The Vet Lounge, Upper Coomera (posted 7th September)

the_vet_lounge_logo2021.jpg

Experienced Nurse Required

The Veterinary Industry is fabulous to work in, but it really needs to change!

As you know, Vets and Nurses are leaving in droves (due to various reasons) and in order to have an industry tomorrow, we recognise that we need to make changes today! One of the reasons for the high dropout rates is poor working conditions and toxic work environments, largely due to poor leadership. This needs to change, and it changes with us, the employers.

Who am I?

I’m a Veterinary Nurse and Practice Manager with over 25 years’ experience in the industry. Yes, nurses can own and run very successful veterinary practices! I choose my team well and we have respect for each other’s individual roles.

Most of my working career has been in developing operational systems and creating positive work cultures in veterinary clinics. For me to achieve this, not only for myself but for my team, I have to choose new staff well. Our workplaces are built on positivity – so if you thrive on toxicity, bitching and moaning, you won’t understand how our team culture works. We are work mates and enjoy spending time with each other. Our vets are brilliant and appreciate the nurses!

In our workspaces there are no problems, only opportunities to improve, so if you have this mindset, I want you on the team!

What we’re about…

We’re all about training and not blaming.

Fault lies in the systems and not the people. I know my team come to work every day to do a good job, so if a mistake is made, we look at how we can improve the system. The system is faulty, not the people. The team fixes the systems.

What we’ll give you

What skills we need you to have:

We have 2 positions available.

Both positions are at our Upper Coomera practice
2 x Part-time positions with one of the positions becoming full time in November when our current nurse leaves to have a baby.

If you’d like to work in a practice which truly wants to make improvements to our industry – please join our team! We need likeminded people to achieve our goals!

Park Ridge Animal Hospital, Logan (posted 18th August)

Park Ridge Animal Hospital

Veterinary Nurse Position - Part Time to Full Time

When asked “Why work at Park Ridge Animal Hospital” a recently employed vet nurse replied:

“I choose to work at PRAH because I am afforded the time to nurse my patients compassionately every day. The hospital is staffed adequately, and staff absences are covered appropriately.

I feel valued in a team with a clear focus on staff wellness made evident everyday with our 3 breaks and 1 in 6 weekends allowing me to maintain work life balance. The whole team is approachable and friendly and always available to help which means my days are less stressful and more enjoyable! There are even kennel hands and professional cleaners to help maintain the hospital.

All this means I can focus on my patient’s wellbeing and comfort. After all, this is why I became a vet nurse.”

I think this says a lot about what we strive to achieve. The advert is below with the details. Please read it and share it with your Facebook friends. Most importantly, if interested please apply. We don’t need fancy resumes (but some information is required) and are happy to have a confidential no obligation meeting. What is to lose?

An opportunity has become available for a qualified and experienced veterinary nurse to join our dynamic team of over 30 talented and enthusiastic veterinarians, nurses and receptionists.

Park Ridge Animal Hospital and our sister clinic, at nearby Browns Plains, have a passionate nursing team with a mix of vibrant new graduates and highly experienced, extensively trained, supportive senior nurses. The common goal amongst our fantastic team of nurses is providing exceptional standards of care to all of our small animal patients applying our hospital motto “what’s best for the pet” in every situation.

This is an exciting position in a large and busy vet hospital that will see the successful applicant be tasked with responsibility across all aspects of veterinary nursing. However we don’t believe you became a vet nurse to answer phones or mop floors. While some of this type of activity is required we have a team of four dedicated receptionists and cleaners every night to do “the hard yards”.

- THE VN JOB OPPORTUNITY YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR –

Ok Brisbane nurses I have A LOT to tell you, so I’ll try to keep this concise…

We are the most progressive, staff-centric, fun, and energetic team you’ll find anywhere and we’re looking for an experienced nurse to fill a full-time OR part-time role.

The clinic is beautifully presented, the equipment is comprehensive, and the business model is boutique so we can afford to pay you well

But by far and away our greatest asset is our people! We’re a small team of six (3 VNs, 2 Vets and 1 Owner). We’re all very friendly and down to earth - our Facebook page tells the story https://www.facebook.com/mylocalvetclinic

We love having fun together in and outside of work. In September we’re going scuba diving at Byron Bay, in October we’re spending a weekend lazing by the pool at this place: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/39672665?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=36f2bb70-201b-4ac8-b05a-fbb02da4673a

And in December we’re sailing around Moreton Bay on this epic catamaran for three days: https://www.moretonbayholidaysafloat.com/moreton-magic-sailing-catamaran/?fbclid=IwAR0D5m6EOiXnxmB1uPbl1ulKthaZeODdg2x7ucXx9aFb0PKrcybBV1uIe3M

All these activities are paid for by the clinic. Why? Because I believe the way to create an award-winning team is by providing unique and exciting opportunities for them to bond over shared experiences and it if these experiences are totally awesome then it really shows just how much I value them!

If you can choose where you work, then why wouldn’t you work somewhere seriously awesome?

When you join our team, you will get:

Our nurses DO COOL STUFF. After all, it’s what they were trained to do! Intubation, radiology, professional descaling, nurse consultations etc. They're not cleaning cages all day. Far from it, they're engaged in challenging, professionally fulfilling work and at the end of the day they don't have to worry about wiping down benches or doing the floors – they leave that for the cleaners!

We're all about quality: Our standard consultation time is 30 minutes so we can do a thorough job, we have a medicine specialist visit the practice frequently to do ultrasounds and provide advice around case management, we have a surgical specialist that does the same, our equipment includes multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, baer huggers, IV fluid warmers, electrocautery, suction, im3 dental suite including digital dental radiology, DR survey radiology, tonometry, Procyte and Catalyst One.

REDVets / Toowoomba Family Vets, East Toowoomba (posted 12th August)

Surgical Veterinary Nurse

LOVE being a vet nurse?
But BORED with some of the mundane and basic tasks?
Want to do what you love AND be challenged by assisting in complex surgical cases?

The Challenge

Nurses are often expected to be superstar all-rounders…
What if you could be a superstar in the one area of nursing that brings you the most joy?

We understand that not everyone loves reception, nurse consults and emergency…
That’s why we put the right people in their best position!

The Opportunity

We are thrilled to have just employed a full-time referral surgeon…
Now we need to create a surgical nursing team to help build this service from scratch!

While experience in referral/specialist surgery would be advantageous…
If you are confident in anaesthesia and surgery management and willing learn then this is something for you!

Click here to see our clinic photos!

Who are we?

Here at REDvets Toowoomba we have a large team of vets and nurses…

We’ve created a built-in support system of like-minded people to share your highs and lows!

We are an easy-going bunch who love a good practical joke, especially when Dr Louis is involved!

Here’s what one of our team members has to say about working with us…

“When I first started at Toowoomba Family Vets, after almost 20 years in the industry, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the nursing team. It didn’t take long to discover that training staff to grow their skill set was a high priority for the management team. They recognized that having well trained staff, working as a valued part of a high performing team, would lead to increased job satisfaction while also setting them apart from others in the industry.  There is a confidence building, encouraging approach to learning with plenty of room to advance my skills as a veterinary nurse.

I also enjoy the distinct family approach to patient care from the reception team to the veterinarian and nursing team, everyone works in conjunction to provide a gold standard level of patient care.

The positive, encouraging, and inclusive culture that is inspired by an approachable management team and carried throughout the business is the reason I love going to work.”

Nikki Lobwein – Veterinary Nurse

What do we need from you?

We need you to care…
…about our patients, about our team and about yourself.

We need you to have great attention to detail…
… surgical nursing is intricate and precise, all the way from scrubbing a kit to scrubbing into surgery!

We need you to collaborate…
… one person can’t achieve greatness; it takes a team sharing ideas to make the magic happen!

We need you to communicate…
… feedback goes both ways, and we want to have an open dialogue to help each other grow.

Where to from here?

The role is permanent PT with a set roster of 4 days per week.

Nurses play a valuable role in successful outcomes for our patients, and you will be financially rewarded accordingly.

If this opportunity has got you excited, then we would love to hear from you.

Rather than sending a CV and Cover Letter, we’d love to have a chat with you…

Send a text to Brooke on 0416 204 436 and we will arrange a time for a call.

If the opportunity is right to explore further, I am sure we will both know it!
