Skibbereen is a bustling market town in County Cork, Ireland, located on the N71 national secondary road. The River Ilen runs through the town reaching the sea 12 kilometres away, at the seaside village of Baltimore.

Just outside Skibbereen is Tragumna beach, & the town's location near the coast means that sea fishing, scuba diving, sailing, and kayaking are possible. Skibbereen has four primary schools and one high school.

County Cork is the largest and southernmost county of Ireland, situated in the province of Munster and named after the city of Cork, which is Ireland's second largest city.
