The tropical town of Port Douglas, roughly a one-hour, 60km drive north from Cairns, has a lot to offer. From the aquamarine waters of the Great Barrier Reef to the breathtaking canopy of the Daintree Rainforest, the crystal creeks of Mossman Gorge, and the palm fringed golden sands of Four Mile Beach. It is the only place on Earth where two World Heritage-listed sites - the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest - meet. Port Douglas was No. 3 on Australian Traveller magazine's list of 100 Best Towns in Australia.

Local activities include Kitesurfing which is often seen at the southern end of Four Mile Beach, particularly during the winter months when trade winds blow from the south. Also, numerous companies run daily trips from the marina to the outer reef and the low isles for scuba diving and snorkelling. Port Douglas is also well known for its many restaurants, walks and golf courses.
