The successful candidate will regularly have the opportunity to utilise their nursing skills including taking bloods and placing IV catheters, process in house blood pathology, assist with chemotherapy drug administration, monitoring anaesthetics, and utilise other advanced skills such as radiography, radioactive iodine therapy nursing and the ability to scrub in and assist with surgeries.

The clinic features three separate positive pressure surgical theatres, sterile supply area, separate treatment areas, separate dog, cat and isolation wards and two dedicated imaging suites. The practice is very well equipped with ultrasound, endoscopy, anaesthetic scavenge system, x-ray machine and automatic processor, ventilators, and advanced anaesthetic monitoring equipment including a multi-parameter monitor with pulse oximetry, ECG, capnography, and blood pressure. The practice also has fluid pumps, petMAP and Doppler blood pressure monitors, iSTAT and Idexx in house laboratory equipment amongst other specialised equipment.

The professional veterinary team at the practice includes highly skilled vets and nurses, and dedicated reception and kennel staff. Many of the staff are long term employees and a number of the nurses have developed specialised interests. Further education via the Diploma in Veterinary Nursing is highly encouraged, and nursing staff have access to a generous continuing education allowance and conference leave.

AFTER HOURS: The successful candidate will occasionally be rostered on call over weekends (approx 1 in 7), for which they will be paid extra. After hours emergency shifts are also available if the applicant desires, but are not required.
