Tamworth is the largest and most populated city in the North Western region of New South Wales. Situated on the Peel River it is located almost midway between Brisbane and Sydney.
Tamworth is best known as Australia’s Country Music Capital for the nationally recognised and award-winning annual Country Music Festival held each year over 10 days in January and doubling the region’s population. This is the largest music festival in the southern hemisphere and one of the top music festivals 10 in the world.
The city is recognised as the National Equine Capital of Australia because of the high number of equine events held in the city and the construction of the world-class Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre, the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
