WARWICK TOWN AND COUNTRY VETS

Warwick is well known as the Rose and Rodeo capital of Australia and is the major commercial centre in the Darling Downs. It is located 162 km southwest of Brisbane and only an hour's drive to Toowoomba, it is a progressive and attractive town with a population of 14,000. Warwick can claim to be the first important settlement in inland Queensland due to the 1840s, the New South Wales Government (Queensland did not become a separate colony until 1859) relented and allowed squatters and pastoralists to move onto the rich and fertile plains.

Warwick also boasts an impressive range of sporting and cultural facilities to suit all tastes. Natural recreation attractions include Leslie Dam (where sailing, skiing and fishing are popular), Queen Mary Falls and Cunningham's Gap National Parks and numerous fossicking area. Warwick is also famous for its annual Rodeo - held on the last full weekend in October and preceded by the month-long Rose and Rodeo Festival.
