There is a strong emphasis on discussion of cases between colleagues at rounds each day, and we are a practice used to supporting new graduates as they embark on their careers. Bi-monthly webinars, practice membership of CVE, and each veterinarian provided with VIN membership gives all colleagues opportunities to continue to enhance their skills and knowledge. We expect veterinarians to embrace new challenges as experience dictates.

Plans of the building and discussion of our practice can be found at our website www.benetookvet.com.au.

Gundy Veterinary Services provides resident based veterinary care for Arrowfield Stud, Scone in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia. Arrowfield Stud is one of Australia's leading thoroughbred breeding operations, with 11 stallions and 270-300 mares foaling per year. The stud is one of the largest consignors of yearlings in the country with large drafts at most major sales. The state of the art Arrowfield Training Centre, adjacent to the stud is home to Paul Messara Racing where a string of Thoroughbreds are broken and trained including pre-training for some of Sydney and Melbourne's leading trainers.

The position involves sole responsibility for the reproductive medicine of approximately half of the broodmare band and general veterinary care of their offspring year round. Veterinary care of yearlings during sales preparation, as well as a limited amount of sport medicine at the racing stables provides for a varied and year-round work load. The onsite veterinary practice is well equipped with laboratory facilities, digital radiology, ultrasonography, video-endoscopy, and a Shock wave machine. Onsite medical management of mid-level ICU is catered for. An experienced veterinary nurse forms an integral part of our small team.

Gundy Veterinary Services works closely with two of Australia's major equine referral practices for second opinion, surgical referral services, and mentoring.

The Hunter Valley offers a pleasant country lifestyle with several options for junior and senior school, a good range of sporting and recreational facilities. We are 3 hours from Sydney.

A generous remuneration package commensurate with experience is on offer. A car, phone and accommodation are routinely offered with the package. Package will be over $100,000 p.a.

Interested veterinarians should email their applications including a letter of intent, curriculum vitae and the names of two referees to Dr Wendy Perriam at: Wendy@arrowfield.com.au or PO Box 397 Scone, NSW, 2337 Australia. All applications will be in confidence.

NOWRA, SOUTH COAST - FULL OR PART TIME MIXED, PARTNERSHIP POTENTIAL New Graduates welcome
nowra

At the Nowra Veterinary Hospital, we are always looking for enthusiastic veterinarians interested in full or part time work. Ideally, veterinarians would have a few years’ experience in a mixed practice environment, with a cattle/dairy focus. We also welcome interest from new graduates wanting to work in a truly mixed practice. We are hoping to gain an associate who has plans of making a medium to long term commitment to the practice, with a view to partnership after a settling in period. Regardless of experience, it is important to have a genuine desire to work with both small and large animals.

The practice presently consists of 6 full-time veterinarians. We are a busy practice, seeing interesting and diverse cases across numerous animal species. Farm work involves a regular herd health schedule for many of the dairies in the district, as well as a reasonably high number of other cattle, horse and small ruminant calls. We provide the duty veterinarian for Racing NSW at the Shoalhaven City Turf Club. Small animal work ranges from simple vaccinations to complicated medical and surgical cases. We always strive to offer our clients a very high level of service and care.

There are two clinics – the main one in Nowra and another approximately 20 minutes’ drive south. The majority of work time would be spent in the Nowra clinic. Within the next 18 months, a new purpose-built hospital will be constructed in Nowra. Between the two clinics, there is digital radiology, Idexx haematology and biochemistry machines, ultrasound, endoscope, ECG, iM3 dental machine and an electroejaculator. In house bacteriology is also performed. There are practice vehicles equipped for use on farm calls, house visits and after-hours work.

Remuneration is above award and commensurate with experience. All full-time veterinarians receive one day off each week. There is a requirement for after-hours work, currently 1 in 5 weekends and 1 night per week on call. Continuing education is encouraged to further career potential and add value to the practice.

Nowra is situated on the NSW south coast, approximately two hours from Sydney. Pristine beaches are only 20 minutes from town. The picturesque Southern Highlands are less than an hour’s drive away. There is a wide variety of local sporting associations for fitness and socialisation outside work.

Please don’t hesitate to forward a resume or contact the clinic for more information if the prospect of joining the Nowra Veterinary Hospital team sounds intriguing. We would love to hear from you at any time.

ALISON, CENTRAL COAST - FULL TIME MIXED, EQUINE & SMALL ANIMAL VETS WELCOME TO APPLY New Position

We are a 4 Vet mixed practice expanding to 5 in our 1 year old purpose built hospital with fantastic support staff. The majority of the work is small animals, but we are located in the hinterland region of the Central Coast so many of our clients have small acreages with the usual suspects- horses, goats, sheep, alpaca & cattle. They are committed to them as pets in many cases so we do get to do more individual care for them than expected in a more rural mixed practice, which is rewarding.

There is a 4 day working week, shared weekends, on-site accommodation for overnight or weekend use if desired, a four day weekend every month, above award wages and generous bonus system for out of hours work.

The principal has been in practice for 32 years and is happy to provide as much or as little coaching as desired. We do a lot of surgery ourselves, and also have a visiting specialist surgeon for the tougher surgeries like hip replacements, making this an exciting place to work. We can promise no two days will be the same!

The position will suit anybody with some experience in any sort of practice- a Small Animal Vet who'd like the opportunity to work with other species, an Equine Vet who'd like to work with small animals, or a Mixed practice Vet looking for a change of scenery.

The Central Coast is only an hour from Sydney, home to some of the best beaches & bush-walking you'll ever find, sporting teams of every variety, and with enough restaurants & nightlife to make sure there's something for everyone.

We have our own Trivia team for Thursdays at the local Tavern which you're welcome to join!

The Hospital itself is very well equipped with Digital Radiography, Ultrasound, in-house laboratory, two dedicated surgical suites, a large treatment room with prep & dental areas, under cover crush & stables, and a well equipped vehicle for out-calls.

If this sounds like it might suit you, please call or email. We'd like someone who can start mid-January, but sooner would be fine.

Our website is in the middle of its upgrade, but please find us on Facebook for a look through the place.

For more information or to apply, please contact Keith Phillips on keith@coastandvalleysvet.com.au or 02 4355 4704.

TAREE, MID NORTH COAST - FULL TIME SMALL ANIMAL, PARTNERSHIP POTENTIAL New Position

The Manning Valley is situated 3 1/2 hours drive via the Pacific Highway north of Sydney and is placed on the Mid North Coast. We are located in the centre of Taree where we are in the process of building a brand new state-of-the-art veterinary hospital. With this expansion happening we are requiring to expand out veterinary staff.

Currently we are a 2 vet practice with one full time and 2 part time vets. We share on call with our sister hospital in Tuncurry and have a 1 in 4 rota.

The candidate would need to ideally have some veterinary experience and be willing to settle in the area. In return we offer a well balanced laid back veterinary team working with dedicated support staff. Our nurses are well trained and are a tremendous support team. The work environment is 100% small animals and we practice higher end medicine and surgery with all the frills and spills. We have digital radiology, in-house bloods and are planning to expand into dental digital X-rays … and more. The work space is very well equipped and we use RxWorks as software.

The big draw card would be our brand new veterinary hospital which is being built as we speak. It’s going to be 360 sum with 2 consult rooms, a bereavement facility, a large hospital with all the attachments. Refer to plan and pictures.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We will equip it with new equipment which will making work here very amazing. Brand new surgeries, new surgery lights, monitoring equipment, anaesthetic machines, autoclaves, fluid pumps and the list goes on and on …

The whole team here is super excited and very motivated. Working here is fun - it’s a laid back atmosphere where stress is managed with a good sense of humour when possible.

We have a special interest orthopaedic surgeon who does routine TTA stifle reconstruction and other orthopaedic work. We have all the orthopaedic kits and are expanding as well. Other special interests are reproduction with a fair few loyal breeders as clients.

This position has the potential for a partnership. The principal veterinarian is looking at an exit strategy and so the new veterinarian has the opportunity to take over the reins in the future.

The candidate would need to love rural lifestyle. If you’re a city slicker … don’t bother. If however you love the outdoor and are a keen outdoor sports person then this would suit: the Barrington Tops is a world heritage site with amazing bush hiking possibilities. The rest of the hinterland is also amazingly picturesque. Abseiling. rafting, kayaking, river fishing, sailing, beach surfing and fishing and much much more is on offer. We do have culture here as well with the Manning Entertainment Centre.

With other bigger regional towns around the corner, all shopping could be satisfied and with Newcastle and Sydney down the road, all needs should be covered.

Interested parties can contact Dr Geert Lampen at glampen@manningvet.com.au
