Looking for a qualified Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse with a minimum 2yrs experience, for immediate start in a Full-time position, we have a 4-week rotating roster with 38 hours per week, one Saturday and shared afterhours.

Whilst we seek to source an experienced Vet Nurse, Students and new graduates may still be considered, subject to their suitability.

Our clinic is very fast paced, busy and has a varied workload. We have high surgery loads, high client demand and a large variety in day to day tasks.

Each nurse rotates through Hospital nurse, Surgical Nurse, Reception and Consult Nurse with full autonomy in their role. We all contribute to client communication, ordering/stock control, admit and discharge, surgical prep and monitoring, reporting to the vets on patient progress, invoicing and everything in-between.

In saying all of that, we are a very light-hearted team and nothing is too hard, too much or too big an issue. We have very approachable management and discuss all changes and ideas as a team.

We are a small team consisting of Dr Chris Pretorius who is the owner/director, a Practice Manager and 5 nurses.

We are a close team and regularly catch up outside of work for drinks and exploring what Far North Queensland has to offer. We are all quite active and enjoy living a full lifestyle.

Our main focus is customer service and catering to our clients. We have a very practical approach and our clients are a part of our big family rather than just a number.

We offer a huge variety of services including general surgery, dentals, radiology, ultrasound and referral options, a variety of soft tissue surgery such as soft palate/nares and anal gland resection, and a large variety of orthopaedic surgeries such as TTA’s, FHO, Patella and fracture repair.

We do a lot of work with rescue and rehoming groups. We have separate isolation, dog and cat wards, theatre and digital x-ray, dental and knockdown areas and a recovery area.

We run RxWorks, Petyeti online bookings, Idexx in-house laboratory, digital general and dental radiographs, and IM3 dentistry. In this role, you will not only be nursing. We are looking for the full-package, confident in the consult room, reception and happy to perform the routine cleaning that comes with the territory. The ability to move fast, multi-task, and proactively think ahead is a must. Previous nurse consulting experience would be an advantage. We require a qualified/experienced vet nurse, this is not a role for someone entering the industry.

Duties will include:

The role allows for approx. 25hrs/wk including alternate Saturday mornings. We are however flexible regarding the number of hours on offer as finding the right candidate is paramount to this busy environment. Ferny Grove Veterinary Surgery northside Brisbane requires a casual veterinary nurse to join our team.

We are after a happy person who is committed to patient and customer care. A person who is capable of acting independently or as part of a team.

The position will provide about 25 hours a week of work. Work 1 in 4 Saturday mornings.
