SOUTHERN TABLELANDS VETERINARY HOSPITAL - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL

Southern Tablelands Veterinary Hospital is a growing well-established business in a convenient city 45mins from Canberra and 2 hours from Sydney Airport and the beautiful South Coast beaches and 3.5 hours to the Snowy Mountains. A year ago an additional partner came on board to meet patient demand and continue to offer an experienced caring service in a beautiful 5-year-old purpose-built facility. We currently have 3 full time senior small animal veterinarians (all partners) and a part-time mid-career veterinarian. We will soon welcome a new graduate in early 2020. We are supported by 2 receptionists and 4 veterinary nurses all with a similar dedication to quality service and care.

As the oldest established veterinary clinic in Goulburn we have an excellent reputation with local clients but also wish to service the new owners and pets entering the region. If you are interested, or want to find out more about the job or living in Goulburn, please give Amanda a call on 02 4821 1966 or email southerntablelandsvets@gmail.com

Make sure to check out our website and Facebook and recent newspaper articles https://www.goulburnpost.com.au/story/6513627/local-vet-hospital-turns-5/ to see what we’re about.

Declared Australia’s first inland city in 1863, Goulburn is rich in history and has some beautiful old monuments and homes as well as vibrant new suburbs of affordable and high-quality housing. To match this the regional High schools (public and private) offer excellent education outcomes with the ability for weekly boarding in Canberra or Sydney for a private school education or at James Ruse in Campbelltown.

As the population has grown so has the entertainment food and arts scene and being very close to a rural community there is a laid back country outdoor lifestyle to allow for a “slow change”. It’s a growing city with a good regional hospital with expansion development being completed in 2020, easy commutes around the city and to Canberra and Sydney.

KEMPSEY, MID NORTH COAST - FULL TIME MIXED New Graduates welcome

One (1)  VETERINARIAN REQUIRED: our practice is expanding from 7-8 vets so we require an additional vet to join our existing team.

We are open to NEW  GRADUATES (Including Wagga Graduates who finish in August 2020), RECENT GRADUATES or EXPERIENCED VETS who wish to practice with companion animals, livestock and equine species. Our case mix is approximately 60% small animal; 20% equine and 20% livestock.

We are looking for a positive individual who is capable of working efficiently and conscientiously within a team environment.

Our team is very supportive and enjoy learning from each other. We generally work together to manage our cases as a veterinary team rather than 8 individuals working alone on individual cases. With a large practice, communication amongst team members and with clients is a must, we want “people-people” as we strive to excel in client interactions and client communication.

We have a tight family feel to our clinic and we want that to stay as we all love coming to work, our clients often comment about how much fun it always sounds like we are having. We firmly believe skills can be taught, but personality can’t and we employ staff based on personalities and suitability to our workplace rather than on skills or marks, the successful applicants will immediately fit in and feel at home in our happy workplace.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We are offering above award salary complete with a fully equipped maintained and fuelled vehicle. We work a four day week with one night per week and one in four weekends on call. Four weeks annual leave plus annual paid conference leave is included in the package, we also pay standard conference fees and make financial allowances towards travel and accommodation.

Work-life balance is important to all of us to allow us to make the most of the wonderful place we live. There are never ending after work opportunities in this valley for the outdoor inclined from surfing our premier beaches, windsurfing/kitesurfing, waterskiing, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, hiking, horse riding the list goes on.

Success in a small town requires people who want to be involved in the community; all the vets who love it here (and those that have stayed for good) are actively involved in either cricket, surf club, netball, soccer, rugby, mountain biking, surfing, etc, outside of work and that is what we are looking for in new staff.

About the practice:

The mixed practice consists of a main clinic in Kempsey and a growing recently upgraded and extended branch clinic at South West Rocks. The clinics are well equipped with well-maintained equipment which we are always keen to upgrade and update.

We have In-house complete Idexx lab equipment; 2x IM3 dental suites; tonopen vet tonometry; DR digital x-ray equipment, Mylab Alpha ultrasound, internal and external fixation equipment, electrocautery and suction unit.

The second arm of the practice is the Mid North Coast Equine Reproductive Centre which caters to all equine reproductive needs from chilled and frozen AI to embryo transfer and a large recipient herd. It offers stallion standing, Semen collection for AI, chilled shipping and freezing.

MACLEAN/YAMBA, NORTHERN RIVERS - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

So, what matters most to you? If it is connection, community and nature then read on...

PERMANENT FULL- or PART-TIME SMALL ANIMAL VET - YAMBA (North Coast NSW)

This pandemic has made clear to us is that what matters most to our team is looking after each other and the broader community in a safe fashion while caring for our pets who are invaluable social contact in these times of self-isolation and social distancing. If you have a passion for supporting pets and their people as well as working in a tight-knit autonomous team then we might be right for you. Our area is surrounded by miles of open beach, winding rivers and peaceful rainforest so you can connect with nature and get away from all the dramas of the world (even in a lock down). The local community has all the essential facilities such as a hospital, high schools and a cinema (which will hopefully again) but we are only 2.5hr south of the Gold Coast if you need the big smoke.

Our practice consists of two branches that are fully self-contained. You will be assigned to just one clinic but after-hours is shared and the vets meet fortnightly in order to discuss cases and to constantly refine our standards of care. We love continuing education for our team and regularly get experts in their field to come and do in-house training. This year we have already had an internal medicine specialist teach the team ultrasonography. We also utilised training on all the soft skills such as communication that often get missed out of university curriculum. Wellbeing is important to us and even before coronavirus reared its head we had provided mindfulness training to our team to help everyone deal with the stresses vet life brings and will continue to have sessions throughout the trying months ahead.

Please click here to see photos! photos

The only drawback is you will need to participate on our on-call roster. Part of what makes us so community minded is that we feel it is important that our patients have access to veterinary care when they need it not just when it’s convenient to us to open the doors. That being said, you will be compensated for weekends as though you worked the full day, not just been on call and the roster is only 1 night per week and 1 weekend a month. You will also need to be capable of sole charge, since let’s face it as no one really likes doing Saturdays much, we only roster a single vet on at each clinic so the rest of the team can have a well-deserved weekend off! If you aren’t up to it straight away, that’s ok, we’ll wait until you are confident.

We are not expecting to find the new member of our team while the whole world is in turmoil, but when travel restrictions have lifted and the immediate danger passes we will need another vet to join our 4.5 vet team to help spread the load. We are happy to consider international vets, however we will only accept applications from vets who are currently in the country with Australian registration for obvious reasons.

So, if this strikes a chord, then drop Megan a line either via email aurora.vet.ross@gmail.com or on 0488948782

NORTH GOULBURN, SOUTHERN TABLELANDS - FULL OR PART TIME SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Do you want your patients and clients to feel this way after they see you?

“When I now take Gracie to see the vet she pulls on the lead to get inside.“

“Thank you for the time you took with us. We felt listened to, and loved that you worked hard to gain the trust of Bella, and to build a relationship - as opposed to getting us in and out quickly.“

“It’s not every day you find a vet willing to get on the floor with a petrified patient! 10 million thumbs up!“

“Best experience at a vet since moving to Goulburn!”

Luckily, we have a position for an enthusiastic, optimistic, and caring vet to join our team!

Goulburn Vet Clinic is a small animal clinic in regional NSW. A year ago we had 1 vet and 1 nurse, and now our team includes 1 Vet, 3 Nurses, and 2 trainees. Basically, I’m feeling outnumbered!

Most things about the job are negotiable: full time/part time, conference leave, after hours, recent grad/experienced vet, every third Thursday off for full-contact-underwater-basket-weaving practice – you just let us know! What isn’t negotiable is that you have a strong growth mindset.

If you are the type of vet who is always pushing their skills, looks forward to working with your clients, and enjoys lifting up their nursing team then you are who we are looking for.

Now, for lists…

MACKSVILLE, MID NORTH COAST - FULL TIME MIXED ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Full time Veterinarian Position

A great opportunity awaits on the Mid North Coast.  One of our vets is planning to spread their wings and travel overseas.  This leaves an opening in this unique region with its ideal climate, beautiful beaches and hinterland.

We are a mixed practice with well-established clinics in Macksville, Nambucca Heads and Urunga.  Our Urunga clinic was upgraded to a great purpose-built facility 2 years ago and plans are underway to build a new clinic in Macksville.  Our main goal is to provide excellent veterinary care whilst ensuring we have time to enjoy the pursuits that come with life in this region and further afield.  To that end we are well equipped, encourage professional development and have a very favourable roster.

Our clinics are located between the regional coastal centres of Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour.  Situated in one of Australia’s most desired holiday destinations offering unspoiled beaches, waterways, hinterland forests with pristine rivers, national parks along with proximity to facilities such as hospitals, schools, universities, shopping centres and airports.

Our Facilities and Staff

Our clinics are equipped with state of the art equipment, including 3 Canon/E-film DR X-ray systems, 3 My-lab ultrasound machines including one with a cardiac probe/license, a comprehensive range of orthopedic gear for TPLO cruciate repairs, platings, external fixtures and more, 3 in-house pathology machines, a Tonometer, 2 mare rectal ultrasounds, a portable horse crush/trailer, a full kit of equine dentistry tools and power float, and plenty more.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Our staff includes 7 full time and 3 part time veterinarians, 12 well trained nursing staff and a practice manager.  A significant proportion of our staff have been with us for many years which reflects staff contentment with the friendly and supportive work environment we provide.  Work life balance is extremely important to us, so we offer our staff family friendly work conditions where possible.

What We Have to Offer

In addition to good facilities and a dedicated team we can offer you the following.

What We are Looking For

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated veterinarian who has good communication skills, is dedicated to providing the best quality of care and has a can-do attitude.  Importantly, the applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team who is committed to providing excellence in both veterinary care and client service.

The successful applicant would be based in the Macksville with some days in our Urunga clinic.  Macksville has a wide range of cases from small animal to horses and cattle and more, while Urunga is more small animal with a growing horse and cattle case load.  A generous, above award remuneration package is on offer including 5 weeks annual leave and 1-week study leave.

The position is ideally suited to a veterinarian with several years’ experience, however confident, capable and enthusiastic recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

This really is a fantastic area and the veterinary practice is continually growing and expanding its services. If variety is the spice of life, then this practice has it covered in terms of case load and lifestyle. On any given day you might start with a morning surf or bike ride before being part of a mix of anything from consults to a calving, ultrasound to orthopaedic surgeries or horse dentals to preg testing and then wind down with a beer by the river or a game of touch footy.
