About the Role
You’ll work closely with our dermatology specialists at set locations on specific days during the week. We’ll provide full training in derm-specific procedures, so don’t worry if this is new to you.
Your day could include:
- Assisting with consults, admissions, and discharges
- Venipuncture, IV catheter placement
- Anaesthesia monitoring and medication prep
- Allergy testing, video-otoscopy, and skin biopsy assistance
- Supporting clients and helping their pets live itch-free, comfy lives
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have:
- Cert IV in Vet Nursing
- Ideally 2+ years in GP or referral practice
- Strong communication and people skills
- A collaborative, team-first attitude
- A driver’s license and reliable transport
- A willingness to learn something new in a no-drama, high-trust team

Your Role
We’re looking for a veterinary nurse who isn’t just skilled, but who’s also got a great heart. You’ll join a team that supports each other, shares knowledge, and laughs often. Your days will include:
- All aspects of surgical and hospital nursing, including care of surgery cases, hospital patients, anaesthesia monitoring and record keeping (Smartflow), and supporting the veterinarians
- Reception duties and administration, including RxWorks operations, Smartflow operations, scheduling appointments, record keeping, client communications and inventory management
- Admission and discharge of surgical and hospital patients
- Open participation in ongoing clinic improvements and team meetings
- Nurse consultations
- Performing pathology testing
- Building rapport with clients through thoughtful communication and clear education
- Contributing to the overall performance and morale of the clinic through teamwork and mentorship
- Participating in continued professional development and knowledge-sharing

Ideal Candidate Traits
You’re someone who thrives in a busy, animal-loving environment. You bring:
- Completion of or soon to complete a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Bachelor of Veterinary Technology
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred
- Empathetic, clear, and confident communicator, providing outstanding customer service and patient care
- Flexible, open to growth, and ready to make genuine relationships
- Ability to be flexible with rosters, and available to fill in if one of the team are sick
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and desire to learn and develop your knowledge and skills

Northside Veterinary Centre is a non-corporate, locally owned and run clinic. We are a team of passionate, fun and supportive vets, nurses, kennel hands and receptionists. We advocate and aim for fear-free veterinary care and our clinic is an ISFM Silver Accredited Cat-Friendly Clinic. We have fabulous clients who are willing to work cases up and frequently take up the offer of specialist referral (but we still get to work up many interesting cases).
Our existing vets have memberships in small animal medicine, feline medicine and small animal dentistry, and have undertaken CVE distance education certificates in cardio-respiratory medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, behaviour and imaging.
We are looking for an honest, hardworking, qualified and experienced nurse to join our team. We encourage and support ongoing learning and offer a great work-life balance, by understanding that life also exists outside of work.
The primary role of this position is to provide a high level of care to both medical and surgical patients. The clinic has all the normal toys: two sterile surgeries, digital radiography, ultrasound, separate cat and dog consulting rooms and wards, heated and oxygen capable cages, tonometer, BAIR huggers, multi-parameter monitors, a full pathology suite, and a dedicated dental suite with built-in dental radiography.
The clinic currently opens 8am-6pm Monday-Friday and 8am-1pm Saturday. We are closed Sundays and all public holidays.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be comfortable with all aspects of clinical nursing
- Be able to work in a team and also be self-motivated
- Be able to work a rotating roster, including some Saturdays
- Have experience working in a small animal clinic
- Have high standards and attention to detail, with exceptional customer service and strong communication skills

Who We’re Looking For
We are currently seeking both Junior and or highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Nurses with or currently studying a Certificate IV qualification or equivalent. The right nurse to join our team should be confident working independently, have strong attention to detail, (Senior Nurses) and be capable of delivering advanced nursing care with minimal supervision.
Desirable but not essential skills for Junior Nurse applicants include animal handling, anaesthesia knowledge, and experience with X-rays, dental procedures, catheterisation, and pathology sample collection. You should be comfortable providing independent patient care, supervising junior nurses and liaising with clients. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to client education are essential.
