Methven is a small rural town in the Canterbury region of New Zealand’s South Island, located at the foot of the Southern Alps and on the western edge of the Canterbury Plains. It lies approximately 95 kilometres southwest of Christchurch and about 35 kilometres north of Ashburton, offering a balance between accessibility and a distinctly rural setting. The town has a strong agricultural foundation and continues to support surrounding sheep, cropping and dairy farms.

Methven is widely known as the gateway to Mt Hutt, one of New Zealand’s leading ski fields, which draws winter visitors from across the country.
