Sunshine Coast Vets, Pomona, West Noosa Heads (posted 5th November) Veterinary Nurse / Technician

Sunshine Coast Vets Logo

Vet Nurse/Vet Tech - Great Pay, Great Location, Great Work Life Balance

Small country practice with big, devoted clientele (read our reviews)

The position requires high doses of:

We are not a corporate! Just a young team of super enthusiastic and talented animal lovers who are living our dream. Our small country clinic in the small town of Pomona (close to Noosa....think beautiful beaches / great surf / restaurants / hiking) is as close to James Herriott as you could get! We are solely small animal but also work with several wildlife rescue groups. We aim to be the best employer in the industry with the highest standard of care, best working conditions and best wages available. We have excellent staff retention, already have the best employees and are looking for one more. i.e: You !

Our clinic started in 2010 opening in a small shop in Pomona's main street. After 5 years we had "outgrown" ourselves and shifted to a grand old bank building which we converted to the surgery we have today. Back then we certainly didn't have the effective tick preventatives we have today and there began a tradition of sleeping next to the cage and doing whatever it needed to pull a patient through. Thankfully we don't see nearly as many tick cases today (or yawning) however the same dedication to the care of our patients remains. We don't expect you to sleep by any cages but we do require someone with the same drive and dedication that in many cases is the difference between a precious family member making it back home or not. We have all the usual gadgets (Digital x ray, The latest in House Blood Machines etc) but it's our attitude to what we do that sets us apart. If an animal needs it...it gets done....whether that means enlisting the help of visiting imaging specialists or referral for complicated spinal surgery. Thankfully we have an excellent clientele that allow us to practice "Best practice medicine" ensuring excellent job satisfaction. When $ preclude treatment we are a clinic that has a big heart and always finds a way to help somehow.

Our nurses/techs come from many different backgrounds and countries. Clem our other vet likes cheese for dessert....she's French. Ruby likes piercings and her Harley ...She's from Holland. Becs got a "Jet Burner stove" and likes hiking...she's from Canada...The rest of us are born and bred Aussies.

About this Role:

We would love to hear from you!

victoria point logo

Experienced veterinary nurse, Victoria Point Vet Hospital, Brisbane.

Victoria Point Veterinary Hospital is a rapidly expanding, non-corporate small animal practice situated in Brisbane’s Redlands Coast. We are seeking a veterinary nurse of at least 3 years experience for a full time position, although part time may be negotiable for the right applicant.

Our opening hours are lifestyle friendly: 7.30-6 week days and Saturday mornings only, no Sundays, public holidays or OOH. We value lunch breaks (in our upstairs lunch room which is always well stocked with Nespresso machine and chocolate biscuits) and getting out on time in the evenings. You will have a four-day working week with a regular RDO, and a share of Saturday mornings.

We have large purpose-built premises in a busy centre. Our clients are loyal and committed and we really value our client relationships. Our nurses form a vital part of our client interaction and communication, and you will need to be comfortable getting to know our clients and becoming “one of the family”.

We aim to do everything to the best standard possible in general practice. We have all the usual toys: digital X-ray, im3 dental gear and dental X-ray, ultrasound, full Idexx lab, orthopaedic gear, extensive monitoring gear including capnography. We do lots of medical work ups and soft tissue surgery in house, as well as orthopaedics (including TPLOs) and you will be involved in a wide range of medical and surgical cases. You will need to be confident in patient and anaesthetic monitoring for non-routine surgical procedures.

Duties will be a mix of reception and hospital/surgical nursing. You will be working with a team of highly experienced senior nurses but will also have some responsibility for supervising junior nurses. Our vet team consists of five vets of 1-30 years experience. Our team is friendly, fun and social. We encourage our nursing team’s continuing education and development. Our family owned practice is family friendly and supports a fantastic work-life balance

Redlands Coast is a well-established and still growing area on Brisbane’s Southern Bayside, 45 minutes to Brisbane city, 1 hour to the Gold Coast and 90 minutes to the Sunshine Coast. Close to most things with great housing options and schools and close to the water.
