About the Role:

This is a newly created role, within SASH, due to the expansion of the hospital and anaesthesia service. We are looking for two nurses to join our Anaesthetists in supporting and providing excellent patient care.

The role will require you to work closely with our current anaesthesia team, supporting all departments across the hospital including Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Emergency and Critical Care, Radiology and Oncology. Our ideal candidate will obviously have strong anaesthesia skills but also robust communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across multidisciplinary teams and the ability to see a case through from beginning to end.

You will be responsible for the creating sedation and General Anaesthesia (GA) plans for patients, monitoring GA patients for surgery, imaging and other medical procedures and the recovery of patients post GA. You will be require required to assist with equipment maintenance, cleaning and care including stock control of medical gases. There will also be a training element to this role, supporting other nurses at SASH to strengthen their anaesthesia skills across the hospital. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Need to be flexible and deal with last minute changes.

The successful candidates in this role will be required to work over a 7 day rotating roster between the hours of 6am to 9pm. You will come under the umbrella of the Theatre Nurse Unit Manager, however, on a day-to-day basis, your patient care case load will be guided and directed by the Anaesthetists.

There will also be the need to be able to step in and do the less glamorous jobs where required - cleaning cages, vacuuming and moping floors, doing washing, cleaning staff bathrooms etc. 

The position would be full time, with an average of 34 - 38 hours per week, with flexible work hours.
