What We’re Looking For:
- Holds certificate IV in Vet Nursing or equivalent qualification.
- Strong experience in nursing and handling a variety of cases.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay calm under pressure.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.

About The Role
- Assisting our veterinarians with routine exams and procedures
- Providing surgical and hospital nursing care, including anaesthetic monitoring
- Delivering pre- and post-operative patient care, as well as offering grief support to clients
- Administering medications and preparing treatments as required
- Managing the admission and discharge process for surgical and hospital patients
- Communicating treatment plans and updates to clients
- Performing blood collection, testing, and IV catheter placement
- Assisting with diagnostic imaging (x-rays and ultrasounds)
- Supporting dental care, including scale and polish and performing dental x-rays
- Contributing to day-to-day nursing tasks to support our vets and team in providing the highest standard of patient care

Bungendore Veterinary Surgery, Queanbeyan Region, NSW near ACT Border (posted 20th May)
We are seeking a full-time Veterinary Receptionist OR full-time employee to work between a small animal nursing role and reception role. Bungendore Veterinary Surgery is a busy rural mixed practice close to Canberra and Queanbeyan. We strive for excellent patient care and customer service and we are privileged to have a fun and hard-working team.
The responsibilities and duties would include:
- Taking telephone calls
- Booking patient appointments
- Billing counter sales
- Liaising with clients, veterinarians, laboratories etc.
- Typing documents and letters.
- Responding to enquiries from new and existing clients (in person, over the phone, via email) in a timely and professional manner
- Providing a positive experience for clients whilst undertaking front-of-house duties
- Assisting clients when needed such as helping them with purchases to their car
- Welcoming pets into the clinic and helping to make an animal’s experience as stress free as possible
- Ensuring the reception area and waiting room remain clean and well presented
- Working collaboratively alongside other reception staff
- Other duties as directed by the Practice Manager
+/- small animal nursing role which would include: patient care, assisting with procedures, monitoring patients, client education, maintaining the clinic, sample collection, record keeping and assisting with surgery.
The right person for the role would have the following attributes:
- A warm and welcoming personality
- The ability to empathise with people experiencing emotionally difficult times
- Communicates professionally, positively, and with attention to detail - particularly with regards to phone manner and personal interactions
- Have good time management
- An ability to work well as part of a team
- Find satisfaction in maintaining a well-organised, and tidy environment
- Good computer and communication skills
- Experience in the veterinary or animal care industry, though this would not be essential.
This is a rewarding and challenging role where you will be well supported. This full-time position also has flexible work hours that can be negotiated. Pay rates above award commensurate with experience.
