Full or Part Time Veterinarian, Wauchope NSW

We are an independent family owned mixed practice in the best part of Australia!

We are looking for a vet with a good sense of humour, who would enjoy being part of a stable and experienced team, practicing and developing great standards of care and customer service. We need someone who wants to be part of a progressive mixed practice, striving to improve and develop ourselves and the lives of our clients, through their work.

Wauchope Vets are looking for a great Vet to join our team. The workload is 85% small animals with about 15% large animal work and with plenty of scope to pursue areas of interest. The small animal workload is very broad. Several of our previous employees have gone onto further studies and we are very proud that none have left the profession!

We have recently renovated and refurbished our practice (completed by end of January 2017) to improve our facilities, work flow and provide a better clinical and work environment for us all.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We are looking for a motivated Vet to complement our team. New graduates are welcome to apply and will be well supported and mentored by our team. A Veterinary degree registrable in NSW is essential, as well as a great sense of humour, a confident and positive attitude and excellent communication skills. We expect you to want to make a difference, to learn and improve yourself, as well as participate and contribute in our meetings, training and development. You must be a team player.

Our large animal component is mainly cattle, with several dairies in our area and small hobby farms, with mostly small ruminants. We no longer do any equine work, after entering into agreement with one of our previous associates, who now does that full time. An interest or previous experience in cattle work would be a great advantage.

We have an after-hours and weekend sharing arrangement with two neighbouring practices, to help us enjoy life in this fantastic part of the world. We have a very capable and well-trained nursing team, as well as experienced Vets and a full-time practice manager available to support, develop and help you enjoy our profession. Wages will be above AVA award and in line with experience and the skills you bring along. CPD is actively supported and encouraged and some provided in-house.

Wauchope is located in an ideal spot, catering for all outdoor interests and pursuits, with great beaches, hinterland, forests, waterways, national parks and the best weather in Australia (CSIRO research!) to make the most of it all. Wauchope is 20 minutes west of Port Macquarie, and the whole area is growing, with great facilities, hospitals, schools and universities. Wauchope is 4 hours north of Sydney, 6 hours south of Brisbane, with daily flights and trains to both cities.

You need to call us!

New and recent graduates as well as experienced vets are encouraged to apply. The position hours can be tailored to suit the right applicant with part-time employment also an option.

The clinics have won multiple local Small Business Awards and are involved in a number of community activities including extensive sponsorship of sporting local clubs.

GRIFFITH, RIVERINA - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Full Time Veterinarian Required
Small animal (90%) Large animal (10%)
Griffith, NSW, 2680

Yoogali Veterinary Centre, situated in the centre of the Riverina, is seeking a passionate veterinarian to join our growing, 5 veterinarian, mixed practice team.

Since March ’19 we have been operating from a new, purpose built, state of the art Veterinary Hospital, with four consulting rooms (one of which functions as a grieving room with separate exit from the hospital), surgical suite with two operating tables, dental suite, a large treatment area, and separate cat and dog wards. We also have two on-site horse stables, with plans for an equine crush in the near future. The hospital is well equipped with all the toys you would expect from a top-quality veterinary hospital, including ultrasound, digital radiography, full Idexx lab, IM3 dental machine, dental radiography, vet-tome, orthopaedic equipment, electrosurgical unit, pulse oximeter, ETCO2, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, endoscopy, tonometry, power float, patient warming systems- what more could you want!

We pride ourselves on trying to deliver gold standard treatment whenever possible, and our hospital is constantly evolving and looking for areas we can improve. With our nearest referral centres 2-3 hours away, there is ample opportunity to work up and follow through on a variety of complex cases.

Our vets work four days per week with one night on call during the week. Weekends are shared equally between our vets and consist of one Saturday shift from 8:30 to 12pm, with the remainder of the weekend on call. This roster allows plenty of time to explore this beautiful region and enjoy yourself!

Our hospital encourages a good work-life balance, and the practice owner tries hard to create an environment where burnout is prevented. Our vets and nurses are entitled to (and encouraged to take) a one-hour lunch break each day, and we avoid scheduling consultations between 12.15pm and 2:30pm to ensure staff have enough time to have lunch and finish writing up morning consults.

Our last consultations for the day are scheduled at 5:30pm, allowing enough time to finish up and get home on time (most of the time!).

We are looking for a keen, team-oriented veterinarian, who wants to work in a professional, supportive and friendly practice. Our ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years experience, but capable new graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Special interests in surgery and/or equine medicine would be highly regarded (but are not essential). Baking and netball skills are also very favourable!

Should you be interested, there is the opportunity to buy into the practice in the future.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, well above award, and regularly reviewed. All the usual entitlements to holidays and study leave apply. Continuing education is encouraged, and any special interests will be actively supported.

Griffith is a fast-growing regional centre, surrounded by culture, wineries, and fantastic food. There is an airport which operates flights to and from Sydney and Melbourne each day. For the athletically inclined, there are local teams for nearly every sport, and the Cocoparra National Park is just around the corner!

To apply for this position, or for further information, please contact Dr. Kim Martel, the practice owner/manager, by phone or email. We are also happy to put you in touch with any of the associate veterinarians (past and present!), if you’d like to hear of their experiences at this practice.

Our dynamic small animal practice is looking for an enthusiastic Full or Part time Vet to join and (hopefully) buy our team. We are currently a 1.5 vet practice but have been turning potential clients away as we just don’t have enough time to give them the high quality care we give all our clients and pets…especially since one of us has just had a baby and is having important time off to help her grow! Turning away clients is doing our heads in (not the baby!!) as we hate turning away pets in need, but cannot reduce the high level of care we need to give to every patient.

It is important that we have the time to work cases up properly whilst being able to maintain a work/life balance so we don’t go insane and leave the profession.

Does this sound familiar? Have you worked somewhere where it’s “go, go, go” with no thought for you or your client and patient’s welfare? 5-10min consults, towing the company line and pushing products you don’t believe in? That’s just SO not us. We are an independent practice whose vets, experienced, qualified vet nurses and Practice Manager “Minnie” (she’s a tortoiseshell with a positive attitude) really get on and enjoy our jobs.

The ideal applicant will have 5-10+ years’ experience and is dreaming about owning our practice. They will be passionate about managing cases, continuing education and communicating well with patients, co-workers and clients.

Being a couple of hours from Melbourne, we are generally able to work up interesting cases ourselves (which is very satisfying!) although we can refer if required.

The vet clinic is a purpose-renovated, heritage-listed building with a great feel. We have quite a few fun “toys” including in-house biochemistry, microscopy, blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, capnography, ultrasound, IV infusion pumps and BAIR Hugger.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We pride ourselves on having happy patients who don’t dread coming to the vet – “bribery and corruption” of pets with treats is standard and someone with an interest in behaviour would be preferred. A love of cats is a must – “Minnie” is very discerning!

Located on the mighty Murray River, top class restaurants, paddlesteamers, wineries, horse riding and waterskiing make Echuca a fabulous place to live. We have a great clientele with minimal after hours calls (our clients really are considerate!).

So if you love being a vet – especially if you’re wanting to own your own practice, and need to keep learning and improving like us, please contact:

Have you lost your Why?

Maybe you have been working for a few years or even new to the profession and are not so clear as to why you get out of bed to work each day.

Let us help you find your why.

We are a privately-owned Veterinary Hospital with two locations, West Gosford and Erina, within a large pet store named Petstock.

This has allowed us to have record growth and have the ability to have an impact beyond the scope of a regular Veterinary Hospital.

An example of this has been our senior Vet going on adventures in outback Australia participating in a dog desexing program. Which was an incredibly rewarding experience!

We could boast about the level of equipment and our extremely supportive team but we know this is not the principle driver in your choice of a job. We are shocked at the ongoing loss of people from our profession and are actively engaged in trying to reduce this in our workplace.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Having just completed three years of leadership training with the Lincoln Institute we have been putting these teachings in place to help support you fully both professionally and personally.

Our job has come about through growth and expansion of our hospitals not through anyone leaving which highlights how serious we are in retaining staff.

We are looking for someone that has a heart for wanting to get to the bottom of problems using all the modern diagnostic tools. We can help you not be distracted by just wanting to give the least cost option to clients in the hope of pleasing them.

We know this can be a major cause of losing your zest and enjoyment of our amazing profession.

The job is ideally full time but would also suit a return to work mum or similar, we are more than happy to discuss different options.

If you want to know more or would like to find out about applying for this role, please email the Clinic owner and Senior Veterinarian Graeme on, or the Practice Manager of our Gosford branch Emily on

Walwa Vet Practice is a hidden secret: a busy, bustling, friendly, country practice nestled in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, and right on the banks of the Murray River. You won’t find a practice like it anywhere else! If this sounds like you’re kind of job PLEASE READ ON!

Walwa is an engaging little town with a great sense of community, situated right on the Murray River in the drought proof Upper Murray region of North East Victoria. There are three cosy country pubs close by, and someone will always be willing to have a beer with you after a hard day’s work! There are plenty of things to do outside of work, thanks to our unique location; fishing, horse riding, swimming, kayaking, bushwalking, skiing, camping, along with a very welcoming local football and netball club.

We have 5 vets, in addition to our office manager, administrative assistants and three great vet nurses. Three of the vets have graduated within the past 4 years from Charles Sturt University, James Cook University and University of Melbourne, and will provide invaluable guidance for new graduates joining our team. The work is 50% small animals and 50% large. Large animal work is varied and rewarding. We have a number of significant beef enterprises that we proudly service along with a small number of dairy farms. We do around 30,000 pregnancy tests a year and a large number of bull soundness evaluations. We are also lucky enough to see regular, individual clinical cases including lameness exams, downer cows, dystocias, calf illnesses etc.

There is a large equine component. We do basic horse work out on the road including castrations, wounds and colics. We have hospital facilities for more challenging cases and a specialised reproduction barn for the breeding season.

Our small animal hospital is busy and growing. We have clients bringing their animals to us from far and wide. We service four different animal rescue groups, which makes for all sorts of interesting cases. We deal with all surgical challenges, with very few cases being referred on. We have recently installed an in house IDEXX diagnostic lab, in addition to our existing digital radiography and portable ultrasound.

No day in this practice is the same! Besides the usual species, we also see alpacas, deer, sheep, goats, bison, camels, birds, kangaroos, wombats, mice, ducks- the list goes on! Special interests are encouraged.

The purchase of the Tumbarumba Veterinary Practice in July 2018 has further expanded our client base, and range of cases. There is a trip to the small town of Batlow once a week, as well as frequent farm visits within the surrounding areas. Vets are on rotation between the two practices depending on case load, with most major surgery being referred down to Walwa.

One of the partners also owns and runs a practice in Tennant Creek, NT (Barkly Veterinary Practice). This operates via a rotation of vets from Walwa, as well as locums when needed. Tennant Creek is on the Stuart Highway, roughly halfway between Alice Springs and Katherine, in the centre of the Northern Territory. The town is the administrative centre for the vast and beautiful Barkly Region. The town population is around 3,000, 80% of which are Indigenous. There are six Community Living Areas outlying the township, six main remote communities, and about 20 Homeland communities. The indigenous clientele are highly valued and ever growing. We also do horse work, and there is potential for cattle work on the closer stations.

The clinic is supported by an indigenous vet nurse and an office administrator. The Barkly practice also implements Animal Management Programs within the township and across the Region, in collaboration with Barkly Regional Council. Remote AMP work generally involves a team headed by two vets. We have a designated remote work 4WD, as well as a town 4WD.

Rotations at the Barkly Practice offer a unique exposure to Central Australia and indigenous communities.

This job offers a unique opportunity, in which the applicant will have the close mentorship of five fantastic, very experienced vets. We are offering a generous new graduate salary, with minimal after hours obligations. As a new graduate, the successful applicant would be mentored closely, especially in the first year, to encourage confidence and competence within the position.

We are ideally looking for a new graduate vet, but applicants with 1-2 years’ experience are also encouraged to apply. If you are hard-working, energetic and have a “can do” attitude- we would love to talk to you!

Want to love your job and love your location? Come and join us and live the relaxed coastal lifestyle while being in a practice that supports the professional and personal development of their whole team!

So, if we are so wonderful why are we looking for another vet? Well one of our vets left us earlier in the year to go on maternity leave but now won’t be returning to work for family reasons and our wonderful locum who has been helping cover her absence has finished up. We try and avoid our vets being overworked and burnt out so although we don’t need anyone for an immediate start, we are keen to get someone in place by the end of the year when some of our team have their holidays booked!

Why should someone move to our area? Because quite simply it is one of the most stunning coastal locations in Australia, with national parks, surfing reserves and a perfect mix of river, ocean and country lifestyle, all within only 3 hours of the nearest capital city. If you're not a beach person and are searching more for a tree-change, our second clinic is only 15 minutes down the road at the river town Maclean.

Why should you choose our practice over the hundreds of the other clinics crying out for vets? We strive to do the best we can do for our patients and our community. We love continuing education for our team and regularly get experts in their field to come and do in-house training so everyone from our wet-behind-the-ears nursing students to most crusty old vets can be kept up to date with the latest development. This year alone we have had a two day dental wetlab and a three day on-site behaviour workshop on low-stress handling and pre-visit sedation. We also participate in the leadership programs to help with team development and communication skills.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Why would it be a great decision for you if you are a new grad (or even if you aren’t)? As we aren’t short-staffed and have a bunch of experienced vets on our team there is no risk of being dropped in the deep end. We are primarily recruiting for someone so when we have vets on leave (which with 5 vets is about half the year) then we won’t need to get locums in. We have a staged transition plan for our new grads with double length consults initially as well as fortnightly vets meeting where cases, new products and CPD updates are discussed. Our current vets range between 2-20+ years of experience and everything in between.

What’s the catch? You have to participate on our on-call roster. Yes, doing on-call sucks BUT as a regional practice we feel it is important that our patients have access to veterinary care when they need it not just when it’s convenient to us to open the doors. That being said, you will be compensated for weekends as though you worked the full day, not just been on call and the roster is only 1 night per week and 1 weekend a month. Once confident you will also need to be capable of sole charge, since let’s face it as no one really likes doing Saturdays much, we only roster a single vet on at each clinic so the rest of the team can have a well-deserved weekend off!

Still interested? The drop Megan a line either via PM or on 0488 948 782 or email

For more information, see and

Please note – we are happy to consider international vets, as half our existing team are not Aussies however, we will only accept applications from vets have registration in Australia.

Veterinary Internships

We are excited to announce that we have decided to give an early boost to the start date for 3 veterinary internship positions!

Per the below internship description, we are currently accepting applications for 2020.  HOWEVER, we have decided to open up an early opportunity.

This means you will work simultaneously with our 2 current interns who are already halfway through their program.

As they begin to merge into greater independent emergency responsibilities, this early position will allow you to slot in under the guidance of our referral and specialist veterinarians.

To have our current interns present for the first few months as part of your support team, is a significant advantage over the 2020 program.

When applying for the position, please make it clear that you are applying for this boosted 2019 position

Please see below for more details regarding the position.  Applications will be considered from veterinarians who may not have any emergency experience. But as this is a well supported program, we will also consider applications from brand new graduates who have a willingness to jump in and learn.
