Emergency and Critical Care specialists provide a trainee and residency program along with training and guidance opportunities for the emergency team members. The hospital also receives afterhours support from various specialist services to ensure optimal care and treatment plans for all animals.

Your New Role!

The key purpose of this role is to provide emergency veterinary services and ongoing care for companion animals (including exotics) in the Emergency and Critical Care section of The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University (TAHMU).

Your key responsibilities will include –

Diagnose and make therapeutic treatment recommendations on small companion animals.
Provide support and training to specialty trainees, students, visiting veterinarians and veterinary nurses in all aspects of emergency medicine and critical care.

About the role

We are looking for a small animal veterinarian who enjoys being part of a collaborative, supportive team and wants to contribute to the continued growth of our clinic.

Preferred hours are 8:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility available. There are no after-hours, Sundays or public holidays. Weekends are not required, however 1 in 4 weekends would be welcomed if you are open to this. The role includes 2–3 surgery days per week, with routine procedures expected to be well established.

Facilities include digital x-ray and dental x-ray, SignalPET radiology reporting, ultrasound with a visiting ultrasound vet, in-house IDEXX laboratory, heated surgery table, wet table, MMP surgery performed in-house, a visiting orthopaedic surgeon, Puppy Preschool, and access to some orthopaedic equipment.

We also have a special interest in Mandurah's local wildlife and work closely with rescue groups to care for sick and injured native animals, which is a rewarding part of our work.

We are looking for a PT to FT vet to join our 5-vet small animal independent hospital in Perth, Western Australia. This role would suit an experienced vet or a capable recent graduate.

Our accessory staff have dedicated roles, so you'll be supported by a team of receptionists as well as surgical nurses who all only focus on a single role meaning higher performance, less mistakes and more accountability.

We have just finished a major hospital redevelopment and now enjoy working in a professional and very comfortable workplace.

Our case load is large and varied which means you'll get to see a variety of complex medical cases which you are encouraged to work up and manage. We offer a comprehensive in house surgical list including TPLO and MPL correction, gastropexies and ophthalmic procedures.

The position requires around 29-38hrs hours weekly. Salary will be determined by your experience, technical skills, ability to communicate effectively with our staff and "read the room" with clients, willingness to apply yourself to both learning and then doing, time management & ability to generate income.

The role

EVH is seeking full time, part time or casual veterinarians both in Australia and internationally to join our team. When you come on-board, we provide on-the-job and external training to help you deliver excellent emergency and critical care to your patients. You will enjoy high-quality case workups and surgery, supported by patient care veterinarians, skilled nursing staff, and a residency-trained anaesthetist. As an independent practice, we avoid corporate bureaucracy and maintain a calm, drama-free working environment.

Our team is relatively small, making us dynamic, flexible, and cohesive. We work with a MERAKI philosophy: doing what you love, putting your soul into your work, and showing true dedication. Your opinions and suggestions genuinely matter here, and decision-making is fast and collaborative, unlike in large multi-disciplinary referral hospitals.

We are equipped with a high-resolution digital radiography unit, CBCT, inhouse IDEXX blood test machine, MSK ultrasound, Arthrex PRP system, and a fully equipped rehabilitation facility (underwater treadmill, shockwave, class IV laser, TENS/NMES, PEMF) with two certified rehabilitation veterinarians (CCRP and CCRT) and a dedicated rehabilitation nurse on site. We will have an anaesthesia and a surgery intern from 2027, as well as hospital patient care veterinarians and nurses. There are two surgical theatres (soft tissue and orthopaedic). Surgical toys include various staples, bipolar sealing device, Synthes and Kyon orthopaedic kits, interlocking nails, IMEX ESF (linear, circular and hybrid), in-theatre mini-fluoroscopy and arthroscopy. Our caseload is 60% orthopaedic, 30% soft tissue, and 10% spinal surgeries. Depending on your special interest, we are willing to expand our inventory, and further training can be provided for a right candidate. Several outsourced high-field MRI is available in Perth. They are generally good accommodating urgent and elective cases.

Due to the nature of surgery and rehabilitation specialty practice, we also offer lameness evaluation and sports medicine.

We provide surgical assessment, diagnosis and treatment for surrounding general practitioners. Over 70 general practices throughout Western Australia have referred cases to this practice since opening. We are collaborative with other specialist centres and we occasionally refer cases each other.

If you are interested in our practice, you are welcome to visit and spend some time with us. We encourage candidates to stay for at least a few days to get a genuine feel for the environment and decide whether it is the right fit. For suitable candidates, we may consider providing free accommodation and transport during the visit.

You will have 1 week study leave and financial support. We will provide relocation support. 4 weeks annual leave plus 1week CPD leave and decent allowance is standard. Remuneration is expected to be very high (minimum $250K pa for a full-time), depending on candidate’s experience plus 12% super.

You will have the opportunity to closely follow your patients throughout their rehabilitation, with ongoing monitoring built into our practice. Develop advanced anaesthesia skills - without sacrificing your weekends

Animalius Vet is growing, and we are looking for a motivated veterinarian to join our team in a role with a strong anaesthesia focus and a roster genuinely designed to support work–life balance.

Since opening in 2020, Animalius has grown into a thriving specialist referral hospital in Perth, providing advanced care across medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, dentistry and anaesthesia.

The Role

For four weeks of each six-week roster, you will provide anaesthesia support across the hospital, working alongside our specialists and experienced nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality care for a varied and interesting caseload.

This may include:

Developing and implementing anaesthetic plans for patients across surgery, imaging, dentistry and medicine
Induction, monitoring and recovery of patients undergoing advanced procedures
Managing complex and higher-risk anaesthetic cases
Gaining experience with anaesthesia ventilators and loco-regional techniques
Supporting high quality pain management and patient care throughout the perianaesthetic period
Contributing to daily rounds, case discussions and ongoing clinical learning

The remaining two weeks consist of:

One week of evening shifts, Monday to Thursday, from 3.30 pm to midnight
One week of overnight shifts, Monday to Thursday, from 11.30 pm to 8.00 am

Daytime weeks total 38 hours, while after-hours weeks total 32 hours.

Best of all, Animalius closes from Friday afternoon until Monday morning. That means no weekend shifts and protected time to rest, recharge and enjoy life outside work.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is comfortable with both consulting and surgery and has enough experience to work confidently and independently when required.

Routine soft-tissue surgery, desexing and dentistry should be comfortably within your skill set. If you enjoy more advanced surgery, we'd love to give you the opportunity to pursue it.

Likewise, an interest or experience in ultrasound would be very welcome.

But we're not simply looking for a collection of clinical skills.

We're looking for someone who works well with people.

Someone who enjoys being part of a team, contributes to it and respects the nurses, receptionists, vets and clients around them.

Someone who can ask for help when they need it and offer help when somebody else does.

Someone who takes ownership of their cases, communicates well and can also simply get on with the job.

You'll have experienced veterinary colleagues around you, good nursing ratios and a team that has been together long enough to know how to look after one another.

You'll have access to the equipment you'd expect to practise high-quality medicine and surgery, including digital radiography, modern dental radiography and ultrasound — but the equipment isn't really the point.

If a patient needs referral, we refer. If there's an area you'd like to develop, we'll help you develop it. If a course, conference or further study genuinely benefits you and the hospital, we're very open to supporting it.

We encourage Continuing Professional Development because we want our vets to keep growing — not because somebody needs to tick a box.

You'll also be trusted as an experienced professional. We don't believe good vets need somebody looking over their shoulder all day.

The practical stuff

We're looking at approximately 3–4 days per week, around 27–36 hours, although there's room for discussion for the right person.

Remuneration will be generous, paid hourly and commensurate with experience and proficiency, plus superannuation.

And while we take our medicine seriously, we don't take ourselves too seriously.

We work hard. We support each other. We have a laugh. We occasionally have difficult days, because veterinary medicine has difficult days — but we try very hard to make sure nobody has to carry those days alone.

We've built a hospital where people are given autonomy, but where that autonomy comes with a shared responsibility to our patients, our clients and each other.

We're not perfect.

But we have a cracking team of people who care about what they do, who keep each other accountable and who are genuinely trying to get a little better at it every year.

Western Australian Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (WAVES) Intern training program is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated veterinarian who is passionate about anaesthesia and analgesia.

This opportunity will provide you the setting to develop your knowledge base and technical abilities under the support and guidance of two American Boarded Specialist Veterinary Anaesthetists. Both recent graduates and more experienced veterinarians are encouraged to apply. This position would also be suitable for a veterinarian who is intending to obtain further training prior to attempting Australian & New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists Memberships in Anaesthesia and Analgesia. It is also a solid grounding for those intending to apply for a residency position in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, with three previous interns now in residency training programs.

WAVES is a multi-disciplinary small animal hospital offering a broad range of veterinary referral services including internal medicine, surgery, anaesthesia, imaging, dermatology, dentistry, and emergency. We have all the equipment you would expect for a referral practice and experienced nursing teams, and give the assurance of exceptional care to all our patients. Whilst the program is primarily in the field of Anaesthesia, as part of the program you will have the opportunity to undertake short rotations in emergency and critical care to develop skills in management of patients with emergent problems or are critically ill.

The Role

The position will entail ideally a minimum of 30 hours per week to ensure continuity of patient care and it will also incorporate after hours for an experienced vet. We do offer roster flexibility to accommodate both personal and family needs. You will be working with a dedicated, experienced team of nurses and vets.

Who We're Looking For

Qualifications: Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent) and registered (or eligible) with the WA Vet Surgeons Board.
You're confident, experienced, and work well on your own, happy to mentor juniors and ready for anything the clinic throws at you.
Happy to chip in for after-hours and Saturday shifts (we share them fairly), and help out at local events.
You're a great communicator, quick to pick things up, a solid team player, and genuinely excited about rural vet work.
Up for all aspects of rural mixed practice, keen to build new skills, and always ready to back your mates and advocate for your patients.
