You will be supported by a fantastic Nursing team, and work together to care for our patients and clients. We are very team focused, and you will need the ability to work well within the team, and commit to the standards and values we have developed together. We value our team’s ideas and input, and know that a high-performing team is key to achieving the best result for all parties, as well as career satisfaction. We regularly work with the Lincoln Institute, allowing our team to learn the non-clinical ‘softer’ skills which can make a huge difference to happiness, job satisfaction, communication, resilience, as well as so many other positives!

Our desire for best-practice medicine permits a satisfying, complete case work up, and we utilise visiting surgical, medical and ultrasound specialists to provide their services in-house when required.

Our enduring aim to exceed our client’s expectations requires a high level of customer service. Your skills with client communication and education will be a key attribute. We strongly value a healthy lifestyle as well as being great vets, so out-of-hours our clients are referred to the local emergency centre to let us all get a good rest and recharge.

We use a lot of modern technology in our client communication, education, and in-house patient care. Our practice software is Ezyvet, which integrates with Smartflow out the back, and our digital S8 book. We are working towards improving our environmental footprint, and have almost transitioned now to being paper-free, as well as improving our waste management.

During the COVID-19 pandemic we have had a strong focus on looking after our team and clients, and have not had clients within the building since March. We are also working split teams and have a detailed COVID-safe plan in place to further reduce risk. Our open hours are currently shorter, with shifts now generally 9.30am – 6.30/7.00pm weekdays, and weekends 10am – 2.30pm. Weekends are shared between our teams. We expect to maintain these changes even with future easing of restrictions from Stage 4 to 3, and potentially even in Stage 2.

We require current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria. We offer the standard (pro-rata) 4 weeks Annual Leave, as well as a bonus RDO in the month of your birthday, and (pro-rata) 1 Week Study Leave. We encourage continual growth and further education, and provide support with conference fees. Development of special interests is encouraged and supported. Salary will be above award, which will be negotiable based on the experience and skills you bring to the role.

I am genuinely looking for that special someone to join the team and help continue building upon the vision…

COLLINGWOOD, INNER NORTH EAST MELBOURNE - FULL OR PART TIME SPECIALIST IN RADIOLOGY

Specialist in Veterinary Radiology

The Centre for Animal Referral and Emergency (CARE) is seeking a registered specialist in veterinary radiology to join our friendly team.

About CARE

CARE is a busy, well-equipped, privately-owned, multi-specialist veterinary hospital located in Collingwood, on the fringe of Melbourne’s inner-CBD. It maintains a strong emphasis on the standard of patient and client care and is distinguished by the cooperative and complimentary involvement of specialist emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, and diagnostic imaging services.  The working environment is friendly and constructive, and the caseload moderated to allow emphasis on the quality, rather than the quantity, of patient care.

Existing diagnostic imaging facilities include digital radiography, Phillips Affinity 50G ultrasound, Siemens Somatom 16-slice CT and Phillips BV29 mobile C-arm fluoroscopy with digital subtraction angiography. Beyond this, there is a strong commitment to the continued expansion and advancement of on-site imaging facilities, with PACS system and digital radiography upgrades in process and future plans for high-field MRI installation.

The position

An opportunity exists for a specialist in diagnostic imaging who enjoys and values integration and positive interaction with specialists in other clinical fields with the intention of optimising patient management. This clinical exposure has the potential to be interesting and rewarding, and the direct involvement of the diagnostic imaging specialist in clinical problem solving is well established, welcomed, and well respected among existing staff of the hospital.

The position involves performing and providing reports for diagnostic ultrasound examinations, the ad hoc provision of diagnostic imaging advice and interpretation to facilitate case management within the hospital, responding to email enquiries from bona fide referring veterinarians for assessment of diagnostic images and, when possible, the provision of written reports for CT studies performed within the hospital.

Further to the clinical aspects of the role, the diagnostic imaging specialist is central in the provision of advice on the purchase and upgrade of diagnostic imaging equipment and the ongoing expansion of existing imaging services at CARE. Active involvement in the provision of staff continuing education and contribution to the maintenance of diagnostic imaging protocols would be expected.

The working hours of the position are flexible and negotiable, being either part or full time depending on the availability of the successful applicant, and do not typically involve after-hours work.  An attractive remuneration package would be negotiated, including four weeks’ annual leave and one week of study leave annually (full time pro-rata). Relocation assistance is available for successful interstate or international candidates.

How to apply

Applications, including letter of intent and CV, or any enquiries, should be directed to Ms Kelley Johnson at kjohnson@carevet.com.au
