Straddie Vet is a small animal clinic located on stunning Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). We opened our doors in late May 2024, to an already loyal client base as the owner had been operating consulting rooms/mobile vet service since early 2014. We are a purpose- built clinic and the first and only facility on the island. Located a short walk from the passenger ferry terminals, we boast state of the art equipment (see below) in a modern, welcoming space. - A Veterinarian with a minimum of 3-5 years’ small animal experience
- 3-4 days each week including Saturdays, with the opportunity to discuss Saturday flexibility.

About the MARS & GARS Oncology Service
The Oncology service is headed up Dr Irina Gramer. Dr Gramer is a highly regarded Oncologist having lead the Oncology Team at the Royal Veterinary College. She is the founder of the Oncology Camp, an educational vehicle to help residents and interns prepare for examination. Irina chairs the ECVIM education committee directly overseeing the training programmes of all ECVIM oncology residents worldwide. She has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and written book chapters in her career as oncologist. Since starting at GARS/MARS in January 2024 Dr Gramer has rapidly developed the Oncology Service with traditional chemotherapy, electrochemotherapy, APAVAC cancer vaccine immunotherapy and plasmid gene therapy. We are looking for an Oncologist to join the team, with time spent at both locations which can be catered to the successful applicant (MARS and GARS hospitals are ~1hr apart).

About You
You will have the following;
- A veterinary degree registerable in Victoria Australia.

The Animal Welfare Veterinarian (Part time - casual) works under the broad supervision and general guidance of the Animal Welfare Veterinarian, as a member of the Animal Welfare Veterinary team in Research Integrity and Ethics Administration (RIEA). They perform tasks independently to deliver against goals. They choose appropriate methods of work and plan and prioritise tasks. They are a subject matter expert and provide advice as the first point of contact for their expert area. They also resolve routine matters related to responsibilities and collaborate with others to resolve complex matters.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- provide assistance, support, and advice as required for day-to-day operations within the animal research space
- provide advice to researchers and ethics committee members on Animal Ethics Applications
- assist the Animal Welfare Veterinarian and the Research Integrity and Ethics Administration (RIEA) team in ensuring compliance of the University with relevant legislation, regulations and contractual requirements
- promote animal welfare and the responsible use of animals in research and teaching across the university in a competent and professional manner that elicits respect and confidence in the academic community
- provide veterinary services to research animals, where necessary under the guidance of the Animal Welfare Veterinarian, including preventative care, diagnostics, disease investigation, treatment, and necropsies. Prepare and submit reports to the Animal Ethics Committees as required
- under the direction and guidance of the Animal Welfare Veterinarian, develop and deliver identified training for researchers, ethics committee members and other relevant staff and students
- under direction of the Animal Welfare Veterinarian schedule and conduct inspections of research facilities including animal facilities and sites, on and off campus and prepare and provide reports for the Animal Ethics Committees

About you
- must possess a veterinary degree to apply
- must be registered as a veterinarian in NSW (or have the ability to become a registered veterinarian in NSW)
- knowledge of the Australian code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes, related policies and an understanding of the regulatory environment governing animal research and teaching, or an ability to acquire this knowledge rapidly if appointed
- experience in veterinary hospital or busy animal practice, providing a range of veterinary services
- experience providing a range of veterinary services in animal research environment (preferred)
- ability to work as a collaborative and cooperative member of a team

The role/Te mahi
As a Clinical Veterinarian you will work in a team to support the Animal Welfare Officer with the provision of a high level of animal care and welfare. You will be providing clinical veterinary advice as well as training staff and students on these practices.

- Preparing and assisting with the implementation of animal care and use systems and services across the University as and when required
- Providing veterinary clinical guidance on animal use protocols and supporting research staff and animal technicians

- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists or a Diplomate status with the American College or the European College that enables registration as a Specialist in Small Animal Emergency & Critical Care in NSW.

- Proven capability in a people management or leadership role
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, influencing, conflict resolution and the building and motivation of a positive team
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, excellent organisational and time management skills and a high attention to detail
- Tertiary qualification in veterinary science preferred
- Experience with EzyVet, SmartFlow, Cubex or Idexx (desirable, but not essential)

Our ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
- Would have at least two years’ experience in a busy general practice; or
- Has completed a 12-month internship in a multidisciplinary practice.
Working under the guidance of our ECC Specialist, Team Leader and Senior Clinician, your roster will enable you to work closely with senior clinicians and specialists to further develop your skills and knowledge. Once comfortable, you would progress to hospital shifts with an increase in caseload management.
We have carefully structured this role to balance day, night and swing shifts on a lifestyle roster which provides ample diversity, and with input from our team. Shifts involve a combination of hospital and consulting shifts. Recovery time is factored in, and this leaves plenty of time for family, friends and exploring the great outdoors in this extraordinary part of Australia!

They will also assist clinicians in other small animal disciplines with case management and assist in undergraduate teaching as clinical instructors.

Veterinary Specialist in in Small Animal Medicine (HEO level 9) is a veterinarian with at least partial responsibility for the management of a unit or division, including the management of a range of staff working within the relevant discipline or sub-discipline, who has, in addition to the requirements for a Registrar position:
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists or a Diplomate status with the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine that enables registration as a Specialist in Small Animal Medicine in NSW.
The commencement level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience and knowledge.

Part-time behaviour vet position
Seeking a part-time vet with interest in veterinary behaviour medicine to join housecall-based behaviour only practice.

Our internships focus on practical skill development that you can apply in your future career. Our Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) department is excited to offer the opportunity of a full-time ECC Consultant to join our purpose-built hospital.
The Hospital
North Shore Veterinary Specialist Centre is one of multiple hospitals in the VetPartners group that has multiple hospitals and clinics throughout Australia. As such there is high out of hours caseload which feeds the ECC referral team. The referral hospital is multidisciplinary with referral services in surgery and internal medicine.

Qualifications / Responsibilities
RSPCAPNG is seeking to employ a full time Senior Veterinarian to be part of our Vet Team, to meet the needs of our expanding access to care and increasing capacity for services. We value a professional demeanour and appearance, as well as a candidate with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive friendly attitude. We see the entire spectrum of clients throughout our operation, so a respectful and willing approach to work with clients to find solutions to meet the pet’s needs is critical.
Our operations run Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, and Saturdays 8am to 2pm. The schedule would be shared among the Veterinarians, as this the only public veterinary facility in Port Moresby it can mean attending emergencies after hours, weekends and holidays on occasion.
You will be responsible for shared day-to-day case management of the clinic patients, shelter animals, pound animals, and out of town patients. Additionally, you oversee the veterinary support staff, training and mentoring them as well as ensuring the administrative policies and decisions are followed. Your position also involves the promotion of the RSPCAPNG welfare activities.

- A veterinary degree from an accredited university

RICHMOND, INNER CITY ADELAIDE, SA - AVIAN/EXOTICS
The Adelaide Bird & Exotics Vet Centre opened in Richmond in March 2016. Due to the increasing demand by owners for vets able to care for their unusual pets, we require a full-time veterinarian to assist in the provision of both primary accession and referral veterinary services. A part time role will also be considered for the right candidate.
Our patients include birds (30%), reptiles (20%), small mammals (40%) and wildlife (10%), so a wide variety of species are seen. Our clients travel from both Adelaide as well as from regional South Australia. The vision of the ABEVC is to provide a high level of veterinary care for our valued bird, reptile and mammal patients.
The vet clinic has digital radiography, endoscopy, ultrasonography, dental equipment and in-house laboratory facilities. The surgery suite is equipped with advanced monitoring, ventilator and electrosurgery. The nursing staff are easy-going and attentive to patient care.
The successful candidates ideally have at least 12 month’s experience, but new graduates with an interest in exotics are encouraged to apply. The candidate will have the intent to achieve Memberships in ANZCVS in the coming years and will be mentored. Prior experience with exotics is preferred but not critical. However, demonstration of a passion to work with these species is a must and to undertake ongoing education, including journal rounds. Good client communication and time management is essential in this role as the clinic is busy. Renumeration begins at award rates and is commensurate with experience with exotic pets. CPD allowance is provided. There is no after-hours work and the weekend roster is shared.

About the opportunity
This is a clinically focused position with a focus on clinical service and teaching joining the team of small animal surgeons that make up the surgical referral service at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Sydney (UVTHS). Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (HEO level 9) who is a veterinarian with at least partial responsibility for the management of a unit or division, including the management of a range of staff working within the relevant discipline or sub-discipline, who has:
- a degree in veterinary science registrable in New South Wales, Australia
- a diplomate ECVS or Diplomate ACVS or Fellowship of the ANZCVS permitting registration with the NSW Veterinary Scientists Board as a Specialist in small animal surgery

The Role
The key purpose of this role is to provide high-quality veterinary care to animals at The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University. This role is a 0.5 FTE (two days per week) position primarily focussed on providing primary care to horses in an ambulatory setting. This position focuses on building strong client relationships to develop a sustainable caseload, ensuring consistent and quality care. A key aspect of the role is to offer primary accession cases for student exposure, contributing to their hands-on learning experience. The vet will primarily work in an ambulatory setting, with no after-hours expectations, and will have access to specialist backup and hospital care when needed.
What you’ll bring to this role
- Veterinary degree registrable by the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board of Western Australia.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a veterinary practice, post qualification.
- Excellent organisational, time and workload management skills, including the ability to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.
- Highly effective communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, and the demonstrated ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organisation.

REMOTE, AUSTRALIA-WIDE - EQUINE EXPERIENCE, CLIMATE CARE PROGRAM MANAGER New Position
Program Development Manager (with Equine experience) - Flexible Location
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity for an equine veterinarian, vet nurse, or other industry professional to work on an exciting new project which will engage with the equine community to reduce the impact of equine medicine and horse ownership on the environment, and contribute to a sustainable future for much-loved our equine companions.
Vets for Climate Action has created an online program, the Climate Care Program, which provides practical steps and knowledge to integrate sustainable solutions into busy veterinary practices. This online Program comprises an introductory module and 6 self paced sequential content based modules, each addressing a different sustainability topic: water, energy, waste, procurement, renewables and chemicals in practice. It includes the first Carbon Calculator designed specifically for the Australian veterinary market.
We have had considerable interest from equine practitioners however the Program needs specific equine enhancements to expand its appeal in the equine veterinary community.
We have funding for a part-time role (2 - 3 days per week) for 2 years (flexible location) to build on the success of the Climate Care Program, and create and develop an Equine version to engage specifically with equine vets and clientele. The completed Program will provide practical ways for the equine veterinary profession to provide more sustainable veterinary care, and educate and inspire horse and pony owners to adopt more environmentally sustainable practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic planning: Collaborate with key staff and volunteers in developing a strategic plan and product development roadmap that ensures the successful delivery and development of the Equine Climate Care Program - from high level strategic vision to details such as tracking outcomes, budgeting and managing partners. This role requires both leadership and hands-on work.
- Course Content Creation, Testing and Delivery: Take responsibility for:
- Creation, user acceptance testing and delivery of the Equine Program content - includes facilitated virtual face to face learning and instructional content delivered via a learning management system (LMS) for asynchronous engagement (The program is based upon the concept of teaching, training and empowering cohorts of around 10 individuals in an online format).
- Development of support material and community building environments delivered via the VfCA/CCP website, social media channels and other relevant platforms.
- Product Life Cycle Management: Devise a strategy for the long-term sustainability and relevance of the program - includes creation of content-based marketing materials (case studies, testimonials), delivery of instructional and technical content updates and administration of all content delivery platforms
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with key staff, contractors, subject matter experts and volunteers in developing networks and partnerships across the equine veterinary profession, equine industry and community. Facilitate meetings as required.
- Donor Engagement: Build and steward strong relationships with the individual donors who are investing in this project and ensure their ongoing engagement.
- Advocacy: Collaborate with key staff to ensure the learning objectives and outcomes of the Equine Climate Care Program helps to make sustainability and climate change a dominant issue within the veterinary profession.
ABOUT YOU
- Equine experience: You are a veterinarian, vet nurse, or other industry professional with experience working in and with the equine community.
- A “people-person”: You have excellent people and relationship building skills. A willingness to get ‘out and about’ and engage with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Goal-focused: You’re able to set goals, plan how to work towards them and achieve them.
- Project Management, Planning and Organisation - You have strong organisational skills and can plan, organise and deliver tasks and projects to deadlines. You always ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Communication: You have excellent written and oral communication skills and you’re able to adapt your communication styles to best suit different individuals and audiences.
- Initiative: You can work autonomously, demonstrate initiative and problem solve. You’re able to understand Vets for Climate Action’s Strategic Plan and see opportunities to achieve it.
- Curiosity. You’re curious in your approach and enjoy learning about new technical expertise (such as community engagement principles), concepts (such as campaign strategy) and communities (such as the veterinary community or climate change movement).
- Digital Literacy and Data Management: You have a good level of general digital literacy (we use a variety of digital platforms), a fast learner who can quickly learn and implement a variety of online community engagement tools.
- Leadership. You enjoy leading and inspiring others to achieve goals.
- Passion: You have a genuine passion for climate action and desire to work with the veterinary community.

No previous experience working in the not-for-profit sector is required — although of course it’s great if you do bring this! Your experience within the equine community will be a valuable asset.

This newly created position is for a permanent full-time veterinarian (although part-time will be considered) to join their Mintaro team, where they manage the health and welfare of the Company’s sheep flocks and working dogs. Previous experience with animal production systems, quality management systems, or quality assurance is highly regarded.
This exciting role will give you the opportunity to:
- perform health testing, disease monitoring and treatment of disease conditions, from both the individual animal and flock health perspectives
- contribute to the maintenance of a strategic health and welfare management plan
- get involved with training employees in relation to animal health and welfare issues
- manage the preventative care and treatment of company working dogs
- develop your interest in sheep medicine, animal welfare, pathophysiology, nutrition, sustainable farming practices, and/or pasture management
A degree or equivalent qualification in Veterinary Science is required, accompanied by an interest in sheep production or sheep health management. All applicants must be eligible for registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of South Australia (VSBSA).
The role has minimal sole charge, and very limited after hours – no weekday after hours, and weekends are 1:3 rota, day duties only (i.e. approximately 3 hours each weekend morning providing phone support and occasional duties requiring a vet to attend site).
This role is complemented by a remarkable work location – the beautiful Clare Valley in South Australia (1.5hrs from Adelaide). You will be working 15 minutes from a large regional centre, surrounded by the fantastic wineries and restaurants the region is known for. This opportunity provides you with a unique chance to gain experience with the health management of livestock in a commercial setting and develop an understanding of quality management systems, while contributing to the supply chain of lifesaving pharmaceutical products.
