Outer NW Sydney Hawkesbury

Vacancy for an experienced part time veterinarian for our small animal practice at Kurrajong in the Blue Mountains. We are a friendly and well equipped 4 vet practice open from 9-6 weekdays and 9-12 Saturdays with no after hours, and we are looking for an experienced vet for 2/12 days a week, as our current part timer has retired. Ideally the days we would like are Monday or Tuesday, then all day Wednesday and Thursday morning, and possibly a bit of holiday cover, but we can be flexible.

Our equipment includes digital X ray with positioning table, ultrasound, dental X ray, iM3 dental cart and vet tome, in house laboratory, monitors and BP monitors, laser and stance analyser and good quality surgical and anaesthetic equipment. Equally importantly we are situated next to a cafe and have an air fryer in the lunch room. Our main client base consists of lovely pet owning clients, who are interested in their pet’s health and well being, so a good client manner is essential. We are very invested in the good mental health of our staff, so although we are busy, we almost always have a calm and cheerful workplace. We book 15 minute appointments, longer if required, to alleviate everyone’s stress. (Vet, owner and pet).

We pay well above award, with a generous CPD allowance and we are a reasonable commute from W and NW Sydney suburbs (against the traffic) but you will need to drive, as we have minimal public transport. We also offer a very local home visit service for vaccination and some routine appointments. We have a regular visiting specialist surgeon for challenging cases.

We would consider a full time new graduate for this position, and provide support and training. Very occasionally (and on Saturday mornings) there might be a sole charge half day (due to holiday or sickness), but we usually have 2-3 vets in the building at all times, for mutual support and to deal with the workload.

If you think that this might be the job for you please e-mail for the attention of Nick. We look forward to meeting you!

Veterinary Position Available
Armidale NSW
Full-time, Part-time
Experienced or New Graduate

About Us
We’d like to let you in on a well-kept secret. Mixed practice and living in the country gives you a far more interesting workday and makes it so much easier to balance work and play. Your commute is easy, with no tail-light meditation needed (just the occasional cow), and you’ll have time to play sport, enjoy cultural activities, sample the local cuisine and wineries, explore some spectacular country and build life-long connections in the community.

We are a thriving 4 vet mixed practice whose vets have a combined 80yr + experience between us. We all have our own interests but combine well to cover the varied and sometimes unpredictable caseload that makes up our day. Most things can be solved between us, but we are also willing and able to refer or liaise with specialist clinics when needed.

Approximately 70% of the caseload is small animal (inc pocket pets, birds and wildlife), the remainder beef cattle, pleasure and competition horses, sheep, goats, alpacas and the very occasional camel. The equine component could be expanded should there be interest.

Please click here to see photos! photos

About the role

We also want you to develop healthy connections in the community so can prioritise your sporting, social and cultural commitments.

About Armidale
Armidale is Australia’s highest city. We like to say that because it makes us seem important, but really, it’s because we have a cathedral. The New England Conservatorium of Music and New England Regional Art Museum both punch above their weight for the arts. The local National Parks have jaw dropping views of the gorge country and you can enjoy the spectacular drive along Waterfall Way to the coast, for some seriously good beaches.

Housing is affordable and if it’s land you need for all the animals you own, you’ll have plenty of options for acreage, large and small. There are daily flights to both Sydney and Brisbane.

We encourage and provide opportunities for continued education both professionally and personal self development, including one week study leave plus 4 weeks annual holiday. Experienced Vet Required

We aren’t perfect, and we don’t expect to be. Our goal is to do the best we can with the resources we have, and continually strive for improvement. Caring for and learning about animals of many types, developing relationships with clients and their animals, and sharing the joy of a successful outcome - that’s what makes our day rewarding. Compassion is one of our strongest values.

We are companion animal vets – with pet birds, reptiles, rabbits and rodents making up 25% of our case load. None of our vets focus solely on one species. When faced with the unfamiliar we all start from first principals, then seek help from those with more experience.   We have 4 vets on our team with MANZCVS in avian health.

We have a growing veterinary rehabilitation department, with a Certified Canine Rehabilitation therapist (vet) and assistant focused on restoring fitness and function to our post op, geriatric and neurological patients.

We provide discounted services to the local RSPCA shelter and treat wildlife free of charge. Occasionally we see animals from one of the local wildlife parks.

We have all the bells and whistles most small animal practices have – with access to a mobile specialist surgeon and mobile veterinary ultrasonographer for the tough cases. The nearest referral centre is only an hour away and we have a local emergency centre to divert after hours work to if we choose.

We are open 8am – 7pm Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm Saturday and on Sunday we tend to inpatients and emergencies for existing clients only.  We can offer flexibility in hours worked – part time or full time – tell us what you want and we will do our best to accommodate. Salary is dependent on the skills and experience you bring, above award and includes access to continuing education and a veterinary industry specific employee wellness program.

Interested, or want to know more - please give me a call on 0403 282 285 or email - Kim Fryer

We at Warrawong Veterinary Clinic are unfortunately in dire need of a Veterinarian Assistant. Due to two of our very valued staff having to leave we have been left with one aged vet, me, and 3 wonderful experienced previous staff lending a hand to help us out as permanent casuals.

I established the practice over 40 years ago, only 5 kilometres from my childhood home. The practice therefore has developed as a very family orientated organisation.

We are generally very busy with a vast array of patients and problems. Mostly Dogs and Cats, some Birds but a fair spattering of Pocket Pets, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and all the Reptiles – none venomous. I developed an interest in native animals many years ago and we see a few a month to keep up the joy.

We have most of the equipment desired – in house idexx pathology, ultrasound with access to visiting specialist ultrasonographer, orthopaedic equipment with a visiting specialist surgeon for more difficult problems, automatic processor etc. What is expected now was non-existent when we kicked off.

Having graduated in an era where the Uni was the only referral many surgical procedures are accommodated and encouraged to try.

Wollongong has blossomed from a Steel City to a service centre for the South Coast. The pollution has gone. The gutters no longer rust and the beaches are all pristine.

The surf and the bush are only minutes away. It’s a three minute drive to the best of our beaches at Port Kembla.

Our new employee, as mentioned, would be welcomed with great delight. The position would be a 9 day fortnight. If any weekend day is worked then a weekly day off is earned. Consulting is morning and afternoon with time 2 to 4 hours for surgery if scheduled, in the middle of the day.

The staff are all good mates, spending time out of work hours socialising. Most of the nurses work part time giving time for family activities/emergencies or sport/hobbies etc.

We are small enough that any difficulty professionally is shared and usually can be nutted out.

If needed Sydney’s south is less than an hour away by road. The CBD could be and extra hour, with the traffic being why we are situated here. The train now takes half the time it did in the beginning. But Wollongong with over 250,000 happy souls has seen the town develop everything you could desire.

Hopefully, if interested, please call. Colin Pinney, 02 4274 6155 or 0421 950 918 or

An additional team member, either recent graduate or experienced vet, seeking the chance to further develop excellent all round clinical skills (and perhaps more advanced surgical skills), wanting the opportunity to work for an experienced practitioner who not only has these skills himself but also a keen interest in supporting less experienced vets in their journey to develop theirs.

A vet with sound up to date theoretical knowledge, demonstrated clinical skills, a dedication to continued learning and the willingness and drive to expand their abilities in all aspects of clinical practice.
A vet who is passionate and genuinely likes helping people and their pets to achieve the best outcome.

Team Member Testimonial.
Working at WQVH has been everything I hoped for in my New Graduate job. Whilst being busy and challenged (during the very challenging year of 2020!), I have been supported every step of the way both personally and in my professional development. The hours are very fair and the salary is rewarding. Additionally, I have been able to manage a great work life balance this year, which is not something many Veterinarians can say! As a team, we believe in evidence-based learning and providing exceptional care. We fulfil this ethos by regularly updating our equipment and facilities and having regular staff meetings to improve our protocols. I know I will continue to grow as a Veterinarian and as a person at this practice. WQVH is not just a vet clinic but a fun, supportive community who care tremendously about clients, their pets and anything else that comes through the doors. I would choose WQVH ten times over and recommend it to any new graduate or experienced vet.

And Bathurst, a thriving regional centre of over 40,000 people, only 200 km from Sydney, offers most of the amenities of a large city - without the traffic jams!

The hospital is purpose-built and the work is predominantly companion animal (well over 90%), but there is a variety of large animal and wildlife work available for vets who are interested.

The work environment is open, friendly and supportive and veterinarians are encouraged to discuss cases with each other whenever possible. We strive to practise the highest quality medicine and surgery and there is ample opportunity for veterinarians to develop their skills and special interests. The relative proximity to Sydney also allows referral to specialist centres when required.

The position is flexible and can be structured to suit individual circumstances, e.g. full-time, part-time, small animal only or mixed animal. Both experienced and new graduates are encouraged to apply. The remuneration package and benefits are negotiable and dependent on experience. The annual holiday allowance is 4 weeks, with an additional week of paid study leave. After hours is shared equally and will only start after the third month of employment for new graduates. Vets are also rostered off 1 day per week and vets who work on a Saturday receive an additional day (Friday) off the following week.

The hospital is equipped with 5 anaesthetic machines, 2 iM3 dental machines, digital radiography including dental x-ray, ultrasound, video endoscope, ECG, in-house IDEXX lab, pulse oximeters, Doppler, tonometer, etc. As a significant centre for canine reproductive services, the hospital also has all the equipment required for canine semen collection, storage and artificial insemination.

New Year, New Job - it’s time to make that move!

Confident Vet Needed for Small Animal Weekend-only Emergency Clinic in the Byron Shire

About This Role
We need a level headed confident vet who has the ability to multitask. On many of the shifts you will be in sole charge, with the support of experienced nurses. You will need to be a reasonably confident surgeon for things like foreign body removal, though more difficult cases can be referred to another emergency service an hour away. You will not be expected to perform any orthopaedic work. Ultrasound skills are a bonus: we can teach some basic emergency uses if you are not familiar.

About Us
We started in 2015 with a mission to raise the standard of after-hours care in our area whilst providing a fun, professional and progressive workplace where everyone has room to learn and grow. Our vision is to create a 24-hour after hours service - we’re not quite there yet, but currently run 24 hours from Friday night to Monday morning and all the public holidays.

Our Location
We’re about 10 minutes from Byron Bay, in the beautiful hinterland town of Bangalow, serving all of the Northern Rivers. The landscape is beautiful, the people are friendly and their pets very much part of the family.

About You
We truly believe that everyone has something different to offer to our team and it’s more important to us to find the right person to join us than to have all the skills from day one. So, even if you’re a GP vet who hasn’t worked in an emergency clinic, we can teach you about the differences. It can be busy and chaotic at times, so we need someone level-headed with a can-do attitude. You’ll have the support of a fun, friendly and motivated team with you and the benefit of an enviable work-life balance to relax and enjoy this beautiful part of the world when you’re not working. Work hard, play hard is the theme.

How to Apply
We have flexible shifts on offer so, if you feel you align with our values and are looking for a change then get in touch. Please contact Dr Ailsa Rutherford

About the Position:

If your answer to the previous paragraph is Yes!!, we would like you to join the team at Cowra Veterinary Centre.   Due to ongoing growth in our business and our determination to be a family-friendly and mental-health friendly employer, we need more help.  We are flexible about the position being full time or part time; we are also flexible about employing an experienced veterinarian or a new graduate and will negotiate salary accordingly.

Then there is an opportunity here for you.

I’m Dr Andrew and together with Dr Erica; we are the newly minted owners of the Western Rivers Veterinary Group located an hour west of Dubbo in Central West NSW.
After 5 and half years working in the clinic I decided it was a great idea to buy the business and convinced Erica to quit her role as a government Vet to join me! We both graduated JCU about 7-8 years ago and have a clear vision of what we want to create:

If being appreciated and well paid are important…

If working in a team where everyone pulls their weight equally (no double standards) sounds good…

Then read on!

Who are we looking for?

You will be perfect for our team if…

Tell me more you say…

Our primary clinic is in Warren but we also have a home in Nyngan and service a few other satellite clinics each month.
Our clients are the best! Predominantly they are beef and sheep producers and small animal owners. They really appreciate having a local Vet. They love us and we love them!
And what about the cases?
With the smallies we do it all with a heavy focus on preventative medicine.
We see lots of farm accidents…
Think broken legs/torn tendons in sheep yards, mangled feet in motorbike chains, hay forks through abdomens, you name it, we’ve probably treated it or about to….

We have the capacity to tackle orthopaedics in house but have the option to refer medical and surgical cases to specialists in Tamworth, Sydney and Wagga Wagga.

We also love being outside, not just to top up our VitD levels but to work with our producers on the rebuild post ’17, ’18, ’19 drought. A day out could include: bull testing, preg testing, cattle AI, disease investigation, herd/flock management consultation, equine dentals/surgery/AI/reproduction/lameness etc.

If you love variety, we got bucketloads!

If you want to check out where we work and who we are, please see the photo gallery.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Whats in it for you?

If you have the skills we’ve got the package that fits!
We are keen to create a package that suits you (we know one size doesn’t always fit all).
We are not just saying this because it sounds good…

We genuinely care about the happiness and fulfilment of our vets. You can be confident that we appreciate and reward our team for high quality and dedicated work. Life-work balance is our priority because long term, we want this to be a place you don’t want to leave.
Afterhours roster is 1 in 3 and we are nearly always around to help-out (especially for a new grad).

And it’s not like we are in the middle of nowhere!
Warren is an agricultural town. There are heaps of young people either on properties or who work at businesses that service the Ag Industry (like ours). Between playing/watching footy, going to the pub/balls/races, having a hit of social tennis or throwing a netball around you’ll meet heaps of great people.
Dubbo is an hour away and has everything you need. The airport (post ‘Rona’) services Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne daily and we think it’s important that everyone gets away regularly.

Got some more questions?

Give us a call anytime to have a chat. We would love to have a yarn about whether we might be just what you’re looking for!

For all enquires please phone Andrew (Robbo) on 0429 808 814 or Erica on 0433 490 580 or forward your resume to

Our vets are entitled to (and encouraged to take) a one-hour lunch break each day, and we avoid scheduling consultations between 12.15pm and 2:30pm to ensure staff have enough time to have lunch and finish writing up morning consults. Our last consultations for the day are scheduled at 5:30pm, allowing enough time to finish up and get home on time (most of the time!).

We are looking for a keen, team-oriented veterinarian, who wants to work in a professional, and supportive. Our ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years experience, preferably more but capable new graduates are also encouraged to apply. Special interests in surgery would be highly regarded (but are not essential).

Should you be interested, there is the opportunity to buy into the practice in the future.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, well above award, and regularly reviewed. All the usual entitlements to holidays and study leave apply. Continuing education is encouraged, and any special interests will be actively supported.

We are a friendly team, who regularly share baked treats, homegrown produce and spend time together outside of work drinking wine, bushwalking and horseriding.

Griffith is a fast-growing regional centre, surrounded by culture, wineries, and fantastic food. There is an airport which operates flights to and from Sydney and Melbourne each day. For the athletically inclined, there are local teams for nearly every sport, and the Cocoparra National Park is just around the corner!

To apply for this position, or for further information, please contact Dr. Kim Martel, the practice owner/manager, by phone or email. We are also happy to put you in touch with any of the associate veterinarians (past and present!), if you’d like to hear of their experiences at this practice.

Full or Part Time
Preferably mixed animal vet but small animal vet considered

Clarence Valley Vet Clinic is looking for a 3rd vet to join our team. We will even consider taking on 2 new graduates if a suitable experienced vet can't be found, so you could potentially bring a friend from uni and start your careers together.

We are located in Grafton in the sunny Northern Rivers of NSW. Grafton is on the banks of the mighty Clarence River, which is ideal for kayaking, water-skiing, sailing etc (we can supply kayaks and a ski boat if you are keen to hit the water). There are numerous beaches from Yamba to Coffs Harbour within an hour's drive, and picturesque mountain National Parks and white-water rivers within an hour's drive to the west.

Our work is mainly small animals including routine consultations and desexings, but we also deal with more complex medical and surgical cases including some orthopaedics.

We also provide horse and cattle services. Elective horse work includes castrations, hendra vaccinations and basic dentistry, while elective cattle work includes pregnancy testing and bull breeding soundness exams (PREgCHECK and BULLCHECK accredited vet in clinic). Emergency equine and cattle services are also provided including horse wound management and bovine dystocias.

Our clinic is currently being renovated and expanded. This work will be completed before the end of 2020 and will provide a more comfortable and well-equipped work environment. We have a great team of nurses to work with, and an appreciative clientele.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Ideally, we are seeking a vet who will be happy with a mainly small animal workload, but willing to undertake some large animal work when required. A small animal only vet would be considered. The practice has a well-equipped work vehicle for large animal work, or a mileage allowance would be paid for a private vehicle if preferred. After hours would be 1 weekend in 3 (Clinic open Saturday mornings only on weekends), and one weeknight per week. Rostered days off after a weekend worked will be possible, days worked per week can be flexible anywhere from 3 to 5 days per week.

Salary is negotiable, depending on experience. Partnership potential exists for a vet willing to commit to the district and take on some of the challenges of business management for the corresponding financial reward.

All the vets were incredibly knowledgeable and were willing to share this knowledge amongst each other if a difficult case came in. I can highly recommend Mount Hutton Pet Hospital as a workplace and would gladly take a job here if I was looking at permanent work in the Newcastle area.”
