Southern Animal Health is seeking an Veterinary Nurse and Receptionist to join our team in Cheltenham, Victoria. This is a full-time position that will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and customer service to our clients and their beloved pets.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting veterinarians with medical procedures and patient care
- Performing various nursing duties, including administering medication, monitoring patients, placing IV catheters, taking bloods, pre- and post-operative care, animal pathology, emergency care and critical care and maintaining a clean and organised treatment area
- Handling client inquiries and bookings in a friendly and professional manner
- Managing the reception area, including answering phone calls, greeting clients, and processing payments
- Maintaining accurate patient records and schedule and coordinating the flow of information between the veterinary and nursing teams
- Coordinate surgical schedules by allocating procedures to vets and providing estimated timeframes to the team
- Manage hospital admissions and discharges, ensuring thorough communication with clients and seamless patient transitions
- Promoting the health and wellbeing of our animal patients through client education and support
- General administration duties and associated tasks
- Along with the wider nursing team, oversee social media management, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement to support clinic visibility and client communication.
What we're looking for
- A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience, ideally in a veterinary or animal-related setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, veterinarians, and team members
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with a keen eye for detail
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing the highest standard of care
- Flexibility in shift changes (when needed), weekend and public holiday availability
