Position Overview:
As the Emergency Nurse Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the emergency nursing team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to our patients. You will be responsible for providing leadership, support, and guidance to our nursing staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, and ensuring efficient workflow within the emergency department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the emergency nursing team, including roster management, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Coordinate and prioritize patient care to ensure timely and effective delivery of emergency nursing services.
- Provide hands-on nursing care to patients during high-volume periods or complex cases.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, specialists, and other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Act as a mentor and resource for nursing staff, facilitating ongoing education and training initiatives.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the advancement of emergency nursing practice.
About You:
- Cert IV in Vet Nursing or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency and critical care nursing, with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of emergency nursing practices and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Experienced Veterinary Nurse
The Veterinary Dermatology Clinic is an independently owned and operated specialty service established in 2016. We now operate at multiple clinics along the east coast of Australia including Canberra (Gungahlin Veterinary Hospital and the Animal Referral Hospital) and Sydney (Sydney Veterinary Emergency and Specialists (SVES), Veterinary Specialists of Sydney (VSOS) and North Shore Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre (NSVH)). We also conduct regular visits to regional areas including Newcastle, Kiama, Albury, Bowral and Hobart.
We are a small but super busy team committed to practicing an excellent standard of veterinary dermatology and veterinary medicine in general. Our patient's quality of life is our focus.
We love continuing education and provide regular opportunities for you to further develop your specialty veterinary nursing skills.
We are currently recruiting for an amazing, friendly, energetic veterinary nurse to join our rapidly expanding team to support our Sydney location.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
- Ideally 3-5 years or more of clinical nursing experience, however we value a keen and positive attitude towards learning more! Previous dermatology experience is not necessary, and we are happy to provide you with all the training you need.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Driver’s Licence
The responsibilities of this role would include:
- Assisting with admission and discharge of patients for consultations and procedures
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Calculating, preparing and administering medication as directed by the veterinary specialist
- Anaesthetic monitoring
- Assisting with intradermal allergy testing, bee and wasp venom testing, video-otoscopy and skin biopsies
- Client follow up and patient after consult care
The position available is part time - 7.30am - 5.30pm Monday and Tuesday, contact us for specifics regarding hours and location.
