North Shore Veterinary Specialist Centre was established in 2001 and is co-located with North Shore Veterinary Hospital. NSVH was built in 1935 and is the longest standing Veterinary hospital on the North Shore of Sydney. We are a 24/7, 365 day a year facility with specialists in internal medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, ophthalmology and dermatology, a dedicated dentistry and exotics service, a bustling and supportive emergency department, as well as a progressive general practice.

In 2019 we moved to a brand-new state of the art, purpose-built facility. We have advanced in-house laboratory facilities, comprehensive diagnostic imaging including 2 ultrasound rooms, digital X-ray, a 128 Slice GE CT scanner and are planning for an MRI installation later this year. The Opportunity

NSVSC is looking for an enthusiastic veterinarian with at least one year of experience to join our medicine team for a 12-month internship. This is a great opportunity for motivated veterinarians with an interest in pursuing further medicine training or who intend to sit memberships.

This role is full-time with 1 in 3 weekends – but with days off either side to make up for weekend days worked. The position includes four weeks annual leave and one week conference leave.

AUCKLAND - EQUINE ROTATING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Internship January 2022

Veterinary Associates Equine is seeking applicants for our rotating internship program. We offer three staggered yearlong positions that traditionally commence in January and June.

Vet Associates is a full-service equine ambulatory and referral practice based in Karaka, South Auckland, with a satellite practice in Kumeu, West Auckland. Veterinarians on staff at the Vet Associates Equine Hospital in Karaka include two board-certified surgeons, a board-certified internist, and a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Medicine. The specialists are readily available to provide backup and support for all members of the practice. The practice is heavily involved in all types of equine pursuits, including sport horses, Thoroughbred racehorses, Standardbred racehorses, and pleasure horses, providing a tremendous variety of work.

The interns are based in Karaka and rotate weekly through the medicine, surgery, and ambulatory departments. They share on-call responsibilities, which includes assisting with emergency hospital admissions and the care of hospital patients. In addition, as the interns’ clinical skills develop, they will be responsible for primary ambulatory emergency duty on a rotating schedule with the ambulatory vets. Mentorship and support are important components of our program. The interns will be given a broad-reaching education and will be provided the skills to become exemplary equine veterinarians. The program is designed such that the interns, upon completion of the program, are prepared to enter directly into a position in a private practice setting or as applicants into a residency program.

The work environment is attractive; our custom-built hospital is well equipped with the latest equine medical technology. This includes a fully equipped surgical suite, dynamic endoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasonography, dentistry gear, IRAP, PRP, a stem cell culture facility, and an in-house diagnostic laboratory.

Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital located in Congupna, (Shepparton), Victoria, Australia has an opportunity for Intern Veterinarian’s to join our specialist equine practice, commencing July 2021 for one year (13 months), finishing in August 2022.

The rotating internship programme at Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital has been running for many years and has provided graduates with significant exposure, training and experience in all areas of equine internal medicine, surgery and reproduction.

The hospital caseload is busy and diverse, with an equal mix of referral and first opinion cases.  During the season, the hospital admits approximately 100 sick neonates for intensive care. Interns participate in a rotating roster through surgery, outpatients, reproduction, medicine, anaesthesia and night duty, working under specialists in equine surgery, equine reproduction and internal medicine, and their associated residents. 

The successful applicant must possess a veterinary degree registerable with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of Victoria, Australia.

The Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre (MVSC) is a multi-disciplinary specialist veterinary centre providing services to referring veterinary practices within Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria from two locations (Glen Waverley and Essendon).

We are excited to announce that our surgery team is seeking a motivated and passionate Veterinarian to be our next surgical intern, based at our Glen Waverley hospital. The internship offers a full-time fixed-term contract over 12 months. The successful intern will work closely with our surgical specialist and our fantastic team of dedicated and experienced surgical nurses. The position is full-time and involves a four-day working week (with some additional Saturdays). We offer four weeks of annual leave and 1 week of conference/study leave (with conference allowance paid).

This exciting opportunity will provide the successful candidate with extensive exposure to and preliminary training in all areas of Small Animal Surgery. The position is well suited to candidates who wish to continue further surgical training or complete a surgical residency in the future. Previous work experience in a specialist or emergency hospital would be advantageous, however potential candidates with experience in general practice with a keen interest in small animal surgery are also encouraged to apply. Applicants who already hold membership qualifications in small animal surgery from the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (or equivalent) will be advantaged.

Whilst the program is primarily in the field of Emergency and Critical Care, as part of the program, you will be given the opportunity to undertake short rotations through other disciplines of your choice, including anaesthesia, internal medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging and dermatology for exposure to some of the other veterinary specialties.

Training will involve attending consultations, assisting with diagnostic investigations, surgical and medical procedures, undertaking client communication and maintenance of high-quality medical records in addition to participation in didactic training sessions. You will then progress to taking primary case management under supervision allowing you to develop the confidence and clinical skills needed in this challenging field of veterinary medicine.

Equine Internship

Hunter Equine Centre have an opportunity for a young and enthusiastic veterinarian to join us and be mentored at our new hospital facility in Scone, the horse capital of Australia. We would like to fill this position with someone who is equally committed to providing the highest standard of care to both our stud, performance and racetrack cliental.

Our practice has an excellent, new facility at Scone racetrack. This breeding season we will have specialists boarded in surgery, medicine and theriogenology based at the clinic, and surgeons from our partner practice, Randwick Equine Centre, operating weekly from the facility. With 12-veterinarians at the practice; we feel we are in a good position to offer an excellent learning opportunity, with invaluable mentorship including one on one training with experienced equine practitioners and specialists, exposure to intensive care, surgery and in-house laboratory work as well as some opportunity for sole-responsibility on a case-by-case basis. The clinic is well equipped with multiple ultrasound, digital radiography, videoendoscopy and gastroendoscopy units and a comprehensive in-house laboratory.

Our clients include some excellent and well managed stud farms in the Hunter Valley, with over 1000 mares under our care, and an important yearling sale component. We also service many of the local trainers and pre-trainers in the area and consider ourselves very fortunate to have such friendly and successful clients. This is a new internship program - we plan to offer a 6-month program, with time spent in surgery, anaesthesia, intensive care and internal medicine; and opportunity to do more ambulatory work if desired. Are you keen on emergency and critical care, late nights, and working in a high-energy environment with a fantastic team? The Animal Referral Hospital is pleased to offer a 12-month internship in ECC starting January 2021. The position would suit an energetic, motivated individual with a minimum of 12 months’ experience, although new graduates with excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability will be considered.

We believe our team is our best asset. Under the mentorship of our ECC Specialist and 6 other senior emergency vets who have achieved MANZCVS, and/or residency training, the ECC Intern will rotate through daytime shifts with the specialists, as well as night-time and weekend shifts under the guidance of senior ECC clinicians. Four weeks annual leave, 1-week paid study leave, and a salary above the award is offered. Regular case discussion, in-house training and daily interactions with specialists in all departments at our hospital will enhance the learning experience during your time with us.

The AEC’s Graduate Development Program is a 2-year intensive internship program designed to cultivate excellence in all aspects of emergency and critical care medicine and surgery.

The GDP is conducted in a supportive and encouraging environment, with clinical supervision and mentorship provided by Membership qualified and experienced emergency and critical care veterinarians.  

The program also involves structured didactic teaching, including practical classes, and training with specialists in the related disciplines of soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, radiology and clinical pathology. The program will also allow the graduate to gain experience in clinical research, scientific presentation and scientific manuscript preparation. The program will meet all internship requirements for those individuals wishing to pursue residency training and would also be greatly beneficial for any graduate wishing to accelerate their learning curve.

AEC Moorabbin is a purpose built, 24-hour Emergency Centre. We have an outstanding team of Vets and Nurses who are knowledgeable, friendly and highly supportive. We practice an exceptionally high standard of care for all our patients.

We are now taking applications for the next intake of our Graduate Development Program. This is a full-time permanent position with an immersion program in small animal emergency and critical care medicine paving the way for a residency, graduate degree study or entry into a high-quality small animal veterinary practice.  The program will provide you with the training and the clinical case exposure to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in small animal emergency and critical care. The position is suitable for a recent graduate or a new graduate of exceptional standards and will commence once a suitable candidate has been found. 

The centre is equipped with gold star equipment including; digital radiographs, in house bloods (CBC, biochemistry, EPOC, PT/APTT), a MyLAB30 gold ultrasound and a VIVID3 cardiac ultrasound, three ventilators including a Puritan Bennet, humidicribs, an oxygen generator, a spacious surgery, a defibrillator and Surgivet, DASH and Cardell monitors.  Our patients are frequently insured and willing to pursue the gold standard of treatment. We have an extensive library of protocols to support you, however critical & lateral thinking and treating each case individually is highly encouraged. We have visiting cardiologists, internal medicine ultrasonographers and a close relationship with both surgical and internal medicine specialists.

We will provide you with five weeks annual leave, one-week CE leave, 10 days personal leave, financial CE support, VIN & Plumb online membership.  Clinical shifts are a combination of days, nights, weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

This position pays a competitive salary of $70,000 per annum + superannuation.

The Adelaide Animal Emergency & Referral Centre (AAERC) is offering an internship in the referral dental department designed to prepare a veterinarian for high-quality service in practice or to progress into advanced training. The primary purpose of an internship is to provide a sound educational program for the intern.

The successful applicant would be prepared to undertake a 12-month commitment to working in the dentistry department in close association with the resident in veterinary dentistry and will play a pivotal role in progressing the department with anaesthesia and dentistry being the key areas of focus.

The position is a full-time position and the working week will be 4 days, working alongside highly skilled nurses and a dental resident. The case load is very varied and ranges from orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontal surgery and oromaxillofacial surgery.

Previous training in dentistry is not specifically required but may be advantageous. A keen eye for detail, an ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team, self-motivation and good communication skills are all integral to success in this area.

The successful applicant will hold or be able to hold full qualifications and ability to be fully registered in the state of South Australia. You will also be able to hold a radiation licence in the state of South Australia. You will have been in general practice for at least 2 years prior to undertaking the role.

You can expect to progress your dental knowledge to a level where you can confidently apply the knowledge to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the oral cavity at a high level. You will have access to an extensive range of equipment including a wide range of dental instruments, intraoral radiography, cone beam tomography, piezoelectric surgical instruments, extensive anaesthetic management and monitoring equipment.

You will have close contact with the dental resident, the medicine resident and two specialist surgeons, as well as access to a 24/7 emergency service.

CAMBRIDGE, WAIKATO - EQUINE INTERNSHIP New Position

EQUINE INTERNSHIP POSITION - 12 month contract beginning August / September 2021

The Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre is seeking applicants for a newly established equine internship programme, commencing in later this year.

The position is for a fixed 12-month term.

You will work as part of our equine team, based at our purpose built hospital near Cambridge. Our team consists of eleven veterinarians, supported by eight nurses and six office staff.

The internship position is primarily hospital based. Caseload is high and varied, including medicine, surgery, some reproduction, lameness and other performance horse work. You will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced group of practitioners with a wide range of skills, including two board-certified surgeons and a surgical resident in training.  

Excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a desired to improve your skills and knowledge as an equine practitioner is a prerequisite.

The position will require some out-of-hours and weekend duties to be shared on a rotating roster. Accommodation, mobile phone expenses and registration fees will be covered, as will CPD expenses. There will be access to a work vehicle for use when on-call for the practice.

Applicants MUST be eligible for registration with the New Zealand Veterinary Council and preferably are already resident of New Zealand to circumvent current COVID related border restrictions. Currently, we have a brilliant internal medicine specialist team consisting of Dr Karina Graham, Dr Amy Pepper and Dr Matteo Bordicchia (registrar) with strong skills in interventional radiology and are looking for full time medicine intern to be a key member of the team. We are complimented by six surgical specialists (USA & UK). We have recently opened our brand-new world class specialist and emergency centre, Advanced Treatment Centre (ATC) and offer a mobile specialist service to our local veterinarians around Sydney.

We hold ourselves to the highest standards and are well-equipped, including in-house 1.5T MRI, a 64 slice CT, mobile digital x-ray, an extensive array of endoscopic equipment and ultrasound including echocardiography. We have a brand-new state-of-the-art Philips Zenition c-arm with new flat screen technology for dramatically less radiation exposure and a diode laser for minimally invasive procedures for our dedicated interventional radiology (IR) department. We enjoy a high case load of IR cases including cystoscopic-assisted laser ablation (CLA) of ectopic ureters, laser-assisted turbinectomies (LATE) for brachycephalic breeds and many other exciting minimally invasive procedures.

North Shore Veterinary Specialist Centre was established in 2001 and is co-located with North Shore Veterinary Hospital. NSVH was built in 1935 and is the longest standing Veterinary hospital on the North Shore of Sydney. We are a 24/7, 365 day a year facility with specialists in internal medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, ophthalmology and dermatology, a dedicated dentistry and exotics service, a bustling and supportive emergency department, as well as a progressive general practice.
  
In 2019 we moved to a brand-new state of the art, purpose-built facility. We have advanced in-house laboratory facilities, comprehensive diagnostic imaging including 2 ultrasound rooms, digital X-ray, a 128 Slice GE CT scanner and are planning for an MRI installation later this year. The Opportunity

NSVSC is looking for an enthusiastic veterinarian with at least one year of experience to join our emergency team for a 12-month internship. This is a great opportunity for motivated veterinarians with an interest in pursuing further emergency training or who intend to sit memberships.
This role is full-time with 1 in 3 weekends – but with days off either side to make up for weekend days worked. The position includes four weeks annual leave and one week conference leave.
