MAGILL, INNER EAST ADELAIDE - SMALL ANIMAL

The original Magill Police Station is being renovated and extended and will transform into the new and exciting Magill Village Vet.
With separate spaces for Cat World (which includes 3 consulting rooms, a hospital ward and a treatment room) and Dog World (4 consulting rooms), we are taking caring for cats to the next level.
Some of the cool features we have incorporated into the new hospital:
- WellKennels tempered glass kennels – check them out because they are amazing!
- A transition glass windows allowing families to see into the hospital from the reception space.
- An art installation by Adelaide ceramic artist Elodie Barker
- A gorgeous clerestory (8.6m x 2.5m) which will bathe the hospital in natural light.
- A quiet room – for those times when a peaceful environment makes all the difference.
- A dedicated x-ray room.
- A dedicated ultrasound room.
- “At the Dog Park” wallpaper to keep you entertained in the bathroom.
The hospital will meet ASAV Hospital Standards and ISFM Gold Cat Friendly Standards.
Please click here to see photos!
We are recruiting additional team members who would like to join us in the new hospital - full time or part time - ideally suited to a keen surgeon who would like to be mentored and trained by Warren Foreman (2020 ASAV Practitioner of the Year).
If you love working with cats – this is the place for you. Jenni Trewren will be leading the team of feline fanatics. We have big plans for the old police cells which will improve the care that we can provide for cats.
Sumo has requested that any new team members treat her as the queen that she is – she is actually in charge! Our two clinic cats, Sumo and her offsider Freckle, are very important members of our team. They are looking forward to moving into the new hospital and checking out all the cat friendly features which have been incorporated into the design.
There is no point in writing an essay (or a novel!) - if you would like to find out more, please email Jenni Trewren - jenni@stbernardsvet.com.au
New graduates are welcome to apply.
Our new website www.magillvillagevet.com.au was launched last month and will give regular building updates.
WALLAROO, YORKE PENINSULA - SMALL ANIMAL
Why work at Seaside Vet Surgery? Because we care about you!
What do you care about? What’s important to you at work? Have a think about that while we tell you what’s important to us.
Drs Nat Wakeham and Amanda Bunney got into practice ownership in 2019 because we care about the profession and looking after the people in it. We’ve been vets for ages, working with so many fantastic vets and nurses. Our priority, and the reason we wanted to be practice owners, is to keep good vets and nurses in the profession. We’re working really hard on our team and our culture, to make Seaside Vet Surgery a great place to be.
We work hard to create place that is welcoming, inclusive, fun and caring. We like having a joke and a laugh, but we don’t like triangular conversations or gossip. We have a lovely client base here on the Yorke Peninsula.
What is also important to us is closing at 5pm and taking our dog to the beach! We really value work-life balance. Wallaroo is a beautiful seaside town on the Yorke Peninsula, which fills to the brim during school holidays and over summer as this is a great place to swim, snorkel, fish, kite-surf, jet-ski, lounge around on the beach, head over to the wine regions for the weekend, go to the pub or out for tea, or to just chill and watch Netflix at home!
We are a 3-4 vet small animal practice. Our nurses are trained and skilled, to allow the vets to just do what vets do. We do all the usual small animal vet work, with all the regular toys. We are actively reinvesting in the business and the premises, to continually improve on the standards of care and comfort we can offer to our patients and our team.
Please click here to see photos!
We encourage collaboration and discussion, and the sharing of ideas and feedback from the whole team. Seaside is committed to developing and supporting our vets, in the form of mentoring and coaching, personal flexibility, and flexible study leave and study allowances. Our vets are currently undertaking the Leading Edge program with the Lincoln Institute. We also encourage you to take regular time off, and do what you need to do to look after yourself and your mental health.
Being privately owned, we are agile and can respond quickly to the needs of our team and our community. We value looking after each individual team member, factoring in your family, sporting and social obligations to our rosters and forward planning. We are LGBTQIA+ friendly, family friendly, tattoo and coloured hair friendly, and enough of us use humour to deal with our anxiety, so we’re entertaining as well. Drs Nat and Amanda are currently doing the Lincoln Institute’s Lead to Succeed Program, as we are striving to continually improve our management and leadership skills.
We are looking for a part or full-time vet to start in October 2024, ready to help out with our busy summer period.. Experience is preferred, but we welcome applications from new and recent graduates as well. Salary is negotiable and will be reviewed regularly, and comes with additional benefits and perks.
We can contribute to moving costs for the right candidate, or travel costs for those commuting from off the Yorke Peninsula, and we may be able to help secure a rental property for you (very competitive market locally).
So if patient advocacy, good communication and great teamwork are important to you, as well as all the stuff above, we’d love to hear from you. Shoot us an email at amanda@seasidevet.com.au, or call Amanda on 0418 659 067 for a chat. Speak soon!

A full-time role consists of a four-day week inclusive of early finishes and late starts before/after on call shifts. After-hours support is provided through senior vets, scheduled nurses, and Medechat, meaning vets are only called out for patients that need to be seen.
New graduates will not be required to do any after-hours work for the first three months. After three months, you will be included in the after-hours roster, with an experienced vet being available to assist you with after-hours cases.
The salary package for a new graduate includes a base salary of $80,000 + Superannuation, along with an additional $20,000 or more package for after-hours work, VSB registration, radiation license, AVA membership fees, up to two weeks study leave, four weeks annual leave, along with assistance with HECS fees on top. Experienced Veterinarians will be remunerated based on level of experience.
The region is a great place to live and is an easy 2.5-hour drive from Adelaide. Recreational activities in the area are many and varied, including sports, wineries, arts, water-skiing, camping, and generally enjoying the beautiful country environment.
Feedback from a 2019 graduate who is still currently employed:
I started working as a new graduate at the practice in early 2020, and COVID hit not long after. I was very well-supported. When I started after-hours and still now, there is always an experienced senior nurse with you and a vet available to call for backup or just over the phone for advice.
We do a fair amount of community work, so there are lots of opportunities to really develop your surgical skills and techniques. Still now, with anything you haven’t done before or would like some help with, you can schedule the practice owner or another senior vet to help.
Vets are regularly discussing cases and bouncing ideas off each other. If we ever get stuck on anything, we can also call the specialist/emergency centres, and they’re really good at giving advice. The practice owner is also very happy to pay for continuing education and conferences as well.
The practice owner also heads out to rural communities a couple of times a year where there are no vets and there are opportunities to go with them. Here, vets will provide consults and perform surgeries as needed, such as desexings, dentals, and lump removals. On their most recent trip, they also saw a few kangaroos and did some horse castrates and dentals.
There is lots to do in the area when you’re not working, especially if you like sport! Although not in a city, there are all the basic shops needed. They have various community days throughout the year, including dinghy races, fishing and fireworks.
The team are really, really, really supportive! If you need anything, you can just ask and they are more than willing to help out. The nurses and practice managers go above and beyond. They are very knowledgeable and absolutely amazing with new graduates. The nurses are quite hands-on; I honestly don’t think I would be able to do my job without them!
To apply please send a copy of your resume with 3 current references and a cover letter attention to Stacey at assistantmanager@rivvet.com.au

Mon- Friday 8pm-8am
24 Hours Sat/Sun
With all the latest in equipment to make your job as an emergency clinician easy, Pawprints aims to establish itself as the standard for care here in Adelaide.
About Adelaide:
Adelaide is known by its many festivals and sporting events (home to Australia's cycling and equestrian sports!) food and wine as well as its beautiful coastline along the Adelaide Hills. A large town (Australis 5th largest!) which really doesn't feel like city living.
The Position:
Pawprints is seeking a veterinarian to fill out our roster to help improve the work-life balance of everyone involved. The position will rotate through the nights, and the weekend day shifts on a 3 week rota. It will be a mix of consulting and hospital work, and support is always available, no matter the hour.
As expansion into a full 24 hr service (and purpose fit out facility!) is on track to occur by early 2025, this will allow you to become established within the company which brings privileges in the long term.
Why Pawprints?
- Rostering designed to get you your life back – ask us what FTE is here at Pawprints!
- $100,000 – 150,000pa salary depending on experience and skill sets.
- Values and culture driven policies underpin all our decisions resulting in a pleasant, compassionate and high performance work place.

Requirements of the Role:
- Bachelor Veterinary Science or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent) with full practising rights in Australia
- Willingness to work nights and weekends – this is all we do!
- This position is ideal for a general practice veterinarian seeking to transition into an Emergency setting, but is nervous about being overwhelmed. It is also a great 'toe in' for those who are unsure if shift work would suit them.
How to Get in Touch?
For applications please contact Sam (Director/Clinical Lead) on samantha.stewart@pawprintsafterhours.com for further details about the position.
PORT LINCOLN, EYRE PENINSULA - MIXED
Wanting to hit the eject button on the hustle and bustle of big city life?
Want to move to a relaxed, beautiful seaside town where your days off are spent fishing, diving, surfing, camping, hiking, horse riding, boating, kayaking (and the list goes on and on!)?
Vets On Eyre, located in beautiful Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, is looking for an enthusiastic and friendly vet to join our team.
‘But where is the Eyre Peninsula?’ I hear you ask? It is a pretty special place, just have a look at this video: https://youtu.be/n5_ak_Zn9vs
There’s a million, squillion vet ads out there so WHY CHOOSE US??
We are a rural mixed practice vet clinic with an interesting and diverse case load. We see approximately 80% small animal, 10% equine and the rest sheep and cattle.
Please click here to see photos!
Our team is currently made up of 2 full-time vets and 3 part-time vets, with a new grad starting in March which will bring the total full-time vets to 3. All our full-time vets get a consistent weekly RDO.
Vaccination consults are 15 minutes and EVERYTHING ELSE is at least half an hour. Vaccines plus a specific concern? You’ll get half an hour – our nurses will always check on booking because no one likes the old ‘oh he’s been scratching a lot and can you also check his gunky eyes?’ in a 15 minute time slot!
Because we are rural, we get to see some pretty cool stuff, but for those extra tricky cases we have an awesome orthopaedic surgeon who visits once a month and is available to chat about a difficult case you may have.
Once we are back at full vet capacity, we would resume our regular fortnightly visits up the coast of the Eyre Peninsula to Elliston, Streaky Bay and Ceduna – providing a veterinary service to these more isolated areas. If this is something that interests you, you would be more than welcome to become involved in these trips.
Being a rural practice we feel it is important that our patients have access to veterinary care when they need it, not just when it’s convenient. That being said, we do offer an after hours service. Our after hours compensation is fair with the vet taking home 70% of the professional fees. With the existing vets, our on call roster would be 1 weekend in 4, and 1-2 nights a week.
Some other perks include pretty awesome staff discounts – cost price for everything!, VSBSA registration and EAP license reimbursed, and an annual CPD allowance of $2000. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
WHAT DO WE WANT:
A vet! Ideally comfortable with mixed practice. Experience preferred. Full time or part time we don’t mind!
So if you think you could handle living in paradise and working with a great bunch of like-minded people in a job you love, don’t delay in dropping us a line. We’ll happily answer any questions you might have!

VIRGINIA, ADELAIDE OUTER NORTH - SMALL ANIMAL New Position
We are on the lookout for passionate vets!
Virginia Veterinary is a new privately owned general practice in the rapidly growing region of Virginia about 30 km north of Adelaide. We are on the hunt for a part-time or full-time vet to join our growing team.
About You:
- Like being hands on? Put your surgical skills to good use with a wide variety of procedures, including speys, neuters, advanced soft tissue, orthopaedic and more. We are extremely lucky to have referral centers for when cases need extra care but we also like a challenge and manage lots of interesting cases inhouse. We are looking for a team player that thrives on coming together with colleagues and clients in a collaborative environment to provide the best outcome for everyone.
- Like to talk? We believe open and honest communication is key and informed consent paramount. You can explain complex medical situations clearly and concisely, whilst not talking to down to pet parents. Bonus points if you can manage to discuss a sensitive issue with empathy and perhaps a touch humour at the appropriate moment!
- New to the profession or experienced? New graduates and seasoned vets are both equally welcome. Our nurses are all stellar individuals who are capable of supporting vets at any stage of their career and all our staff enjoy mentoring. We work in a profession where ongoing learning is a must, so a keenness to learn and continue to develop is essential. We believe we all have something to learn (and teach) each other.
- Flexible and Resourceful? We believe our job is to make sure the client understands all the treatment options, but gold standard care isn’t always budget friendly. You will be able to navigate finding the perfect balance between optimal patient well and financial limitations whilst remaining empathetic and respectful.
The lighter stuff:
- Cheese! We take our cheese breaks seriously… because a happy vet is a better vet right?! You don’t have to love cheese but we do like snacks and are lucky to get my Mum provide them weekly (she’s a better cook than most of us!)
- Gadgets and Gizmos a plenty - We like having fun toys to make our days more interesting and our diagnostics more complete. Including but not limited to DR radiography, IM3 dental CR radiography, endoscope, ultrasound, full inhouse laboratory, tonometry, cautery, patient warmers, humidicrib, syringe drivers and IV pumps. We don’t have it and you want it? Let’s see if we can get it for you! Total bonus points if you get the Disney reference.
We offer:
- Supportive environment. We foster an environment focusing on open communication, collaboration, mutual respect and a shared passion for animal welfare.
- Flexible scheduling. We understand life is busy and our commitments are all different. We offer part-time and full-time positions to accommodate both career and personal goals.
- Competitive Salary and Benefits. Compensation packages are commensurate with experience but both open to regular review and negotiation, including benefits. We want you to stay and be part of our family.
- Growth and Development Opportunities. We believe personal development and ongoing learning is an important part of maintaining job satisfaction and self-fulfillment as much as it is required to maintain registration. There will be opportunities for advancement within our growing practice.
We are a passionate group of people who come together to support each other, our clients and their pets to create a happy life for all of them and us. Team is an important focus for us, especially as we build the practice into a place where we want to come to work, and our clients and their pets are comfortable to attend. We want our clients to feel empowered to make informed decisions and then supported through the treatment process for their pet. We believe that every pet deserves the best in care.
