SUMMER HILL, INNER WEST SYDNEY - SMALL ANIMAL
🐾 Veterinarian Wanted | Summer Hill Village Vet (Inner West Sydney)
Full-time (4 weekday + every 2nd Saturday) or part-time role (2-3 weekdays + every second Saturday) | No Sundays or after-hours
Is this the vet job you’ve been hoping exists (but figured didn’t)?
📍 You’re not just after a job—you want a team that has your back, a clinic that gives you space to grow, and a roster that lets you have a life outside of work.
🎯 Maybe you’re 1–5 years out and want to be mentored but not micromanaged.
🧠 Maybe you’re tired of clinics that talk about “standards” but don’t back it up with training, time, or teamwork.
🎨 Maybe you want a place with character and quirk, not fluorescent lights and burnout.
Let us introduce ourselves.
🌿 About Us
We’re Summer Hill Village Vet, a proudly independent clinic in Sydney’s Inner West, known for our kind medicine, loyal clients, and whip-smart, funny, big-hearted team. We’re vet-owned and vet-run—and we’ve built something a bit special.
Our culture?
Think zero ego, all-in support, loud laughter, nurse-led consults, snacks in the tea room, and every second Saturday off. We’re not a factory, we don’t tolerate toxicity, and we really care about doing the right thing—for our patients, our clients, and each other.
Please click here to see photos!
💡 What You’ll Get (That Most Ads Don’t Talk About)
- Mentorship in what you want to grow (dentals, imaging, medicine, soft tissue surgery—bring your goals, we’ll match you with mentors and CPD support)
- A “no Sundays ever” policy (we mean it)
- A 4-day week + every second Saturday (you’ll be paid for 76 hrs/fortnight, rostered for 74, because you deserve buffer) (we close at 2pm Saturdays!)
- Dedicated consult nurse in most appointments (so you can vet without juggling 6 things)
- Rostered admin time—every shift (because writing up notes in your car is not the vibe)
- Psychological safety & leadership coaching (yep, that’s a thing here)
- Pay that reflects your value: Commensurate with experience + super + CPD + VIN + extras, based on how you contribute (not just how many years you’ve clocked) - negotiable
- Clientele who trust us and are willing to go the distance for their pets
- Nurses who are gun triagers, note takers, and theatre support
🧬 A Bit About the Role
This is a mixed consulting + surgery position. We’d love full-time (4 weekdays and every second Saturday), but are happy to consider part-time (2-3 weekdays and every second Saturday) for the right person. There’s no after-hours, and shifts fall between 7.30am–8pm with early or late starts—not both. You’ll work alongside a team of experienced vets, visiting specialists, and career nurses. Our support staff ratio is genuinely high, and our case management is collaborative, not territorial.
💭 Who You Might Be
- A vet with at least 2 years’ experience who’s ready to learn more (recent grads may be considered depending on experience/skill level)
- You enjoy building relationships with clients and can communicate with both warmth and clarity
- You value a bit of structure, but don’t want your style crammed into someone else’s protocol
- You’re team-oriented, self-aware, and interested in medicine that’s both kind and excellent
- You’re curious, motivated, and not afraid to laugh mid-consult (we all do)
💌 Ready to Apply?
Email Dr Sandra Hodgins at sandra_hodgins@mac.com
Include your CV and a short note about what you’re looking for in your next role.
We’ll keep this role open until we find the right fit—and we’ll respect your notice periodif you’re currently employed.
🐕 Final Word
This is a job ad that actually reflects the vibe of our clinic. If you’ve read this far and felt your shoulders relax, your heart lift, or your curiosity spark—we’d love to meet you.

LITHGOW, BLUE MOUNTAINS - SMALL ANIMAL
Feeling like you need a change...?
Do you want to enjoy flexible hours, no after hours and be paid what you’re worth...??
Bored with doing notes, invoicing, and talking about the same stuff day in, day out…?
Wish you could work where you feel appreciated, do what you love to do, have a lunch break, and finish on time?
Well, read on. I’m Michelle, and I am the Owner of Lithgow Veterinary Hospital – a small animal clinic nestled at the base of the breathtaking Blue Mountains.

I love that most of our clients greet me as an old friend and that we still have that family feel...
And I still love what I do!
Now, I'm seeking a new team member to join our already fabulous crew.
You would be perfect for the role if:

- You're excited by the prospect of personal growth and improvement in a supportive team.
- You view mistakes as valuable feedback rather than failures and can share a laugh along the way.
- You possess a genuine love for people as much as you do for animals.

Important details:
- Enjoy the flexibility of choosing your hours – whether you prefer casual, part-time, or full-time work.
- We offer generous flexibility to pursue your dreams – accommodating school hours, partners' schedules, or even your pet's favourite walk times!
- No After Hours or weekend shifts – your time outside of work is truly your own. However, we're a social bunch, so feel free to join us for trivia nights, drinks, and snacks at the Blue Fox or any other events on our social calendar.
- Focus on what you love most – whether it's consulting, surgery, or dentistry. You don't have to be an all-rounder to fit into our team. If you never want to spay a dog again, we understand!
- No pressure to handle exotics, birds, or wildlife – unless, of course, you're passionate about it.
- We're committed to your professional development and offer generous remuneration, a substantial continuing education allowance, and support both within and outside of work.
If what you've read has piqued your interest...
And you're eager to learn more...
Let's arrange for a chat. Text me on 0403 565 705 or email mjmon1@yahoo.com.au, and we can take it from there. I look forward to connecting with you.
