NORTH COAST, YAMBA - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Maclean & Yamba Veterinary Clinics

POSITION AVAILABLE – PERMANENT FULL or PART-TIME VET SMALL ANIMAL YAMBA – North Coast NSW

If you want a relaxed coastal lifestyle with a job in a practice that supports the professional and personal development of their whole team then you should consider us!

So why are we looking for another vet? Two of our vets are reducing their hours due to maternity leave and study commitments so we are looking for another small animal vet to join our 5-vet, two clinic practice in Maclean & Yamba. Our current vets range between 2-20+ years of experience and everything in between.

Why should someone move to our area? Because quite simply it is one of the most stunning coastal locations in Australia, with national parks, surfing reserves and a perfect mix of river, ocean and country lifestyle, all within only 3 hours of the nearest capital city Why should you choose our practice over the hundreds of the other clinics crying out for vets? We strive to do the best we can do for our patients and our community. We love continuing education for our team and regularly get experts in their field to come and do in-house training so everyone from our wet-behind-the-ears nursing students to most crusty old vets can be kept up to date with the latest development. (And if you can start by mid-Feb then you’ll be able to join in on an awesome two day in-clinic wetlab on dental radiograph and extractions techniques given by two of the dental gurus based in the Big Smoke). We also participate in the Lincoln Institute’s leadership programs to help with team development.

Why would it be a great decision for you if you are a new grad? As we aren’t short-staffed and have a bunch of experienced vets on our team there is no risk of being dropped in the deep end. We are primarily recruiting for someone so when we have vets on leave (which with 5 vets is about half the year) then we won’t need to get locums in. We have a staged transition plan for our new grads with double length consults initially as well as fortnightly vets meeting where cases, new products and CPD updates are discussed.

What’s the catch? You have to participate on our on-call roster. Yes, doing on-call sucks BUT as a regional practice we feel it is important that our patients have access to veterinary care when they need it not just when it’s convenient to us to open the doors. That being said, you will be compensated for weekends as though you worked the full day, not just been on call and the roster is only 1 night per week and 1 weekend a month. Once confident you will also need to be capable of sole charge, since let’s face it as no one really likes doing Saturdays much, we only roster a single vet on at each clinic so the rest of the team can have a well-deserved weekend off!

Still interested? The drop Megan a line either by emailing aurora.vet.ross@gmail.com or call on 0488 948 782

Please note: We are happy to consider international vets, as half our existing team are not Aussies however, we will only accept applications from vets who have registration in Australia.

BARRABA, NEW ENGLAND - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcome
nandewar

NANDEWAR ANIMAL HEALTH SERVICES - Genuine mixed practice veterinarian

This is not a pretend mixed-practice job that sees a few farm animals and horses but largely confines you to practice-driven protocols in the consult room. This is a genuine rural mixed practice servicing efficient commercial livestock producers, mostly beef and a little dairy (40%), small animal owners with a mix of working dogs and pets (50%) and horse enthusiasts (mostly stock-horse and other pleasure horses (10%).

This practice has been the career launch for 30 young veterinarians over the past 4 decades. All remain engaged in our profession and many have progressed into outstandingly successful veterinarians across a variety of disciplines. Among the most common and gratifying comments at a recent reunion of former staff was the appreciation of our excellent client/vet relationships, and the strong support received while simultaneously enjoying the freedom to develop their skills expediently. With approximately 35,000 cattle pregnancy tested each year and around 1,500 bulls examined for breeding soundness, the position would particularly suit an experienced cattle vet, yet a new/recent grad applicant can expect to gain their ACV NCPD Pregcheck accreditation, and potentially Bullcheck accreditation within 12-24 months.

But it’s certainly not all about cattle as we provide a comprehensive service to three rural towns and districts in northern NSW, Barraba, Manilla and Bingara, each with a purpose built facility and a range of equipment at hand, including: horse yards/crush, multiple cattle and horse US scanners, bull testing equipment, DR and CR X-ray machines, dental machines, orthopaedic equipment and in-house blood analyser; indeed, all of the equipment necessary to perform small and large animal medicine, surgery and livestock production services to a high standard. CPD and professional memberships are encouraged and supported.

Our busy and vibrant country communities offer plenty of sports with rugby and rugby league teams, mixed netball, touch football, golf, tennis, cricket, paragliding and abundant horse sports on offer as well as hiking/camping in National Parks and three recreational waterways for sailing, skiing or fishing. Tamworth is a short drive with lots to offer including 6 flights per day to Sydney and Brisbane, while the beautiful NSW north coast beaches are an easy weekend break away.

On offer is an attractive salary package including car, phone, rent assistance, membership and after hours bonuses, and a team environment where you’ll enjoy your professional journey, while a one in four roster ensures plenty of personal time off. Future partnership is a genuine prospect.

Interested applicants please send your resume and cover letter to: Ben Gardiner at ben@nandewaranimalhealth.com.au, or call on 0429 821 317 for any further queries.
