About Us
Our purpose-built hospital at 61 Hospital Road, Emerald is known for delivering exceptional veterinary care across the Central Highlands. With 4 consult rooms, double surgery suites, separate dog and cat wards, and a state-of-the-art treatment area, we're equipped for everything from routine care to complex orthopaedic surgeries. We're proud of our high standards, our compassionate team, and the strong relationships we build with clients and their pets.
We also have a satellite clinic in Blackwater that is open 3 days a week. It is a newly built practice with all the bells and whistles, running on a small fun team. Shifts at this location are shared between the staff with travel time and transport included for any rostered shifts there.
We also operate a large animal hospital and equine breeding centre (Maraboon Rural Vet Services) and Pet Resort in Emerald. The Maraboon Pet Resort is also undergoing a building extension and a new vet clinic will be opening there in late 2026, so we need more exceptional staff coming on board to fill the new positions.

RSPCA Queensland is seeking passionate and capable Overnight Veterinary Nurses to join our hospital team and support the delivery of high-quality care to animals in need.
Working within a busy and varied clinical environment, you’ll provide both medical and surgical nursing care to animals admitted through a range of pathways, including public admissions, RSPCA animal ambulances, Community Outreach, Inspectorate cases and transfers from regional shelters. The caseload is diverse, the pace is fast and the work is deeply rewarding.
This role will suit nurses who prefer working outside of traditional daytime hours, including those balancing study, family commitments, or secondary employment, while still wanting to work in a rewarding clinical environment that makes a real difference for animals in need.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for Veterinary Nurses who are confident working independently overnight and who bring a calm, organised and attentive approach to patient care.

What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
- Providing medical and surgical nursing care to animals in the care of RSPCA Queensland.
- Assisting veterinarians with examinations, treatments and procedures.
- Administering routine veterinary treatments and medications.
- Performing routine laboratory and pathology testing.
- Triage and intake of animals presenting to the hospital.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and assisting with hospital data entry and appointment bookings.
- Supporting veterinary reception functions when required.
- Ensuring the hospital environment remains clean, safe and hygienic at all times.

As a Senior Veterinary Nurse at our Wacol Domestic Hospital, you’ll sit at the heart of our Veterinary Services team, combining hands-on nursing with meaningful people leadership and operational influence.
