Permanent ¾ full time Vet Tech / Nurse required for vet practice in Mooloolah.

We are 90% small animals with some horse and occasional hobby farm or exotic animal work. We have a happy harmonious work environment and aim for high quality care of our patients and clients. We look after our staff and believe happy staff makes for a better workplace for everyone.

The applicant will be working with the vet as the only assistant and be required to help with all aspects of the vet surgery including reception, holding animals, clipping and hydrobathing, administration, ordering, setup and clean up for surgeries, sending pathology etc. As the only nurse in the clinic we must have a qualified vet tech or nurse or demonstrated sufficient experience. We are not in a position to take on trainee nurses.

The clinic has is well equipped including digital radiographs, real time anaesthetic monitoring (ECG, SpO2, BP, Temp etc.), new autoclave, heated surgery table and some in house laboratory but mostly uses Idexx for pathology. We are relocating to new larger premises in 2019.

We are seeking someone for 3-4 days a week with the preference for Wednesday to Friday. Hours are 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and every second Sat 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Some flexibility to stay longer to assist with emergency surgeries when they arise is preferable. Change of roster with our other nurse is possible with advanced notice. Increased hours are possible if our workload can support it.

We are seeking someone that is easy to get along with, communicates well with clients, has a pleasant phone manner and handles animals well. Emotional intelligence, initiative, attention to detail, thoroughness, good time management, completing tasks fully and a cheerful calm manner are personal attributes that we seek in applicants for this permanent position.

Pay is dependent on qualifications and experience but the highest end of the award applies once proficiency has been demonstrated in the job. There are annual bonuses for longer stay. Previous staff have only left because their personal circumstances have changed. Our other nurse has been with us for 8 years.
