About Us
Founded in September 2022, GARS is a privately owned, multidisciplinary, small animal referral hospital. The hospital is staffed 24/7 with onsite specialists in surgery, internal medicine, emergency critical care and diagnostic imaging with support from Oncology and Anaesthesia. Each of our departments include specialists, registrars, residents, department specific interns, rotating interns and a team of outstanding specialised nurses all pulling together.
The GARS vision is to be Victoria's leading referral centre. Extending beyond our first-class facility, we are dedicated to recruiting like-minded, team players to help achieve this goal. The hospital is new and purpose-built. It is surrounded by beautiful greenspaces, overlooking the Barwon River, Balyang sanctuary and Balyang Golf course. The facility is packed with state-of-the-art equipment, some of which includes; onsite MRI, CT, C-arm Video Fluoroscopy, Endoscopy, Ultrasound, DR radiography, multiparameter patient monitoring, mechanical ventilators, ECG, blood gas/electrolyte, coagulation, haematology and biochemistry machines.
Department specific equipment is extremely comprehensive, permitting investigation and treatment of a huge array of conditions, contributing to an excellent training environment.

About the area
GARS overlooks the Balyang Golf Course and Barwon River with bike and walking paths right on our front doorstep. The popular cafes, restaurants and bars of Pakington street and Geelong CBD are only several minutes away. The outstanding wineries and distilleries of the Bellarine peninsula and beautiful beaches of Torquay Surf Coast and the famous Great Ocean Road are less than 25minutes away. Transport links are excellent, with the South Geelong train station less than 3kms from the hospital, the Spirit of Tasmania Ferry, Avalon and Melbourne International Airports, 15, 25 and 60 minutes from the hospital. Position details
- Structured, three-year training program under the tutelage of a diverse group of specialists who have trained from around the globe
- Opportunity to continue beyond your chosen training program within GARS and/or our sister business MARS
- Programs are ANZCVS +/- European college based
- Mentorship, training, support and guidance is provided by your department specific and our broader group of specialists (Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency Critical Care and Diagnostic Imaging)
- Aside from clinical duties you will be required to complete and present clinical research
- Active participation in journal clubs, chapter reviews, M&M rounds and CPD events is required

About You
You will have the following;

- Registered as a veterinarian in Victoria (or ability to do so)
- General practice experience is desirable, but not essential

Pay and Conditions

- Superannuation paid additional to salary package at 12.0%
- CPD allowance is 2% of base wage
- Radiation Licence expense covered during employment

LETHBRIDGE, OUTSIDE GEELONG - EQUINE New Position
Equine Veterinarian – Golden Plains Equine, Lethbridge VIC
Golden Plains Equine (GPE) is a progressive six-veterinarian equine practice based in Lethbridge, Victoria. We are looking for another equine veterinarian to join our team, replacing a clinician within the practice.
New and recent graduates are very welcome to apply, as are experienced equine veterinarians looking for a long-term position within a supportive and well-equipped practice.
About GPE
GPE provides equine surgery, medicine, reproduction, sports medicine and ambulatory care. Our diverse caseload ranges from Clydesdales to miniature ponies and includes racing and breeding stock, performance and sport horses, pleasure horses and everything in between.
Our hospital is situated on approximately 80 acres and is one of the largest private equine facilities in Victoria. It includes stabling for up to 28 horses, isolation facilities, extensive yards and paddocks, surgical facilities and foaling facilities under lights and 24-hour camera surveillance. We have modern diagnostic imaging and the equipment expected of a first-class equine hospital.

Surgery & Hospital Caseload
GPE has a busy surgical and hospital caseload, with procedures performed under general anaesthesia, intravenous anaesthesia and standing sedation.
Cases include arthroscopy, colic and upper airway surgery, cryptorchids, fracture repair, angular limb correction, joint and tendon sheath lavages, kissing spine surgery, implant removal, wound repair, ophthalmic procedures, sequestrum surgery and geldings.
The majority of our surgical caseload is performed by boarded equine surgeon Dr Simon Pearce, and visiting specialists regularly utilise our hospital.
This provides excellent exposure for veterinarians wanting to develop skills in surgery, anaesthesia, imaging, medicine, lameness or emergency care.
Reproduction & Foal Medicine
GPE has a substantial reproductive caseload servicing numerous studs and breeding clients. Our work includes fresh, chilled and frozen AI, embryo collection for ET, hysteroscopy and laparoscopic reproductive procedures.
We foal down approximately 30–50 mares on-site each season, providing considerable exposure to neonatal medicine, sick foals, dystocias and associated medical and surgical emergencies.
Ambulatory Practice
Our busy ambulatory service covers Southern Victoria, including Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, Central Highlands, Goldfields, Werribee, Melton, Colac and everywhere in between.
Field veterinarians are well supported by experienced colleagues, skilled nursing staff, advanced diagnostic equipment and our hospital. This allows us to provide a high standard of care while ensuring our veterinarians are not left managing challenging cases in isolation.
On-Site Accommodation Opportunity
For applicants interested in living on-site, we can provide a fully furnished three-bedroom, two-bathroom brick home on the clinic property at no cost.
Living on-site provides a unique opportunity, particularly for a new or recent graduate, to become immersed in a busy equine hospital and rapidly develop clinical confidence and practical skills while surrounded by experienced veterinarians and skilled staff.
There are some additional responsibilities associated with residing on-site, which can be discussed with applicants.
Importantly, living on-site is not a requirement. Applicants who live locally or prefer their own accommodation are equally encouraged to apply.
The Position
We are looking for a veterinarian who is passionate about equine practice, enjoys working within a team and ideally wants to become a long-term part of GPE.
We strongly support continuing education and professional development, with opportunities to develop particular interests in sports medicine and lameness, surgery, medicine, reproduction, anaesthesia and imaging.
Our after-hours commitment is relatively light for equine practice, with approximately one weeknight on call per week and one weekend every six weeks, allowing for a good work-life balance.

Experienced Mixed Practice Veterinarian
Permanent Part-time (4-Day Work Week) | Corowa, NSW
Are you an experienced mixed practice veterinarian who enjoys high-quality medicine while working in a relaxed, supportive team environment?
We’re looking for a capable, confident vet who works hard and to a high standard when it counts — but who also knows how to have a laugh and contribute to a positive, down-to-earth workplace culture.
About the Role
This position is technically part-time, as we roster a 4-day working week (approximately 34 hours per week). We value balance and believe a condensed week allows you to enjoy both your career and your lifestyle.
This is a mixed practice position with a caseload currently comprising approximately 90% small animal work and 10% large animal work.
The small animal caseload includes consultations, surgery, medical workups and preventative care.
Large animal work is currently a smaller component of the role; however, we would be particularly interested to hear from applicants who are enthusiastic about expanding and developing our large animal services. If you enjoy farm work and see opportunity to grow that side of practice, we are open to supporting that vision.
You’ll have the autonomy to practise good medicine your way, while being backed by a supportive team that values common sense, teamwork, and work–life balance.
From time to time, the successful applicant may also be required to work at our sister clinic, Jindera Veterinary Clinic, providing flexibility and support across our practices as needed.

About the GARS Surgery Service
The surgical department consists of seven surgical specialists with a team of residents, interns and nurses who are supported by specialists in imaging, medicine, oncology and critical care to provide stellar patient care.
Our three operating theatres are truly enviable, overlooking the neighbouring golf course with each fully equipped with endoscopic towers, mono/bipolar electrocautery, suction and Bipolar Vessel Sealing Devices. Two of the theatres also have electric fluoroscopic tables to facilitate minimally invasive image guided neurologic, orthopaedic and interventional radiology procedures. We have multiple locking plate systems (LCP, SOP, Fixin) in all sizes from 1.5 to 4.5mm plus a complete speciality plate range (DPO, SHO, PCA, PanTA, ParTA, supracondylar etc). We also have Biomedtrix iLoc Interlocking nail system, IMEX circular and linear ESF in all sizes.
As Victoria’s leading joint replacement and resurfacing centre, we are the only site equipped and performing Biomedtrix THR (nano, micro, standard, giant and lateral bolt systems), Biomedtrix Total Elbow Replacement, Biometrix Total Ankle Replacement, Arthrex CUE, SynACART and Kyon PGR.
For soft tissue procedures, we have a comprehensive range of laparoscopic and thoracoscopic equipment plus all the staplers, Norfolk (Sub, AUS) and Infiniti (IH PSS) interventional radiology equipment and implants. For neurosurgery, we have Stryker electric neurosurgical systems and a comprehensive range of instrumentation. Hospital flow and ergonomics has been specifically designed for easy patient flow between MRI/CT/Imaging/theatre and recovery.
GARS offers an outstanding residency program in Small Animal Surgery. The centre is accredited with ANZCVS and ECVS for training residents. We currently have two surgical residents. They enjoy high caseload and a huge variety of cases making it easy to fulfil requirements for training programs. Our residents receive high quality case-based teaching from surgical specialists and other specialists within the hospital. They also have access to a large number of journal clubs and clinical rounds (whole of hospital, Surgery, ECC, Internal Medicine, Morbidity and Mortality). For research projects we have a designated staff member to provide support and advice on study design, implementation and statistics.
Position details
- The surgery internship is designed to ensure you develop a deeper level of knowledge and competence in all areas of small animal surgery by the completion of the program.
- Mentorship, training, support, and guidance provided by a dynamic group of Specialists (Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology and Emergency and Critical Care) and a supportive team of nursing staff.
- Involvement in daily hospital and medicine rounds, in-clinic tutorials and journal club
- Mentorship and support for interns to pursue ANZCVS membership (if not already completed) and develop research projects is supported and encouraged.
- Continuing education support, including attendance at conferences is supported and encouraged.
- Guidance and support provided for applications to Residency programs, both within GARS, MARS and external institutions.

The Role

You will be mostly supported by another Veterinarian and a team of 4 Nurses and a full-time receptionist although some times there may be sole charge required.
This role offers exposure to a wide variety of cases, including critical emergencies such as snake bite patients during summer. We also work alongside visiting specialists providing additional learning opportunities for our team. While our caseload is primarily dogs and cats, there is also opportunity for anyone interested in treating poultry and small cage birds.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A BVSc (or equivalent) and full eligibility to practice in Australia
- 3+ years of experience preferred

The Role
We are offering a permanent part-time position, ideally around 2–3 days per week, with flexibility around days and hours for the right person.
The role is primarily small animal general practice and may include consulting, general medicine, routine surgery, dentistry and case work-up, depending on your interests, experience and confidence.
Some shared Saturday morning shifts are included, from 9am–1pm.
There is no after-hours or on-call work.

About You
We are looking for a veterinarian who is kind, capable and enjoys being part of a supportive team.
You may be an experienced small animal vet looking for a long-term part-time position, a parent returning to the workforce, a vet seeking more flexible hours, or someone wanting to re-enter clinical practice in a supportive environment.
Ideally, you will have:
- General practice small animal experience
- Good communication and client relationship skills
- A compassionate and practical approach to patient care
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board of Victoria
Most importantly, you will value being part of a clinic where the team genuinely enjoys working together and caring for the local community.
