Yarrawonga is an outer northern suburb of Palmerston. It is 21 km SE of the Darwin CBD.

Darwin is dynamic, different, diverse and constantly evolving as Australia's most cosmopolitan city. Its relaxed tropical lifestyle is enjoyed by a population of approximately 81, 670. Darwin is home to people from more than 60 nationalities and 70 different ethnic backgrounds. The city's multicultural mix is particularly highlighted by its many exciting ethnic cultural festivals and weekly food and craft markets.

Being a monsoonal climate there is a distinctive wet season period, with most rain falling between December and March. There can be high intensity storms at this time, often providing spectacular lightning displays.

Many visitors are surprised to find that it has accommodation, eateries, clubs, pubs, museums and other amenities that are at least equal to, and often better than, what you'll find in the southern cities.

For anglers, Darwin Harbour is known around Australia and the world as a world class fishing destination where barramundi, jewfish, giant trevally and other iconic Top End fish thrive.
