So I get to see some of the most spectacular landscapes in Australia (which incidentally are changing all the time too!)...

And all my clients greet me as an old friend...

I just love what I do!

And now I'm looking for a fourth vet to love it as much as I do!

MUNDUBBERA, NORTH BURNETT - MIXED

TRUE MIXED PRACTICE JOB OPPORTUNITY

Monto Vet Group operates are 5 vet mixed practice across two locations in the North Burnett: Monto & Mundubbera. We require a mixed veterinarian to be based at our Mundubbera clinic to provide care for small animals, cattle and equine. This position would suit an experienced or recent graduate that is keen to lead the small animal medicine and surgery cases in our practice but also happy to attend some large animal cases. We are 50% large animal and 50% small animal but we can modify this role to suit your needs and the percentage work load that you are looking for.

We are a team of motivated, passionate vets and nurses that care about each other, our client’s and their pets as well as our client’s livestock businesses and their bottom line. We have become part of our clients families and businesses.

Across our two practices, we service 12 small towns in the North Burnett and Callide Valley regions. Our small animal workload is full of interesting medical and surgical cases and we perform orthopaedic surgery and canine reproduction services in house. We provide lots of on farm services and each vet has their own fully equipped car with inverter and fridge drawer. Our large animal work includes a variety of beef cattle commercial and seed stock stud enterprises, small scale feedlots, performance horse studs and during the equine breeding season we operate a small on farm equine breeding centre where there is plenty of opportunity to fine tune your skills in semen collection and processing as well as chilled and frozen artificial insemination of mares.

We are well equipped with all the modern bells and whistles of mixed practice equipment: digital radiography, sonosite portable ultrasound, in house blood testing, IM3, portable vet crush, dental gear, BCF easiscan curve, electro ejaculators, ET & semen collection equipment and loads more. But if there is anything that we don't have, that you want, and can justify, we will buy it for you.

An Amazing Part of the Country: Mundubbera is the “citrus capital of QLD” centrally located being only 2 hours drive from the beach and 4 hours drive to Brisbane. Daily flights to Brisbane are only a stone throw away. We have our own Cania gorge and Wuruma dam for those who like fishing, camping, bushwalking and water skiing, not to mention campdrafting, polo x and rodeos for the equine enthusiasts. We have many of the conveniences of a large rural centre but the “old fashioned values” of a small community and it won’t be long before you will feel like a celebrity walking up the main street of town.

The successful candidate will be:

Pay is relative to the value and enthusiasm you bring – being well above award. A vet with three years or more experience can expect a salary package of $90 000 - $130 000. A fully fitted out work vehicle and mobile phone are provided. Ideally an 8 or 9 day fortnight (we don’t open on weekends), but we are flexible with rosters and working hours- just ask and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Afterhours will be 1:5 weekends, 4 weeks annual leave and 1 week study leave. We pay your AVA membership and contribute $1000 to conference costs for CVE. We strongly encourage attendance at seminars, workshops and annual conferences to help you network with colleagues and explore your special interests. We will also assist with relocation expenses. We have a very supportive team and have daily “team huddles”, weekly team meetings and 6 monthly performance reviews.

Our business is built on a personal, professional and caring service and we are looking for a vet that is bursting at the seams to ‘get involved’ and really wants to help us make a difference with a modern approach to herd health and animal care. If you have the drive and desire to be part of our high achieving team, please call us now- (07) 4166 1285 or email: monto@montovet.com.au.

WARWICK, SOUTH DARLING DOWNS - MIXED New Graduates welcome

Mixed Practice Veterinarian Positions Available – Warwick, QLD

Warwick Town and Country Vets is a well-established privately owned clinic, currently seeking to employ 2 mixed practice veterinarians.  The position is very flexible and can either be full/part-time or casual.  Experienced veterinarians, and or new or recent graduates will be considered for the positions with continued support and mentoring provided.

We are a small but dedicated team of 2 vets and 4 nurses, and we pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service and practicing a high quality of veterinary medicine and surgery to our friendly and loyal clientele.  You will be working in a friendly and relaxed environment with an experienced team of supportive staff.  The clinic has a mix of approximately 80% small animals and 20% large animals (horses, cattle, sheep and goats).

Our veterinary hospital is equipped with modern technology including a digital x-ray machine, an ultrasound, a dental x-ray machine and im3 dental unit.  We run Vision software which integrates with our in house IDEXX laboratory which consists of a lasercyte, catalyst one, coag analyser, vetlab urinalysis and microscopes.  We have multiple fluid pumps for hospital and surgery patients.  We have 2 anaesthetic machines and monitoring equipment.  We have a power float for equine dentals.

Our clinic hours are 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturday and 9am to 12pm Sunday, and we provide an afterhours emergency service at all other times.  Since extending our opening hours it has greatly reduced our afterhours work, but in saying that, it is still required as the nearest emergency centres are over an hour away. We do take some of the stress out of being the vet on call by having a great team of very experienced nurses who are on call with you, but most importantly they take and answer the afterhours phone which means that you will only get a call from the afterhours nurse if they need further advice or in an event of a true emergency. A work car is provided for on call use.

We have always been supportive of a great work-life balance and think that this is essential for a rewarding career in this profession; therefore, our rosters and hours are very flexible.  You may like to work 2 days a week or 5 days a week or even just 1 week a month.  Salary will be upwards of $120000pa + super depending on experience and the number of hours you choose to work (based on 40-hour week).  An additional bonus will be paid after the initial 3 months once you decide that this is the job for you.  You will be given 1 weeks paid study leave and $5000 to spend on continuing education in addition to 4 weeks holiday leave each year.

WARWICK, SOUTHERN DARLING DOWNS - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Small Animal Veterinarian WARWICK, Qld
CONDAMINE VETERINARY CLINIC

Amazing opportunity close to Brisbane, yet far enough away to enjoy the country life.

We feel this is the best small animal position available outside the major cities in Australia. Warwick is a small town which has great facilities and is close to Brisbane, Toowoomba and the Gold Coast. The population of 13,500 is supported by excellent schools, medical and sporting facilities, 24 hour gyms and a growing cafe and artistic culture. Warwick is nestled on the attractive farmland of Queensland’s Darling Downs and there is close access to walking trails at the many nearby National Parks. There is a secure dog park situated alongside the picturesque Condamine River walk and a range of horse sports are active in the area. This is a fantastic place to raise a family and an affordable, relaxing place to live.

What really sets us apart is our boutique style practice with great staff and clientele; excellent facilities and equipment.

Please click here to see photos! photos

Preference will be given to an experienced vet who wishes to practice at the highest level possible outside of large referral centres. We need someone who has the knowledge and ability to handle cases well, work independently, develop the practice and look after our loyal clients and their pets as they would want their family looked after.

We know that there are some veterinarians who don’t know the obvious benefits of country living so to encourage them to look outside the square and embrace a tree-change we are offering a salary well above the award. This is an ideal position for an experienced veterinarian who would like to establish themselves in a growing small animal practice with the desire to have a long term future in the practice. However, it is also a very supportive practice, and we would be enthusiastic to mentor a new or recent graduate.

Condamine Veterinary Clinic is a growing practice where we care for our clients and their pets even better than we would expect someone to care for us and our pets. Our first priority is always to our staff who are the foundation of our 10 year old purpose-built small animal clinic and we all take pride in practising an excellent standard of medicine and surgery. Our clients are warm and friendly and our staff are all enthusiastic to develop both professionally and personally. We have a well-equipped (including digital radiography, ultrasound, 2 Stinger anaesthetic machines with monitors, iM3 dental unit and dental radiography, in-house Idexx laboratory, orthopaedic instruments, Vet’s Choice heated cages), relaxing yet professional work environment and a supportive and courteous culture based on good work ethic, communication and education.

Condamine Vets is a growing 3 veterinarian small animal clinic and we are looking for an assistant who would love the challenge of joining with us while we progress to the next stage. Equine and some large animal cases are all referred to our sister practice, Warwick Equine Vets, which allows for a sharing of knowledge and experience between the 2 practices when needed. This opens up the potential for some large animal practice if the successful candidate desired this.

Our clinic hours are 8-5pm Monday- Friday and 8.30-11 am Saturday. We do provide an emergency service outside of these hours which is shared within the practice. A full-time position including 4 weeks holidays and 1 week conference leave is preferred however conditions are negotiable.

EAST BUNDABERG, WIDE BAY BURNETT REGION - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

East Bundaberg Veterinary Hospital - Veterinarian required

Position for a motivated veterinarian who wants to work in a comfortable well-equipped air-conditioned purpose-built small animal veterinary hospital being supported by well trained and caring nursing staff as well as extensively experienced and qualified veterinarians.

We would encourage both experienced veterinarians and new graduate veterinarians to apply for this position.

We are a 3-veterinarian business wanting to expand. We enjoy a friendly relationship with our clients, and we have an exceptional reputation for excellence and for results. Our workload revolves around dogs (70%), cats (25%) and avian (5%).

We are NOT a corporate business, we are privately owned and operated. Our primary role is to assist animals in their journey of life as well as making sure we enjoy our professional life and balance it with time away from the business.

We believe that to offer a high level of animal care we must have the time to discuss problems with the owners as well as time to examine the patient and time to do appropriate tests or treatments and discuss the outcomes with the owners. Consequently, we do not “pump through” our clientele and their furry friends.

We believe coming to work must be enjoyable for all staff members and we encourage each member of the staff to achieve the level of expertise and comfort that they have set for themselves. We encourage further education for all our veterinary staff and that includes conference leave (when we can get to conferences) every year, webinars, seminars, discussion between vets, membership to organisations such as the AVA and VIN and extensive library material both on computers and well as books and journals.

We hold staff meetings every week and we have a vet meeting every morning before work where any problems or queries can be discussed and (hopefully) solutions found. We have active participation in our puppy preschool as well as dog walks every month and puppy reunions every 3 months.

Veterinary Science, to us, is a way of life and we are looking for that caring qualified person who wants to join our team and develop their professional and personal skills to a high level.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We could go on and on about the equipment and the hospital itself, we could go on and on about Bundaberg and the surrounding areas with all its facilities. But you can get all the information you need by going onto the internet at our site www.eastbundabergvet.com.au or www.bundabergregion.org or you could open up Facebook and look at our site or the Bundaberg tourism site.

What are we offering to do for the successful applicant?

  1. This is a full-time position.
  2. Half Day off each week
  3. 6 weeks holiday every year.
  4. 1 week conference leave every year.
  5. After working on a weekend, our vets get a 4-day break on the following weekend
  6. All afterhours is on a rotational basis with other full-time staff members (we have a very low level of afterhour calls)
  7. Monetary assistance with relocation and 1st year rent – to be negotiated with successful applicant.
  8. Constant support (including in afterhour work) if required (depends on level of experience, expertise and the level of confidence in the successful applicant)
  9. Pay an “above award” wage in the 3-month trial period (wage starts at $80,000.00 for new graduate or 1st year graduate and goes up according to experience) and then negotiate a wage that is commensurate with your experience and expertise once the trial period is over.

What do we want in return?

  1. Enthusiasm for health and wellbeing of our patients
  2. Enthusiasm for successful outcomes to treatments as well as preventions
  3. Enthusiasm for profession and ongoing education
  4. Enthusiasm for the ongoing success of the business
  5. Enthusiasm to work in a team.
  6. Sense of humour and have the ability to laugh at oneself.

  8. Have an open mind with new ideas and new concepts of animal health care.
  9. Ability to leave your ego at the door when you enter.

LONGREACH, CENTRAL QLD - MIXED PRACTICE New Graduates welcome

Longreach Veterinary Service is seeking either an experienced or new-grad vet to join our growing team. LVS is a true mixed rural practice, servicing not only the companion, pastoral and equine clients, but also the extensive Northern Australian beef industry.

The clinic is a well-equipped mixed practice, with all the current diagnostic imaging and surgical equipment that is needed to service the wide variety of small and large animal caseloads. The relative isolation of LVS allows the opportunity for thorough medical and surgical work-up of cases which may not be possible if referral centres were closer. This being said, the client base is generally willing to consider referrals when advised.

Extensive work with both the pastoral and horse industries allows vets to pursue personal interests. This includes large-scale beef cattle production and herd-health (including pregnancy testing both manual and with ultrasound, bull testing and general herd health/disease consultation), and equine work (including seasonal repro work, ambulatory cases, surgery, colic’s, medicine cases, and extensive country race work).

Exposure to the extensive North Australian beef industry across the NT may be available to willing members of the team (season and work load permitting). This includes involvement with several corporate beef companies assisting with herd management, extensive pregnancy and bull testing.

Longreach is true western QLD town, with an excellent culture, atmosphere and opportunities. There are numerous sporting and social activities, daily flights to Brisbane and Townsville allows for a serve of urban culture when needed. Jumping straight into the deep end of activities in town is encouraged, with involvement with both the sporting AND social scenes is paramount to a healthy work-life balance!

Please click here to see photos! photos

Remuneration and associated package are negotiable; this includes a wage well above the award depending on experience ($70-$110k). Short term assistance with accommodation, shared afterhours (generally quite a manageable afterhours work load), relevant RDO’s, 4 weeks’ holiday leave plus 1 week assisted study leave annually. A well-equipped clinic car is available plus a fully paid equine dental course at EVDS*.

The only compulsory requirement of the successful applicant is to be willing to roll their sleeves up and jump straight into the supportive team environment we can offer. Team is the key word at LVS, with the new vet hopefully willing to fit into this and help expand and develop the clinic and services we provide.

Please email your resume and cover letter to the practice manager (ATTN: Courtney) longvet@gmail.com or alternatively call the clinic on 07 4658 3838 with any questions.

Do you believe that work should be fun?

8

Do you enjoy the rewarding sensation when you know you have done the little things that exceed your clients expectations?

9

Do you want to know, with absolute confidence, that when you arrive at work, you will be met by a bright and cheerful team?

10

Do you believe that life is short, and you need to enjoy work, and love the team you work with?

11

Do you want to work in an exclusively small animal practice?

12

Do you want to be minimally affected by after hours work?

If you have answered yes to at least nine out of those twelve questions, then I think it is worth calling to have a discussion with me. If not, then it probably does not make sense to apply.

Some further details are as follows. The practice is located in Stanthorpe, on the Granite Belt in Queensland. We are essentially a two full time vet equivalent practice, however the work is currently spread across three vets, and we are currently looking for a fourth vet. Our aim is to further increase our flexibility, and to provide some room in our team for further growth of the business.

Please click here to see photos! photos

As such, the hours required are very flexible and this aspect is open to discussion.

When you’re not at work, Stanthorpe offers stunning scenery, beautiful national parks and a multitude of wineries to enjoy. Stanthorpe boasts all the benefits of living in Queensland, without the heat and humidity. If you would like to see more of what Stanthorpe living has to offer, take a look at this video

If you are the right person for this position, then this is a fantastic opportunity for you, but don’t take my word for it, this is what one of our team has to say…

"SDVS is a really great place to work. We have a fun and talented team, and lots of up-to-date equipment (with new gear being purchased all the time) so coming to work each day is really enjoyable! We are constantly trying to improve ourselves as a team, so there is no chance of stagnating in our careers.” Dr Julia Dowsett (Winner of the prestigious Lincoln Institute Young Leaders Award 2019)

MOUNT ISA - SMALL ANIMALS New Graduates welcome

PERMANENT FULL-TIME SMALL ANIMAL VETERINARIAN

Come and experience life in the Outback!

Mount Isa is affectionately known as the oasis of the outback. Founded as a frontier mining town in the early 1920s, Mount Isa is now the largest city in Queensland’s western interior and one of Australia’s major outback centres, blending the charm and laid-back feel of the country with the convenience of city life. Mount Isa has many young professionals in the area, numerous sporting groups such as Netball, Rugby League, AFL, Soccer, Hockey, and a number of camping and 4WD spots if you are up for adventure.

Mount Isa Veterinary Surgery has been providing compassionate and continuing care for small animals of all descriptions, including the pets of Mount Isa families, for the past 46 years: the clinic is fortunate to have a loyal and friendly clientele.

We require a caring and dedicated full-time small animal veterinarian to join our close-knit team. This position is open to both experienced and graduate vets.

The surgery is purpose-built with all the mod cons such as digital x-ray, video endoscopy, an iM3 dental unit, Idexx in-house blood analysers, microscopy with recording capabilities to name a few. It is a busy but relaxed environment, and you will experience an interesting and varied case load as the nearest referral hospital is a considerable distance away. Our team consists of two senior veterinarians, a receptionist and three vet nurses. The MIVS team’s involvement with the hardworking local pet rescue organization is a very rewarding experience.

Mount Isa Veterinary Surgery is about to embark on a project with a Queensland University. This is your opportunity to be in on this exciting research.

If you are interested in joining the MIVS team or would like to know more, please contact Gillian on 0439 710 513 or email your resume to gtenni@mivetsurgery.com.au.  Travel and accommodation for interviews will be funded for serious applicants.

MOUNT ISA, GULF REGION - MIXED OR SMALL ANIMAL ONLY POSITION New Graduates welcomeNew Position

Copper City Vet Clinic is a practice in Mount Isa that has been up and running for around 13 years now with a good strong loyal client base. This practice was built from the ground up by the current owner.

Currently the clinic is running with a single vet but for many years we have operated with 2 vets with the potential to take on more... there is plenty of work however there are only so many hours in a day

The clinic has 3 exceptional loyal and committed support staff who love their jobs - one fully qualified nurse who's taking on some of the practice management aspects also, one nurse whose part way through her cert 4 and a school-based apprentice who's graduating shortly and moving onto her cert 4 training.

The position being offered is somewhat unique, in that it can accommodate either a single vet with experience or a vet team (maybe husband and wife duo) looking after the clinic and running their own show essentially, there is so much potential here without the stress of the big cities, the owner and current sole vet is looking to work only school hours to accommodate the needs of a young family.

Mount Isa is remote but has a lot to offer - for a start we have been 100% covid free which would have to be a selling factor!!! It’s a very laid-back town with plenty of surplus income and a friendly place with excellent sporting and recreation facilities, stunning scenery, and good transport links to major cities.

Being remote we are fortunate that we get a lot of exciting cases to enhance our knowledge and experience without necessarily referring as happens in the cities.

Please click here to see photos! photos

If you have a can-do attitude and a willingness to pitch in and have a go then this is a great place to work and upskill.

The clinic currently does Zero out of hours and accommodation can be provided as part of the salary package.

Whilst the owner has a strong interest in equine aspects the clinic is able to run as a 100% small animal practice so the position would suit either SA only applicants or mixed SA/ Equine.

Recent graduates are welcome to apply if they have experience of sole charge work. Salary will be commensurate with experience and the package can be discussed with individual applicants.

For more information, please email coppercityvetclinic@gmail.com
