EASTERN WAIKATO - MORRINSVILLE - MIXED / DAIRY

Experienced Mixed / Large Animal Veterinarian - Morrinsville

We are Veterinary Clinic Morrinsville. Our clients trust us to look after all creatures large and small: from dogs to dairy cows, unique NZ wildlife and everything in between. We're progressive veterinarians involved in some of the most critical support of NZ's important agricultural industry.
And we always have time for the animals that are part of our client's family too.

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Mixed Animal / Dairy Cattle Veterinarian to join our Morrinsville team on a permanent basis.

Morrinsville is a town in the Eastern Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. The district is one of the most fertile farming regions in New Zealand. Extensive natural features create an environment where outdoor activities are readily accessible to residents and visitors. The forest-clad hills of the Kaimai Ranges and Te Miro Forest Park are ideal for walking and mountain biking, and the district offers many opportunities for camping, kayaking, picnicking and other activities. Matamata-Piako is also within easy driving distance to great skiing and to New Zealand’s most popular surf and swimming beaches.

There’s all the benefits of living in a small town, such as safe communities, free parking and no traffic lights, but it's only 20 minutes to the city of Hamilton to enjoy the city life. World famous Hobbiton is 30 minutes away. Many of the best beaches in New Zealand are just an hour away, as is the playground of Rotorua. Auckland is 90 minutes away and it is a couple of hours to the ski fields - why wouldn't you want to work in such a central district with so much to offer?

About us:
As part of the wide VetNZ group, Veterinary Clinic Morrinsville can also offer opportunities to work in clinics elsewhere within New Zealand and share knowledge and resources. We are a progressive animal health business seen as a leader in its field, with clinics based throughout Southland and West Otago and clinics in Hokitika and Greymouth on the West Coast operating as West Coast Vets.

What we offer:

We recognise that our people are our greatest asset and we work hard at keeping them passionate and enthusiastic about what they do. Being a vet should be a challenging and enjoyable experience, and we can provide you with opportunities to develop your interests.

Just important as what we do, is how we do it. So we value our team loving what they do, making sure we get the job done right, always being one step ahead, and no matter who they are, they are always in it together.

If you would enjoy a role that provides you with variety, a great team environment and plenty of support, then please apply via the link below!

AUCKLAND - EQUINE ROTATING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Internship January 2022

Veterinary Associates Equine is seeking applicants for our rotating internship program. We offer three staggered yearlong positions that traditionally commence in January and June.

Vet Associates is a full-service equine ambulatory and referral practice based in Karaka, South Auckland, with a satellite practice in Kumeu, West Auckland. Veterinarians on staff at the Vet Associates Equine Hospital in Karaka include two board-certified surgeons, a board-certified internist, and a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Medicine. The specialists are readily available to provide backup and support for all members of the practice. The practice is heavily involved in all types of equine pursuits, including sport horses, Thoroughbred racehorses, Standardbred racehorses, and pleasure horses, providing a tremendous variety of work.

The interns are based in Karaka and rotate weekly through the medicine, surgery, and ambulatory departments. They share on-call responsibilities, which includes assisting with emergency hospital admissions and the care of hospital patients. In addition, as the interns’ clinical skills develop, they will be responsible for primary ambulatory emergency duty on a rotating schedule with the ambulatory vets. Mentorship and support are important components of our program. The interns will be given a broad-reaching education and will be provided the skills to become exemplary equine veterinarians. The program is designed such that the interns, upon completion of the program, are prepared to enter directly into a position in a private practice setting or as applicants into a residency program.

The work environment is attractive; our custom-built hospital is well equipped with the latest equine medical technology. This includes a fully equipped surgical suite, dynamic endoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasonography, dentistry gear, IRAP, PRP, a stem cell culture facility, and an in-house diagnostic laboratory.

New Zealand is renowned for the great outdoors, and our local area is no exception. We have beautiful beaches, surf, fishing, forest and bush walks, and great local schools. Being on the outskirts of a large city, there are many restaurants, and city culture is a short drive away. Many of our staff are involved in equestrian sports, including popular local hunts, show jumping, pony club, racing, and polo. This is a great opportunity to join the dedicated, enthusiastic, happy Vet Associates Equine family and to be part of our growing practice in beautiful New Zealand!

Students in their final year of study along with recent graduates, including those working in mixed practice, are encouraged to apply. Applicants need to be eligible for full veterinary licensure in New Zealand (details available at https://www.vetcouncil.org.nz/Web/Veterinarians/Registration.aspx). Applications should include a cover letter, a CV, and the names of three references. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged.

We do not do any “after hours” but we are open 7 days a week. The position would involve some weekend work , but that is shared between all vets.

Hours would be 20 to 40 each week. This is adjustable if the locum is wanting to travel and see local attractions. More hours are available for those who want work the 5 or more days each week.

We live in a fabulous part of Auckland City. We are close to the city, but the area has a village like feel. Transport is excellent with road and rail links.

The time frame is negotiable.

For permanent Veterinarians the Annual Practicing Certificate, VIN membership and a salary percentage towards continuing education and training is included in the salary package. We also have regular in clinic training for all staff, with “guest” teachers.

Accommodation can be organised.
