MALENY, SUNSHINE COAST HINTERLAND - MIXED

Veterinarian

  • Mixed animal practice
  • Full time – four day week
  • Rotating weekend roster

Maleny Veterinary Services is a family-owned mixed practice located in the magnificent hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. We are spoilt with lovely clients, gorgeous countryside and a great proximity to both Brisbane and the beaches of the Sunshine Coast.

We are an independent, well-established and highly respected practice with clients comprised of companion animals (80%) plus a variety of large animal work including cattle, alpacas, pigs, sheep and horses.

Our team is a friendly bunch of 22ish staff members including seven vets, ten super-nurses and an awesome support crew. Our practice philosophy is one of providing outstanding, old-fashioned service coupled with the pursuit of excellence in what we do. We look after each other, knowing that without a strong team, we can’t do our job well.

With one of our vets departing the team to move north, we are seeking an experienced veterinarian to jump on in. Is it you?! The right person is a friendly, qualified veterinary surgeon who can help service our caseload. With our existing vets ranging in experience from 1 year right through to 30+ years, we are ideally looking for someone with at least a year or two under their belts who wants a new challenge in a supportive team where professional growth and peer support are highly valued.

The remuneration package and benefits are negotiable, dependent on experience. As a guide, our other full time vets receive a competitive base salary plus super, on-call and laundry allowances, after-hours payments, plus a continuing education allowance. The annual holiday allowance is four weeks, with an additional week of paid study leave per year after your first year of employment with us.

The work environment is open, friendly and supportive and veterinarians are encouraged to collaborate on cases whenever possible. We strive to practise the highest quality medicine and surgery and there is ample scope for our veterinarians to develop their skills and special interests.

Equipment on hand in the practice includes dental machines, ultrasound, in-house IDEXX lab, Vetscan Imagyst, tonometer, etc. The relative proximity to Sunshine Coast also allows referral to specialist centres when required.

Please click here to see photos! photos

We’re a particularly good-humoured, tenacious bunch and there are days that we forget that what we’re doing is supposed to be ‘work’. But don’t just take our word for it – we encourage applicants to speak to the vets currently working here to discuss their experiences!

If you share our philosophy and dedication to animal care, have great communication and organisation skills AND a ridiculous sense of humour, we look forward to hearing from you.

Please send your resume to our Practice Manager Amanda Fea at manager@malenyvet.com.au

  • As the above indicates, you don’t need to be the next world leader in veterinary science; you just need to enjoy being a vet – simple!
  • The ability to work some weekends although most of the work is Monday-Friday.
  • Weekly hours are negotiable if it suits the business and the applicant.
  • Potential start date: January 2025

What is the down side?

  • We are busy and we enjoy what we do. Is that bad? We don’t think so, but it does mean sometimes lunch may get pushed back (you always get it) or you stay back a little bit after your scheduled finish time to help the team.
  • We believe that the busy times and the emergency cases are some of the best learning opportunities and rewarding patients you can see.

Who We Are

  • Park Ridge Animal Hospital and Browns Plains Vet Surgery are independently owned and family run businesses. We have recently taken on two partners who were long standing vets furthering our commitment to stay locally owned.
  • A team of 51 dedicated people working hard to give our clients and their pets’ great care and customer service.
  • Offer seven day a week care so we have good continuity with our patient care.
  • We believe in regular meetings and staff training – scheduled monthly half–day meetings and daily mini-meetings.
  • Strong history of long-term vet associate vets. We will work together to ensure you want to stay with us so we can develop and grow together.
  • To get a feel of who we are and are we work, check us out at www.parkridgevet.com.au and our Facebook page.

Here’s what a vet who recently joined the team has to say:

“I joined the Park Ridge Animal Hospital team in mid-2020. PRAH was highly recommended by multiple people - both general practice and specialists prior to me joining. The team was very welcoming and is extremely supportive. You have the ability to work up both surgical and medical cases to a high degree and most importantly you have dedicated time in the day to do this (instead of needing to do them between consults etc). They value your mental health and this is evident in multiple ways. Continuing education and progression is at the forefront of conversations as well, and they’re keen to see you excel in the veterinary profession. The nursing and support staff are trustworthy and skilled, which helps you to be able to focus on managing your case load. The rosters are done a couple months in advance, so this helps to have a positive work life balance. If you’re looking for a supportive team, interesting cases, thoughtful management and a workplace you look forward to coming into each day, then Park Ridge Animal Hospital is the veterinary hospital for you.”

HOW TO APPLY:

Please address your application to Tania Wyndham and email a cover letter and resume to tania@parkridgevet.com.au or feel free to contact Dr Nigel Thomas on 0402 044 430 or Dr Sasha Savage on 0418 870 930 if you would like more information.

BROADBEACH, GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMAL

Permanent Full Time Position, GOLD COAST.

ASAV Accredited Hospital of Excellence.

Do you want to practice vet science the way you always dreamt it would be?

Come and work in a family owned, independent clinic that is the Gold Coast’s only ASAV accredited Hospital of Excellence, and experience the difference…

We believe that working with dedicated pet owners who have the financial capacity and enthusiasm to say yes to our recommendations is key to practising rewarding veterinary science. Over the last 18 years our family owned practice has focused on achieving this – we have actively promoted and encouraged pet insurance and we now have a very high percentage of insured pets, consistently one of the highest in the country according to industry benchmarking surveys that we participate in. We are also blessed to work in a very good socioeconomic area where people seek out the best possible care for their pets and we have worked hard on attracting and retaining these types of clients. As a result we have very few of those dreaded financial discussions with owners, get the opportunity to treat a wide variety of conditions and feel the satisfaction of seeing patients have an improved quality of life.

Over the years our clinic has built a reputation of caring and excellence in patient outcomes and we have built a client base that trust us. This leads to both personal satisfaction and job satisfaction and improved overall wellbeing for all of our team. And a successful team is a happy team. It doesn’t happen by chance, but we work hard to create a pleasant working environment with a good team culture. We only employ Cert IV qualified vet nurses & Vet Techs so that you can trust in their abilities and let nurses do genuine patient nursing, freeing you up to focus on vet tasks. With a multi-vet team, on only one site, and two very experienced clinic owners who are always happy to mentor and support you, we strive to provide a very supportive environment. We will always back our team and step in to help resolve any client complaints or concerns, leaving you free to focus on your clinical work.

To achieve good clinical outcomes you not only need a supportive environment, but one needs good facilities and up to date, quality equipment. As the Gold Coast’s only ASAV accredited Hospital of Excellence you can rest assured that we are well equipped with all the toys needed to achieve good clinical outcomes. Being accredited means that all that we say about ourselves is not just marketing catch phrases. Our records, protocols, equipment and standards have all been independently assessed and found to meet the accreditation standards, and every 4 years we have been independently inspected. Not only do our building facilities have to be up to scratch, but there is a stringent list of expected equipment that we are required to have and keep well maintained, and it is a given that we are also expected to look after our team.

Please click here to see photos! photos

But to join our team you don’t have to be a “superstar vet” - none of us are perfect, so please don’t expect that of us! We are looking for a dedicated vet who strives to do their best, who shows empathy and believes that compassion and client communication are key to successful outcomes. We want a vet who wants the support to keep on improving, no matter what stage of their career they are at. At Gold Coast Vet Surgery we pride ourselves on offering good support and mentorship. Not only is CPD is encouraged and funded, but our package includes membership of Lincoln Institute’s “Leading Edge” program and access to VIN. Your opinion will be considered and your contributions truly appreciated. As a compassionate, family orientated business you will work alongside the owners who understand your workload and challenges and there is no corporate head office to deal with.

As a family owned, independent practice we pride ourselves on our family friendly approach. Not only are our team a part of our family, but we also view our clients as a part of the extended Gold Coast Vet Surgery family. We value a healthy lifestyle as well as being great vets, so there are no after hours or Sunday work and family friendly business hours (8am – 5:30pm Mon to Fri and 8:30am – 12pm on Saturdays). We have a referral hospital and two after hours emergency centres on the Gold Coast (soon to be two referral hospitals & three after hours centres!) which means that despite not working after hours ourselves, you’ll still have the peace of mind that your patients will be very well cared for after hours.

If you strive to provide the best care that you can for your patients, enjoy making a difference in people’s experience at the vet, and are proud to provide great customer service as part of a fun team, then this is the position for you. Our practice attracts clients who expect and appreciate a caring, thorough and yet practical approach. If you are looking for job satisfaction, like to work up cases and like to develop a personal relationship and rapport with your clients, then you will flourish in our “family”.

Our lovely vet, who is sadly leaving to return to the UK, said that “This is the best practice that I have ever worked in. I love that the schedule is so well managed to give you enough time with the clients, time & support to work up cases and enough time to write up your notes and still leave on time at the end of the day with everything done.”

To develop, grow and progress your career to become the best vet that you can be, apply now by emailing Dr Kevin & Dr Fiona Cruickshank at: vet@goldcoastvet.com.au with your resume and a covering letter outlining why this is the position for you. If you are the right fit for our team you may be very pleasantly surprised with what we are offering.

Absolute confidentiality is assured.

GOLD COAST - SMALL ANIMALS

Are you looking for something better? Thinking about a change of scenery? Want to be surrounded by people who love what they do? Keep reading as we may have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are looking for an exceptional veterinarian to join our team.

Happy Paws Veterinary Clinic is a privately owned small animal clinic located in the northern end of the Gold Coast, opened in 2017 by Dr Vanessa.

"My why: Since graduating in 1999 I have worked in a variety of independently owned and corporate practices throughout Canada, UK and Australia. I dreamt of a clinic where 30 minute consultations would be considered standard in order to deliver exceptional service, be thorough and still have enough time to develop a relationship with the clients. A clinic where they embrace team culture based on respect and integrity, working alongside people who share a true passion for their job and enjoy coming to work, where mistakes were viewed as learning opportunities and feedback is welcomed. 7 years on, not only has this dream come true but we have become bigger and better with a recently completed expansion to the clinic! The expansion includes a separate cat entrance, waiting room, consult rooms and cat ward. A separate dental suite and a large imaging room." – Dr Vanessa Escott
