Full time Small Animal Veterinary Surgeons Required

We are expanding! Due to an increasing work load, we are looking for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join our busy 12 vet mixed practice on the beautiful Isle of Wight. The right candidate will be enthusiastic, work well in a forward thinking and hard-working team and enjoy living in one of the most beautiful places in the UK.

All the usual toys (dental radiography, full in house laboratory, endoscope, digital radiography, ultrasound, underwater treadmill) to help deal with the large medical and surgical caseload. Relatively large exotic caseload will allow for anyone interested to gain experience and expertise in this area, though not compulsory.

Out of hours expected but fully supported. Accommodation and vehicle can be supplied alongside generous package, CPD encouraged and supported, six weeks annual leave, regular weekday half day and 1/3 Friday afternoons off.

All experience levels welcomed. Role available from summer 2019.

SCOTLAND, SUTHERLAND - MIXED - FULL OR PART TIME New Position

We are currently looking for Mixed Vet to join our friendly team, as our Australian vet is heading home.

Our main branch is located in Rogart, Sutherland in the beautiful and scenic Highlands of Scotland. We have a varied caseload of 60% small animal, 38% farm (beef cattle and sheep) and 2% equine (with backing from local equine only practice).

OOH rota is currently 1:4 but this will hopefully move to 1:5 once the position is filled. Starting time is 9am with last consult finishing at 5pm. Part time applicants are encouraged. We offer a pension scheme, generously funded CPD, medical Insurance, staff discount and funded RCVS fees.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join St George’s Vets on a full time or part time basis in our branch surgery. We offer a high-quality GP service in our branches, and they act as a source of clinical cases for our hospital. The successful applicant will carry out consultations and routine operations, be people focused and work hard at building client relationships.

The role of our branches is to provide excellent veterinary services to their local community. An emphasis is placed on building relationships with clients to really understand their needs and those of their pets. Each branch has a consulting nurse who, together with the vet, should provide the first port of call for clinical and preventative advice. Our branch vets do routine surgery and dentistry. They do not hospitalise patients overnight.

You will have the freedom to develop services and grow the branch surgery putting your own stamp on how things are run. We have a total of six branch surgeries which are fully supported by a hugely talented team of 20 vets, 25 veterinary nurses, management and support staff.

The main hub of St George’s is the RCVS Tier 3 hospital open 24 hours practicing veterinary medicine and surgery to exceptionally high standards. We also run a quality emergency service for our own surgeries and several local practices in the West Midlands with a dedicated team of night staff. Our hospital services include CT scanner, digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental x-ray, in-house blood machines, capnography, physiotherapy, cardiology and orthopedics.

There is no out of hours requirement with this role but you will be expected to work one Bank Holiday per year consulting at the Hospital. Attractive salary package including pension contribution, professional subscriptions, a generous CPD allowance of £1200 per year, staff discount and a well-being scheme.

Job Role

Due to business growth, we have an opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and dedicated team. We allow complete clinical freedom to manage and work up cases, with support and training from experienced vets, should the need arise. Mentoring is offered via designated internal staff and external support through the XLVets mentoring scheme. We actively encourage medical/surgical development for all stages in your career whether you have experience or are newly graduated.

This is a permanent job role and will require working at our main hospital as well as branch surgeries, with realistic 15-minute consults. The role includes working in our OOH rota which is shared with another practice, which equates to working only 7 weekends per year. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar job role, have a clean driving licence and be a team player with high clinical aspirations. However, we will also consider applications from recently qualified, high calibre graduates.
