Where you will be working:
We have everything you need to provide the best care to your patients.

You will be working in our new state of the art purpose-built hospital that’s fully equipped to get you your diagnosis with the latest imaging and diagnostic equipment.

Utilise the full in-house laboratory (CBC, biochemistry, blood gas, coags, sedivue), and IDEXX’s Extended Internal Medical Specialist Consultation Services after hours.  We also have ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy, 64 slice CT and high field MRI. There’s 3 dedicated surgical suites, 8 consultation rooms, and a dedicated grieving room.

Our emergency department works alongside our specialist surgical, medical, oncology, behaviour, and orthopaedic medicine & rehabilitation departments.

Bonus perks at ARH Canberra also include ample free undercover parking and a snack cupboard always stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits and an array of snacks!

Our emergency department currently operates through the afternoon, evening and overnight period closing at 8am through the week, and is operational 24/7 on weekends and public holidays.  We see primary consultations, patients referred from general practice clinics for overnight and ongoing care, and oversee the hospitalised referral department patients after hours.

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Veterinarian to join our Monash practice on a full-time or part-time basis. As a key member of our team, you’ll handle approximately 15 small animal consultations and 3 or more surgical procedures each day. While most of our patients are dogs and cats, you may occasionally treat rabbits or birds. No after-hours duties are required, as all calls are referred to emergency centres in Canberra.

The Animal Referral Hospital is a part of Australia’s largest well-established group of specialist veterinary hospitals dedicated to providing the best possible care to our patients, our clients, and our staff. We offer a wide range of specialist services and provide 24-hour emergency and critical care through our facilities in NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, and SA.

ARH Canberra is an around the clock service to the community for their beloved pets. We relocated in November 2021 to a brand-new purpose-built Specialist and Emergency Facility out near the airport. We have a brand-new MRI and CT, and all the equipment you would need across the dedicated spaces.

The Internship Program

As a Medicine Intern at ARH, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside our experienced specialists and gain hands-on experience. This intensive internship program will expose you to diverse cases, including emergency medicine, critical care, neurology, surgery, and more.

Under the guidance of our specialists, you will be actively involved in patient care, diagnostics, treatment planning, and client communication. You will have access to our state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced imaging and dedicated surgical suites. Throughout the internship, you will receive mentorship and ongoing support to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge. Journal reviews and the writing of papers will be encouraged and supported as part of further learning.

Qualifications
This opportunity is best suited to a veterinarian with at least 1 year post-graduation experience, graduating from a university accredited by the Australasian Veterinary Boards’ Council (or have completed NAVLE, AVE or alike examinations) who is comfortable consulting, diagnosing and treating companion animals with autonomy and committed to delivering fear-free, compassionate and industry leading health care to our patients and their loving families.
