ROOTY HILL, WESTERN SYDNEY - FULL & PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL, EXPERIENCED & RECENT GRADUATES New Graduates welcome

Rooty Hill Veterinary Surgery

We are seeking both a full time and a part time vet to work in our busy 4 vet practice in Western Sydney. We are looking for 2 days a week but there is flexibility as to which days suit the applicant. Recent grads are welcome to apply. In fact, this is a great practice for recent grads as they get heaps of routine surgical practice.

Western Sydney is a booming area of Sydney especially for young families with the new Sydney Zoo open in our neighbouring suburb.

Our practice is 100% small animal with a varied & busy medical & surgical caseload. The surgery is very well equipped including IDEXX pathology, digital Xray & there are no afterhours. We have plenty of nursing staff who are all very experienced

Two of our nurses have been here close to twenty years with the other 3 being here around 10 years each. They are all nice girls, get on very well & all very welcoming to any new staff.

The full time working roster with 4 vets is a 6 ½ day fortnight & you are never expected to work alone. The average working week is about 34 hour. Our experienced vets have often commented that this is the best roster they have ever worked under as it offers a great work life balance. On the longer days, if we are quiet, there are usually a few hours in the middle of the day to have to yourself.

We have plenty of great reviews on google & facebook & have won 11 small business awards.

We are very negotiable on salary, will pay above award & happy to regularly review your package.

QUAKERS HILL, NORTH WEST SYDNEY - SMALL ANIMAL

Vets @ Acacia Gardens is a vibrant professional and purpose-built clinic located in Sydney's rapidly expanding North-West. We aim to practise veterinary medicine and surgery to a very high standard in a service-orientated and fun-loving environment. Our facilities include an in-house laboratory, digital radiology, dental x-rays and ultrasonography. We also have great relationships with travelling external specialists in diagnostic imaging, cardiology, surgery and oncology – this allows us to investigate and manage a wide variety of interesting medical and surgical cases in general practice.

Our friendly team currently includes five full-time veterinarians alongside eight nurses, a kennel hand and a dedicated receptionist. We are a privately owned and operated veterinary hospital and the practice owners have over fifty years combined experience. One of the practice partners works full-time as the practice superintendent so the associate veterinarians always have their support, and we pride ourselves on our ability to offer a flexible and individual level of service to all our wonderful clients. Our current vets work collaboratively as a tight knit and supportive team - several of our staff members have been with us for over five years.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We are now looking for another full-time vet to add to our growing team. We would prefer a veterinarian with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience, but motivated new graduates will be considered, and we would envisage that a new graduate would work closely with a more senior veterinarian for the first 1-2 months of their career. Our practice superintendent has mentored several new graduates in the past and happily all these graduates remain practising veterinarians and a couple have successfully completed internships and gone onto residency training. This demonstrates that we work to a very high clinical standard and understand the demands of the veterinary industry, so we aim to support our veterinarians and listen to their feedback – a recent example is the adoption of extended contactless consultation during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The position:

Extremely important is the ability to work in a high paced environment, excellent time management, a willingness to get along with staff, and an enthusiastic attitude. Further education is strongly supported, and our practice superintendent has completed a Masters in Small Animal Practice and has attained ANZVCVS Membership in Small Animal Medicine would be excited to mentor any veterinarians considering sitting for ANZCVS membership in the future. We also have an associate veterinarian that is currently undertaking continuing education in veterinary behaviour. We are willing to offer an additional 3% of the annual salary towards CPD or a one-year course through CVE for the successful applicant and would strongly encourage ongoing professional development.

This position is available now so we would love to hear from any interested veterinarians ASAP so please give us a call or send an email to discuss the job and remuneration on offer!

If you are looking for a little inspiration in your career then we can help! Of course we offer the standard stuff – study leave, VIN access, a very competitive salary package and a collaborative (and friendly) vet team with a great range of toys (rads, ultrasound, vet-tome, laser, endoscope, bloods).

We do almost all of our work-ups and treatment inhouse so you get lots of opportunity for hands-on learning. This includes scoping, echo’s, ultrasound, laprascopic gastropexys, PennHIP rads, TTA’s, JPS’s, fracture repairs and more.

What we hope you take advantage of is the ability to explore your career a little further too. If you are keen to study further, we can help. Plus, get paid to work each year alongside VetProjects and helping teach young vets in spey/neutering clinics helping the street dogs of Fiji and beyond.

Ultimately, the more you bring to the team, the more we can help you push your veterinary limits!

What we need from you
We’re on the hunt for a people-person vet to help continue to set high standards of care. This could mean you are a keen recent grad, an up and coming vet with a few years’ experience or a more experienced vet with plenty of already well established skills. We are also open to part time applicants.

We are seeking a vet that has:

As part of the role you will be required to be a team player and work your share of weekends (currently 1 in 4).

Here to help
If you're ready to help lead a clinic towards offering the best in pet and client care and have an adventurous career, then please send your application through to Dr Matt at matt@macquarievets.com.au and we will be back in touch. We look forward to hearing from you!
