SES EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES (KILDARE/WICKLOW) is seeking an enthusiastic equine veterinarian with stud experience to join our 2.5 - 3.5 vet and 1 nurse team to fulfil a fixed term breeding season position January / February - July / August 2026.
The practice works with a large number of flat thoroughbred stud farms making February - June very busy months. We have a large artificial breeding case load to include chilled and frozen AI, embryo transfer and OPU. This high caseload is largely seen March - August. We provide a busy problem mare referral service too. We are a fully ambulatory practice providing all aspects of routine care and an out of hours emergency service to our clients.

2026 REPRODUCTION / STUD MEDICINE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
SES Equine Veterinary Services is offering an extremely unique internship opportunity for a motivated veterinary graduate with a strong interest in equine reproduction and stud medicine. This fixed term position runs from February to August 2026
Our practice works with a large number of flat Thoroughbred stud farms with an increased work load commencing in February. The breeding season is our busiest period, with a high volume artificial breeding caseload which includes chilled and frozen AI, embryo transfer, and OPU. We also provide a problem mare referral service. Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience by shadowing our veterinary team therefore gaining in depth exposure , knowledge and experience in all aspects of equine reproduction and stud medicine.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside our experienced team of 2.5 -3.5 vets and 1 nurse in a supportive environment. Interns will assist with all aspects of stud medicine, routine care, and emergency work, and will benefit from mentorship and case discussion.

FALKLAND ISLANDS, SOUTH ATLANTIC - MIXED, CLINICAL VET OFFICER New Position
An exciting opportunity exists in the South Atlantic for a full-time vet to join our small, busy and very varied practice in the Falkland Islands starting in March 2026
The Role
The Veterinary Services of the Falkland Islands Government invites applications for the post of Veterinary Officer (clinical).
The position consists of a combination of clinical (80%) and public health duties (20% - assisting the Public Health Vet). The clinical work is truly mixed practice (60% small animals, 20% equine and 20% livestock) including occasional wildlife cases. The basic public health duties include inspections and audits of fishing vessels and one small red meat production establishment. Full training will be provided to the right candidate.
Routine hours are from 8am to 4:30pm, with a set lunch break between 12-1pm and the out of hours emergency service is worked on a 1:3 rota system.
The Person
You should have at least 5 years’ clinical experience. Ideally that will include a livestock and/or equine bias with general practice level of small animal medicine and surgical skills. Previous public health experience is not essential. You should preferably have Official Veterinarian qualifications or must be willing to obtain them to allow you to sign export health certificates for PETs movements and product export.
You should be capable of working as part of a small dedicated team, be prepared to fill a varied role, and interact closely with the community of the Falkland Islands to provide a complete, professional, clinical and public health Veterinary Service.
If you are the right candidate you will have an appreciation of the outdoors and wildlife and a sensible and enthusiastic approach to veterinary medicine.
The Package
- Initial 2-4 Years Fixed Term Contract, with potential for extension by mutual agreement.
- Salary: £47,428 - £54,424, starting salaries will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity, paid upon successful completion of the contract.
- 30 Days Annual Leave, plus government and public holidays (totalling 41 days leave).
- Relocation Allowance, to help with moving costs.
- Flights Package for you and your dependents, including annual return flight home.
- Government Housing for rent at a subsidised rate and a starter pack to help you settle in.
