About the role:
- Full time/ part time qualified or experienced veterinary nurse (Cert IV preferred but not essential).

- Maintaining the overall hygiene of the practice, including surgical areas and equipment.
- Completing general practice nursing tasks, including pre- and post-operative care, in-house pathology (blood testing, urinalysis), caring for hospitalised patients.
- Reception duties on a rotating basis - including talking to clients/ discussing patients over the telephone and in person, scheduling appointments, admitting and discharging patients
- We offer nurse consults including Cartrophen injections, Cytopoint injections, weight clinics etc.

The Village Vet in Downer, Canberra is a purpose built, modern, 6-year-old clinic with a loyal clientele base located within the trendy Inner North of Canberra. We are locally owned and not associated with a corporate company. We have wonderful clients who are keen to pursue full diagnostics to work up their pets’ medical or surgical conditions.
- We have a fully comprehensive onsite Heska laboratory suite - including a haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis machine, EPOC emergency blood gases and an excellent, fully serviced Binocular Microscope.
- We have Advanced Multi-Parameter monitoring equipment including Doppler Blood Pressure monitor, Bair Huggers, Capnographs etc.
- We use a top of the range IM3 Dental Scaler & Polisher unit and have a mobile Digital Radiography for our dental procedures.
- The clinic has a purpose-built radiography & ultrasound room including digital CR radiographic facilities and a recently acquired ultrasound machine.
- We are a registered member of the Animal Poisons Centre with easy access to a large database of poisons allowing us to immediately treat toxicity cases.
Our Staff:
- We have 6 qualified Veterinary Nurses and 2 dedicated receptionists who are caring, supportive and are an amazing team.
- We have 6 Vets all of whom have special interests including – soft tissue surgery, dermatology, feline & canine medicine, imaging – ultrasound etc.
- We encourage our Vet Nurses to be pro-active, place i/v lines, take blood, contribute to the hospital.
- We share 1 in 4 Saturday mornings only working 9am – 1pm.
- We have no after hours, as we are fortunate that Canberra has 2 fantastic emergency / overnight clinics.
- We run Puppy Preschool weekly.

The primary role of this position is to provide a high level of care to both medical and surgical patients.
