Canberra Racetrack and Equestrian Services, Lyneham (posted 19th August) Equine VN
Equine Veterinary Nurse (surgical)
Canberra Racetrack and Equestrian Services (CRES) is currently seeking an equine veterinary nurse with anaesthesia experience to join our newly established equine clinic in Canberra. Canberra is a large city with a population of approximately 500,000 located less than 3hours from Sydney and 2 hours from the coast and the snow. The city itself has undergone a transformation in recent years and boasts first class restaurants, schools and educational, cultural and sporting facilities.
The Practice
CRES is a well established practice with a large client base in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia which has recently acquired the infrastructure previously known as Canberra Equine Hospital from corporate ownership. This exciting opportunity allows for exponential potential as we are reopening the surgical facilities, inpatient care and lameness diagnosis using the existing premises. The clinic is located adjacent to Canberra Racetrack (known as Thoroughbred Park). We currently service clients at the Canberra and nearby Queanbeyan racetracks as well as several equestrian centres and these can be referred into the clinic for further workups. The practice is fully equipped with a full surgical suite, exam rooms, hospital boxes, knock down boxes, trot up pad, digital X-ray, ultrasound, portable and video endoscope, gastroscope, shockwave and thermography.
The equine nurse will be supported by 4 experienced equine vets (memberships and fellowships in radiology, medicine, surgery and equine practice) as well as ancillary staff.
The Position
An equine nurse (cert IV) with an interest and experience in anaesthesia would be advantageous. The role will over see the patients in the hospital 5 days per week with office and surgical duties. There will be limited after hours. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience with annual CPD offered and accommodation on site is available.
The practice is a subsidiary of the Crown Group which has similar practices in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast. Clients include highly respected racing identities and FEI registered competition horses and venues.
The Practice is an Academic Associate Practice with the University of Melbourne, and in addition has veterinary students seeing practice from international veterinary schools as well as the other Universities in Australia.
