Our Head Nurse is heading to Australia in February next year, opening a position at the Balclutha Branch of Clutha Vets.  The small animal department of Clutha Vets is an important part of this larger mixed practice.  We see a varied mix of pets and working farm dogs.  Clutha Vets is a great place to work, with good facilities and a happy team. 

This is a full-time position with rostered afterhours work.  Ideally the successful applicant will be enthusiastic and cheerful, have a Veterinary Nursing qualification and some years of experience.  The role will include an administrative component and good personnel skills are required.  This job is suited to an experienced Vet Nurse looking to advance their career.  The start time is negotiable but preferably late January 2012 to allow an overlap.

Veterinary Nurse

The Wellington SPCA currently has a vacancy for an experienced veterinary nurse at the Newtown Centre. This is your chance to make a positive difference in the community by being an integral part of a highly-respected Wellington icon.

Reporting to the Practice manager / Senior veterinary nurse, this role will primarily focus on the provision of assistance to the veterinary surgeon both before, during and after procedures. The veterinary care team based at the Newtown Shelter provides for a wide range of animals, both in the care of the Wellington SPCA shelter and clients of Wellington SPCA vet clinic.

This exciting role also includes the general care of hospitalised animals, including pre/post-operative care and the feeding, monitoring, medicating and exercising of animals, as well as administration duties and liaison with animal owners and caregivers.

Nursing team leader: maternity locum

We are looking for a motivated, capable nurse to lead our team of veterinary nurses for a year from February 2012 to cover maternity leave. It is possible that this position will continue beyond the year.

The role involves leading a team of 5 fulltime nurses in our Best Practice accredited clinic in Pukekohe.

The vet, reception and nursing team leaders operate closely to run a busy practice efficiently.

This role is more than being a nurse, and more than being a head nurse. There are large management aspects to this position including team management, liaison with suppliers, preparing drug order, overseeing equipment maintenance and servicing, development and leadership of nursing services in the practice, maintenance of pharmacy, training new staff, promoting Best Practice standards etc.

This is an exciting, varied position for an experienced nurse wanting to move into a more managerial position. Previous experience in managing staff would be a great advantage.

Some clinical work is still required, but this is primarily a team leading role.

Full time position for a  vet nurse available in an Auckland small animal practice immediately. We will consider a locum to help give us time to find the right person. The practice is well equipped with full computerisation , Isoflourane gas anaesthetic machine, BP Doppler and HDO doppler, ECG , IM3 ultrasonic scaler and Kavo dental drill, root canal capability, Spotchem blood machine ,infusion pump, full featured .autoclave and surgery light, condenser discharge xray and dental xray units ,etc.

We have a part time receptionist but some reception work is required at times.

This is more than a backroom nursing position. We need an all  round talent with ability in the technical side of vet nursing as well as excellent client communication skills, ,ability to do drug and OTC orders ,balance daily cash occasionally and so on.
Interaction with clients is expected and encouraged.
Remuneration is attractive and based on the applicant’s experience and ability .It will reflect the all round talents of the successful individual.
Clients are understanding and usually give us the chance to make the most of our skills by being able to pay for diagnostic evaluations and good veterinary care.
