The Horsham Rural City comprises two major towns. Horsham, Capital of the Wimmera Region, with a population of 13,000 people and Natimuk, with a population of about 500 people - home to world-famous rock-climbing mecca, Mount Arapiles.
Horsham lies 300 kilometres north-west of Melbourne and 450 kilometres south east of Adelaide, on the main rail and road routes linking Victoria with Adelaide. It is the major retail, business and service centre for the wider Wimmera Region.
The city boasts a vibrant shopping precinct with a wide variety of stores to choose from. Its coffee shops and restaurants are fast gaining a reputation for variety and quality. Horsham hosts a range of quality major events from sport to cultural interests. Important facilities include the famous golf course, lakes (in normal seasons!), Art Gallery. The finest wool in the world comes from the region, and a new multi-million dollar livestock exchange has recently been constructed on the outskirts of the city.
