KENMORE, BRISBANE WEST - SMALL ANIMAL MOBILE CONSULT ONLY

CASUAL VETERINARIAN REQUIRED - Consulting only role
SMALL ANIMAL
BRISBANE, QLD

The House Call Vet After Hours service is a unique after-hours house call service covering all areas of Brisbane. We aim to be able to attend all appointment requests within 2 hours and tend to book an appointment every hour to hour and a half.

Remuneration is very lucrative with an hourly rate starting from $85 depending on experience & your tailored remuneration package.

How you’ll impact our mission
Working in a Rehoming Centre, you will enjoy making a difference to the thousands of stray and homeless animals that come through our doors each year.

About the role
You will be joining a small team who work hard but always have time for a laugh. There aren’t many quiet days due to the high number of animals needing AWLQ’s help, but on the flip side there’s no weekend work and very little after-hours.

This role is focused on surgery shifts, so surgery is your passion. You will see a variety of procedures from standard desexing including large dog spays, early age desexing, dentals, x-rays, to entropian, cherry eye, amputations, soft tissue, plus additional surgeries depending on your skill level.

Your new role offers you:

Key Responsibilities

We work tirelessly every day to maintain this promise.

In addition to our shelter work, we are committed to keeping pets and people together by providing lifesaving support and resources to people in need with companion animals. We are known for our grassroots and innovative community-based animal welfare work including our community vet clinics, Getting to Zero, Golden Hearts Seniors’ Support Program and the National Desexing Network.

Why should you join us?
At AWLQ we offer competitive pay and benefits, including access to an independent Employee Assistance Program, retail discounts, vet discounts. Most importantly, every day you’ll play an instrumental role in our lifesaving work.

UNDERWOOD, LOGAN - SMALL ANIMAL/SPECIALIST, NIGHTS

Are you a veterinarian who has a passion for patient care and would like to become an integral part of a genuinely multi-disciplinary team?

Do you enjoy the freedom of afterhours work and the ability to work independently with the support necessary for you to perform at your best?

Most if not all Veterinary practices have become significantly busier over the last 12 months.  We have not been immune to this and are adapting our teams and processes with the aim of delivering the excellent patient care we are known for, while trying to provide our team with the working environment that is sustainable for them.  This is a big challenge!  We need the right people to help us manage our case load, and this has led to a number of new roles being created.

We would like to increase our team size at our hospital located in Underwood to provide overnight and weekend care for our hospitalised patients. These patients will be hospitalised for a variety of conditions and whilst monitoring and treatment for some will be intensive, critical patients will still be managed within the ICU.

About Us
Veterinary Specialist Services is an established Small Animal referral practice in South East Queensland.  This role would be based at our Underwood practice in Brisbane.  We are striving to create an environment where people can do their best work.  We have many things to work on to get there and we are adapting as fast as possible. Our teams are very passionate about delivering patient care and support each other to do it.  We have a very diverse skill set and can offer just about all specialities, diagnostic modalities and therapies across our practice group.  We have residency training programs for vets, in house training programs for nurses and over the years, about 20% of our interns have gone on to become registered Specialists.  We are involved in the industry with wide participation in professional groups, universities, continuing education courses and we have our own conference.  The Underwood hospital specifically has specialists, registrars and residents with training in Internal Medicine, Small Animal Surgery, Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Emergency and Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Animal Physiotherapy.

Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarians. What does that mean to you?

Adrenaline! Cool cases? A team where our motto is, ‘It’s a team sport’, to always having someone there to catch you or ask questions, to getting remunerated as a reflection of your work ethics?

Who are we?

We are mums, dads, recent/new grads, previously GP vets/shelter vets, members of the college, residents & EMMc specialists. We are people who graduated Veterinary Science but wanted more.

Are you interested but perhaps a little uncertain if this exciting opportunity is right for you? We would love to invite you in, behind the doors, to hang with us in ‘the trenches’ to meet us, our Nurses and Client Care Team, to learn more about what we do?

I would like to invite you into our 24-hour emergency hospital, to show case to you, our team, our culture, what we do, and of course, all the ‘toys’. We have referenced treatment guidelines to help you but avoid the idea of treatment protocols as believe that every team member will always do their best to treat each patient and client within their limitations – emotionally and financially.

We are privileged to work alongside the Veterinary Specialist Services Internal Medicine, Surgical, Cardiology, Dermatology and Dentistry Teams.

BRISBANE - SMALL ANIMAL PRIMARY CARE - ALL LEVELS WELCOMENew Graduates welcome

Full time Primary Care Veterinary position – open to New Graduate Vets or Experienced Vets with the chance to learn or practice Ultrasound skills, Body and Cardiac, Advanced Dental Procedures and full Medical condition workups.

Centenary Vets is an incredibly well-equipped Primary Care Hospital. We have grown to 9 Vets (4 full-time, 5 part-time). We staff ourselves well with 4-5 Vets per day with 7-10 procedures performed daily. Our practice employs Vets of varied levels of experience and can accommodate an applicant from a New Graduate to Veterinary Director to a Vet wanting to take a step into Ownership.  This leads to our range of Salary Packages available up to $168 K (inc. super and continuing ed) commensurate with ability. Please contact us to discuss the various requirements for each package.

Our driving philosophy is to Improve Vets' work conditions in areas like remuneration, conditions, happiness, skills with modern Veterinary diagnostic equipment, and meeting the pet care needs of exceptional clients

We have worked hard over the last 7 years to develop a workplace that is designed to support our Vets and provide a job that is “normal”.  We are more interested in Our Veterinary Staff having the support, opportunities and conditions that exist in other professions and can be hard to find in Vet.

Our Staff

All have a desire to make their place of work exceptional and to work with other exceptional people. We encourage Staff to improve their skills and want their Job to mean something.  For Us a stable work environment is key - this is what we staff to and schedule to.

Our Clients

Our clients support a 90% case work-up rate with >50% revisit ratios - makes for a truly unique working environment. There are 30 minute Consults with an occasional 20 minute requirement.  Work pace is planned and the practice is staffed to be run at a steady pace with the occasionally busy period.  Nurse support is exceptional with 1-2 Cert 4 Nurses available per Vet.

Our Workplace

Centenary Vet Hospital works out of new premises built to Hospital accreditation as of August 2015. We have a dedicated positive pressure Surgery and dedicated Dental and Imaging room.   Our clinic is well equipped with all the necessary diagnostics to provide real-time diagnosis - within the last 12 months we have updated digital x-ray technology, Mindray VetusE7 Advanced Ultrasound, IM3 dental, comprehensive in-house laboratory suites and an endoscopy/rhinoscopy/bronchoscopy unit.  We work hard to have an environment that Clients and Staff want to be in.

Our Goals are to improve the Veterinary Landscape

We want to work primarily with Clients that also want accurate diagnosis and treatment.  Our staff (particularly Vets) only work what they are employed to work.  We promote good health support (physical and mental) and aim to improve wages to compete with other industries.

At Centenary Vet Hospital, Veterinary Staff are paid for hours worked; paid market rates well above award; have access to HR and support structures; and we provide whatever is needed to work professionally and happily.  If your current job has too many speys, too difficult a culture, too many difficult Clients, too little support or growth opportunities,  and too few interesting Medical Cases, then this position will suit you.

Just some of the reasons I love working at Bli Bli Vet…

“Awesome supportive team. Everyone gets along well and every week at the meeting we give out positive feedback and chocolates.”

“Heaps of support staff with a consult nurse in all consults allowing vets to focus on the vet things and less on the admin side. This also means we don’t have to go running around the clinic looking for someone to hold when the owner is hopeless…”

“We always get a lunch break and time for follow up calls! The schedule also always has reserve spots to allow for emergency appointments or time for a breather if they don’t get booked. We have no after hours and 2 great emergency/referral centres nearby which are also great to ask for advice.”

“Our clinic has a great standard of care, and compliant clients. We finish at closing time and only open til 6pm or 12pm on Saturdays. And if you do happen to do a bit of overtime (which isn’t much!), you get paid for every hour you work. None of this salary *stuff*.”

STAFFORD, NORTH BRISBANE - SMALL ANIMAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM New Graduates welcome

Dermatology for Animals – Internship programme 2023-24

Established in 1998, Dermatology for Animals provides the veterinary dermatology service within the majority of specialist multi-disciplinary veterinary hospitals in Queensland, as well as providing dermatology referral services to regional centres in Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales. We are now inviting applications for our 2023 intake, with one position available to start in February and another in August. Interns are appointed for an eighteen-month period and are based in south-east Queensland.

Our interns work alongside our specialists, registrars and residents with the aim of providing incumbents with an in-depth understanding of veterinary dermatological skin disease and treatment. Primary case responsibility is not a feature of these positions. The knowledge gained during an internship will be applicable to those seeking to pursue further studies in veterinary dermatology (eg – pursuing residency training with a view to specialisation), and also to those wishing to gain a solid grounding in a discipline that forms approximately 30% of all non-preventative general practice accessions.

Veterinary dermatology is unique amongst referral disciplines in fostering long-term relationships with clients and patients. It’s less about fixing our patients and sending them on their way, and more about managing their issues so that they and their owners can live their best lives. It’s also unique in that dermatology rarely presents with genuine emergencies, and this allows us all to have an enviable work-life balance.

WHAT WE OFFER

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

If you think you might be interested in veterinary dermatology as a career, or just wish to hone your skills in this important discipline, then an internship with Dermatology for Animals may be what you’re looking for. If you would like to explore the opportunities further, please email your application, including a letter of intent and your current CV to:
