A testimonial from a former team member………
I highly recommend Forbes Street Vets if you are looking for a job that will give you case autonomy while having support from colleagues. I was very inexperienced when I started here and had lost a lot of confidence. This was completely changed by working at Forbes Street Vets for the past few years. I’ve learnt how to do many new surgeries with wonderful support from both vets and nurses. There is always someone to discuss your case with whether you need another set of eyes on an xray, discuss a medical case, look at cytology or some encouragement while scrubbed into a surgery. Reception does a great job of not overbooking vets. Our clients come from all walks of life and the vast majority are a real pleasure to work with as well.

NORTH EAST TASMANIA - SCOTTSDALE - MIXED PRACTICE New Graduates welcome

Scottsdale Veterinary Services is seeking a new or recent graduate veterinarian to join their friendly team.  Scottsdale is in the heart of north-east Tasmania, only an hour from Launceston.

You will have some big boots to fill….  Maddy is moving on to her next adventure to test the skills gained over the last 4 years with us.

If you join us as a new or recent grad like Maddy did, you will quickly be competent with:

We have a supportive team of 6 full time equivalent vets plus 3 nurses.  Clinic hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

We are a truly mixed practice with all the usual toys – in house blood machines, ultrasound, digital x-ray with the added advantage of a tipper trailer. When you are on call (only 1:6 rota), all calls are answered by our Tele-Triage team of experienced vet nurses.  This means that you are not disturbed for non-urgent enquiries.

We not only have a great working environment, with a 9-day fortnight, there’s plenty of spare time to enjoy the region.

Maddy joined the local footy and netball competitions, the local Surf Lifesaving Club, competed in numerous 1/2 marathons, she has climbed all the local mountains and practices yoga on stand-up paddle boards and has eaten at all the local restaurants and our two local distillery and breweries!!  There’s also fishing, world class mountain bike trails & golf courses, more sporting clubs and the beautiful Bridport beaches are just a 15-minute drive away.

In Maddy’s words….

“I came to Scottsdale Vets as a new grad in 2018. I have had the most support one could hope for, a great team of vets to work with and bounce ideas off and who will help you no matter what the hour is. We now have teletriage for after-hours, which is amazing, you don’t have to talk to clients – definitely a game changer! I have been supported in furthering my skills in orthopaedics, bull testing, equine dentistry and everything in between. We have both the perks of being part of a corporate where you have a specialist in every field only a phone call away, however, are also lucky that it is still a family orientated vibe at our clinic, and work isn’t always the first priority. I could not recommend this position enough, I am heading off to get some travelling out of my system, but hope to end back here in the near future!”

Have a look at some of Maddy’s experiences here: https://vimeo.com/699241640
