Werribee is a suburb of Melbourne, 32 km south-west of the Melbourne CBD, located halfway to Geelong on the Princes Highway. It's local government area is the City of Wyndham. Situated on the banks of the Werribee River, Werribee is home to strong industrial and technology districts, two major retail precincts, intensive vegetable growing areas and grazing lands. Attractions include the open range Werribee Zoo, the Werribee Park Mansion and the State Equestrian Centre. The University of Melbourne Werribee campus is a hub for teaching, research and equine specialist care, and hosts the Werribee Equine Centre and Greencross Veterinary Hospital.

Just south of the town centre is Werribee South Beach, located at the mouth of the Werribee River. The estuary offers good recreational fishing and there are several jetties, boat ramps, grass foreshore areas and stretches of sandy beach. The scenic two-kilometre Wyndham Bay Trail extends parallel to the coast along Beach Road, suitable for both walkers and cyclists. At the eastern end of Werribee South's beach is Wyndham Harbour - a world-class marina with waterfront dining, shopping and residential developments.
