal behaviour). He/she will assist in surgical procedures and be closely involved in the assessment, diagnosis and post operative care of a diverse variety of challenging surgical cases. The successful applicant will also spend time working within the emergency/critical care department as a primary accession clinician. Facilities include DR radiography, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, ECG, in house lab facilities, on site 64 slice CT, 1.5T MRI and radiation therapy.

Interns are expected to participate in daily rounds, regular inter-practice journal club meetings and case presentations. They will be encouraged to complete a published work during their internship and will be supported in the completion of ANZCVS surgery membership examination.
This internship offers an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated, hardworking, experienced and professional individual to work and learn in a busy and friendly referral hospital. There may be opportunities to work at any of our other sites during the 18 months. Candidates must be eligible for veterinary registration in NSW, have at least 1 year of clinical experience, excellent communication skills and a strong knowledge base on which to build. Applicants must also be eligible to work in Australia.
Above-award remuneration is on offer for this position. The successful candidate can expect to be paid a remuneration package of $75,000 - $80,000 dependent on experience. The position includes 4-weeks’ annual leave and 1-week study leave.

There are double brick walls, 3m high ceilings and a green bull nosed verandah around the front of the building. We even have a concrete driveway and carpark! There is an off leash park in the front yard for our customers and their dogs to enjoy.

Orchard Hills is in a growing area located close to Penrith and the lower Blue Mountains. We are close to the M4 motorway.
Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital has been established for more than 30 years and under the current management for 9 years.
We are located in semi rural surroundings on a 5 acre block. There has been steady development of the surrounding areas with lots of new houses being built.
We have continued to maintain steady growth and are currently offering another full or part time position for a motivated small animal veterinarian.

Opening hours are 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 2pm Saturdays, and closed for appointments on Sundays. There is minimal overtime, as we aim to leave on time each day. There is no after hours work.

THE DETAILS:
We are in need of a permanent part-time veterinarian who can help us with the increasing case-load during the weekdays. The new veterinarian will most likely be rostered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays for 7-8 hours shift each PLUS one week in 3 weekends. The hours are flexible, however, and we are happy to negotiate these with the suitable candidate.
REQUIREMENTS:
An ideal candidate should have the following;
- A minimum of 1 -2 years experience as a GP veterinarian who is happy to do a sole-charge shift.

The clinic’s caseload is predominately small animal, however our semi-rural locality allows us to work with a variety of animals including sheep, goats, cattle, pocket pets and some wildlife cases as they arise. A knowledge in these other animals is useful but not essential.
The clinic is open 7 days a week and weekend commitments are shared, but we close at 12pm on weekends. Clinic hours are 7.30 to 7pm with consultation from 8 - 11am and 4 - 7pm and weekends are 8 - 12pm (with consultations from 9 till 12pm). Veterinarians enjoy a long weekend after every weekend worked.
Our wonderful team is currently made up of 3 veterinarians who have special interests in different areas of veterinary science and 5 veterinary nurses of different experience levels, making it a lovely friendly fun environment to work.

We are a companion animal hospital established in 1988.

The Opportunity:
