Support, collaboration and team spirit is not only with the individual clinic but across the VetLove team. Known for our culture, the VetLove teams are also a great group to be around, friendly competition across the group makes for some interesting conversations.

You have the autonomy to make decisions and we trust your judgement. Our expectation is that you do the right thing for our clients, our patients, our team and your business.

GOLD COAST, MERMAID WATERS - SMALL ANIMALNew Graduates welcomeNew Position

Full Time or Part Time Position

We are a six-veterinarian small animal only veterinary clinic with a fantastic work environment and great clientele. We are looking for a veterinarian with an easy-going nature who can fit in with our ethos: that the most important element of a veterinary practice is a healthy and happy workplace.

Our Mermaid Vet clinic, centrally located on the Gold Coast, is just a few minutes from the white sands of Mermaid Beach. A veterinary surgery has been established on this site for over forty years. Since purchasing the clinic fourteen years ago, the owners have been successful in growing the practice into one of the most highly respected clinics on the Gold Coast. The clinic is family owned and operated with a belief in providing the best veterinary care, without the need for ‘over servicing’ or performance reviews. We do our utmost to provide an environment in which veterinarians and nurses can enjoy their work every day.

Having the highest quality veterinary equipment means that diagnostic procedures can be efficient and more enjoyable in the day-to-day routine. Our clinic has a dedicated imaging room with DR x-ray and an advanced ultrasound machine. Our DR x-ray machine produces high resolution images in a matter of seconds. We also have a ultrasound sound machine with 3d Doppler that we use routinely, but also provide training for our vets through a visiting ultra-sonographer. Our pathology suite is complete with an Idexx Catalyst biochemistry and Procyte haematology machines – delivering blood tests in approximately 15 minutes. Our dental suite consists of two IM3 dental machines both with sub-gingival scalers and a wall mounted DR dental x-ray. Six consultation rooms, a dedicated imaging room, dental room and surgery complemented by multiple prep areas also make for hassle free procedures. We also believe that veterinarians should never stop learning. We support ongoing education, career advancement and encourage the development of personal interests within the veterinary field.

We have an outstanding group of nurses with many decades of experience between them. They are highly supportive of our vets and take pride in our clinic. Our nurses all excel in various fields that support primary veterinary care including nutrition and behavioural training.

A small animal veterinarian with a long-term view for employment would be best suited for this position. An interest in a field, such as medicine or surgery, for example, would be favourable. New and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. No after-hours or on-call work is required. All after hours cases are referred to a close by afterhours clinic.

If you are looking for practice with back-to-back fifteen minute consults and the constant pressure of KPI based reviews, then this isn’t the job for you.

We offer a steady and manageable daily workload with 30 minutes allocated for every consultation. Shifts are structured with 4-5 veterinarians working at any one time on weekdays and 3 veterinarians on Saturday mornings. This provides excellent peer support for veterinarians and enough time to manage caseloads. Pay rate is based on level of experience and suitability to the practice. We are offering a superior pay package, conference leave, membership to vet education, access to VIN, procedures and products at cost and most importantly, a position where you can devote your time to the best care and outcomes for companion animals.

Have a look on our website to see who we are and what we are all about.

But this is your life now:

You are probably wondering what is wrong with the vet industry. You may even be questioning why you entered this profession in the first place!

The good news is that not every practice is the same, not every team is broken and not every client is complicated. There is hope and we are working on it right now!

We have a great team of vet nurses, receptionists, vets and a practice manager that are passionate about patient& client care working on an innovative vet business model: a fully established Clinic offering Mobile Consultations, this is where we integrate Wet Noses Mobile Vet with Animal Options Vet Clinic.

Wanting some time in the clinic to do surgeries, dentals, consults, xrays etc? No problems, we work at our strengths and we focus on what brings us joy and purpose.

Ready to give it a go? Come and see what we are doing!
