Southside Veterinary Surgery - Cairns
We're a friendly, privately owned small animal clinic located in beautiful Cairns, and we're on the lookout for a motivated vet to join our close-knit crew.
At Southside, we're all about quality care - for our patients and our people. We've built a clinic culture where learning is encouraged, support is always on hand, and celebrating wins (big or small) is part of the job.
You'll be joining a team of 6 vets and 13 nurses - a bunch of legends with diverse backgrounds, plenty of experience, and one shared mission: to support each other and provide top-notch veterinary care. When the going gets tough, we've got each other's backs. When the day goes smoothly, we celebrate together. We're a team in every sense of the word.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER:
🐶 77 years of combined vet experience - we've got the knowledge, and we love sharing it!
🐱 3-4 vets rostered each day - so you're never flying solo.
💰 Salary from $80,000 - $160,000, with room to grow based on your goals and progression.
🌙 No on-call or after-hours - thanks to a local 24/7 emergency clinic.
📅 A balanced weekly roster - 2 surgery shifts + 2 consulting shifts, tailored as much as possible to your preferences.
📆 No Sundays + a dedicated weekday off - because we value rest.
🕐 Short Saturdays - we close at 1pm.
📚 1 week paid study leave annually + 4 weeks paid holidays, with extra unpaid leave negotiable.
🏅 GOLD ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic - with a separate cat waiting area, consult room, and ward.
👩⚕️ Dedicated consult & hospital nurses - to keep your day running smoothly.
🥗 1-hour paid lunch and small breaks during the day to reset, check labs, and make calls.
🌴 Tropical medicine - yep, we've got some fascinating stuff to work up here (your city mates will be jealous!).
🛠️ All the toys - dental x-rays, in-house lab, ortho gear, monitoring equipment, ultrasound (including cardiac probe), and more.
