ALBURY, NSW/VIC BORDER - NEW EMERGENCY SERVICE
Albury Animal Hospital – Emergency & Urgent Care (EUC)
After-Hours and emergency veterinarian.
About Us
Albury Animal Hospital is planning to open the only emergency and after hours hospital in the Albury/Wodonga and surrounds area. Our vision is to have an emergency program available for Veterinarians to develop their ECC skill set and provide excellent patient care standards, within a supportive and growing team and business.
We are aiming to start this service in July 2024.
We currently have a well-established GP hospital that has been providing Veterinary services to the community for 5 years. Our local area has been without a local emergency centre/after-hours care since 2021 and we want to step up and establish this side of the veterinary services within our community. Our hospital believes bringing these veterinary services to our area will increase the patient care standards to a level deserving of a large regional city, whose population is more than 100,000 people and their pets. We will be able to provide urgent and emergency care that is time critical, which currently has high risk for transportation mortality or poorer patient outcomes due to the delayed veterinary intervention.
Starting these services is an exciting time of growth for our hospital, and although this service is not established yet, it will be well received by the community and surrounding veterinary professionals alike. Our hospital management is dedicated to providing an employee driven progression in the business, to support growth in this area. We are currently investing in equipment and facilities to ensure our EUC team will have access to all the necessary tools to be able to complete their work efficiently, and effectively, ensuring patient care job satisfaction.

The University’s School of Animal & Veterinary Science is seeking to employ a Veterinarian Clinician in the Companion Animal Health Centre (CAHC) to provide General Practice services and to provide clinical mentoring and guidance to final year veterinary and veterinary technology students.
Whilst this position is aimed at more experienced clinicians, consideration will also be given, at an appropriate level, to new or recent graduates. Any such recent graduates will be provided with a comprehensive training program to help them build into the role.
This position will provide an opportunity to work in a friendly closely-knit team of experienced GP clinicians, supported by specialists and a dedicated team of nursing and support staff. The ECC team provides 24/7 emergency and critical care services for a varied and dynamic caseload of small animal patients and works closely with our general practice veterinarians in delivering a complete service to the local pet-owning community. Our hospital is supported by the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, which is located within the same building. This is often invaluable for fast turnaround of clinical pathology reports and direct contact with pathologists for case discussion.
CAHC forms a part of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) and provides a great environment in which to study for your own ANZCVS membership or similar. Further study and continuing professional development activities are encouraged and supported with time off and up to $3,000 per annum available to spend on your choice of CPD. Other benefits include free full access to international journals through the University Library plus VIN membership.
CAHC is located on the University of Adelaide’s Roseworthy Campus, and is surrounded by great lifestyle opportunities. To be successful you will need:

- Demonstrated veterinary experience in first opinion general practice but recent graduates will be considered.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients and team members.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and experience in assisting, teaching or mentoring others.
