BLAKEVIEW, NORTHERN ADELAIDE - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

BLAKES CROSSING VETERINARY SURGERIES

Veterinarian position – part time or full time

Opportunity details
Blakes Crossing Vets are looking for a part-time or full-time qualified Veterinarian to join our team. We are committed to ongoing professional development, high standards of care and a desire for optimal patient outcomes. If you like a dynamic work environment with a wide and varied case load, then we may be the team for you!

We are a privately owned small business of 10 years with a strong focus on family, team, and friendship. Five years ago, a second clinic was opened leading to further growth and a larger team. We are very fortunate to have a strong line-up of support staff; most of our nurses are certificate IV qualified and we also employ veterinary technicians undergoing their university studies. Blakes Crossing Vet and Tiver Road Vet are both located close to the University of Adelaide Roseworthy campus, enabling us to have a number of veterinary science students in our employ. This allows us to mentor, teach (great for CPD!) and help nurture some of our next generation vets. Our clinic is registered with The Centre for Veterinary Education (CVE) and to the Veterinary Information Network (VIN).

Located approximately 40 minutes from the centre of Adelaide, and only 30 minutes from the beautiful Barossa Valley, we are well situated for you to be able to enjoy culture, wine, cuisine, and a great lifestyle. You can choose whether to embrace the rural, relaxed lifestyle or spend more time exploring and enjoying the city.

We are open seven days a week and offer an affordable 24-hour emergency service, which allows us a large and exciting case load, as well as many learning opportunities. Both clinics are well equipped with extensive in-house laboratories, digital radiographs, ultrasound, endoscope, pulse oximetry, pet MAP, modern dental units, dental radiographs, and intravenous fluid pumps. We have separate cat and dog wards, as well as an isolation ward. Reproduction comprises a significant part of our workload and we are a Sires on Ice clinic. We have an extensive laboratory for reproductive work allowing us to collect, analyse, freeze, chill, and store semen. We are proud of our high successful conception rates and delivery rate of viable litters, assisted by intensive progesterone management in-house.

As a team we currently offer orthopaedic, routine, and advanced soft tissues surgeries. Our vision statement is ‘affordable and quality care’. We also are fortunate to have access to specialists as needed, both in house and referral hospitals. Our current team of vets have a varied range of interests including reproduction, BOAS corrective surgeries, ophthalmics (incl. conjunctival grafts, meibomian gland repair, entropion etc), orthopaedics, medicine, behaviour, and exotics. The clinic also offers a range of additional services, including but not limited to boarding, grooming, puppy school (junior and senior) and occasional house calls.

What you need to be successful in this role

What you get from us

We are a knowledgeable, approachable team and pride ourselves on being supportive of all team members. Our days require us to work as a cohesive, efficient team but we aim to balance this with regular food incentives and staff bonding days outside of work.

We pride ourselves on building and maintaining strong relationships with our clients and are all dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients.

The Clinic is very well equipped with digital radiography, endoscope, ultrasound, electrocautery, anaesthetic monitoring equipment, in house IDEXX Catalyst pathology and integrated Cornerstone software.

Our vets range in experience from 2 to 33 years and we encourage all to undertake further study in areas of interest with scope for personal development catering to the strengths, experiences and interests of the individual.

We are a busy practice with an interesting mix of medical and surgical cases and our vets are supported by an incredible group of hard-working nurses.  We are looking for a positive, motivated veterinarian with excellent communication skills to work negotiable hours with a shared Saturday morning roster. The position involves up to 38 hours per week with remuneration commensurate with experience. Our consulting hours are 8am-1pm and 2pm-7:30pm on weekdays, and Saturday mornings 8am-1pm.

We are located in the inner south eastern suburbs of Adelaide, specifically the foothills, and as such we are able to refer to a number of after hours and specialist centres when necessary.  Whilst most of our work is with dogs and cats, work with exotics is available should you be interested.

If our practice sounds like what you are looking for, we would love to hear from you.  Recent graduates with some experience are welcome to apply.

So, we built it, and they came. They told their friends about us and they came, and on it goes. What is it that draws clients to us?
These comments from our Facebook page may give you a good idea:

Perfect humans work down there. Thanks again for the short notice help.” – Troy Pitt. (Well, we’re not perfect but we are pretty darn good!)

Excellent service, very friendly and thorough vets. Gave us a lot of options in regard to the treatment we needed for our old dog. Will definitely return.” - Susan Mignone. (We certainly aren’t limited by resources.)

No nonsense professionals. AAA+” – Michael Sulser. (Yep, we are a sensible bunch.)

… and these are just in the last week. The trust our clients have put in us for almost 20 years has enabled us to keep building on our dream and we have created something that is so much more than a general practice. So much so that we now regularly support other practices by providing referral high-level imaging and surgical services to their patients.

We believe that all good things should be shared and our practice is not only good, it’s EXCEPTIONAL!

LEWISTON - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Noahs Crossing Vet Clinic is a (very) busy small animal clinic on the outskirts of Adelaide. We are looking for a new vet to join our fun and supportive team.

We are situated 45 minutes North of Adelaide in sunny Lewiston. We are only half an hour from the beautiful Barossa wine region in one direction and amazing beaches in the other direction. You can also take the new expressway and find yourself in Adelaide for some fine dining in under 45 minutes, or head for the airport for a weekend away without spending hours in traffic jams.

You will be safely out of the way of rising flood waters, paralysis ticks, heartworm, Hendra and all the other nasties that seem to plague the Eastern states.

We have a purpose-built clinic with all the usual toys, fancy xray machine, ultrasound, in house lab, surgical laser and all the orthopaedic gear you could want. If we don’t have it, let us know why we need it and we might just get it!

Our clinic is largely reproductive based, so you will see no end of cute puppies, which we have carefully brought to life, often using semen from dogs that have been dead for over 30 years! You will also get plenty of practice at caesarians, as well as all sorts of other soft tissue surgeries, both routine and not-so-routine. Did I mention we do a LOT of surgery? Actually, we do a lot of everything! You’ll be spoilt for choice and variety, seeing everything from Bengal cats to Great Danes, the occasional bird or pocket pet and even sometimes kangaroos!

On top of this we also have a brand-new hydrotherapy center with internationally trained hydrotherapists where we undertake extensive rehabilitation and conditioning in our massive, heated pool. Our rehab department also includes an underwater treadmill as well as utilising many other therapies including laser, massage and acupuncture.

Ironically, our reproductive expertise is the reason we need new team members - some of our current team got a bit too excited about it and now we’re about to lose half the team to maternity leave! We have big shoes to fill, however we are very flexible - part time, full time, mornings, afternoons, long days, short days, let us know what you want and we will work with you to make it happen! You will be working alongside 4 other vets, ranging from new grads to many (many! - sorry boss!) years of experience. We have dedicated receptionists and oh-so many amazing nurses to make your life as easy as possible.

Obviously we are offering all the usual perks - good pay, flexible hours, paid study leave etc etc. We don’t mind how much experience you have (we can teach you all the important stuff), but you have to be a team player with a great attitude. In exchange we will laugh with (sometimes at) you, feed you, provide you with ample learning opportunities and generally make you wonder why you didn’t come work with us sooner!

What are you waiting for??? Send us your resume to jo@noahscrossingvetclinic.com.au

We look forward to meeting you!

PORT LINCOLN, EYRE PENINSULA - SMALL ANIMAL New Graduates welcome

Why would you want to work in a busy city practice when you can work in a casual regional environment, where it only takes you five minutes to get to work?

Imagine working in a rural area where you don’t have to do any large animals and you can just focus on providing a high level of service to the local pets from a very well-equipped clinic.

The clinic is located in Ravendale House, a heritage listed building originally built to house Her Majesty Queen Victoria’s Colonial Officers. Externally the building is stunning and original, but inside there has been extensive renovations, including an extension, to accommodate a modern architecturally design vet clinic.

Within the practice there is a highly skilled and dedicated team passionate about educating our clients to ensure an exemplary standard of health and well- being for their pets.

The clinic has an interesting case load, and because we are a 7-hour drive to a referral practice many cases will stay in house.

To add interest and a service to the surrounding regional areas we conduct remote clinics, the furthest being 4 hours drive away.

What would you do if you knocked off work at 5.30pm? The options might include heading out for a fish or going for a walk in the National Park that is right at your doorstep. That’s right the clinic is open between civilised hours, 8am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm on Saturday. Yes, we do provide an afterhours service, but with the right quota of vets that would be only one weekend in 4 or 5. As afterhours can be stressful on your own, we have a nurse also rostered on call, so you never have to worry about who is going to help. And by the way, the afterhours compensation is probably one of the most generous going around, so it does make it a little more bearable.

As you may have guessed we are talking about a rural coastal area, that includes some of the best facilities around, one of which is an airport that is serviced by both Qantas and Rex.

Other things we can potentially help you out with are visas, if you are coming from OS, relocation expenses, short term accommodation, continuing education and Vet Board registration fees.

We would love to help you develop your career while still having enough down time to enjoy what life has to offer.

Just a heads up, the clinic you are looking for is in Australia, in the beautiful State of South Australia and is located in Port Lincoln, which at this point has one of the lowest numbers of Covid cases in the World.

Whether you are an experience vet, a new graduate or somewhere in between, if you think you might be interested in breathing in some of the freshest air anywhere in the universe, drop us a line and let’s chat.

FLEURIEU PENINSULA - SMALL ANIMALS New Graduates welcome

Seeking New or Recent Graduate

Great work culture? A sea change? A busy but supportive clinic? If this sounds pretty good to you, then look no further!

The VetsFirst team is growing and is looking for a full time new or recent graduate vet to join our 7 vet team. We run two small animal practices in the gorgeous Fleurieu Peninsula. You would initially be based at Riverport Veterinary Hospital in Goolwa where you will be supported to grow in skill and confidence. As you progress, there will be opportunity to work more independently at the Victor Central Vet Clinic our 1.5 FTE practice if so desired.

There are plenty of challenges with being a vet and finding a supportive vet practice shouldn’t be one of them. A recent study by Montoya et al. 2021 found the key risk factors that contributed to attrition rates in our profession included lower salary, long working hours, on call duties and region of work.  We are a clinic that is successful at maintaining long-term vets; so what do we do that works?

What can we offer you?

What can you offer us?

If you are interested in joining our team, please send your resume and cover letter to rhys_hayward@internode.on.net

Successful applicants will be invited in for a tour of the clinic during working hours (so you can see how we operate) and interview.

NORTH ADELAIDE, PARA HILLS - SMALL ANIMAL New Position

Full Time or Part Time, Small Animal Vet required South Australia.

A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced vet to join our seven-vet team. We are looking for someone full time or part time. The applicant must have great people skills, can work well with the team, and communicate well with clients. We want someone wanting to practice high quality medicine and surgery within a small animal practice. If you don't like surgery, then that's okay too as we would be happy to have someone in a purely medical role. We have four part time vets and two full time vets currently. We can offer flexible working hours, Saturdays 1 in 2 (or 2 in 3 depending on negotiation) and, every second weekend a long weekend. All our after hours are referred to an emergency centre. We have an amazing team of vets and nurses who can provide a very supportive environment if needed. We have lots of mod cons such as ultrasound, digital x-ray, dental x-rays, inhouse bloods, and we have great back up referral services for CT/MRI/Scoping. We are just in the middle of adding a large office/staff room.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We like to support our staff and encourage them to follow their interests outside of work as well as at work. We encourage continuing education. We have several vets interested in wildlife and rabbits so see a reasonable amount of wildlife and rabbits (enough to keep life interesting!). We try and match clients to vets and love to work with the strengths that each vet has so have specific vets that see rabbits, birds, koalas, etc, or that do specific surgeries such as MMPTTAs or other orthopaedics, or ultrasounds. We don't expect every vet to be able to do every facet of vet work and really encourage each vet to find the things that they enjoy doing and excel at and we will try and book more of those in specifically for that vet. (and yes, we all share the routine general stuff!).

As a clinic we are held in high esteem and like being a part of the community. We are often involved in things like caring for bushfire victims and helping out where we can.

Our website needs to be updated (we have improved since then) but feel free to have a look at that too! - http://parahillsvet.com.au/
