HAMILTON HILL VET requires a friendly & experienced full-time vet to join our team due to one of our vets going on maternity break.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experienced vet (minimum 3 years) in small animal practice
- Exceptional candidates with less experience or a desire to perform a consultation - only role will also be considered

- Our last consult slot is 5.30 pm so we usually aim to finish at 6pm or 6.30pm at the latest

Oncology Internship
Perth Veterinary Specialist is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic veterinarian to join the team as a Veterinary Oncology Intern.
The opportunity
This is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the only dedicated oncology department in Western Australia. The intern would work directly with the only registered veterinary oncologists in Western Australia, an oncology registrar, and a team of experienced veterinary nurses. The internship provides exposure to a large and wide variety of oncological cases and treatment modalities, including electrochemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Key responsibilities:
- Assessment of patients for medical and radiation therapy, daily rounds presentation, treatment discussion and decision making.
- Assist in the safe administration of chemotherapy.
- Support oncology patients through required departments such as diagnostic imaging, surgery, and emergency.
- Participation in continuing education sessions and rounds, including inter-departmental journal club and rounds.
- Assisting in the training of the rotating intern and veterinary students
Qualifications:
- Qualified veterinarian with registration in Western Australia
- MANZCVS in Small Animal Medicine or current preparation would be preferred but not essential
- Sound knowledge base in small animal medicine with a strong interest in veterinary oncology
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, demonstrates initiative and committed to providing care of the highest standard.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure
The internship commences mid 2024 with the possibility of transition to a residency for the right applicant.

It has all you need from a city with great bars, restaurants, cinemas, etc. If you love sports we have great local facilities (50m indoor heated pool, international standard turf hockey pitches, lots of footy grounds, tennis courts, great surf lifesaving clubs, etc). It’s got it all!
So … you need the right job to enjoy this great area. Here’s what it’s like to work for us:
- 4-day week, plus roughly 1 in 5 or 6 Saturday mornings. We’re closed Saturday afternoons and Sundays so you have time for yourself and/ or time to spend with family & friends. There is the option of part-time, so if you’d rather do fewer days we can make it work.
- Roughly 1 night on call every 2 weeks. We have a payment gateway for our on-call service which means we filter out the non-urgent calls, and you get paid every time you answer the phone (even if you don’t get called in). We are only on call for weeknights – we are not on call on weekends or Public Holidays.
- Great support. The vets all enjoy mentoring and teaching, and with the clinic accepting referrals for ultrasounds, orthopaedic and soft-tissue surgery and oncology, there is a great opportunity to learn and grow
- CPD is strongly encouraged. Most of our vets have done at least one Sydney Uni Distance Education course, fully paid for by the clinics. We also pay for flights and accommodation for attending conferences. We don’t have a set budget for CPD – if we think you and the clinic will both benefit from something, we’ll pay for it.
- We have the toys you need. DR digital xrays, colour doppler ultrasound, Surgivet monitors, in-house blood machines and iM3 dental xrays and Vet-Tomes at each clinic
- You get out on time. We have 20-minute appointments as standard (30 minutes for puppy vaccinations, euthanasias, and complex cases) so you have time to work up cases properly. The last appointment for the day is blocked out and only available for sick animals – it means you normally have 20 minutes at the end of the day to finalise notes etc, or if a client calls at 5pm with a sick animal there’s time to see it. It doesn’t need to be squeezed in or added to the end of the day after closing.
- Pay - we have a few commitments to our team about pay:
- Everyone is paid a minimum of 15% above the Award. This includes the entire team – vets, nurses, trainees and animal attendants.
- Vets are well paid and rewarded for their work. As examples, 18 months out can expect $85,000pa as a base rate, with experienced vets over $100,000pa.
- Superannuation, After Hours payments & CPD are paid in addition to base rate
- VSB registration fees & radiation licences are paid annually/ tri-annually
- After-hours is well remunerated. Our payment gateway means you get paid to answer the phone after hours (currently $30 per call) while cutting out the non-urgent calls. We pay a generous percentage of the professional fees and you can expect to earn between $150-500/hour for any after-hours work completed (depending on the case).
What are we looking for from a vet?
- A good attitude. We can teach anyone new skills, but we can’t teach a good attitude. We need someone who will get along well with the team and have a positive, can-do approach (we have a great team that works really well together). We encourage our team to remember that there is life outside of work, and being a vet is something that we do, not who we are.
- A desire to learn. There is always so much that is new and exciting in our job. We need to keep learning and growing so we can continue to take the best possible care of our patients.
- Qualified and registered in WA. We pay your registration fees each year, but obviously you need to be a qualified vet.

- As many shadowing shifts as needed to get you comfortable and on your feet in all areas, minimum 1 month of shadow shifts for new grads. All additional training will be provided.

- 1:4 - 1:5 on call weekend – WHEN READY, equally shared between staff - currently is 1:5 and aiming to get back to 1:6.

WAROONA, PEEL REGION - MIXED
If you are looking for a veterinary practice that offers a variety of cases, a supportive team, and ample time in consultations, then this position could be just for you! Our clinic services the Peel region, but it's not uncommon for people to seek us all the way from Perth, the Southwest and beyond. Waroona is a small town about 1 hour south of Perth, and 55 minutes north of Bunbury, and we’ve had staff travel from both directions and stay on for prolonged periods of time. You can have the benefit of country practice while living in the city!
We are a mixed animal hospital with many facets. The workload consists of predominantly small animals (80%) with some large animal work (16%), and of course exotics, wildlife and avian (4%). Within the small animal practice, you will have unique opportunities to get excited by some emergencies, scratch your head to manage complicated medical cases, dabble in a bit of reproductive work, work with neonates regularly via our relationship with charity No Pup Cleft Behind, and get the opportunity to watch and learn more complicated and advanced surgeries, all while having the ability to doing most of your workup in house.
Large animals work consists mostly of working with pet goats, sheep, alpacas, pigs and local farmer’s cows. Some opportunities exist for large animal disease investigation as well. NO HORSES. Further, you will regularly see backyard chickens but also get some opportunities to care for rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice and pet birds. We also encourage the treatment of wildlife.
You will have access to some incredibly knowledgeable nurses and our head veterinarian with over 30 years of experience. Our clinic is also at the tail-end of being upgraded and extremely well-equipped. The following equipment is available to help you make a diagnosis and manage cases: IDEXX in-house labs; Procyte CBC, Catalyst, Snap Pro & Dx Sedivue & UA, Coag Dx clotting; human-hospital grade anaesthetic machines with end tidal agent monitoring, capnography and ventilators, electrocautery, endoscopes, video otoscope, tonometry, ophthalmoscope, digital X-ray, dental X-ray, vet tome, ultrasound (Esaote), cattle ultrasound, orthopaedic set up, gram stain, clinic library and more toys always coming.

This rare opportunity will provide an opportunity for recent graduates or veterinarians with an interest in Emergency and Critical Care to develop their skills in Emergency and Critical Care under the support and guidance of experienced clinicians and specialists. It will also be suited for veterinarians who are considering full-time employment with the Emergency and Critical Care team at WAVES but do not have the experience and training to work independently. It will also be suited for veterinarians who are intending to obtain further training prior to applying for residency positions in Emergency and Critical Care.

We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, intelligent, compassionate veterinarians who view being a vet as a calling and not just a career. The program will be directly mentored by our team of Emergency and Critical Care Specialists and will have the support of our senior emergency clinicians any time you are on shift. Whilst the program is primarily in the field of Emergency and Critical Care, as part of the program, you will be given the opportunity to undertake short rotations through other disciplines of your choice, including anaesthesia, internal medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging and dermatology for exposure to some of the other veterinary specialties.
Training will involve attending consultations, assisting with diagnostic investigations, surgical and medical procedures, providing nursing care for hospitalised patients, undertaking client communication, and maintenance of high-quality medical records in addition to participation in didactic training sessions. You will then progress to taking primary case management under supervision allowing you to develop the confidence and clinical skills needed in this challenging field of veterinary medicine.
Requirements
- Must be a qualified veterinarian who is eligible for registration in the state of Western Australia and hold or be eligible to hold a current radiation license.
- Candidates must have a mature approach to veterinary care and excellent communication skills.
- A genuine desire to embrace emergency medicine as a career choice.
- Availability to work on a rotating roster across weeknights, weekends and public holidays.
- Be motivated to attend training sessions including case discussions, journal clubs, seminars, lectures, etc outside of normal rostered working hours
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a range of people from support staff through to veterinary nurses and veterinary specialists

As one of Western Australia’s longest running and largest specialist veterinary referral hospitals, we are seeking expressions of interest for potential applicants for its 2025 intake.
Our internship programme is highly regarded and will provide you with a rich learning experience in a specialist referral hospital, learning advanced skills in a positive and supportive environment. Of our previous interns, more than nine have become specialists or are currently in residencies, and others have taken up clinical University positions. Many of our rotating interns remain in stream specific programmes for a further 12 months.

We have two intern streams that are determined using a ballot system, so that we can prioritise according to your interest as much as possible.

The practice is in Osborne Park, a suburb 8km northwest of Perth’s CBD. The hospital has a wide range of surgical, medical and diagnostic tools including new state-of-the-art endoscopy, an imaging department with full cardiac and abdominal ultrasound capabilities, and on-site MRI and CT. We are home to the only Specialist Oncologists in the state.

Veterinary Associate or Veterinary Director - Greencross Butler, Perth
Located close to the beach, north of Perth's CBD, Greencross Vets Butler are seeking a new vet. We have both an associate and director role available. Those new to leadership will be supported and given the tools to succeed!
This role offers you real flexibility. You can choose to work from 2 days a week up to full time hours. There is no requirement for weekends, public holidays or after hours.
Ideally you would undertake both consulting and surgery; however, we can accommodate your preferences including tailoring the position to be consult only.
At Greencross Vets Butler we have 3 vets who are supported by 6 vet nurses. It is a young, vibrant and easy-going team. All staff pride themselves on being caring and hard-working.
This clinic is co-located with Petbarn. This allows for great cross-referral between the two businesses.
Working here you will enjoy our 4 consult rooms, ultrasound, dental facilities, Skyla and V-Check. Our vets usually work a 9.5 hour shift on weekdays. The days to be worked are negotiable.

At Chapman Animal Hospital we are a wonderful, friendly and dedicated team and we are looking for another full-time vet to join our staff. We work a 4-day week, every second Saturday and no after hours. We pride ourselves on our high level of veterinary care and customer service. Chapman Animal Hospital offers 4-consult rooms, a separate operating theatre, a spacious treatment room, indoor runs for dogs, a cat ward, an isolation ward and a separate x-ray suite.
