The City of Cairns is on the Queensland tropical coast, about 1,720 km from Brisbane. It is reliant on the sugar and tourism industries. Cairns is a popular travel destination for foreign tourists because of its tropical climate and proximity to many attractions, including the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation. It is the major commercial centre in the area. Trinity Beach is one of the Northern beach suburbs. The area experiences a wet and a dry season.
