The Berwick Village Vet, South-East Melbourne (posted 20th September)

berwick_village_logo.JPG

Full time Nurse (or two Part time)

We are looking for a nurse, a good nurse who loves her job. We are a small animal only clinic who works Monday to Friday, and Saturday mornings. We don't do any after hours and refer to our local emergency centres.

Do all Vet clinics say they have awesome clients? We really do seem to have a great clientele. Yes, we have the odd eccentric, but we don't seem to have the aggressive clients I see other clinics write about regularly.

As with all clinics, we are getting busier and busier. However, we have been able to increase vet hours of existing staff, and we have just taken on a P/T Vet, so we have still been able to apply good scheduling and offer a high level of care and customer service. But it's left a hole for more nurse cover!

Is this you?

After reading this ad, you have either filled the brief or not from our perspective. So, what is it YOU are after? I'm all ears. If you have questions let me have them! We both need you to be happy with the role, so let's try and get it right. We try to accommodate rostering requirements where possible.

Please send me your C.V. if this sounds like an opportunity you'd like to explore further.

jeremy@berwickvillagevet.com.au If you'd like to call then please call 9707 3855.

Centre for Animal Referral & Emergency, Collingwood (posted 7th September)

care_2021_logo.jpg

Emergency & Critical Care Nurse

The Centre for Animal Referral & Emergency (CARE) is looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious nurse to become part of a dynamic, progressive team of nurses and veterinarians in a high-volume emergency and critical care environment.

About CARE

CARE is a busy, privately-owned, multi-specialist veterinary hospital located in Collingwood, on the fringe of the Melbourne CBD. It evolved from an ardent intention to provide the highest standards of patient care in a cooperative and cohesive, team-oriented environment that respects, supports and encourages the personal balance and professional development of its staff. This focus has fostered the development of excellent relationships within our staff, and with our referring veterinarians and clients. The hospital is staffed by an outstanding team of emergency veterinarians and nurses, working alongside specialists in internal medicine, emergency and critical care, and surgery.

The centre is very well equipped with imaging (Siemens 16-slice CT, digital radiography, digital subtraction fluoroscopy, Phillips affinity and POC ultrasound machines, regular off-site access to 3T MRI imaging), critical care (6 new Menios oxygen cages, new Getinge Servo-u ventilator and newly created critical care suite), laboratory (Radiometer blood-gas machine, IDEXX Procyte haematology, Catalyst biochemistry and coagulation machines) and other equipment such as Olympus endoscopy and advanced anaesthetic monitoring.

The Position

The Emergency & Critical Care department at CARE enjoys a consistently busy caseload that encompasses an interesting and broad range of presentations. In this position, you will work with a dedicated and cohesive team of experienced nurses in caring for the cases presenting to, and hospitalised within, the Emergency & Critical Care department. It involves many aspects including: triage, in-patient care, assistance with anaesthesia and procedures, laboratory procedures, discussion of patient progress with owners and occasional reception duties.

The nature of emergency and critical care mandates continuous care and necessarily, this position involves a combination of day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts. The distribution of these shifts within the roster is carefully supervised by highly experienced and understanding nursing managers, who also participate in the roster.

The staff of CARE take pride in the benefits of interdepartmental cooperation in case management.   ICU cases frequently benefit from the contributions of multiple specialist disciplines, as well as the support and guidance of a board-certified emergency and critical care specialist. This collaboration provides an excellent opportunity for learning and case follow-up. Beyond this, continuing education is encouraged through regular tutorials and daily rounds that are provided for the benefit of all staff, including the dedicated teams of Emergency and Critical Care veterinary and nursing interns.

The role can be part-time or full-time, with the emphasis being on finding the right person rather than the specific terms. It is important that the successful applicant embraces our core values, integrates well, and values the pursuit of excellence in client and patient care. They will be experienced, motivated, conscientious, and effective in their written and verbal communication with clients, referring veterinarians and other hospital staff.

About You

Emergency and critical care is typically a fast-paced, demanding, yet intensely rewarding discipline. Nursing in this field commonly attracts those who are not discouraged by these challenges, approaching them with a genuine intent to benefit patient outcomes and naturally cooperate within a team to achieve this.

Certificate IV in nursing (or equivalent qualification) is a prerequisite foundation. Nursing experience in a multi-specialist or emergency and critical care facility is considered beneficial, but is not critical and is readily overshadowed by enthusiasm and a friendly, team-oriented personality.

Remuneration

CARE ECC nurses are attractively remunerated on a “base plus loading” basis. Base rates are generous, ranging from $26 to $31 per hour, with additional loading applied to long shifts, shifts occurring in the evenings, and shifts on weekends.

Rate of Pay:

Monday to Friday                                              Saturday          Sunday        Public Holiday
Day Shift              Swing Shift       Night Shift
100%                   115%                130%          150%              200%           250%

On shifts with a length exceeding 8 hours, the ninth hour onwards is paid at 150% instead of the above loading rate (unless the above loading rate is higher). On shifts with a length exceeding 11 hours, the twelfth hour onwards is paid at 200% instead of the loading rate.

While shift patterns are variable, on the above basis a permanent full-time ECC nurse can expect to achieve annual remuneration in the range of $78-$90k plus superannuation (or pro rata part time).

Life at CARE

The successful candidate will enjoy:

How to Apply

Applications and enquiries should be directed to Ms Erin Gibson via careers@carevet.com.au Applications should include a cover letter outlining your suitability and enthusiasm for the position, and a current CV (including contact details for three references).

Dandenong Veterinary Hospital

WANTED: Veterinary Nurse, experienced, CASUAL.

Calling all experienced casuals! Looking for some additional shifts? Looking for a team that puts patients, clients and our lovely team at the centre of what they do, and also cares for the environment? We would love the extra support you could provide!

We are a 3 vet small animal Vet Hospital in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, and one of the oldest clinics in Melbourne (we began caring for local pets 94 years ago!). Although we are one of the oldest clinics, we are certainly not outdated in our patient care, having two enthusiastic practice owners who ensure that we strive to provide optimum care and standards to our clients and patients.

Role summary:

We are proud of the care we offer, having a large focus on wellness preventative care. We all work together to provide team-driven care, so you will need the ability to work well within the team.

We have high standards amongst everyone in the team and to assist you in this there are designated duty checklists and many hospital standards-of-care for patients and clients. An attention to detail in completing all designated tasks is expected. If you have pride in your personal standards and your quality of care, then you are just the sort of person we seek!

We are keen in the use of modern technology, using both Ezyvet and Smartflow, allowing us to practice mostly paper-free. We care for our environment and utilize waste sorting including soft plastic recycling which traditionally makes up such a large component of un-necessary waste from our industry.

If you want to work in a team that truly values pet advocacy, engaging clients, and supporting fellow team members, then waste no time sending your cover letter and resume through!

Applications via email to:

Dr. Jessica Morse,
Email: jessica_morse@live.com
