An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full- time, experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our busy team at Pet Doctors Taradale (Taradale Vet Hospital).

We are a well-equipped clinic with a lovely team, made up of 5 Vets, 9 Nurses and a Team Leader. Our clinic is well equipped including full in house laboratory capability (IDEXX), digital radiography including dental and we perform a full range of surgeries, including orthopaedics and complex soft tissue surgeries. 

As a Veterinary Nurse at our Taradale clinic, you will be working alongside very knowledgeable Vets, which means that we have an interesting and varied case load! Our Nurses are responsible for surgical admission & preparation, surgical operation, anaesthetics, post-operative care, out-patient care and client education including puppy classes. We carry out an array of tasks, including blood collection and placing catheters. If you’re not confident in a certain area of your nursing skillset, our brilliant Nurses can help you gain confidence and through the variety of cases we see, you will have the opportunity to practice and develop your skillset further.

In addition, our Nurses rotate between the hospital, surgery and reception duties and the role is incredibly varied and will provide you with enough challenges to help in your development but also in your success as a nurse! 

In this role, you will be working 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday, and will be on a rotating weekend roster, which is currently approximately 2 in 7 weekends.  Two nurses are rostered to work weekends; and each is rostered two days off during the following week.

Animal Referral Centre (ARC) is a busy, growing, private small animal specialist/emergency practice established in 2016. We are independently owned and operated and have specialists in small animal surgery and internal medicine. We are expecting to add dermatology and physiotherapy services to the practice in mid 2019.

Our after hours caseload is varied and interesting, consisting of a mixture of primary access and referral cases from practices in Auckland and beyond. A high proportion of our clients have pet insurance.

We have all the equipment you would expect in a modern veterinary hospital including full in-house laboratory suite with Radiometer, multiparameter patient monitors, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, mechanical ventilation, on-site CT, and dedicated cat and dog receptions, consulting rooms and wards. We have a receptionist on most weekdays evenings and Sundays.

We are looking for nurses who are available for occasional casual work for leave cover, sick cover, public holidays etc. Successful candidates must have a positive attitude as well as a passion for emergency and critical care (ECC). At least 2 years experience as a veterinary nurse is required. Previous emergency nursing experience is an advantage, but not essential.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join our Dunedin Clinic which has brand new state of the art equipment including an in-house laboratory with biochemistry, electrolyte and urinalysis analysers, digital radiography and digital dental x-ray, a fully equipped surgical suite, separate dog/cat wards and a full range of dental equipment.

The primary responsibilities of this position include: medical and surgical nursing tasks, running in house pathology, caring, handling and cleaning of animals, maintaining the overall hygiene of the practice, delivering excellent customer service to clients and working in the clinic reception.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of Veterinary Nursing experience, hold a qualification that is recognised in New Zealand and have a ‘can do’ team player attitude.
