We are looking for someone to become a part of our team, with a focus on high quality veterinary medicine tailored to each individual patient, and building great relationships with clients. Our clinic is well equipped and well managed to make our days run smooth. Being rural, we see a huge variety of cases, both medical and surgical. Everyday brings something different.

We have 1 vet and 4 nurses – our nurses are highly trained and utilised well to free up our vet time. Yes, we are a small clinic, but this means you will not be just another vet amongst a large team. You will take charge of your cases and follow them through – continuity is so important, you will get to know and care for your clients, you will be ‘on surgery’ and ‘on consult’ everyday, you will have tons of exposure and tons of opportunity everyday.

At the moment, we are 95% small animal and exotics, and 5% large animal – equine, hobby farm mostly. There is huge potential to expand the large animal base, just need that second vet!

For new or recent graduates, this is an ideal first job! We do a huge amount of routine desexing, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery and dentistry. You will learn so much and so quickly. Please click here to see photos! photos

For experienced vets, this job will allow you freedom and flexibility, to follow or renew your passion in veterinary medicine. A love of equine medicine will be viewed favourably. We are professional, but we are also easy going – we get in and get it done on the busy days, and make the most to chill out and catch up on the quiet days.

Salary will start at $70,000 for new grads - $100,000 for experienced, based on 38hr week. Working hours are flexible. There will be 1 weekend on-call per month – usually fairly quiet. Accommodation will be provided for the first 3 months to allow easier transition to our great town Narrabri. 4 weeks annual leave, 1 week CPD leave and $2000 CPD allowance per year. Bonus $10,000 offered after 2 years. Partnership potential for right candidate.

KEMPSEY, MID NORTH COAST - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcome

One (1)  VETERINARIAN REQUIRED: our practice is expanding from 7-8 vets so we require an additional vet to join our existing team.

We are open to NEW  GRADUATES (Including Wagga Graduates who finish in August 2020), RECENT GRADUATES or EXPERIENCED VETS who wish to practice with companion animals, livestock and equine species. Our case mix is approximately 60% small animal; 20% equine and 20% livestock.

We are looking for a positive individual who is capable of working efficiently and conscientiously within a team environment.

Our team is very supportive and enjoy learning from each other. We generally work together to manage our cases as a veterinary team rather than 8 individuals working alone on individual cases. With a large practice, communication amongst team members and with clients is a must, we want “people-people” as we strive to excel in client interactions and client communication.

We have a tight family feel to our clinic and we want that to stay as we all love coming to work, our clients often comment about how much fun it always sounds like we are having. We firmly believe skills can be taught, but personality can’t and we employ staff based on personalities and suitability to our workplace rather than on skills or marks, the successful applicants will immediately fit in and feel at home in our happy workplace.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We are offering above award salary complete with a fully equipped maintained and fuelled vehicle. We work a four day week with one night per week and one in four weekends on call. Four weeks annual leave plus annual paid conference leave is included in the package, we also pay standard conference fees and make financial allowances towards travel and accommodation.

Work-life balance is important to all of us to allow us to make the most of the wonderful place we live. There are never ending after work opportunities in this valley for the outdoor inclined from surfing our premier beaches, windsurfing/kitesurfing, waterskiing, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, hiking, horse riding the list goes on.

Success in a small town requires people who want to be involved in the community; all the vets who love it here (and those that have stayed for good) are actively involved in either cricket, surf club, netball, soccer, rugby, mountain biking, surfing, etc, outside of work and that is what we are looking for in new staff.

About the practice:

The mixed practice consists of a main clinic in Kempsey and a growing recently upgraded and extended branch clinic at South West Rocks. The clinics are well equipped with well-maintained equipment which we are always keen to upgrade and update.

We have In-house complete Idexx lab equipment; 2x IM3 dental suites; tonopen vet tonometry; DR digital x-ray equipment, Mylab Alpha ultrasound, internal and external fixation equipment, electrocautery and suction unit.

The second arm of the practice is the Mid North Coast Equine Reproductive Centre which caters to all equine reproductive needs from chilled and frozen AI to embryo transfer and a large recipient herd. It offers stallion standing, Semen collection for AI, chilled shipping and freezing.

MACLEAN/YAMBA, NORTHERN RIVERS - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

So, what matters most to you? If it is connection, community and nature then read on...

PERMANENT FULL- or PART-TIME SMALL ANIMAL VET - YAMBA (North Coast NSW)

This pandemic has made clear to us is that what matters most to our team is looking after each other and the broader community in a safe fashion while caring for our pets who are invaluable social contact in these times of self-isolation and social distancing. If you have a passion for supporting pets and their people as well as working in a tight-knit autonomous team then we might be right for you. Our area is surrounded by miles of open beach, winding rivers and peaceful rainforest so you can connect with nature and get away from all the dramas of the world (even in a lock down). The local community has all the essential facilities such as a hospital, high schools and a cinema (which will hopefully again) but we are only 2.5hr south of the Gold Coast if you need the big smoke.

Our practice consists of two branches that are fully self-contained. You will be assigned to just one clinic but after-hours is shared and the vets meet fortnightly in order to discuss cases and to constantly refine our standards of care. We love continuing education for our team and regularly get experts in their field to come and do in-house training. This year we have already had an internal medicine specialist teach the team ultrasonography. We also utilised training on all the soft skills such as communication that often get missed out of university curriculum. Wellbeing is important to us and even before coronavirus reared its head we had provided mindfulness training to our team to help everyone deal with the stresses vet life brings and will continue to have sessions throughout the trying months ahead.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The only drawback is you will need to participate on our on-call roster. Part of what makes us so community minded is that we feel it is important that our patients have access to veterinary care when they need it not just when it’s convenient to us to open the doors. That being said, you will be compensated for weekends as though you worked the full day, not just been on call and the roster is only 1 night per week and 1 weekend a month. You will also need to be capable of sole charge, since let’s face it as no one really likes doing Saturdays much, we only roster a single vet on at each clinic so the rest of the team can have a well-deserved weekend off! If you aren’t up to it straight away, that’s ok, we’ll wait until you are confident.

We are not expecting to find the new member of our team while the whole world is in turmoil, but when travel restrictions have lifted and the immediate danger passes we will need another vet to join our 4.5 vet team to help spread the load. We are happy to consider international vets, however we will only accept applications from vets who are currently in the country with Australian registration for obvious reasons.

So, if this strikes a chord, then drop Megan a line either via email aurora.vet.ross@gmail.com or on 0488 948 782.

COOLAH, CENTRAL WEST - FULL TIME MIXED ANIMAL New Graduates welcomeNew Position

The Position:

We are searching for a new veterinarian of any experience level to join our 5-6 vet truly mixed practice in Central West NSW. Starting time is highly flexible; from immediately to mid-year and beyond for any CSU final year students interested.

We currently operate 3 practices in Coolah, Coonabarabran & Merriwa and are a genuine MIXED practice with a strong focus on livestock medicine and production whilst also servicing a large horse population and providing a comprehensive small animal service based out of the three hospitals.

The role would provide the perfect introduction for new or recent graduates to gain valuable experience in all aspects of small animal, equine and livestock veterinary medicine. For any more experienced veterinarians out there the role could also be tailored towards any preferences in a particular area if so desired.

For new graduates we will implement a training/transition period whereby you will accompany senior veterinarians in a rotation system covering all aspects of the practice. This program will be flexible and the duration will vary depending on the individual and is designed to ease you into practice and make the transition as smooth as possible whilst also giving you the opportunity to meet clients and gain their trust in the presence of experienced vets.

Clinic hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Friday and 9am-12pm on Saturday in Coolah only. After hours are provided from Coolah and are shared 1 night per week and 1 in 4-5 weekends with an RDO the Friday after a weekend worked.

About Us:

Coolah Veterinary Clinic has been operating for 50+ years with a particular focus on the livestock and equine industries. In the past 10 years we have expanded and now operate 3 clinics with the addition of the Coonabarabran and Merriwa clinics.

The livestock work predominately consists of beef cattle production with a large numbers of pregnancy testing and bull testing as well as AI, herd health, disease investigations, obstetrics and all the rest that you would expect. We are also experiencing an increase in the amount of sheep work with the current values as they are and have taken on a sheep scanning service.

The area has a strong horse population, mainly involved in campdrafting, polocrosse, rodeo, eventing, pony club and other performance activities. Equine work consists of all the usual day to day ailments along with a growing dentistry and repro caseload.

On the small animal front the three clinics provide all the usual care for the wide range of cases you would expect see in a rural practice – providing plenty of surgical and medical experience. For those cases that require that extra level of diagnosis/care then referral is available in Tamworth.

What we can offer you:

If you are interested in the role please email your CV to admin@coolahvet.com.au or for more information call on John Bowman on 0418 481 073 or Chris Hallett on 0428 771 431

SOUTH COAST, BEGA - FULL TIME MIXED NEW GRADUATE new grads welcomeNew Position

Full-time New Graduate Vet for a true mixed practice on the Sapphire Coast of NSW

Based in Bega on the beautiful far south coast of NSW, our growing Vet Hospital needs a new graduate veterinarian with a genuine interest in true rural mixed practice to join our team of 12 vets.

We are a family owned clinic and dedicated to providing high quality veterinary care to our country community.   We are very conscious of our staff having a meaningful work-life balance and ensuring that your time at work is both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Our current clinic case load is 30% cattle, 50% small animals, 20% equine (with a smattering of sheep and alpacas) and we are looking for someone who is interested in learning and engaging in the full scope of mixed veterinary practice in a supportive environment.  We get to work in a beautiful part of the country and can experience huge diversity in our job, which means there is never a dull or repeatable day.

To make your job as rewarding as possible we operate out of a purpose built modern facility that is equipped with everything you would expect for high quality diagnostic work in both large and small animals (full IDEXX in house lab, digital radiology, dental machine, endoscopy, small and large animal ultrasounds, equine power floats to name a few).  Our property also includes onsite large animal facilities with a stable, round yard and equine porta-stock trailer.

Please click here to see photos! photos

This job is a full-time position with a 38 hour, 4 day week meaning you get a day off to relax and recuperate and enjoy the amazing Sapphire Coast every week.  Remuneration is above award wages (+ super + phone allowance + CE + afterhours remuneration) and we will implement a tailored yearly development plan for CE and further learning that is funded by the clinic.  We are proud of how our team works together and you will be fully supported throughout your clinical work at all times by a group of dedicated and compassionate vets, nurses and support staff.

Given we live in a rural area the job will ultimately require some after-hours work.  The long term rota will be up to one night during the week and a weekend rota of 1:8 however you will not be placed onto the on-call rotation until you are comfortable working independently.  All our vets are well supported by our senior veterinary team and we are available for assistance whether it be in person or over the phone at all times.

We will provide you with all the equipment required for any veterinary work and can provide you with a car for use over the first 6 months, after which we would like you to provide your own car.  You will of course be remunerated via a kilometre based allowance that is in place to cover the expense of your car for work purposes.

As for our location, while we all know Bega is famous for cheese, the entire Sapphire Coast is famous for its pristine beaches and beautiful coastal communities that surround them.  If the joy of living in the country with all the amazing recreational pursuits of holiday towns is something you would love to enjoy all year round, then this is the place for you.  We are also an easy 2.5 hour commute to both Canberra and the snowfields if colder endeavours are more your style.

If you are a new graduate that is keen to contribute to a large rural mixed practice then we would love to hear from you.  For more information or a confidential chat please contact Nicky or Luke on 02 6492 1837 or 0448 037 200.

Full Time Veterinarian Required – 7 vet practice
Small animal (90%) Large animal (10%)

We also have two on-site horse stables, with equine crush. The hospital is well equipped with all the toys you would expect from a top-quality veterinary hospital, including ultrasound, digital radiography, full Idexx lab, IM3 dental machine, dental radiography, vet-tome, orthopaedic equipment, electrosurgical unit, cryosurgery, pulse oximeter, ETCO2, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, endoscopy, tonometry, power float, patient warming systems- what more could you want!

We pride ourselves on trying to deliver gold standard treatment whenever possible, and our hospital is constantly evolving and looking for areas we can improve. With our nearest referral centres 2-3 hours away, there is ample opportunity to work up and follow through on a variety of complex cases.

Our vets work four days per week with one night on call during the week. Weekends are shared equally between our vets and consist of one Saturday shift from 8:00 to 12.30pm, with the remainder of the weekend on call. This roster allows plenty of time to explore this beautiful region and enjoy yourself!

Our hospital encourages a good work-life balance, and the practice owner tries hard to create an environment where burnout is prevented. Our vets are entitled to (and encouraged to take) a one-hour lunch break each day, and we avoid scheduling consultations between 12.15pm and 2:30pm to ensure staff have enough time to have lunch and finish writing up morning consults. Our last consultations for the day are scheduled at 5:30pm, allowing enough time to finish up and get home on time (most of the time!).

We are looking for a keen, team-oriented veterinarian, who wants to work in a professional, and supportive. Our ideal candidate would have a minimum of 2 years experience, preferably more but capable new graduates are also encouraged to apply. Special interests in surgery would be highly regarded (but are not essential).

Should you be interested, there is the opportunity to buy into the practice in the future.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, well above award, and regularly reviewed. All the usual entitlements to holidays and study leave apply. Continuing education is encouraged, and any special interests will be actively supported.

We are a friendly team, who regularly share baked treats, homegrown produce and spend time together outside of work drinking wine, bushwalking and horseriding.

Griffith is a fast-growing regional centre, surrounded by culture, wineries, and fantastic food. There is an airport which operates flights to and from Sydney and Melbourne each day. For the athletically inclined, there are local teams for nearly every sport, and the Cocoparra National Park is just around the corner!

To apply for this position, or for further information, please contact Dr. Kim Martel, the practice owner/manager, by phone or email. We are also happy to put you in touch with any of the associate veterinarians (past and present!), if you’d like to hear of their experiences at this practice.

Looking for our next Vet Extraordinaire. Do you LOVE working in the Veterinary Industry? Apply now, we only want to hear from people who love what they do!

Is the grass greener?? Well we think Pink grass is the best!

The Team
Family run business lead by Dr Simon Arnesen and Dr Geoff Wilson (crazy adventurer-we dare you to google him, if you don’t know him already!) It is currently one vet on per day – if the surgical case warrants a second vet we arrange as required; we have awesome Nurses and Receptionists even down to our cool student nurses; it is an honour to work alongside these legends! We have our VetLove Ballina clinic close by to bounce cases and knowledge around with and use as extra support for holidays and days off.

What we can do for you
We know you work hard, so we also want to give you the time off to spend with family/friends/pets/hobbies whatever interests you!

You only want to be in a clinic with great values and ethics with the patient’s best interest at heart; the good old saying “treat every pet as if they were your own” is true within VetLove.

Days are never boring! Practical jokes, dry sense of humour, coffee (van visits every morning), chocolate and great team environment makes every day a pleasure, sure we get stressed and have our off days (who doesn’t) but as a rule we club together and smash the day out as a team.

We set aside money to help you with your skills and education, you want to learn more? We can assist you, we can even source courses for you. And, we have all the toys you would expect for a large veterinary clinic, Idexx In house pathology, Digital Radiology, ultrasound.

You want ownership/bonuses/feedback and recognition – you got it! We make the rules, let us know what you are after in your career progression. You will be surprised what we can pull off! Last year two of our team members within the VetLove group won the opportunity to go to Bali/Borneo for a week to spend time at the Ecolodges, where they got to experience time with Orangutans in their natural environment, how’s that for outside the box!!

Support, collaboration and team spirit is not only with the individual clinic but across the VetLove team. Known for our culture, the VetLove teams are also a great group to be around, friendly competition across the group makes for some interesting conversations.

You have the autonomy to make decisions and we trust your judgement. Our expectation is that you do the right thing for our clients, our patients, our team and your business.

We might not have all the processes in place, but we certainly have the culture, we love what we do and enjoy getting out of bed each day to go to work! Feel free to call any of our clinics and ask them what it’s like to work for VetLove, you won’t be disappointed.

What’s next?
Don’t ignore this opportunity, if you have a few years of Vetting in a general practice then apply now. Are you happy in your current role? You could be happier! CENTRAL COAST, ALISON - MIXED - EXPERIENCED OR NEW GRAD New Graduates welcomeNew Position

For your Whole four-legged family!

The best thing about being a Veterinarian is the variety of our work. And we have that in spades. Lots of medicine cases to work up, plenty of surgery, a good load of emergency cases, and enough equine & livestock cases to keep life interesting.

For all that, we have a good roster with ample time off. No-one works more than 4 days in a row, and we take turns at having 4-day weekends as a regular part of the roster. Weekends and nights on call are shared equally among what will be the 6 of us, and our starting salary range will be from $70,000 to $100,000 (plus super etc.) depending on experience.

Geographically, we're roughly an hour from Sydney or Newcastle for any big events, and minutes away from some of the best beaches & National Parks in the country. Several of the staff ride their horses on the local trails, others spend their spare time in the surf.

Whatever your hobbies are you can fit them in on the Central Coast.

About us:

We practice a high standard of medicine & surgery. We regularly perform Caesarians, Splenectomies, TPLOs & BOAS. We manage our diabetic & hyperA cases inhouse. When we do need a specialist surgeon, we are fortunate enough to have one come to us (hip replacements- that kind of next level surgery). And we also have a referral hospital 10 minutes away for when that is needed. We run an emergency practice with 24-hour nursing care (which takes all the stress out of after hours- you're not going to be coaching a client to hold a vein for you!)

Please click here to see photos! photos

We're in our  10th year and have a fantastic clientele who are a pleasure to work for  and  99% of the time let us do our absolute best for their pet, and are grateful for our efforts (amazing the power of thanks, and chocolate!)

We enjoy our workplace, with usually a generous level of laughter, and we are regulars at the local tavern for Thursday night Trivia!

We have digital radiography, a lovely new ultrasound, gastroscope, bronchoscope, two dedicated surgeries, dedicated imaging suite, large animal covered area with crush & stables, and a very solid policy of only treating Hendra vaccinated horses.

About you:

What's important for us is that you're a team player.  We have a great team environment and are looking for a couple of extra players to share the workload.

You need to be passionate about what you do- still be in touch with your inner 8-year-old that wanted this job!

You need to love animals, obviously, but we also really like our clients- we need you to be a people person too!

If you're a gun surgeon or a medicine wizard, great. If you're a good all-rounder, that's great. If you're a new grad looking to do your best, that's great too.

What's important to us first, is who you are. We can help bring all the other things along as we go.

If this sounds like you, please email me directly keith@coastandvalleysvet.com.au

BOMADERRY, SHOALHAVEN - FULL TIME MIXED/SMALL ANIMAL ONLY New Graduates welcome

BOMADERRY VETERINARY HOSPITAL
SOUTH COAST - MIXED PRACTICE

Bomaderry Veterinary Hospital has a vacancy for a full-time veterinarian. We are a 5 x Fulltime Vet practice, with 5 x part timers helping us.

Bomaderry is located on the sunny South Coast of NSW, on the northern side of the Shoalhaven River, about 2 hours south of Sydney, 20 minutes from pristine Jervis Bay and the surf beaches of Culburra and Shoalhaven Heads. Sounds idyllic doesn't it!

Our practice is currently a mixed practice seeing approximately 70% small animals and 30% large animals.  We also have 2x single vet branch clinics at a two of the seaside villages that are close to town.  The Shoalhaven area is undergoing rapid growth and the practice is also growing to meet these demands.

We see and treat a truly mixed variety of animals, and no two days are the same. The practice has a long and trusted history of providing services to the local dairy industry, including a large 2000 x cow herd. We also service a large Alpaca Studfarm. We provide services to a local Zoo and the local native animal groups.

We have all of the diagnostic equipment you could want - Fuji D.R. X-ray, full in-house IDEXX and suite, Video Endoscopy, GE Logic P5 small animal ultra-sound, and a Reproscan ultrasound for cattle and horse pregnancy testing, and iM3 Dental equipment.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We are able to provide most medical and surgical services. We offer referral and have good relationships with Sydney Specialists, but find that in many cases our clients want us to do the work. This means that we get to practice high level medicine, including for example Chemotherapy.

The same is true of surgical cases where we are able to perform most Orthopaedic procedures utilizing MMP cruciate repair kit, full SOP plating kits, Ridgestop Patella repair kit etc.

Above award wages are paid for a 38-hour working week.

Continuing Education is strongly encouraged, as it improves morale and enhances the service and services we can provide.

Afterhours is shared equally during the week, and weekends are shared with a neighbouring practice.

Nursing staff are all Cert IV graduates and are long term employees.

We need someone with an interest in true mixed practice work, preferably with some experience, however new/recent graduates are encouraged to apply. The position may also suit someone who wants to do only small animal work in a truly beautiful rural area.

We are looking for someone with a genuine desire for a long-term commitment to the practice, and a willingness to take on some practice responsibilities.
