To be successful in the surgery nurse role, you will have:
🔵A Certificate IV in veterinary nursing, the equivalent or higher.
🔵A real passion for surgery and anaesthesia.
🔵A minimum of 3 years of experience in general practice.
🔵Previous experience in a referral hospital would be an advantage, however your approach is the most important thing to us. You will get training and support if you have the right attitude, but only lack the experience.
Role Responsibilities:
🔵Monitoring anaesthesia.
🔵Preparing patients for surgery - blood taking/testing, catheter placement, clip and prep of surgical site.
🔵Opening of sterile equipment and gowning surgeons/assistants
🔵Cleaning and turning over prep room and surgical suites
🔵Keeping consumables adequately stocked
🔵Scrubbing into procedures as required such as Hip replacements, TPLO’s,
🔵Spinal decompressions, Fracture repairs and many more!
