The Wild Vet Animal Hospital, Glebe, Inner West Sydney (posted 12th August)
Experienced Veterinary Nurse
About Us
The Wild Vet Animal Hospital is an exotic pet, wildlife, and small animal veterinary hospital based in Sydney's Glebe, just across the road from the beautiful Blackwattle Bay foreshore walk.
We see an enormous variety of domestic pets, from cats and dogs to rabbits, parrots, pythons, fish, and dragons. With frequent wildlife care on top of our routine consults and cases, no two days are the same.
The Wild Vet is not your average vet hospital. If you’re looking to be a part of a team that cares for possums, echidnas, lorikeets, and bin chickens as much as the frequent flier Frenchie, you’re in the right place! We are looking for a nurse to be a part of our team that is environmentally focused, strives to provide gold standards of care for all patients, has a high attention to detail, and is friendly and inclusive.
We know the “exotics” part of this can be daunting if you don’t have much experience outside of dog and cat nursing, but we strongly encourage nurses with dog/cat-only experience to apply! If you have an interest in exotics and are keen to learn, a lot of the new skills you’ll need can be trained on the job.
About The Role
You will be joining our team as a permanent full-time nurse working a 39 hour week inclusive of paid 30-minute lunch breaks across four days, and the occasional Public Holiday shift. Depending on experience and availability, a part-time role or casual can also be discussed. This role will be focused on gold standards of patient care, and you will be working in a team that has a varied caseload, with a strong emphasis on wildlife care and treatment.
About You
You are *that* nurse.
You know, the one that goes the extra mile for their patients, and cares about every single one as if they were their own pet. You’ve got your Cert IV in nursing along with (ideally) at least three years’ experience under your belt, and you’re looking for a clinic that prioritises the care of every animal that walks/slithers/bounds through the door. You may not have a heap of experience with exotics, but it’s something that interests and excites you! You want to find a team that has a great sense of humour, gets along with one another, and delivers awesome patient care every day of the week.
You’ve worked with EzyVet before (or are keen to learn the ropes), and your client communication is top notch, and you’re comfortable giving hospital and surgical updates to pet parents. You have a bright personality and a smile on your face even when the day gets a bit hectic. You prioritise excellent customer service, and work efficiently in a team as well as showing initiative when working alone.
Job Perks
- Bring your dog/bird/cat/dragon/whatever to work policy so you don't have to leave your loved ones at home
- Generous work/life balance (3 weekdays and every Saturday)
- Nespresso machine with every milk option in the fridge!
- Nap couch
- Well-stocked snack draw
- A supportive work environment with an amazing team of vets & nurses
The key roles and responsibilities for this role include:
- Surgical nursing, with high competency in anaesthetic monitoring, experience with exotic and wildlife anaesthetics is a bonus
- Medical nursing, including scheduled treatments, phlebotomy and catheter placement
- Experience (or a keen willingness to learn) with exotics patients, including reptiles, birds, amphibians, rabbits and guinea pigs
- Cleaning and packing surgical kits and instruments
- Nurse consultations, including dental checks, nutrition consultations, and new pet checks
- Use of Vet Radar to assess and document patient care
- Diagnostic testing using in-house Abaxis equipment
- Admission and discharge of patients
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to triage tasks and patients
- General organisation of the clinic
- High standard of personal presentation and punctuality
- Experienced use of Ezy Vet preferred
This amazing role is ready to fill immediately, but we are happy to be patient for the perfect candidate. Salary will be commensurate with experience. And if part time is more your vibe, give us a call and have a chat.
If this sounds like your dream role, send your CV and a cover letter to our practice manager, Kara, at: admin@thewildvet.com.au
If you’d like some more info or to have a confidential chat about the position, pick up the phone and dial 1300 945 383 and ask to speak with Kara.

Concord Veterinary Hospital, Inner West Sydney (posted 15th July)
Our team is growing – so we are on the lookout for a veterinary nurse to join us! We are a busy, well established small animal veterinary hospital in Sydney's Inner West – with a strong patient focus. We have long believed that if we take care of our patients, everything else takes care of itself.
About the role:
This role can be adapted to suit our ideal candidate.
Are you a junior nurse looking to take a few steps up in your career? Are you already experienced but want to try something different – in a role that will challenge your skills? Or have you recently qualified, or soon to qualify, and are looking for your first role within the industry?
For the ideal candidate, we would even consider a veterinary nurse who is towards the end of their studies, but not yet finished; if you have three days per week free, but you need to study/attend TAFE on the other two – don't hesitate to apply. In our experience, veterinary nurses with less experience often make the best kind of nurses!
We all know there are some great parts about veterinary nursing (placing IV's, being involved with challenging anaesthetics, seeing patients who presented very unwell, then after a stay in hospital they go home well) and some less-great parts of the job ("someone has done something in this room I can smell it… oh, there it is… and he has walked through it…") – but by far and away this role is about having a positive impact on the lives of your patients.
You are our eyes and ears – and as a result we rely heavily on you to improve outcomes for our patients. Our vets actively listen to nurses – never discounting what you have to say. There is no "us-vs-them" attitude at Concord Veterinary Hospital – because after all, YOU are the ones spending the most time with our patients; YOU are the ones who pick up that every time we offer Fluffy some chicken, she lip smacks and turns her head. YOU notice that little bit of extra blood in a patient's surgical recovery cage. YOU notice the MAP has been dropping steadily for the last 10 minutes of anaesthesia. We rely on you.
To fill this position - the veterinary nursing role at Concord Veterinary Hospital is less about what you can and can't do, what you have and haven't done, the experience you may or may not have; it is about your attitude towards improving the care and welfare of all of our patients. This role is about attitude over aptitude, an eagerness to learn, and a passion for the industry.
About you:
You care about your patients. You are committed to providing the best veterinary nursing care you can and improving patient outcomes. You love seeing patients go home after a big procedure or prolonged hospital stay. You like getting to know clients and seeing how pet ownership enriches their lives.
You may be experienced or freshly qualified or soon to be qualified. You can work 3 or more shifts per week (full-time or permanent part-time). You have a positive can-do attitude and a willingness to learn. You want to be part of a happy team, feel supported by the practice partners, all for the same goal of helping our patients. You have a high emotional intelligence, would like a drama-free workplace, and have an excellent work ethic.
About the hospital:
We punch well above our weight for a medium size practice, and we have never rested on our heels. Some examples of our continuing efforts to strive to do better include being at the forefront of FIP treatment worldwide, consistently upgrading equipment to assist us better our skills, and stepping out of our comfort zone with surgical cases when the opportunity presents itself. We have a longstanding professional relationship with The Cat Protection Society of NSW and this forms a large part of our day-to-day work – enabling us to add to our already varied and interesting caseload.
We have all the usual toys: in-house IDEXX suite, IM3 dental machines with dental radiology, recently renovated surgical suite, digital x-ray (DR), new ultrasound machine, Ligasure, ETCO2, transfusion equipment, Tonovet and more.
Obligatory dangling of carrots:
- There are no rostered weekends and no after hours; the clinic closes at 6pm.
- Salary is above award, initially commensurate with experience, and reviewed regularly.
If this sounds like you – please send your CV and cover letter to concordvets@concordvets.com.au Attn: Dr Rebecca Brady.

If you’re an experienced veterinary nurse searching for a supportive, Fear Free Certified Practice that puts patients, people, and purpose at the centre of everything — keep reading.
At Rouse Hill Family Vets, we’re a small animal hospital that’s big on heart. Our team is trained in Fear Free techniques to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress in every patient we see — and if you’re not yet certified, we’ll cover your training and certification to get you there.
We’re looking for someone who brings the right attitude above all else. If you’re kind, curious, emotionally intelligent, and eager to grow — this might be your dream role.
ABOUT YOU
You’re confident, compassionate, and committed to learning.
You love animals and people — and know the secret to great care is in the way you treat both.
You’ve got at least 1 year of experience and your Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (non-negotiable).
You’re a strong communicator who can explain preventative care and wellness plans clearly — helping clients understand their pet’s needs and feel confident booking the right services.
You take initiative, give and receive feedback well, and are ready to grow in a practice that values your contribution.
You’re not afraid of a challenge and you’re always up for a laugh.
You thrive in a team that values connection, kindness, trust, safety, and inclusivity.
This full-time role reports directly to our Veterinary Nurse Manager, Charlotte, and works closely with our experienced and supportive team.
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You’ll support our patients and clients through:
- Assisting vets in consults and running independent nurse appointments (e.g. dental checks, puppy/kitten consults, arthritis injections, weight clinics, and more)
- Preparing, admitting and discharging surgical patients
- Monitoring anaesthesia (under veterinary supervision)
- Placing IV catheters, collecting blood, and administering medications
- Running in-house pathology and taking radiographs (including dental)
- Providing care for hospitalised patients
- Maintaining equipment and supporting the day-to-day flow of the clinic
- Helping clients understand the ‘why’ behind preventative and wellness care — and confidently guiding them to book the services their pet needs
WHAT YOU’LL GET WHEN YOU JOIN OUR TEAM
🧡 Structured Training & Mentorship
Start with our 6-week induction program with built-in mentoring. We close the clinic every Wednesday afternoon for whole-team training — from clinical workshops to guest speakers and team meetings.
🧡 Fear Free Certification & AVNAT Registration
We cover the cost of your Fear Free Certification and AVNAT registration — because we believe in setting the standard and supporting professionalism in our field.
🧡 Continuing Education
You’ll receive a paid week of study leave annually and an allowance to support your professional development.
🧡 A Supportive, High-Fun Team Culture
From escape rooms and yoga sessions to camping and party boats — we take our fun seriously. Quarterly team building and regular celebrations keep us connected.
🧡 Above-Award Pay & Benefits
- Generous staff discounts
- Higher Saturday pay rates
- Closed public holidays and Christmas–New Year break
🧡 Room to Grow
We’ve mapped out clear career development pathways so you can advance your skills and carve out a fulfilling long-term role.
🧡 Non-Corporate, Values-Driven Culture
We’re proudly independent — and one of only a handful of Fear Free Certified Practices in Australia. That means Fear Free care isn’t just something we dabble in — it’s embedded into everything we do.
Unlike clinics where only a few individuals have completed certification, our entire team (vets, nurses, and client care) has been trained in Fear Free techniques.
We’ve also met strict requirements around our environment, handling protocols, and commitment to ongoing education — all designed to reduce fear, anxiety, and stress for every patient, every visit.
WHO WE ARE
Rouse Hill Family Vets provides circle-of-life care, from puppyhood to peaceful goodbyes.
We believe prevention is better than cure. And that happy, stress-free pets start with supported, empowered veterinary teams.
We take care of each other, show up for our clients, and make a difference when it matters most.
READY TO JOIN US?
If you’re a Cert IV nurse with the right attitude and a passion for Fear Free care, we’d love to hear from you.
