The hours (COVID Style)

As with most places, we are doing this a little different to ‘normal’ now. This means you would be joining one of our two teams, working every second full day. You will be rostered 7.30am-8.30pm Tues > Thurs > Sat (shorter day) > Mon > Wed > Fri > before a 3-day break (then repeat). This equates to a 67+ hour fortnight (although penalties for long days help bridge the financial gap). Although the days are long, having the following day off allows you to switch off, unwind and refresh. As restrictions lesson and we return to a united workforce family with shorter shifts there is the prospect of this becoming a full-time position.

CARE is a large 24hr multidisciplinary hospital based in Collingwood (just 3km from the CBD). The hospital is staffed with an outstanding team of emergency veterinarians and nurses, working alongside specialists in internal medicine, emergency and critical care, surgery, radiology, and neurology.

About You:

CARE is seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious nurse who thrives on the “organised chaos” of trauma, injury, and the other acute presentations of emergency patients.

You would have your Certificate IV (or equivalent) qualification and, ideally, an additional three or more years of experience, to provide you with a good foundation of knowledge and the skills required to work in a busy ICU environment. Previous experience in an ICU and/or specialist centre will be viewed favourably.

The successful candidate will understand the nature of shift work – with rosters that include some nights and weekends (2/4) – and thus the importance of fostering a friendly and collaborative work culture in our tight-knit team.

You will have the meticulous attention to detail required to meet CARE’s high standard of nursing, record keeping, customer service, and cleanliness.
