The UVTHS is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Veterinary Nurse to provide clinical cases in our Intensive Care Unit, working a rotating shift roster.
Reporting to the Hospital Director, your duties will include: assisting with medical and surgical cases; cleaning and maintaining veterinary medical equipment and instruments; and the maintenance of the surgery suite and consulting area. You will also care for hospitalised animals including critical care patients; sterilise instruments and equipment; undertake reception duties; and fulfill a range of veterinary nursing duties as directed by senior veterinary staff.
To succeed in this position, you will need a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent nursing experience within a small animal veterinary hospital. The experience and confidence to cope with emergency and critical cases, good communication skills and knowledge of veterinary surgery procedures are also a must.
In this appointment you will participate in a rotating roster, including day, evening and overnight shifts, Monday to Sunday, with applicable shift loadings. The successful applicant will work 38 hours per week, with some flexibility.
The position is fixed term for one year, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
