TAREE AND FORSTER-TUNCURRY, MID NORTH COAST - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL

Position Available - Taree and Forster-Tuncurry NSW

So, you’re scrolling through the ads and this is just another rural NSW ad - just like all the 60 plus others and you are about to skip to the next ad because you are so totally bored by this whole effort of trying to find your future - so we want to stand out…grab your attention and tell you why we’re special. Why? Because we think we live and work in such an awesome environment with such a great opportunity. After all, you are looking for a new job which might just define the rest of your life!

After many years in the industry we still love coming to work, spending a third of our lives in this environment. After working here for a while, you really get bonded to this small community because you will treat most of their companion animals - so most people will get to know you.

Our drive to work is mostly through forests and small rural towns with its immense beauty and allure. Once at work we greet a super supportive team of nurses and associates who share they life stories and are always happy to crack a joke. The work atmosphere is great - in the back there is a Sonos playlist pumping out tunes while we work on our patients. Our team? Well experienced vets between the 2 sister hospitals - some are surgeons at heart with advanced orthopaedics (TTA’s and bone platings etc) and soft tissue surgery while other are drawn towards internal medicine and ophthalmology; one associate is doing behaviour and all our puppy classes.

Midcoast Animal Hospital - Please click here to see photos! photos

Manning Veterinary Hospital - Please click here to see photos! photos

You won’t twiddle your thumbs here … the case load is extensive and varied because our referral service is a distance away, so most clients will allow you to work up more complicated cases. There will be an experienced mentor around to help you and this will offer you an opportunity to develop your skills and expand into a territory which will be hard to find in our city counterparts. Of course, we offer CE opportunities and leave which we will pay for.

Our nurse team is part of the core - they are extremely competent and are more like vet technicians - they will do all your in-patient fluids, blood taking and lab work, hospitalisations and much much more. So close knit is our team - most of our nurses started here as fresh graduates and never left - our staff turnover is near zero - now that should say a lot about us!

We have all the bells and whistles - we work on RxWorks and if you need something special - we will get it for you.

So, you might ask: what’s in it for me? Well, we are willing to pay you very well - in excess of $100K if you are worth it. This will give you a means to settle - another advantage is lower house prices here in the area compared to our city compatriots.

Need accommodation? We can organise a fully furnished 1-bedroom place for the first 2-3 months and we will pay for it. Transport? Yeah - we can give you a car until you are settled.

Work hours and day to day stuff: you will be required to work between 2 sister hospitals. One is a large brand-new purpose-built facility in Taree. It’s a 2-3 vet set up with all the modern frills to make it amazing to work there … our smaller facility in Tuncurry was built 10 years ago and is not far behind. We have lately upgraded a whole lot of equipment - new x-ray, ultrasound, anaesthetic machines, monitoring and more. You will be required to bounce between both hospitals in your work week. The roster for you? A 4-day work week – we will attempt to make a whole weekday free for you while still maintaining a 38 hours week for you. No large animal work - sorry. Just smallies and pocket pets.

So, we left the cherry on the top for last. If you are envisioning to become a part owner or even sole owner of the Tuncurry clinic - then the opportunity is here. We have another 6-7 years before we will be looking at selling the clinic and there is no reason why we wouldn’t consider a partnership buy in with the goal to have you take over Tuncurry as sole owner.

We are looking for the dream candidate - we want you to stick around. Long term - become part of the team and ‘family’ and forge a future here in the Manning Valley. It’s truly loaded with opportunity. Elena and I arrived here on Australian shores 20 years ago with backpacks and have built these two hospitals up from scratch - we are very proud of them but are now looking into the future and the new chapter. There is an opportunity here for you to become part of this story.

Oh .. but lest we forget. The thorny issue of the bane of all vets - after hours. Sorry - we don’t have a referral emergency clinic around the corner. But we share a 1:5 roster - which is not too bad. Just putting it out there.

So, if you have read through this whole ad and come to this point and if we have succeeded in tackling your imagination … then why not call us. It’ll take you 5 minutes. What’s keeping you?

Please forward CV to: edreyer@manningvet.com.au or contact Elena Dreyer on 0407 233 241 anytime.

COOLAH, CENTRAL WEST - FULL TIME MIXED ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

The Position:

We are searching for a new veterinarian of any experience level to join our 5-6 vet truly mixed practice in Central West NSW. Starting time is highly flexible; from immediately to mid-year and beyond for any CSU final year students interested.

We currently operate 3 practices in Coolah, Coonabarabran & Merriwa and are a genuine MIXED practice with a strong focus on livestock medicine and production whilst also servicing a large horse population and providing a comprehensive small animal service based out of the three hospitals.

The role would provide the perfect introduction for new or recent graduates to gain valuable experience in all aspects of small animal, equine and livestock veterinary medicine. For any more experienced veterinarians out there the role could also be tailored towards any preferences in a particular area if so desired.

For new graduates we will implement a training/transition period whereby you will accompany senior veterinarians in a rotation system covering all aspects of the practice. This program will be flexible and the duration will vary depending on the individual and is designed to ease you into practice and make the transition as smooth as possible whilst also giving you the opportunity to meet clients and gain their trust in the presence of experienced vets.

Clinic hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday and 9am-12pm on Saturday in Coolah only. After hours are provided from Coolah and are shared 1 night per week and 1 in 4-5 weekends with an RDO the Friday after a weekend worked.

About Us:

Coolah Veterinary Clinic has been operating for 50+ years with a particular focus on the livestock and equine industries. In the past 10 years we have expanded and now operate 3 clinics with the addition of the Coonabarabran and Merriwa clinics.

The livestock work predominately consists of beef cattle production with a large numbers of pregnancy testing and bull testing as well as AI, herd health, disease investigations, obstetrics and all the rest that you would expect. We are also experiencing an increase in the amount of sheep work with the current values as they are and have taken on a sheep scanning service.

The area has a strong horse population, mainly involved in campdrafting, polocrosse, rodeo, eventing, pony club and other performance activities. Equine work consists of all the usual day to day ailments along with a growing dentistry and repro caseload.

On the small animal front the three clinics provide all the usual care for the wide range of cases you would expect see in a rural practice – providing plenty of surgical and medical experience. For those cases that require that extra level of diagnosis/care then referral is available in Tamworth.

What we can offer you:

If you are interested in the role please email your CV to admin@coolahvet.com.au or for more information call on John Bowman on 0418 481 073 or Chris Hallett on 0428 771 431

ARMIDALE, NORTHERN TABLELANDS - FULL OR PART TIME MIXED New Graduates welcome

Veterinary Position Available
Armidale NSW
Full-time, Part-time
Experienced or New Graduate

About Us
We’d like to let you in on a well-kept secret. Mixed practice and living in the country gives you a far more interesting workday and makes it so much easier to balance work and play. Your commute is easy, with no tail-light meditation needed (just the occasional cow), and you’ll have time to play sport, enjoy cultural activities, sample the local cuisine and wineries, explore some spectacular country and build life-long connections in the community.

We are a thriving 4 vet mixed practice whose vets have a combined 80yr + experience between us. We all have our own interests but combine well to cover the varied and sometimes unpredictable caseload that makes up our day. Most things can be solved between us, but we are also willing and able to refer or liaise with specialist clinics when needed.

Approximately 70% of the caseload is small animal (inc pocket pets, birds and wildlife), the remainder beef cattle, pleasure and competition horses, sheep, goats, alpacas and the very occasional camel. The equine component could be expanded should there be interest.

Please click here to see photos! photos

About the role
The successful applicant will be, or will become

Our vets currently work a 4-day week, and we share on call duty with another clinic as much as possible. We know that flexibility is very important, and we’ll aim to tailor the position to meet individual needs. Special interests are encouraged and it’s likely we can help you pursue your passions. Armidale is Australia’s highest city. We like to say that because it makes us seem important, but really, it’s because we have a cathedral. Located on the Northern Tablelands of NSW, it is a University town (UNE) and is blessed with great educational choices for your kids, should you have them. The New England Conservatorium of Music and New England Regional Art Museum both punch above their weight for the arts. The local National Parks have jaw dropping views of the gorge country and you can enjoy the spectacular drive along Waterfall Way to the coast, for some seriously good beaches.

Housing is affordable and if it’s land you need for all the animals you own, you’ll have plenty of options for acreage, large and small. There are daily flights to both Sydney and Brisbane.

WARREN AND NYNGAN, NORTH WEST OF DUBBO - FULL TIME MIXED PRACTICE New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Are you on the hunt for a genuine mixed practice clinic without having to head south to be a dairy vet?

Western Rivers Veterinary Group is located an hour west of Dubbo in Central West NSW and we are looking for an experienced or recent graduate full time permanent Vet. We are lucky to service a wide area of friendly, supportive beef and sheep producers and small animal clients from our two clinics in Warren and Nyngan. We have recently purchased the business at the start of July 2020, Andrew worked in the clinic for 5.5 years and Erica was the local field government vet for 4.5 years after coming out of private practice. We are 13’ and 14’ JCU grads so we are really familiar with the challenges of modern vet life and one of the main reasons we bought the clinic was to develop a tight knit team that have each other’s backs and where time is made for personal development and self growth.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We’re not just saying this because it sounds good, we genuinely care about the happiness and fulfilment of our vets. There is no point in working hard just for the sake of it, there needs to be rewards and it’s our priority to ensure everyone feels appreciated and is well remunerated. There are no double standards between partners and associates, everyone pulls their weight equally.

We were new/recent grads not that long ago and we understand the value of mentorship and support.

We are primarily based in Warren (which is where our afterhours service operates from) and we head to Nyngan Monday to Thursday. We also run a couple of satellite clinics throughout the month. The beauty of servicing this area is that everyone really appreciates having a local vet clinic and we are fortunate to have some of the loveliest clients out there! Warren is an agriculturally based town so there are heaps of young people either on properties or who work at businesses that service the Ag Industry (like ours). Between playing/watching footy, going to the pub/balls/races, having a hit of social tennis or throwing a netball around you’ll meet heaps of great people. Dubbo has really grown in the last 5 or so years and has everything you need, it’s just an hour down the road. The airport (post ‘Rona’) services Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne daily and we think it’s important that everyone gets away regularly. Life-work balance is our priority because long term, we want this to be a place you don’t want to leave.

So, what could you expect if you joined the team?! Comprehensive small animal care with a heavy focus on preventative medicine. We see lots of farm accidents - think broken legs/torn tendons in sheep yards, mangled feet in motorbike chains, hay forks through abdomens, you name it, we’ve probably treated it or about to…. We tackle orthopaedics in house but have the option to refer medical and surgical cases to specialists in Tamworth, Sydney and Wagga Wagga. We also love being outside, not just to top up our VitD levels but to work with our producers on the rebuild post ’17, ’18, ’19 drought; and there is a lot happening! A day cruising the roads of the central west could include: bull testing, preg testing, cattle AI, disease investigation, herd/flock management consultation, equine dentals/surgery/AI/reproduction/lameness etc. We’re genuinely a mixed practice and busy getting our clients back up on their feet post drought so if this lights your fire there is plenty to do!

Remuneration wise, we are flexible with what would suit the right person. We would like to create a package (well above award) that suits you. You can be confident that we appreciate and reward our team for high quality and dedicated work. Afterhours roster is 1 in 3 and we are usually around to help out.

Give us a call anytime to have a chat. No doubt you’ll have a few questions and we would love to have a yarn about whether we might be just what you’re looking for!

For all enquires please phone Andrew (Robbo) on 0429 808 814 or Erica on 0433 490 580 or forward your resume to info@wrvg.com.au

SOUTH COAST, BEGA - FULL TIME MIXED NEW GRADUATE new grads welcome

Full-time New Graduate Vet for a true mixed practice on the Sapphire Coast of NSW

Based in Bega on the beautiful far south coast of NSW, our growing Vet Hospital needs a new graduate veterinarian with a genuine interest in true rural mixed practice to join our team of 12 vets.

We are a family owned clinic and dedicated to providing high quality veterinary care to our country community.   We are very conscious of our staff having a meaningful work-life balance and ensuring that your time at work is both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Our current clinic case load is 30% cattle, 50% small animals, 20% equine (with a smattering of sheep and alpacas) and we are looking for someone who is interested in learning and engaging in the full scope of mixed veterinary practice in a supportive environment.  We get to work in a beautiful part of the country and can experience huge diversity in our job, which means there is never a dull or repeatable day.

To make your job as rewarding as possible we operate out of a purpose built modern facility that is equipped with everything you would expect for high quality diagnostic work in both large and small animals (full IDEXX in house lab, digital radiology, dental machine, endoscopy, small and large animal ultrasounds, equine power floats to name a few).  Our property also includes onsite large animal facilities with a stable, round yard and equine porta-stock trailer.

Please click here to see photos! photos

This job is a full-time position with a 38 hour, 4 day week meaning you get a day off to relax and recuperate and enjoy the amazing Sapphire Coast every week.  Remuneration is above award wages (+ super + phone allowance + CE + afterhours remuneration) and we will implement a tailored yearly development plan for CE and further learning that is funded by the clinic.  We are proud of how our team works together and you will be fully supported throughout your clinical work at all times by a group of dedicated and compassionate vets, nurses and support staff.

Given we live in a rural area the job will ultimately require some after-hours work.  The long term rota will be up to one night during the week and a weekend rota of 1:8 however you will not be placed onto the on-call rotation until you are comfortable working independently.  All our vets are well supported by our senior veterinary team and we are available for assistance whether it be in person or over the phone at all times.

We will provide you with all the equipment required for any veterinary work and can provide you with a car for use over the first 6 months, after which we would like you to provide your own car.  You will of course be remunerated via a kilometre based allowance that is in place to cover the expense of your car for work purposes.

As for our location, while we all know Bega is famous for cheese, the entire Sapphire Coast is famous for its pristine beaches and beautiful coastal communities that surround them.  If the joy of living in the country with all the amazing recreational pursuits of holiday towns is something you would love to enjoy all year round, then this is the place for you.  We are also an easy 2.5 hour commute to both Canberra and the snowfields if colder endeavours are more your style.

If you are a new graduate that is keen to contribute to a large rural mixed practice then we would love to hear from you.  For more information or a confidential chat please contact Nicky or Luke on 02 6492 1837 or 0448 037 200.

To apply please send a letter of application along with a CV to nickyp@begacobargovet.com

Full Time Veterinarian Required – 7 vet practice
Small animal (90%) Large animal (10%)

We also have two on-site horse stables, with equine crush. The hospital is well equipped with all the toys you would expect from a top-quality veterinary hospital, including ultrasound, digital radiography, full Idexx lab, IM3 dental machine, dental radiography, vet-tome, orthopaedic equipment, electrosurgical unit, cryosurgery, pulse oximeter, ETCO2, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, endoscopy, tonometry, power float, patient warming systems- what more could you want!

We pride ourselves on trying to deliver gold standard treatment whenever possible, and our hospital is constantly evolving and looking for areas we can improve. With our nearest referral centres 2-3 hours away, there is ample opportunity to work up and follow through on a variety of complex cases.

Our vets work four days per week with one night on call during the week. Weekends are shared equally between our vets and consist of one Saturday shift from 8:00 to 12.30pm, with the remainder of the weekend on call. This roster allows plenty of time to explore this beautiful region and enjoy yourself!

Our hospital encourages a good work-life balance, and the practice owner tries hard to create an environment where burnout is prevented. Our vets are entitled to (and encouraged to take) a one-hour lunch break each day, and we avoid scheduling consultations between 12.15pm and 2:30pm to ensure staff have enough time to have lunch and finish writing up morning consults. Our last consultations for the day are scheduled at 5:30pm, allowing enough time to finish up and get home on time (most of the time!).

We are looking for a keen, team-oriented veterinarian, who wants to work in a professional, and supportive. Our ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years experience, preferably more but capable new graduates are also encouraged to apply. Special interests in surgery would be highly regarded (but are not essential).

Should you be interested, there is the opportunity to buy into the practice in the future.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, well above award, and regularly reviewed. All the usual entitlements to holidays and study leave apply. Continuing education is encouraged, and any special interests will be actively supported.

We are a friendly team, who regularly share baked treats, homegrown produce and spend time together outside of work drinking wine, bushwalking and horseriding.

Griffith is a fast-growing regional centre, surrounded by culture, wineries, and fantastic food. There is an airport which operates flights to and from Sydney and Melbourne each day. For the athletically inclined, there are local teams for nearly every sport, and the Cocoparra National Park is just around the corner!

To apply for this position, or for further information, please contact Dr. Kim Martel, the practice owner/manager, by phone or email. We are also happy to put you in touch with any of the associate veterinarians (past and present!), if you’d like to hear of their experiences at this practice.
