It maintains a strong emphasis on the standard of patient and client care and is distinguished by the cooperative and complimentary involvement of specialist emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, neurology, and diagnostic imaging services.  The working environment is friendly and constructive, and the caseload moderated to allow emphasis on the quality, rather than the quantity, of patient care.

Existing diagnostic imaging facilities include digital radiography, Phillips Affinity 50G ultrasound, Siemens Somatom 16-slice CT and Phillips BV29 mobile C-arm fluoroscopy with digital subtraction angiography. Beyond this, there is a strong commitment to the continued expansion and advancement of on-site imaging facilities, with PACS system and digital radiography upgrades in process and future plans for high-field MRI installation.

The position

An opportunity exists for a specialist in diagnostic imaging who enjoys and values integration and positive interaction with specialists in other clinical fields with the intention of optimising patient management. This clinical exposure has the potential to be interesting and rewarding, and the direct involvement of the diagnostic imaging specialist in clinical problem solving is well established, welcomed, and well respected among existing staff of the hospital.

The position involves performing and providing reports for diagnostic ultrasound examinations, the ad hoc provision of diagnostic imaging advice and interpretation to facilitate case management within the hospital, responding to email enquiries from bona fide referring veterinarians for assessment of diagnostic images and, when possible, the provision of written reports for CT studies performed within the hospital.

Further to the clinical aspects of the role, the diagnostic imaging specialist is central in the provision of advice on the purchase and upgrade of diagnostic imaging equipment and the ongoing expansion of existing imaging services at CARE. Active involvement in the provision of staff continuing education and contribution to the maintenance of diagnostic imaging protocols would be expected.

The working hours of the position are flexible and negotiable, being either part or full time depending on the availability of the successful applicant, and do not typically involve after-hours work.  An attractive remuneration package would be negotiated, including four weeks’ annual leave and one week of study leave annually (full time pro-rata). Relocation assistance is available for successful interstate or international candidates.

Our enduring aim to exceed our client’s expectations requires a high level of customer service. Your skills with client communication and education will be a key attribute. We strongly value a healthy lifestyle as well as being great vets, so out-of-hours our clients are referred to the local emergency centre to let us all get a good rest and recharge.

We use a lot of modern technology in our client communication, education, and in-house patient care. Our practice software is Ezyvet, which integrates with Smartflow out the back, and our digital S8 book. We are working towards improving our environmental footprint, and have almost transitioned now to being paper-free, as well as improving our waste management.

WANTIRNA, EASTERN MELBOURNE - SMALL ANIMAL - NEW PREMISES

Hi I'm Dr Alison...

I have been a vet for a loooong time (a lady never divulges her age!).
I have owned and operated Wantirna Vet clinic for 22 years of that loooong time....
And dedicated every fibre of my being to helping create an extraordinary life for all animals and their people...
From domestic pets, birds, rabbits and guinea pigs through to our Australian native wildlife...
I believe if we can improve their lives just a wee bit, then that’s a job well done!

But after a looong career I found myself at a crossroads...
Should I start to slow down...?
Or, should I double down?

After much thought and with the support of my superb team I chose to double down and embark on a new adventure...
We are only a couple of months away from moving into our brand new purpose built hospital just up the road!
And this means we have the space for a new Vet to join us and share our passion!

So what does being a part of the team look like...?
A few years ago, one of our nurses captured who we are very simply...
"Kind hearts and gentle hands"
We live by our values of honesty and integrity, passion and compassion and kindness and respect...
We know we are doing a great job when the client ask "what would you do if this were your pet?"
And trust our recommendations because we genuinely and passionately treat every animal as if they were exactly that...
OURS!
Our new hospital will have all the bells and whistles...
But what REALLY matters is how well you become a part of and add value to the special family that is Wantirna Vet Clinic.

This is a full time position and would be best suited to someone with some experience.
If you believe you have a kind heart and gentle hands...
If you believe you could fit in our team...
If you want to join us in our new adventure then let's have a chat...

You can reach me on accounts@wantirnavetclinic.com
I'm pretty busy but will always get back to you...
And if its something worth exploring for both of us we can go from there.

WESTERN SUBURBS MELBOURNE - EQUINE PRACTICE sponsorship available

Western Equine Veterinary Services are seeking a part time senior associate, or full time junior associate to join our team in the western suburbs of Melbourne.

We are a predominantly equine practice servicing Melbourne’s west for over 50 years. We have a varied caseload including standardbred and some thoroughbred racetrack practice, polo, pleasure/performance horse care, reproduction, and a small amount of hobby farm / small animal care. Our primary base/office is within a small animal clinic in Werribee from which we service an approximate 50km radius W/NW/SW of us. We also have a purpose built facility on 3 acres in Werribee South, near the Werribee Park Equestrian Centre, where we offer some in patient and reproductive services.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We have all the necessary equipment for elite level mobile equine practice – including cordless digital xray, ultrasound, endoscope, power dental floats, and K-Laser PBMT.  We use modern mobile cloud based practice management software - ezyvet. If specialised diagnostics and/or treatment is required we work very closely with the University of Melbourne Equine Centre, located just 2km from our office. We also receive referrals back from the hospital to our Werribee South facilities for post surgical rehab and on going case management.

Our location offers a great lifestyle balance. Being just 25 minutes drive from the Melbourne cbd we have the advantage of being able to live in the city’s inner suburbs (and reap all the cultural/lifestyle benefits of this) whilst escaping the city to do our work. We pride ourselves on managing client expectations and select the work we do carefully to not put unachievable/unsustainable workloads on our staff. We also limit our service to a small radius so we are not driving excessive distances.

The position available is for an ambulatory veterinarian.
