We are the first clinic in Wellington to attain feline friendly status, so a love for cats is a big plus.

We are looking for a nurse to work around 26 hours a week with minimal weekend work. The clinic is open 9am to 12pm on Saturdays and you would be rostered for one in four weekends. If working fewer hours would suit you better, then we can be flexible.

WBRT takes in approximately 1000 birds a year. From ducks to geese to swans to small altricial birds, we are the main facility taking in non-native and non-threatened bird species in the Wellington Region.

Currently we are seeking a part-time staff member to work 2 days a week, plus occasional public holidays and weekend cover.

The Avian Rehabilitation Assistant will help to treat, rehabilitate, and provide other essential daily care for a wide range of birds. You will also be required to clean outdoor aviaries on a daily basis, along with all the cleaning duties the WBRT hospital requires.

A full driver’s license and your own vehicle are essential requirements for this job, as you need to pick up interns and volunteers at the Johnsonville railway station on your way in each morning and drop them back there on your way out each evening.

Overview of requirements for this position:

The applicant should have at least a Certificate in Veterinary Nursing or in Captive Wildlife Management, or have other relevant qualifications and/or experience.
