Townsend Veterinary Clinic, Albury, NSW (posted 15th March) Full or Part Time

Townsend Veterinary Clinic is a new, purpose-built small animal practice based in the beautiful regional centre of Albury, on the border of New South Wales and Victoria.

The practice directors, Shelley and Kim, had a vision for a welcoming, friendly practice that is involved with the local community. We wanted pets and owners to feel comfortable at the clinic, and we wanted the clients to feel well-informed and involved with their pets' treatment. Our little dream has become a reality and we have been warmly embraced by the community, and have been able to practice gold-standard care with the full-support of our fantastic clients.

We are heavily involved with the local community and regularly host community events. Some of the events we have organised so far include dog yoga, twilight cinema, pet photography sessions, information evenings, as well as regular attendance at local markets. We perform significant amounts of rescue and charity work, and we are very proud of our achievements so far since opening our doors in December 2017.

The clinic is well-equipped and spacious, with brand-new advanced equipment including: digital radiography including dental radiography (standard for all dental procedures); ultrasound; advanced anaesthesia monitoring including blood pressure, ECG, and end-tidal carbon dioxide monitoring; Tonopen for intraocular pressure measurement; in-house lab with biochemistry, PT/APTT, blood gases and electrolytes; separate sterile surgical theatre with suction, cautery and Bair huggers. IV fluids are standard with all procedures. We also just finished work on a brand new cat hospital/surgery ward upstairs which we are very proud of.

We are a small, close-knit and social team. Dr. Shelley and Nurse Kim have a background in emergency and critical care and are very happy to provide learning and support to all staff. Our clinic has a large focus on learning and as such we will always support our staff through any further education they wish to do. Our nurses all have their own areas of interest and this has lead to further training in physiotherapy, dental radiology and anaesthesia. Our nursing team is very efficient, with set roles on each day. We hold our nurses in very high regard due to their experience, and as such most admissions and discharges are done by our nurses as well as dental consults, post-dental and post-desexing check ups.

We are after a part-time to full-time Veterinary Nurse and we are flexible with the roster. We currently have 3 other nurses with a rotating weekend roster, however the clinic is only open 9-1 Saturdays and closed Sundays so weekend work is minimal. We are looking for a vet nurse with experience, fits in well with our team and has a passion for veterinary nursing. We are after a nurse that has the ability to be pro-active around the clinic and work together as a team to provide gold-standard care for our clients and patients.

What about the location? The border North East region is absolutely stunning. The clinic is walking distance to the beautiful Murray River and in summer we all enjoy a float down the river, or a game of beach-volleyball at the courts down the road. There are fantastic restaurants, cafes and wineries. We are close to the snow, as well as the beautiful towns of Beechworth, Rutherglen and Bright.

More information about us can be found on our website or on our Facebook page.

If you would like to apply for this position, please email a cover letter and CV to our practice manager Tom: or call (02) 6046 9846.

Referral Hospital

Due to continued growth, Southpaws Specialty and Referral Hospital is seeking an experienced and qualified surgical veterinary day nurse to join our dynamic and dedicated team.

The successful candidates will work 4 x 10 hour days per week with one rostered day off per week. Nurses will be required to work weekends on a rotating roster, most likely 1 in 4 or less. However, on these weekends we offer generous penalty rates.

We are one of Australia's premier veterinary hospitals for surgery, medical oncology and internal medicine for dogs and cats. Surgical nurses get the opportunity to also rotate through ward and internal medicine duties depending on work flow demands.

Our clinic is a well equipped, purpose built referral hospital in Moorabbin and we have constructed a brand new hospital facility with the latest equipment and capabilities. We pride ourselves on the highest levels of patient care. We are not a primary access emergency centre so you get to focus on patient care without disruption and this also means that our nursing positions are not rotated through night work.

We offer a great team environment with flexible benefits for our staff. We value team players with a can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
