The Berwick Village Vet, South-East Melbourne (posted 21st June)
Mixed Role Senior nurse, Administration/Practice manager
P/T or F/T and I will consider splitting these roles (Clinical nursing or Admin focused) The Berwick Village Vet is growing and we need to transition into a clinic with more direction. For those interested a role is now available for a senior nurse with an interest in administration or practice management. We do need some clinical nursing shifts (rostered about 15 hours per week) and some Admin/managerial shifts (flexible for the most part but likely 15 plus hours per week).
For the clinical nursing we would like an experienced nurse, who is as comfortable in the surgery as they are on reception. We need a friendly demeanour with at least some sense of humour! The boss likes to crack himself up with dad jokes…
The admin/manager role would be divided into 3 outcomes;
Stability:
Maintaining and improving on what makes us a happy clinic. Rostering, HR, OHS are the behind the scenes focus. Team unity and cohesion, training and personal development are the more personalized areas that will need continued focus.
Improvement:
Moving on from Stability we want assistance with improvements to the clinic building, processes, procedures and protocols for both clinical performance, and business, financial and non-clinical performance.
Growth:
Making sure we continue to grow, with marketing and advertising, facebook, newsletter, signage, and other ways to spread the word. We have a marketing company we work with, but we need more from our end to maximise this.
So what do we need? A Certificate IV is an advantage. It is not crucial and experience will have as much weight as a Cert IV. Minimum 3 years nursing experience please. Maturity and life experience will be essential for this role. Any prior experience in managerial or administrative roles will be an advantage. So if this sounds like something you’d be interested in please contact us via email or on 9707 3855. I’m happy to chat about the role. Experienced Veterinary Nurse - Full Time
We pride ourselves on being an amazing support for our community. Dr Karen Davies, the owner is a local and takes great enjoyment in giving back. As our community has grown so has the clinic, since opening the doors in 2010 and we are looking for a bright and talented nurse to join us. Like all clinics we are passionate about what we do and how we do it, after all isn't that why we all come to work?
We love walking into the clinic of a morning, knowing the pets by name that are waiting in reception because they are regulars. Catching up with our longstanding team (of 5 members having been with us over 8 years) and new colleagues that have joined along the way. The variety in the day with the motto, “if you can get it here, then we can see it”, means that you might be hanging on to a huge Great Dane one minute and tickling a turtle the next.
We love that our clients think of US on RUOK Day and often bring in baked goodies and chocolates. We know we are appreciated for the great good that we do in educating our clients to provide the best of care that they can manage, without judgement. We love being there at the start and we are not afraid to cry with them at the end of their pets journey. But most of all we love when they come in with their next much loved pet, entrusting us again.
WE LOVE COMING TO WORK AND DOING OUR BEST EVERY DAY!
Why Choose Us?
- We foster growth and learning for our staff and clients
- We are flexible with full time and part time roles
- We love the variety in the pets we treat and the consistency in the care we provide
- Community is everything, with in the clinic and with our clients.
- Like all clinics we love toys and have dental radiography, a full suite of Idexx equipment, a ventilator for even the simple GAs, (because patient care and safety is our everything)
- Our nurses do stuff! Place the IV catheters, pull bloods, Stage 1 and 2 dentals, manage the anaesthetics - you will not be a wall flower at Direct Vets. If you have the skills we will put them to use in a way that creates value for you, the patients and the team.
- We have visiting specialists use our facilities for the local clientele.
- We see all kinds of pets for all kinds of people, Companion Pets including Exotics, wildlife, and provide the care for the strays at the local pound.
- We provide mentoring for veterinary and nursing students, growing the next generation to be as fabulous as you are.
We are looking for you if you are:
- Experienced: At least 3 years in veterinary nursing and can still find the joy in each day.
- Client-Focused: Excellent client interaction skills, can build rapport where the clients want to come back and see you.
- Efficient & Reliable: Organized and able to manage a daily caseload helping to keep the vets on track and great patient outcomes.
- Technically Skilled: Proficient with IV drips, blood collection, and running in house samples. You know, all the really important nursey things that make a great clinic great.
- A Team Player: High integrity and mentoring experience training and growing our junior nurses.
- Responsibilities: Join in consultations with vets. Lead nursing, with both medical and surgical duties. Handling admissions, discharges and post-op care, helping clients through the care requirements for their pet.
- Assisting with Xrays, both dental and digital.
- Performing Grade 1 & 2 dentals, including dental radiology.
- Managing anaesthetics from induction to extubation through to recovery, (with experience using ventilators a bonus and if not we can teach you).
- Mentoring trainee nurses, growing the next generation, creating the passion for them that keeps you in the profession.
What you won't do - RECEPTION is not on your radar. We already have an amazing team for that.
So now what?
This role is special and made just for you;
- If you are keen to practice the skills you have,
- Develop ones you would like to have,
- And want to bring others on the journey with you.
- If you love knowing first hand the loyal clients and their furry, feathered and scaley family members.
- If you have a sense of humour but also recognise the value in being able to debrief after the tough times.
- If you have the enthusiasm to be there from the start of a pets journey with us and the compassion needed at the end.
